Black DNC LEADER?

Every time CNN or MSNBC mentions Michael Steele, they call him the FIRST BLACK LEADER OF THE RNC. I was curious if there'd ever been a Black leader of the DNC but am having trouble finding it in Google....anybody know?
Thanks.

Ron Brown served as DNC Chairman from 1989-93.

Z,
It doesn't matter. Steele is a bad leader and he needs to get a grip on what it takes to be the leader of a party that is in flux. What is is the Republican party about? That's the question. Where is the party going?

Oh, did he? I'd forgotten...thanks so much, Mustang.
It always sounds like the media portrays Steele as the Republican first black ANYTHING.
I like to say that Clinton had a Black Secretary who typed for him but Bush had a Black Secretary of STATE!

Law and Order...good questions. I have a hunch we'll be getting clearer answers to those soon. I hope so.

The flux comes from this nonsense about widening the tent. This explains why the GOP isn't a conservative party any longer.

Compromising on principles is something that Democrats do with impunity ... that is exactly where Steele is taking the RNC.

I see Mustang already supplied the answer, Z. Good for him!

RNC get caught buying $3000 worth of lap dances again?

Ducky, you've got Edwards and CLinton and Jefferson and Rangel and you're gleeful over lap dances for young punk Republicans who aren't public figures and got nailed?

I keep telling you that's all you've got. Thanks.

Some time back, Ducky was gloating about how much money he pays in taxes. A regular Joey Biden poster boy, he became a real patriot and stepped up. And of course, we're all proud of him.

So Ducky, how much money did you make from that RNC gig? Did you declare it as earned income?

Ducky that was a racist comment.

Thurgood Marshall was probably the most powerful Negro in our history. He was a follower of Dubois -- a nettlesome, fundamentally destructive presence. I didn't like Marshall. He looked as though his life were a permanent Maalox Moment. In fact he always gave the impression he was smelling rotten fish. A deeply unpleasant personality from all the outward and visible signs.

I cannot say I was sorry when good old Anno Domini finally caught up with him.

The opposite of DuBois was Booker T. Washington -- his ideas prove to be far more constructive over time than the hate-filled fantasies of bitter, collectivist ideologues and Communist-style "revolutionaries."

Ronn Brown! Yes. I'd almost forgotten. And wasn't it an ASTOUNDING coincidence that he was killed in a flight to or from Dubrovnik, and that a hole the size of a 38 was found in his skull after they sorted through the wreckage?

The Clinton Deathlist!. Thoroughly debunked, of course, but how COULD that many people connected to a regime have met mysterious, tragic and untimely ends by sheer coincidence? Not bloody likely considering the odds.

Go ahead call me a kook or a crank. I DON'T CARE.
