Bill Cosby didn't say this...but check it out for my point below:

This is an email that's circulating....incorrectly attributed to Bill Cosby....check out the comment I add below:
I  HAVE DECIDED TO BECOME A WRITE-IN CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT IN THE YEAR 2012.

HERE IS MY PLATFORM:

(1). Any use of the phrase: 'Press 1 for English'
is immediately BANNED!!!    English  is  the official language;   speak it or wait outside of our borders until you can.
(2). We will immediately go into a two year isolationist  attitude in order to straighten out the greedy big business posture in this country. America will allow NO imports,  and we'll do no exports.     We will use the 'Wal-Mart 's policy,
'If  we
ain't got it, you don't need it.' We'll make it here and sell it here!
(3). When imports are allowed, there will be a 100% import tax on it coming in here.

(4). All retired military personnel will be required to man one of the many observation towers located on the southern border of the United States  (six month tour). They will be under strict orders not  to fire on  SOUTH BOUND  aliens.
(5). Social Security will immediately return to its original state
.   If you didn't put nuttin in, you AIN'T getting nuttin out.  Neither the President nor any other politician will be able to touch it.
(6). Welfare. -- Checks will be handed out on Fridays, at the end of the 40 hour school week, the successful completion of a urinalysis test for drugs, and passing grades.

(7). Professional Athletes -- Steroids?  The FIRST time you check positive you're banned from sports ... for life.

(8). Crime -- We will adopt the Turkish method,  i.e.,  the  first time you steal,  you lose your right hand.  There is no more 'life sentences'.  If convicted of murder, you will be put to death by the same method you chose for the victim you killed: gun, knife, strangulation,  etc.
(9). One export of ours will be allowed: wheat; because the world needs to eat.  However, a bushel of wheat will be the EXACT price of a barrel of oil.
(10).  All foreign aid, using American taxpayer money, will immediately cease and the saved money will help to pay off the national debt and, ultimately, lower taxes.  When disasters occur around the world, we'll ask The American People if they want to donate to a disaster fund, and each citizen can make the decision as to whether, or not, it's a worthy cause.
(11). The Pledge of Allegiance will
be said EVERY day at school and  every day in CONGRESS.

(12). The National Anthem  will
be played at all appropriate ceremonies,  sporting events,  outings, etc.
My apology is offered if I've stepped on anyone's toes .... nevertheless.....

GOD
 BLESS AMERICA !

Sincerely,  Bill Cosby

Snopes.com says this is  "Incorrectly Attributed" and I wish I could copy/paste but their site doesn't allow it for some reason so HERE is their take on it but let me just add that they say in only slightly different words that "Bill Cosby would never say anything so 'REACTIONARY'....and George Carlin's also had this attributed to him and we all know he has better politics than that, too"   Check it out............you really need to see the Snopes.com bias for yourself.  Oh, yes, they frequently are right in their FALSE or TRUE attributions but the bias, if it even subtly reflects badly on a liberal, is so obvious it'll honestly make you laugh as they bill themselves as having no agenda for the sake of the validity of the site, considering its goals..........."REACTIONARY"  ya, right........to say the Pledge, have the National Anthem played, etc.   Obviously, I don't agree with Number 8 about cutting peoples' hands off for stealing but, hey, it 's kept people from stealing in some Arab countries!   z

Beware of the leftist things you wish for.

1.) I'd like to think Americans are secure enough in their cultural identity to not mind a business offering the option of customer service call-routing for non-English speakers, or confuse a sound, capitalist business practice for actual attempts to conduct social engineering.

2.) and 3.) Autarky is economically stupid and self-defeating. It becomes the opposite of "the Wal-Mart" policy - "If we ain't got it, it's because very few can afford it." Free trade benefits all. Look at garment manufacturing in South Africa. Because the United States gives a trade preference to South African clothing exports, several nations (including the US, but primarily Taiwan) are setting up clothing factories in South Africa. It is the same in China. Because America gives preference to Chinese goods, businesses from all over the world invest in manufacturing their products in China. The more nations that open up for trade, the more wealthy and more stable all nations involved become.

4.) I would hope militarily securing the border with Mexico would serve an actual, legitimate military purpose.

5.) Virtually no Social Security recipient, from Ida May Fuller to the present, has paid in even a respectable fraction of what they'll have recieved back. Yet still, doing away with the Ponzi scheme of Social Security altogether and letting wage earners keep their money to spend or invest privately as they see fit will likely and potentially yield greater returns to them than coerced Social Security payments can or ever will.

6.) Where no welfare system to dole out checks at all would create more hard workers than minimalist freeloaders that the welfare system both creates and perpetuates.

7.) Ban the whole team for life, not just the steroid abuser. In fact, ban teams until government bonds and loans issued decades ago to pay to build the original stadium they tore down and replaced have been paid back.

8.) Let's keep the Constitutional ban on cruel and unusual punishment and put non-violent criminals in work camps and violent criminals to death.

9.) Under the goofy autarky set up by 2.) and 3.) above it would be too expensive to grow wheat for American purchase and consumption, much less trade it for oil.

10) Eliminating budgeted foreign aid to all countries would only reduce the current $1.5 Trillion Obamadeficit by 0.002% A more serious proposal would cut Social Security and other social welfare spending to all sources, which would eliminate the annual deficits entirely and pay off the accrued national debt in less than 5 years, just in time for even more tax cuts when all debt and obligated liabilities are eliminated.

11.) Wouldn't have to worry about what is pledged in public shools if there were no public schools.

12.) Including broadcast station sign-offs, instead of info-commercials.

The above 12 is what "reactionary" actually looks like.

I never pay attention to those emails like the Cosby one, and never pass one on that suggests I do so.

On the subject of Snopes, I don't know who elected those people God, nor do I ever take their word on something. As a matter of fact, I blogged on that subject some time back. "http://spuriousmissives.com/2009/11/legends-vs-speculation-or-why-you-cant-trust-snopes-com/".

Their bias runs unchecked, and their only claim to fame is expending effort in tracing various emails, and there is no guarantee they get it right.

And so we have it!

Z, I've learned to discount automatically any of these mass-forwarded emails... 99%, they're bogus.

As for Snopes, they do seem to be pretty biased towards the left.

Absurdly myopic.

The US banned imports in the 1930s. Other nations retaliated. The Great Depression ensued.

Making welfare contingent on productive behaviour is great in theory. But will we let the welfare Mom's children starve or go unclothed if Mom doesn't meet whatever standard? Will we allow the borderline mentally ill man who is unable to fend for himself die on the streets?

There's some good rationale here, but mainly simple minded demagogic populism.

EVERYONE...
I never share these things with email friends and guess I didn't make that clear! sorry. I always Snope, as if that was the be-all and end-all as most people think.
As BOB suggests, that's ridiculous but it's all we've got because LIberals are running the world right now....meant to say RUINING, same thing.
I'm glad none of you pass these on, either.

THE REASON I POSTED THIS WAS THE 'REACTIONARY' COMMENT BY SNOPES, that's all :-)

Beamish, thanks...I don't agree with some of this, especially Social Security the way you see it...but I sure do admire your thinking and taking the time to share it.

Ducky, I'm sick of your silly insults and deleted you.

Bob..when Snopes has to admit a liberal erred, they cover them in hilarious ways, I wonder if you've noticed that? They actually give reasons WHY they might have done or said whatever it was that make no sense and would never happen had a COnservative done the same thing...Snopes is a joke and it's sad it's the only game in town. YOu mention Wikipedia in your blog post and you're right there; anybody can put whatever they want in a Wikipedia "Fact" piece...and most people use it as gospel..I admit I do but try to get input from other articles to weigh what's true and what's not.. thanks for coming by ..

Steve, my point is Snopes....but thanks for your input.

Z,

I do believe the Social Security Administration's printing budget be retained. Not to print checks, mind you, but rather to send a monthly letter to recipients that says:

"SUCKER! HA HA! Love, FDR"

;)

Z said...

Ya, Beamish, and I don't want to get too much into this again but there are millions of people who, rightly or wrongly, paid into SS and expect something for it now that they're retiring. You don't swipe that away now. Fix it, ya....later...or NOW, but keep the benefits for those who counted on it, right or wrong.

Also, I don't believe for a second all Americans would well manage their own private savings accounts..especially now with kids not learning squat in our schools. It'll be class warfare again..come to think of it; My own nieces and nephews are smart, well schooled and have great opportunities (if there were only any jobs); THEY'll manage their money well, the other kids won't, then it'll be hell to pay for my nieces and nephews, right? They'll be maligned by the time they're in the working world for having had the nerve to actually learn and prosper and succeed...3 things the idiot libs in America today can't allow.

Yeah, who cares if the house is on fire. Glee is on the tube!

Give retiring people exactly what they paid in back, only what they paid in back, in one lump sum, and no more. No extra benefits beyond that.

Children, even those with gray hair, will just have to take the rude awakening. There's just no gentle way to remove a cancer.

I've said it before, and I'll say forever. My generation wants to peacefully but abruptly end this rape of the American econmy.

The next generation will put retirees in gas chambers.

Z said...

good points all, Beamish....

How much would a woman who made, let's say $65,000.00 a year for 30 years get?

FrogBurger said...

I'm afraid that at some point this will happen.

1. The concept of a family as something with grand parents, parents and children doesn't exist
2. It's unsustainable b/c of extended longevity
3. The situation gets worse if gov takes over healthcare.

Like Beamish says, give me my SSN money back or at least don't ask me to contribute.

And if I can't take care of myself when I am old and no kid can take care of me, allow me to take a pill on my own.

Liberty requires courage in face of adversity. Liberty requires not to be afraid of those tough times and death.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

How much would a woman who made, let's say $65,000.00 a year for 30 years get?

That's not an easy question to answer. $65,000 annual income was a whole lot in 1981, but not so much in 2011. Her lifestyle would have diminished dramatically from 1981 as prices / inflation went up if she kept a constant $65,000 income each year.

[$65,000 in 1981 would be the equivalent of around $157,500 dollars in 2011]

Even with inflation adjusting for the diminishing value of the dollars paid in over 30 years, Social Security recipients typically get a hell of a lot more back than they ever paid in [which is why I scoff and laugh at the absurd "but I paid in" defense of keeping the SS system as is]

But, assuming annual income was constantly $65K from when that much was actually worth something in 1981 until today [$65K in 2011 dollars now adjusted to 1981 dollars then is a mere $27K] then over 30 years, assuming she made the maximum pay ins to Social Security allowed by law through those years, the pile of money accrued waiting for the woman to retire on would be around $132,000.

And that's it. Roughly two more years of $65,000 income before she needs to get a job and stop expecting a handout. And that's if she paid in the maximums allowed by law, which no one in their right mind does.

Now, go back to 1981, and give that woman back the $2,500 in 1981 dollars Social Security took from her and have her invest it instead [the equivalent of investing $6100 today] in the stock market.

Let her buy say, $2,500 worth of stock in some snazzy doorstop manufacturer called "Apple Computers" back in 1981....

That stock alone would be worth today more than she'd get back if everything she put into Sociual Security was given back, and worth more than she'd ever get out of Social Security keeping schedules as is.

Now, think about that extra $3,000 to $6000 she threw into Social Security's Ponzi scheme each year for 30 years, instead of buying stocks....

FB..wow! I wanted to stand up and sing Les Marseilles when I read your comment!! "Marchon...Marchon.." (or does that have an s on the end?):-)

This is brilliant:
1. The concept of a family as something with grand parents, parents and children doesn't exist
2. It's unsustainable b/c of extended longevity
3. The situation gets worse if gov takes over healthcare.

Why do ultra libs actually seem to WANT to demean life and the family? When did Americans stop living with grandparents, etc?
WELFARE?

Beamish, thanks for that point about when $65K was worth ..whatever..it sure has changed, hasn't it. $132K...ya, 2 years and then "I NEED A JOB!" NOt good.

SO, you of such faith in the American public (apparently!)...do YOU think enough Americans can be trusted to invest (considering there are investments that pay back anything worthwhile again in our HISTORY!) enough, and not SPEND IT ALL, before they retire? I really really doubt it, as much as I hate to say that.
Well, no I don't...after Obama's election, I have even smaller hope for my country and her countrymen than I did before.

Ultimately it's because people like Ayers had pathetic childhoods and they are driven by revenge and pure hatred for anything that looks balanced, nurturing and normal.

Sick in the head those ideologues are.

it seems that you ignore the danger of China!

Actually, the most dangerous and the greatest threat to the western civilisation and democracy is the CHINA.

any successful step that China gets on it's worlwide business trade, it pushs one step back your freedom.

SAM,

I honestly think Islam is a lot more dangerous than Chinese.

At some point Chinese will ask for more real democracy with their strong economic development. They're creating (after copying) products, and once their internal market is solid, it will become a different country.
The buddhist background of it is also in our favor. However, they do have potential issues with Islam as well since the islamist population is growing there too.

In the meantime, the middle east has nothing to offer aside from oil. Once we don't need oil, or at least less, they'll be in a terrible situation. The West will be blamed b/c that's just what they do.

Additionally and very importantly, Europe has to solve the problem too. In France, some muslims are now asking stores or restaurants to be halal. People are praying publicly in the streets. Sarkozi was just talking about reviewing the 1905 law preventing public funding of religious monuments, churches AND mosques.

For having worked with them, I'd take the Chinese anytime over an Islam-based society.

Disclaimer: not all Muslims are like the Brotherhood. But the rise of the Brotherhood as something that would be similar to the International Communist Party is frightening to me.

SAM,

I disagree about China. Just one American bulk retailer department store chain's renting of shipping warehouse space, the rent paid on storing Chinese-manufactured goods before they're shipped to Wal-Mart stores around the world, accounts for over 3% of China's GDP.

Okay, that's alone just Wal-Mart's storage space rent in China. What about Costco's warehouses? Target's? Best Buy? Sears? Home Depot?

Retailing Chinese products in American stores accounts for some 20% of America's GDP overall. But that's replaceable assets. If we weren't selling Chinese products to ourselves in America, we'd be selling some other nation's products to ourselves instead (including American products, once union labor goes the way of the dodo bird).

But, without American trade, what happens to China's annual GDP? This is what would happen: China's GDP would drop by over 75%!!!

America trades with China because slavery, such that it is, is illegal in America.

In short, America tells China what to do, when to do it, and how much to do it, or else. It's "shut up, dink. Make a TV set. Pay for the Iraq War. Shut down your factories so the Olympics don't smell like burnt ass. That's a good dink. Have some rice. Go away now."

American investment in China has paid handsomely. It, along with inheriting capitalist Hong Kong from the British in the 1990s is the sole source of Chinese wealth, which now approaches producing with 1.3 billion people the same amount of GDP the 50 million people of the states of California and Texas combined produce.

That raw number comes to China needing 26 workers to produce what 1 American worker does.

In other words, 26 Chinese workers getting paid an average of $7,400 a year to produce the same amount of GDP as 1 American earning an average of $47,400.

In other words, it costs Chinese employers $192,400 a year to pay 26 people to produce the same amount of wealth in GDP than a single American worker making $47,400 does.

These numbers become even more extremely incongruent when you account for unemployment in China and the United States, because then you're looking at around 30 Chinese workers at a labor cost of $222,000 a year to produce the wealth in GDP of 1 American worker making around $43,000

China's got a long way to go before it ever becomes an efficient economic threat to Pascagoula, Mississippi, much less the entire United States. And they lose 75% of their GDP the day America divests itself from them.

When we get tired of them, we'll turn Brazil or Mexico or India into them and replace them.

But as long as they remain obedient little servants, America will keep them around.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

To add to what Frogburger said, China retooling to meet the demand for their products will force them to open up further to foreign investment and development, which naturally will force them to grant more economic and political freedoms to their people, which will perpetuate China's move towards capitalism and with it democracy.

It's because we know an ancient secret that the Chinese government hasn't figured out yet, but are starting to get a hint of:

Communism doesn't work after you run out of other people's money.

China will democratize before it goes back to starving itself without the United States.

To make sure everyone understands my position: I have nothing against Muslims who live in Western countries and agree to live according to laws and principles of the country. I had a client who was a wonderful, business savvy, entrepreneur, modern Muslim woman. I also have a good friend on the east coast from Bangladesh who loves the US and lives his life like an American.

My concerns is about Islam *used* as a collectivist, international political ideology to fight against what they consider the oppressor, the Western world.

As a political movement, to me it's the direct continuation of communism and leftist liberation philosophies.
