Sunday Faith Blog

"While America faces many threats to its sovereignty and security from the outside, the greatest menace comes from the deterioration of its moral fiber within.  Patrick Henry recognized this peril when he wrote in 1799:

"....the great pillars of all government and of social life...(are)virtue, morality and religion.  This is the armor, my friend, and this alone, that renders us invincible.  These tactics we should study.   If we lose these, we are conquered indeed."
King David declared: "Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God."  (Psalm 20:7)
It will take more than a larger defense budget, better military preparedness and superior weapons to provide for our security.   It's time to remember the protective nature of godly character.

from "It's Time to Remember, America!  Connecting the Past with the Present"  by Michael R. Myers.

John Quincy Adams said "So great is my veneration for the Bible that the earlier my children begin to read it the more confident will be my hope that they will prove useful citizens of their country and respectable members of society.  I have for many years made it a practice to read through the Bible once every year."

Have a good Sunday.....let's all think about godly character and consider the the words above.  America's children must be taught.

Wise words.

For those who need a simpler explanation, here's what my drill instructor told us in basic training:

"Locks are for honest people."

Think about how much of our society's proper functioning relies upon basic honesty.

A lying, thieving immoral (or even amoral) people have fitted themselves for tyranny, giving government the pretext to station "Homeland Security" officials at every portal and empowering police to stop and search anyone at will since we are all suspect.

60's radicals thought they were throwing off an oppressive morality, only to find they've invited in something much worse.

Beautifully said and very well written. It give one a lot to think about.

Too bad Tony Perkins and his ilk at the so called Values Voter Summit don't understand the difference in men having godly character and man being forced to bow to a man made agenda while claiming it to be from "gawd".

This says it all. However I don't regard these as tactics, I regard them as values and a belief system which must be imbued in our children beginning at an early age, through the examples and teachings of their parents and other role models.

In doing that, they will have the strength, inbred, to maintain this during their lives, no matter what efforts to dispel these beliefs and values, may be thrust at them.

It begins at home and is carried on through faith, and deep
conviction. It is armor, in a sense, against temptation to stray from this foundation.

There are times we may weaken, but are drawn back to our core beliefs, because we know in our hearts, what is right.

Thanks Z, this is a great post, and much food for thought.

“…the greatest menace comes from the deterioration of its moral fiber within.” This is the leftist agenda.

Wonderful quotes.

Ah, to speak to these men now, and/or to have them stand in the Capitol and speak to what passes as leadership today.

if they destroy the moral fiber, we're open game, Mustang.
Families don't count anymore...you can't survive without strong traditional families being the gold standard

Brooke, Amen to that.
Today, they'd be tarred and feathered for their beliefs..
Political Correctness would kill them.

"you can't survive without strong traditional families being the gold standard"

And that's precisely what must be destroyed first. The way the commies did...the way the Pol Pots did...the way Hitler did with his SS.

The state is what matters to the collective. It's parts...not it's core. Funny...the muslims ought to be lined up in the conservative TParty movement. It is they who now have these huge family's and values that will / must be crushed too for the leftists to succeed.

But given a glimpse of the social retards, regressives, pigs without a shred of morality...these creatures that occupy whatever....can be easily defeated with....bathing.

Put it another way, take Christianity out and inevitably you won't have a meaningful defense budget, you'll end up with inferior weapons and you'll be largely defenseless and weak in the face of even pathetic threats.

You'll also become a less free society, and in many cases you also end up dabbling in various forms of evil.

Forsake him and you forsake your own future and the future generations.
