Super Bowl Advice?

Before anybody jumps on me for this, I don't really care which team wins except my sister and her husband are flying this afternoon to Dallas and the Super Bowl game,  rooting for the Packers, and my buddy Elmer's Brother is a BIG Steelers fan, ...but I thought whoever wrote this was pretty clever and I thought I'd pass it along!

Every Red Blooded American should jump in line to support the Green Bay Packers! The Packers defeated the Chicago Bears on Sunday afternoon thus earning them the opportunity to go to the Super Bowl. By doing so, they saved the Hard-Working, Red Blooded, Taxpaying Americans literally several million dollars of tax money. How, you say? Simple... we were told that, if the Chicago Bears had won, President Obama (and probably his family) would probably be attending the Super Bowl to cheer on his hometown team. Since the Bears lost...the President won't be attending. The money saved from not using Air Force 1, the limousines, all the additional security, and let's not forget  Michelle Obama's entourage, is probably literally several million dollars!  Therefore, every American should cheer on the Green Bay Packers at the Super Bowl to show them our gratitude. Oh...and let's not forget to thank Chicago Bears Quarterback Jay Cutler for his role in the Packer's success! With that said... cheer for America's team...the Green Bay Packers!

Z:  Who are YOU rooting for?

I typically root for the team closer to where I live. So, I guess I'm with EB on this one.

I'm not rooting for anyone-- I detest American football. I'll be watching Puppy Bowl instead. :-)

I'm actually a Lions fan but since they are not, nor ever will be, in the Super Bowl I will cheer for Pittsburgh. I have been a fan since I was a kid.

Green Bay, there's something vulgar about cheering a rapist like Roethlisberger.

I just want it over with, pitchers/catchers report for spring training next week.

elmers brother said...

Wow duhkkky why don't you root for Green Bay because it would be redistributing the wealth?

elmers brother said...

Considering your misogynistic bent duhkkky I'm surprised at your comment about Big Ben.

Mrs. FrogBurger said...

The Packers! The team is humble (including the QB) and talented, plus Rodgers just seems like a nice guy. Also, my dad grew up in Wisconsin, so my family has cheered on Green Bay for years.

Green Bay.

Must be why you defended Polanski.

I'm just glad the Pats aren't playing.

Green Bay. Because Ducky and I are just two peas in a pod. That, and thier my favorite team. That, and it saves me the hassle of getting disowned by my father. That, and Rodgers does some really neat fist pumps.

Mrs Frog--my parents are from Milwaukee. What part of Wisconsin does you father come from?

Z-kind of funny since we just talked about it...yesterday someone from work asked to borrow the joys of yiddish.

Hi, Tio,
My dad is from Sheboygan. I've only been there once--when the family was moving from NJ to CA in 1976, driving across country, and we stopped there en route for the fair. I was only 9 but I remember how good the german sausage tasted! ;-)

I was rooting for GB from the start of the playoffs, a real people's team, but after thinking about the grandiose O. entourage I'm extra glad I did. Anything to keep those 747s on the ground.

FB...excellent retort to Ducky on the rapist thing. It's FINE for a rapist like film maker Polanski, not so good for the footballer :-)

Mrs FB, nice to have you here! xx

Tio..that is funny about the JOYS OF YIDDISH! And I did remember you ordered borscht that time.

GB's Rodgers' folks were on TV this morning, FOX, I believe...or CNN, not sure; they were very good people. Don't tell Elbro, but I might go with Greenbay this time :-) sshhhhh!!

Ticker said...

GB, been a fan since dirt was invented. Lombardi was my hero when it came to coaches. A real man!

As a kid in the south I always caught hell over not pulling for the Redskins instead of GB but I stuck with them. No... There was no such thing as Atlanta Falcoons in those days.

elmers brother said...

No problem z. I have a hard time rooting to the Lakers, though I am happy for you.

The old adage "defense wins championships" certainly applies this year. Both the PAckers and the Steelers have great defense squads this year.

It's going to be a SACK WAR!

The winner:

Whoever has an uninjured QB at the end of the first half ;)

Ticker, 'since dirt'?!
Do you know the great story about God and the Atheist?
The Atheist says he can make a world, too..and God says he can't.
Finally, God says "Go ahead.." (I'm making this shorter!)
The Atheist leans down to start, scooping up a bunch of dirt...
God interrupts him.."Hey, GET YOUR OWN DIRT!" :-)

Elbro, thanks! THat's true...and I love the Lakers!

Beamish, good point. I hope it doesn't happen.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

Dammit Ducky,

Keep talk of that fruity wuzz "sport" baseball outta my Super Bowl weekend!

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

Z,

Hope it doesn't happen? What?!

Quarterbacks are supposed to get hospitalized. That's the goal of knocking them down over and over and over and over.

If they don't like it, they can go play... baseball, and stay inside when it rains.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

BTW, if yer betting on it... bet on black and yellow. GB's defense is good, but the Steelers defense is dayam good.

The NFL has gotten too strict on the 'rules of engagement, so we won't see any GOOD sacks, and if so there will be a flag, for sure. Unless the refs are fans of the opposition, anyway.

I say the Packers are pulling it out this year. Rather, my gut says so.

Great joke, Z!

I'm waiting for my dirty Bengals to make it... One day. Heh.

Z said...

Glad you liked the joke, brooke! xxx

Same here with the Redskins. I hope I'll see them win a SB before I die. That's my dream: going to the SB and if the Redskins go, I may spend the money as crazy as it sounds.

The Packers

I wish they would pull the stupid commercials with Washington riding in a truck

I'm not a big football fan, but this year I'm in a pool. Not great numbers I'm told, but, it's more fun this way, and you never know.

We do always watch the Superbowl game anyway, but since I have a chance to win $$$, I have more incentive to watch with a little gusto!

I'm for the Packers. I have to pick one of 'em to root for.

This is the one thing I can agree with Ducky about. I can't wait 'til spring training. Yahoo!!

Now Beamish, be nice. Oh, and I do know Carlin's routine m'dear, so spare me please!

Beamish, if I'm not mistaken isn't the stadium going to be covered tomorrow because of the weather?

Just askin'

Right Brooke, GO Bengals!! But for this one, Go packers, though much less enthusiastically!

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

Beamish, if I'm not mistaken isn't the stadium going to be covered tomorrow because of the weather?

This is why the Packers will lose. Lombardi is rolling in his grave at all this indoor football league nonsense.

I only like to games wear I can strip half-naked and paint my body with team colors while it's snowing.

Hockey should be played outside on a frozen lake, with risk of collapse into the freezing waters beneath.

Give me natural athletics. None of this "I need steroids to stand up and sit down most of the game" crap you get with baseball.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

When I'm President, we're going to build an open football stadium in Antartica for the Super Bowl. And bring in giant fans to blow the snow around like a blizzard. And do away with that wimpy "fair catch" rule.

;)

Anonymous said...

Oh please Beamish, that half naked bit is a little more than I need to know! Ha,Ha.

Btw, Lyle Alzado used steroids all those many years ago, are you suggesting other football players haven't used them?

Besides, they don't call the NFL the National Felony League for nothing.

Now see what you've gone and done, and I was so willing to forgive and forget! heh heh

Pris

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

Sure, Lyle Alzado used steroids, but he wasn't half-assed about it ;)

He harvested his human growth hormones straight out of corpses. None of that synthetic good for the environment crap. It made him a killer. RAAAAAAARRGH!

Who roars in baseball, anybody?

Nobody with less than one murder conviction should be allowed to play football.

That guy with your ball, he's mocking you. On national television. In front of your mom, yo.

Are you gonna take that? Or are you gonna put that QB in the hospital?

Now get out there and kill 'em!!!

Beamish, hate to tell you this, it made him dead!

You crack me up!

Beamish: AMEN!!!

When was the last time you saw a good, rough, in the freezing mud and snow game?

I think I was about nine or so.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

Brooke,

Them dirty Bengals used to play rough like that. ;)

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

Pris,

Imagine the football player we could make extracting human growth hormone from Lyle Alzado's corpse.

;)

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

Roethslisburger started the game injured...

oops

I don't know Beamish, you really want a field full of the walking dead?

I think we saw some of 'em playing for the Steelers today!

I wish I could care about these things, but I can't.

The more we can feel enthusiastic about the better off we are, so shame on me for not liking football, but it just doesn't appeal.

I guess most people feel that way about opera, ballet, classical music, and great books, so we're all deficient in our capacities to love and enjoy the great smorgasbord of delights the world has to offer.

At least I admit it.
