ROMNEY/RYAN!!

Posted late last night:
By 9AM EST, we'll know who's running with Romney.......if you're here before the announcement, who do you think it'll be?   I'm hoping for PAUL RYAN.

If you come here after the announcement.....

WHAT'S YOUR OPINION OF THE PICK AND WHY?

Posted this morning...

Fingers crossed for Ryan as well.

Multiple reasons:
- Understands a budget. I know it sounds simple but it looks like in DC they don't understand that 0 - 10 is actually minus 10
- Young
- Very good communicator. He can explain things simply.
- On a panel he scored high with Democrats and independents b/c he communicated well
- He's genuine. There aren't many politicians whose face expresses genuineness and actual concern.

He's been my favorite since day 1.

NBC and the AP are reporting early this morning that Paul Ryan is the VP pick.

My personal preference was Bobby Jindal.

Always On Watch said...

I'm okay with Paul Ryan as VP.

As for dismantling Medicare (as Beamish mentioned)...ain't gonna happen. Bankruptcy, as in belly up with no salvaging it. of the Medicare trust is the only way that Medicare will disappear.

Medicare does offer substantial benefits. However, it ain't free. We're spending about $700/month + $100/month in paratransit fares right now, now that Mr. AOW is back into PT and OT. This therapy is actually working! We can't believe it!

Once Mr. AOW is able to move around, he can to back to work part time -- we hope. At least, that is the goal for us. At the least, we'll be getting rid of the potty chair in the living room after -- Lo! -- nearly three years. YEEHAW!

The previous therapy that Mr. AOW got through out private policy never worked toward those goals. Never!

FB,
I don't know all that much about Paul Ryan. Due to circumstances here, I decided not to do any research about candidates until I knew who they were.

Off to do some research right now!

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

At least Romney didn't decide on a Senator to be his VP running mate. There's 23 Democrat Senator seats up for grabs (virtually none of them will flip) and having one less Republican in the Senate only helps the Democrats more.

I'm not all that fond of Paul Ryan. As one of the "leaders" of the fight against nationalized Romneycare, I have to measure the success of that "leadership."

We have nationalized Romneycare now. What other fights do you want this Tea Party twit fighting for you?

Don't worry, Paul Ryan has a plan to send the bill to the rich people living in 2045.

According to Fox News this morning the choice is Ryan. This is the comment I'm leaving everywhere today on Romney's choice:

Romney just went up a notch in my book. This the type of decission I would expect from a good corporate He picked a man that is smart, knowledgeable, and will be an effective contributor to the executive team. They complement each other in many ways. Romney is a big picture gut and Ryan is a detail guy. Romney is a bit of an elitest and Ryan is not. Ryan has been in Congress since 1999. He has no home or even an apartment in DC. He sleeps on a cot in his office and after the last vote on Thursday each week he heads home where his pick-up truck is parked at the airport waiting for him. men are devoted family men. Romney might have picked someone who would havebeen more helpful in the campaign to get himself elected; but he picked someone who will be a great asset if he is elected. Neither man is as bold as I would like them to be on policy; but, all in all I think we have a pretty good teaam.

The administration has already been throwing mud at Romney. Now they'll be flinging excrement. I can hear it now "Ooooo, Romney picked a MAN, a WHITE, MAN. A WHITE, MAN who throws grandmas off cliffs!Ooooo"

In some ways I wish Ryan would stay in the House where he can do a lot of good, Alan West would have made the racialists in the Dem Party pee in their pants. However, it is what it is and I hope the pick will energize the ticket. Romney is a decent man, but he just hasn't fired me up so far. I hope he ratchets it up.

The Biden - Ryan debates will be fun to watch. Joe won't know what hit him.

in my judgment, Mitt Romney has everything it takes to win this election.
And this was an excellent choice . You can tell a lot about this man by the people he has around him. Romney is confident enough and secure enough with himself that he can pick the best and brightest. Obama on the other hand must pick those that can't outshine him and are driven by his socialist ideology.

Thersites...so you're voting for Obama. WOW

No, I'm voting FOR the best candidate, regardless of how "popular" the average American believes him to be. If Johnson wins, America will be a better place at the end of his term. There will exist millions more small, independent business throughout the country. If Romney wins, we'll have millions less small business, and a few thousand more mega-corporations. And then one fine day, the democrats will merge those ever fewer remaining independent oasis' of liberty into one giant hive, and fully realize President Obama's dream... so a vote FOR Romney is a vote FOR eventual socialism. It's only a question of time in a "progressive" evolution...

The founding fathers are rolling in their graves at thoughts of Romney.

Z said...

Scary that this audience wildly cheered all their lies and  vague crap for that matter.

By announcing today, he got that "Romney killed my wife" video off the air and gives reporters something new to talk about.

I listened to Juan Williams bemoaning the fact that “Now Romney’s done it. He’s gone and unleashed a fire storm with the Obama Progressives.” And he went on to say a Ryan pick is exactly what Obama wanted.

What an idiot. Obama wanted nothing of the kind. Given his filthy ads, he wanted a Coup d'état. He would have preferred a weak Romney challenge.

Instead, Obama has a fight on his hands—and Romney/Ryan picked it. WE must have this fight because America is still worth fighting for —and we need to have an “in your face” contest with the people who hate America most: Obama progressives. It is time we stopped running from bad news. Obama and the morons who elected him have royally screwed our country. It’s time to take America back from the Abyss of socialism. So yes … let’s have that fight. And let’s win it!

BTW, there's a number of Christians who won't vote for a Mormon, I've heard them.
There's a guy who does surveys, George Barna, who a while back did a survey of members of various denominations.

Mormons were ahead of Episcopalians and Catholics.

The survey shows that more Mormons (34%) rely on Christ as their only hope of heaven and opposed to Catholics (25%) and Episcopalians (30%) and so the odds are greater that you'll find yourself in soteriological agreement with a random Mormons than either of the other two.
(Soteriology is the study of religious doctrines of salvation.)

Let's face it, guys, President Obama and Vice President Biden are in way over their heads. Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan know how to add, they do not. When they start with their demagoguery, trickery and outright misrepresentations, Romney and Ryan will have the facts & figures to eviscerate them. There is no place for Obama to hide, the truth is that his economy SUCKS!!!! And if he gets another term, we're doomed. Everybody with an IQ over 70 knows it! This crap about punishing the rich is failure for everybody. The rich have the resources to defend and avoid the pain, to pivot out of the way, leaving the rest of us to take the economic hits. The middle class are the ones beaten to a pulp by President Obama and the Democrats. And they damn well know it!

Americans understand the massive mistake they made in electing Barack Obama. They won't make the same mistake again. Mitt Romney's selection of Paul Ryan as his Vice President tells us all he wants a man who understands the seriousness of the federal budget crisis and how to go about solving the monumental problems.

This team has a gigantic bucket of hot, soapy water and huge mops - they're going to clean up this mess! And they're both such good men, personally. And I posted the video. You want to delete the link to it, that's YOUR business. You don't have to look at it, you don't have to click on it.

That video is a big deal. Not only is it not conservative and disgusting, but it also provides ammunitions to the left. Don't complain they think conservatives or Tea Party are racist when you post that kind of video. You help them make their point. It's actually pissing me off.

-FJ the Dangerous and Extreme MAGA Jew said...

Oh my goodness... I might get accused of racism... I guess we had all better leave our senses of humour at the GOP door...

...don't worry, it's NOT one non-Bushes will ever be welcomed into anyway.

Having a sense of humor is great (even though this video is very far from being funny). Giving ammunitions to the opponent is stupid.

Stanley Kowalski said...

Pretending not to laugh is even more damning evidence.

Stanley Kowalski said...

...and given recent false accusations against Romney recently, a few showing Obama is a "negative" light puts it all into perspective.

Z, your comment "The Founding Fathers? They'd be saying "Maybe we're not much for Romney, but we SURE can't take Obama and we've been around enough to know he has to go and you have to do everything possible to assure that." is RIGHT ON TARGET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DAVID WYATT! Hello to you! I hope you're well...and thanks for the support in my thinking.
Blessings to you!

Did you know that "Paul Ryan wants to leave Soc Security to the whims of Wall Street?"

You can't make this stuff up....the left's in OVERDRIVE! :-)

-FJ the Dangerous and Extreme MAGA Jew said...

Oh the poor blacks. Thank goodness the Republicans are sticking up for them or they would be so, SOOOOO mad, they probably wouldn't ever vote for one....

...and I can see tell from their voting patterns how truly appreciative they are of soft racism.

Paul Ryan's plan to push old ladies in wheelchairs over the side of a cliff is inefficient and wasteful of exploitable blood plasma.

Thersites said...

the Fusion conservatives have a plan to kill them AND exploit their blood plasma? Do tell, beamish. Is it like one of those Chinese prisoner "liver for sale" schemes?

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

Oh looky it's the Naderite libertarian for Welfare Statism come to protest his irrelevance.

Everyone wave!

Z said...

oh, damn..
Now the games begin.

Thersites said...

The irrelevance of the fusion conservatives is world renowned, as Romney emerges as their unobjectionable Republican torchbearer almost as effectively as Bob Dole in '96!

Thersites said...

If Ryan is lucky, no one will remember his name in 2020, either.

Can't argue that. Haven't seen much from that coalition since Reagan was elected in 1980.

as Romney emerges as their unobjectionable Republican torchbearer almost as effectively as Bob Dole in '96!

Bob Dole got 40.7% of the vote. Romney won't get half of that.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

On the plus side, it removes a Tea Party leftist from the House Budget Committee chairmanship.

Thersites said...

Well, at least we agree on that.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

Ryan introduced a plan to balance the budget over twenty years, which is around 525,950 slower than Newt Gingrich balanced the budget last time it was balanced.

"Conservative" standards have fallen.

Thersites said...

Ryan was in the Tea Party Caucus? Who knew? I thought Ryan voted FOR the fusion conservative TARP too big to fail crony capitalism bill....

Thersites said...

Calling Romney's stalking horse in the 2012 primaries a "Conservative" shows just how far they've fallen.

That's the TARP bill championed by the Tea Party leftists Rick Perry and Herman Cain, right?

Calling Romney's stalking horse in the 2012 primaries a "Conservative" shows just how far they've fallen.

Romney spent nearly a quarter-billion dollars smearing Gingrich because he was a "stalking horse?"

Dood, what are you smoking?

Thersites said...

Don't get me wrong, beamish, I really admire the fusion conservatives like Newt. They've perfected lemon socialism. THat's why they are able to find so much "common ground" with the Obama Democrats.

Thersites said...

Sheldon Adelson had a LOT of money. Just ask Romney... after all, who's going to ensure his gambling livenses get renewed if crony capitalism were allowed to fail?

I guess you're not the one currently under investigation for paying kickbacks to government officials in Macao.

Buying political gratitude can be expnsive.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

Sheldon Adelson had a LOT of money.

So Romney devoted most of his primary campaign resources to defeating a somewhat well-financed opponent with smearing attack ads because that opponent was a stalking horse runing interference for him?

So who wasted their money, Sheldon Adleson or Romney?

Are you even familiar with what being coherent feels like?

Thersites said...

Crony capitalism is expensive, beamish. Gratitude can be VERY expensive.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

What would Sheldon Adelson have to show "gratitude" to Romney about?

You're not making any sense.

Thersites said...

Think Soros could have cared whether Hillary OR Barack won the nomination in 2008?

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

Adelson has to pay (invest?) "gratitude" to a Presidential candidate who isn't elected and has less than a snowball's chance in Hell of ever being so to get him out of trouble with an Obama administration that won't take a bribe?

Doesn't this argument of yours require Rod Serling to narrate?

Thersites said...

It was win-win for the crony capitalists either way.

Thersites said...

Adelson's only problem in backing Romney is that he has to share favoritism with others...with Gingrich he had a monopoly...

Thersites said...

In Maryland, the Democrats are backing some of Adelson's competitors. when Romney loses the election in 2012' Adelson will be literally THROWING his money at Md Governor Martin O'Malley... who WILL be the DNC nominee in 2016.

Thersites said...

Even the local mayoral politicians are SWIMMING in crony capital... and why not? It's a license to print money.

Thank you Mitt Romney, thank you for picking Paul Ryan for your Vice President candidate. . It's a little easier for us to pull the lever for Mitt now but of course I was going to anyway. Mitt, we needed this.

I think Ryan is a wise choice, and even better, a bold one. It's shows that he wants to keep the campaign focused where it belongs, on the economy, the deficit, and the insupportable size and insufferable reach of government.
