Wrestle with this story and tell me what you think!

Please READ THIS about an Iowan who won't wrestle a girl even for a State wrestling match he had his heart on winning.
Sometimes I let you good people tell me what you think before I weigh in on information I post but I have to say I ADMIRE THIS KID SO MUCH I COULD PINCH HIS CHEEKS but he's a wrestler so I have to restrain myself because you know how teenaged boys like older women to pinch their cheeks :-)  I'll just say "Joel Northrup, you impress me"

So, what do you think about this?  Should teenaged girls be in the same wrestling competition with boys?

Oh God...how silly and damn absurd.

I'm sure that if he happened to inadvertently touch one of her erogenous zones....he's be arrested for sexual abuse, attack or attempted rape.

What asinine bullshit we put up with in the name of racial, sexual "equality".

When the hell will we regain our damn common sense? Just because some father is disgruntled because he gave birth to a girl and not a boy...is no reason to allow girls to be in such close proximity with boys...who may "offend" them.

I'm completely baffled as to why this happens in America. Does a father not want their daughter protected and exempt from such potential abuse?

Pfffffffftttt.....

"When Northrup's forfeit was made official, Herkelman, a freshman at Cedar Falls (Iowa) High was summoned to the middle of the mat and her arm was raised aloft, as you can see in the picture above, signifying the first official victory for a girl at the Iowa wrestling championships."

What victory? That she had the stupidity to even think that she could win over the male? This is femanazism run amok in our culture. Nonsense. I applaud the male for not wanting to be seen as a bully for kicking her ass all over the mat.

He's the one who should be applauded for not capitulating to the derangement of multicultural / sexual equality in the boxing ring or on the mat.

On second thought...maybe he should have thrown her ass all over the mats...thus proving she had no right or business to be matched against a male opponent.

So...just what did she accomplish or prove? That she won a PC match where she faced no competition?

I sure as heck wouldn't have allowed my daughters to wrestle with boys. And I'd both feel terribly uncomfortable with my sons wrestling girls and wonder about the girls' parents for allowing it.

Moreover, as a former teenage boy, let me say that even the slightest physical contact with a girl...well, you can all guess.

This is a great demonstration of left wing ideology over common sense, of left wing extremism.

RedWood, what daddy wants his little girl WRESTLING, anyway? Gad. I agree, he'd be arrested the minute any part of him hit the wrong part of her.

Anonymous...in the NEW AMERICA, this IS a win..imagine? Big freakin' DEAL.........she won by forfeit...man, we are SO off our normal American WINNING COMPASS. This scares me, it really does.
Our poor kids.

Anonymous, what a precious comment...! "As a former teenaged boy" ...I love that. "Moreover, as a former teenage boy, let me say that even the slightest physical contact with a girl...well, you can all guess."

I think this is ridiculous. Is there anything left that boys or men can do without females intruding?

There are male domains and female domains. I think that's equal enough.

This young man is an honorable young man and what does he get for that? Disqualification.

A nice kid like him would probably not wrestle full out. He'd be more restrained. Is that fair? It's not equality is it!

There's no reason that girls can't be limited to wrestling girls, and boys against boys.

I should have thought of that myself....I was once a teenaged boy with hormones running thoroughly through my veins....along with the obligatory amounts of testosterone that made me a male. ( It's estrogen for girls and no match for the former...ask any girl!! )

Also we may have overlooked the fact that the male wrestler might have had to suffer more embarrassment while wearing those very tight wrestling outfits...if he had no control over his natural / physical impulses even while wearing his OSHA required...errrrr....protective device!

On the other hand...she looks so skinny that he might have mistaken her for a cub scout.

Oh....what absurdities and degradations we live by and tolerate.

Girls ( and I have two daughters ) should never be allowed to face off a male opponent. Unless of course I supply them with pocket size S&W 380's.

Well put Pris. However....if I was a kid today...I just might say.."screw it". I'm going to treat her like any other opponent.

"I'm going to kick her ass and then see what the libbie loons that placed her in jeopardy" have to say when she's busted as a liberal shill.

What her silly daddy has to say as to why she got her ass kicked. "She was overwhelmed...she was underweight....she didn't have access to the same steroids...."

Liberals...suck canal water. Like alligators.

Ya know...I adore, revere and love women.

I'm of that generation that pulls out chairs for my lady ( actually any lady )....opens doors for my lady....opens the car door for her first while coming or going.

Waits for her to order from the menu first...listens to her opinions....compliments her dress....her hair. And in my youth was just estactic that I had a date!!!!

I've adored and honored women as they deserve to be honored.

I'm a gentleman...a romantic. I always will be when it comes to women.

Women are here to be revered, respected, adored and worshipped.

It will never change for me. Women for this man... are the antidote to apathy and sloveness . I love being challenged and always seeing a women as an escape form the brutality of mankind...not womankind.

Women are the answer to mans inhumanity towards man. Nuff said,

I have a theory about liberals having sex and race/culture mixed up. They find it more important for immigrants to retain their distinct identity than to assimilate to Western culture. But distinctions between sexes are seen as a problem that needs to be cured by merging men and women into an androgenous medium.

I saw that story earlier and agree completely -- the boy is a winner at something that matters a lot more than wrestling.

First things first:

You know that Lifetime will create a cable movie behind the event featuring the cute girl as sexually harassed, belittled, diminished and horribly victimized, whilst her male competitor, who didn't have the guts to wrestle her, will be portrayed as much larger, much more heavily muscled, a bigot, a misogynist, and "yellow" because he secretly knew she could beat him.

Heavy sigh.

Further, you KNOW that RedWood would be correct: let just a little something "touch" another little something in a fashion that the female didn't care for, and the suit would be flying AGAINST the school and the boy wrestler.

That aside, I'd say: just get in there and demolish her. No hedging points, no holding back. If she gets hurt, big deal. Treat her with the same deference reserved for boy wrestlers. Women want complete equality then they should GET complete equality; nothing "halfway." You're either the same or you're not.

...Would it be too cynical to say that the boy in question simply didn't want to be a laughing-stock among his friends for fighting a girl, let alone winning or losing? But perhaps kids in America are first "American", Liberal, conservative ... and then kids.

Speaking of which, I was reminded of perhaps one of the greatest American novels, To Kill a Mocking Bird ... a girl named Scout in particular and the beating she gives to Walter Cunningham. But perhaps she wasn't as "American" as I previously thought, or a liberal perhaps.

Miss Maudie may like to have a word with you Z. ... "You don't kill a mocking bird", she might say. :)

Put her on the injured list a few times and see if her school and her parents really wants to insure her wrestling "career."

Disqualification from a single match vs. putting rasslin' girl in the hospital so she's not at the next match.

No brainer.

Pushing the idea of absolute equality of the sexes really is a Communist Plot.

People who impersonate other posters and sign false names to inane, untrue, vicious remarks also qualify as classic useful idiots whose essential depravity and anti-social attitudes work to tear apart the fabric of society and undermine its foundation.

Wonder just what a hormone test on her would show?

The whole concept is ludicrous at best. I remember some years ago a woman wanted to be a field goal kicker. I wonder if she's out of the hospital yet? Sorry, but I'm sick of women in male teams' locker rooms, commenting on sports about which they seem to know little, or demanding equality without carrying a full load. And if comments are made that they don't like, they scream bloody murder. I'm no libber by any stretch.

The answer to this sham, is, all the young men refusing to participate. A boycott of the tournament.

They're in a lose, lose, predicament anyway, so at least they can take a stand and hold their heads up.

This would make the entire event meaningless, which is essentially what it is anyway.

Haven't you guys put up with this nonsense long enough?

Isn't the subject of this article akin to the much larger question posed by those who advocate the idea of women serving in combat?

Since the crypto-Marxist agenda has been determined to undo Western Civilization by attacking Christianity, the family, cherished cultural traditions, beloved customs, mores, and long-accepted norms on all fronts -- through education, information, entertainment, publishing -- and by heavily censored public discourse through the creation of myriad taboos, "hate crimes," "thought crimes" and other forms of political correctness inimical to open, honest communication -- it's only natural that fostering an atmosphere that makes it appear shameful, reprehensible and possibly criminal even to notice egregiously unpleasant, destructive aspects of falsely venerated minorities and celebrated victim groups-- or to question the motives behind intellectually aggressive "reform" movements -- would eventually hold sway.

This story is just another among tens of thousands of examples appearing every day that the left has been hugely successful at portraying black as white, up as down, south as north, east as west, bad as good, and truth as falsehood, etc.

What's more they've been even more successful at planting false friends among groups of like-minded people who create waves of dissension and disunity through the persistent use of calumny, libel, slander and relentless vilification -- a tactic long advocated by Antonio Gramschi, the Frankfurt School and Saul Alinsky -- among others.

Divide and conquer is one of the chief strategies of our enemies as is the shameless use of deceit which is regarded as a virtue by the Semitic cultures of the Middl East.

Virtually all these stories we mull over every day come about because of the web woven by the loosely organized cabal of disparate elements -- Communists, Muslims, International Bankers, Owners and Suppliers of Raw Material and ruthlessly ambitious Tycoons -- who fully intend to establish a One World Socialist Dictatorship run by this self-appointed cabal of would-be Oligarchs.

As Glenn Beck says: Don't believe me. Do your own research. There's abundant evidence easily found that might yet save us, if only enough people become aware.

"There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking at the root."

"Men will lie on their backs, talking about the fall of man, and never make an effort to get up."

This is liberal PC nonsense running amok. If they had enough girls who wanted to wrestle other girls then so be it. But to schedule matches between boys and girls is ludicrous. This is bad on so many levels. The girl won a hollow victory and has nothing to be happy about. I'm sure her parents are each a piece of work to allow it.

The boy may have won the moral high road, but I'm sure he would've appreciated winning a real match.

Faith said...

The boy's refusal to wrestle her for the reasons he gave is the position I'd like to see everyone here support too. This idea that he should wrestle her the same as he'd wrestle another boy just perpetuates the unisex philosophy, but insisting on treating women as women even when they aren't acting as women sends a more powerful message. Besides, we don't know what the girl's philosophy is. It could be that her family pushed her in that direction and she'd be grateful to be treated with male gallantry.

Anonymous said...

There's no reason that girls can't be limited to wrestling girls, and boys against boys.
------
There may not have been a girls' team available, or a girls' league, I should say.
Until there is, she's doing the next best thing.
I don't think it's radical leftism, I think it's a human being doing what she loves. I think it's a shame that he forfeited and that she won by default.
If I were her, I would've declined the win.

I wish there were female wrestling leagues, and every other sport. There's no reason for there not to be.

Why do we jump to "feminazi" when a human who happens to be female does something that is traditionally a male dominated activity?

Am I a feminazi for driving? I guess I would be back in the day.
How about wearing pants?
Is it okay to throw the ball with my son?
Can I argue politics....with MEN??

oh man, the possiblities are endless...

If we stop looking at her as a FEMALE (which I know is difficult), and see her as a person, then we'll see that she's just accomplishing her goals, just like the boy wrestler.

The main problem is that there's no league for girls.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

Well, there's no reason for their not to be, aside from lack of general interests. If there should ever be a surge in females wanting to wrestle, enough to support a league, I'd say go for it. Just don't make a co-ed contact sport. Wrestling, football, hockey, basketball... no.

Baseball, bowling, tennis, or any other non-contact, sub-athletic activity, sure, mix the sexes.

Why do we jump to "feminazi" when a human who happens to be female does something that is traditionally a male dominated activity?

Eh, not "we." Just those intimidated by women. Hence, the "-nazi" suffix to paint with.

Am I a feminazi for driving? I guess I would be back in the day.

ROFLMAO! And whoomp there it is.

If we stop looking at her as a FEMALE (which I know is difficult), and see her as a person, then we'll see that she's just accomplishing her goals, just like the boy wrestler. The main problem is that there's no league for girls.

And, among girls, there's likely no general desire for one.

How many girls are wrestling for their high schools in America? I'd say less than 10 all over the country, just to be on the safe side.

Can't start a league without players.

Ducky's here said...

Jen, so you agree with having a guy wrestle a girl in high school? Or feel there should be a girl's team of wrestlers?

Ducky, we're not talking about his faith here. He mentioned that and, of course, it's reassuring to think young people even have faith let alone actually put it to the test so respectably, but we're mostly talking about men and women and I think the commenters are correct in suggesting that this is one sport where maybe it's not such a great idea.

Anonymous said...

Sometimes it's embarrassing to be a "conservative".

I honestly don't see why allowing one person to persue their goals requires the destruction of another person.

I'm not for women in combat.

I'm not for mixing contact sports, if there's a girls' league.

But until there is....STEADY ON!

It amazes me how some men AND women are terrified of women.

No wonder feminism (in it's worst form) has thrived and done damage in this country. We can be our own worst enemy.

Anonymous said...

Z, I'm all for it until she has the option of an all-girls wrestling team.

Z said...

Jen, I have to disagree but obviously respect and am interested in hearing your opinion.

Is this a Conservative viewpoint thing, you think? I guess I'm so big on femininity and respect for it that the closeness and violence of wrestling fights with my own sensibilities.
No girl should be held back from doing what she wants and I hope they do have women's wrestling for her soon. WHy don't they? I suppose because most girls don't want to wrestle anybody let alone boys. But, I don't know that for sure..I sure wouldn't have.

And who's destroying anybody?

I just admire a young man who feels like maybe he'd hurt her or touch her in an inappropriate way (and he would in that sport) ... whatever. Men are stronger...that's just a fact.
I kind of like to think there still are inappropriate places for kids to touch, but these days with what's going on, maybe not!

Anonymous said...

Yes, in general men are stronger.
The thing is, it's just as inappropriate for boys to touch each other in those places (outside of the wrstling ring).

Why isn't there a girl's team yet? Because like Beamish said, there's not enough interest. There also wasn't a golf team at one point, or a basketball team, etc.

Even if she's the only one on the team, and the school has to fly her across the country to compete against other girls, so be it. Let the girl compete...right?

Who's detroying whom?

It seems to me that there's a distinctly hostile atmosphere towards the high school female wrestler in many of these comments.

It's creepy to me when people are so threatened by a high schooler.

But then again, I know that's not the real issue...

I don't see this as a parallel for women in combat.

I think there's always a way to work it out, but there are some in our society who get their hackles up when women step out of the "traditional" roles.

It's interesting....many "conservatives" seem to rage against feminism, but how many successful conservative women would be where they are today were it not for the advances that women have made over the centuries?

Anonymous said...

I don't have a problem with the boy at all.
I don't know what his motives were for forfeiting.

As a former basketball player (who would scrimmage against the boys varsity team for practice, ugh), I'm thinking that the girl knew she might get her butt kicked by the guy.

I can't imagine her dad filing suit or claiming sexual harrassment for anything that would happen in the ring. That's silly.

Whey guys would set a pick on us, we didn't scream "He TOUCHED ME!".
We were playing ball.
We gave them hell.
They bloodied us up a few times.

Then we'd get cleaned up and all go out for pizza and have a good time.

No biggie.

Z said...

Well, Jen, you make excellent points for why you feel like you do and you're certainly not alone.

I believe a woman who does the same job as a man should get the same pay...feminism stops there for me.
I like a door opened, I like a beautiful dress to be admired, I like it ALL! And seeing teenaged girls wearing exactly the same T shirt and ripped jeans as their male counterparts hurts...it's sloppy, TO ME it's not uplifting and it puts genitalia as the only way a girl is ..female. I think that's scary.

Anonymous said...

I like a door opened, I like a beautiful dress to be admired, I like it ALL!

Me, too. :-)

to me, feminine is more than appearance, or behavior. It's wild, untamed creativity; mystery, wonder, loyalty, nurturing, courage in suffering, and so much more.

I respect your difference of opinion, Z.

Z said...

Me, too, like I said above, Jen.

Wrestling with men is probably a great and fun challenge to some girls and I think women should accept and confront challenges which interest them......

I can't quite explain my feelings...I guess I'm old fashioned (and OLD!) enough to feel this boy made the right decision because he doesn't think of women like that and maybe kind of admires their femininity and that he doesn't want to hurt her or be inappropriate or ..heck, maybe he was afraid SHE'D WIN! I don't know! :-)

I agree.

But you also can't learn wrestling without taking an ass-whoopin or a hundred along the way.

If *I* were that girl, and truly interested in being a wrestler, I too would have refused the win by forfeit, and perhaps wrestled the guy who wanted to ditch out of that segment of the tournament anyway, at least until enough people pulled me off of the wimp.

Conversely, if *I* were the girl, and truly interested in being a wrestler, I would HURT anyone I fought in the ring that didn't take me seriously, and expect to be HURT by any wrestler in competition that I didn't take seriously. This is as it should be.

This is what I meant earlier by respectfully putting the girl in the hospital a few times to see if she's got what it takes to pursue her "dream."

I'm somehow reminded of the old Olympic wrestling joke about the guy who was wrapped up in a hold he couldn't escape by the perennial Gold medal champion and saw a testicle hanging in his face and decided to bite it to get the hold on him broken. Immediately the hold was broken and the Gold medal champion opponent thrown completely across the ring. But the biter rolled on the mat in agony, having bitten his own testicle. ;)

I'd like to think this girl got to where she was in the tournament by unqestionably beating opponents that gave her everything they had.

This guy that forfeited psyched himself out, hoping he wouldn't have to face her, rather than viewing her as just another legitmate target to destroy.

Hopefully, she still gives her opponents the courtesy of viewing them as legitimate targets to destroy.

That's competition.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

That all said, I as spectator don't want to see a female getting manhandled and roughed up by a male even if she's giving as good as she's getting.

A women's wrestling league will form when there's truly a niche for it. Or enough females create one.
