Obama...WHY APOLOGIZE?

Have we come to the point in this country that Obama has to be criticized for complimenting a woman's looks?   HERE is the full story.  Are we nuts?  I didn't take offense at that!

I have to admit I think Florida's Attorney General Pam Bondi is quite beautiful, too.

But, for Obama to feel he had to apologize is just stupid and I'm sorry he was forced to do that.  He said "California has the best looking Attorney General", he didn't call her a BABE!

By the way, I'm so into national politics I don't remember hearing Kamala Harris' name and I live in California!  She's our first female and first Black AG....pretty cool.  I'd probably like her if we agreed on one thing, which we probably don't :-)

Do you think Obama should have apologized?

"Do you think Obama should have apologized?"

No, I think that he should quit! OK, HA, HA! He's a POS but, somehow, some women think that he is cute; go figure! Bedtime, good night.

She's Black?

Stunning. And Yes, Pam is a looker too. There, I said it.

I'm sure that to the feminine eye, there are many good looking state AGs out there who are male.
Obama was trying to ensure us of his masculinity, like with that posed shotgun photo.
"The lady doth protest too much".
Why did he feel it necessary to comment on her looks (risk offending Moochelle)?
That aside, the real problem the left has with his comment is that it notices a distinction between the genders.
Notice THAT and gay marriage goes away.

From Obama's 'best-looking' remark was sexist at CNN:

...ust ask Brent Musburger. In January, after the BCS National Championship game, the ESPN commentator came under fire in the media and blogosphere. At issue: off-handed comments that Musburger made about University of Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron's girlfriend, Katherine Webb.

Ruben Navarrette Jr.

ESPN issued an apology, saying that the 73-year-old veteran sportscaster "went too far" in his commentary. In an interview with the New York Times, Michigan State University journalism professor Sue Carter called what Musburger said "extraordinarily inappropriate." On the sports news website, BleacherReport.com, Jessica Isner suggested that his remarks were, at the least, "weird and creepy."

It went on and on.

So what did Musburger say back then that was so terrible? As the camera focused on Webb, a former Miss Alabama, in the stands, the sportscaster turned to his co-announcer Kirk Herbstreit, a former quarterback at Ohio State University, and said: "You quarterbacks, you get all the good-looking women. What a beautiful woman."

The cad.

Was this an overreaction? And did Musburger get a bum rap? Yes, and yes. But not many people said so at the time. Instead, the dominant narrative was that a public figure had succumbed to voyeurism and was essentially "hitting on" this young woman.

By contrast, Obama isn't catching much criticism for a similar comment that he made Thursday during a swing through California. The wince-inducing remark may have been nothing more than innocent banter between old friends, as Obama supporters claimed. But it is also undeniably sexist.

How do we know? Because the comment objectifies a professional woman, and it is not something that you're likely to hear said about a man with the same credentials....

I'm not saying that I agree with all of the above.

But what is interesting is that some in the msm who used to carry Obama's water aren't doing so now. Along those same lines, also see THIS POST over at Mike's America.

Now that Obama is serving a second term, he may not be as much the Teflon Man as he previously w

I want the POTUS to stop being so colloquial and to stop appearing on late night TV, too. Political leadership is a serious matter -- or supposed to be.

I have absolutely no use for this president, but I think this is empty of content. He was just teasing, it wasńt a sexist remark, she wasn’t offended, so lets not play the same PC game that the Left does. Anyway with his choices of Hillary Clinton, Janet Napolitano, and Michelle Obama, it is obvious that he has a very poor taste in women.
So who really cares is he apologizes or not.

Ed Bonderenka said...

There is a difference between men and women.
You know it, I know it.
Yet there are those who deny it to bring about a change in society that they envision.
In a very real Orwellian sense, you too must not notice the difference or the house of cards collapses.

A wise old aunt once told me:

If you hope to get through life reasonably unscathed follow these simple rules:

1. Never COMPLAIN.

2. Never EXPLAIN.

3. Never APOLOGIZE.

4. Never VOLUNTEER.

I would add: Never speak ill of your fellow man in public -- or if you're anywhere near a microphone or video-camera. ;-)

Saying someone's good looking is sexist now? People are sick in the head. You say someone is an amazing athlete, they say you're implying he's dumb. You say she's good looking, you're implying that's how she got the job. They see bad subtext everywhere. They make a living on finding problems and bad subtext in the media. I'm sick of it. That wasn't very presidential from Obama but give him a break on this one.

Anonymous said...

I'm just glad my wife likes when I compliment on her look instead of saying "What do you need from me?" when I say it.

3,000 years from now, archeologists will be digging through our bones and suddenly, someone will exclaim, "Holy crap ... I found the remains of liberal man. They had idiots back then, too!"

Who are the media to make claims of sexism? Every single thing we see on television, what we see in newspapers, what we read in magazines, is sexist. It is all predicated on how attractive people look (except for Candy Crowley, of course).

What a bunch of hypocrites the media are.

Z said...

Always on Watch, I couldn't disagree more.

Ed...they've been friends for a long time and he's probably always mentioned her looks to her as friends, and it came out.

It seems so benign to me...as I said in my post, it wasn't crude, it wasn't "Babe" or anything near that.

I agree, this IS Orwellian...Democrats really hate when gender comes up; we're all supposed to be one gender these days, aren't we.

FOLKS:
I made a promise to delete Libmann and I just had to do it again today; sorry that you've responded to him. I only mention this so people know he WAS here when they read your comments!

Imagine him not reading the post enough to think it's Republicans who slammed him? It is mostly the Democrats! (See Sue Hanes' comment, as a matter of fact).

Obama was introducing her at a dinner of friends and supporters, not on television as he gave her an appointment or anything. I found it sweet.
I am not threatened by having by the old fashioned situation of separate genders (call me silly :-)

beamish; that single mother thing REALLY stunned me and got much less press than this. Imagine? And the lefty women apologists are saying they feel like single mothers when their husband's around, too...DO THEY SAY "I'm a single mother?" NEVER, but they tell us they do. typical.

Jack: You bring up a point I was going to discuss, thanks:
Maybe calling her nice looking was just in shock when one compares most Democrat women like(as you say)Crowley, Clinton, Napolitano, Helen Thomas, etc etc........:-)

Sue, I honestly would have SO MUCH more honored Obama for NOT apologizing even if the heat got worse. What a thing, to cave for having complimented his friend in such a kind, benign way.

FrogBurger, it's NUTS, isn't it.

Ed..."race trader"...poor Libmann . I noticed that and wondered, too.

Z said...

Imp! "a looker" ???HOW DARE YOU? :-) As a man THESE DAYS, you're not supposed to notice or comment when a woman is particularly pretty. (is that nuts, or what?)

JohBerg...ya, quitting, I'd have accepted. But apologizing? that's crazy.

Z said...

Always, I do agree that it's not something we hear from a male politician type. But, who'd care if some woman President introduced Scott Brown and said "...the smart, productive, and not a little handsome, Scott Brown!?"

By the way, as much as I'm not against Obama's comment, I have ALWAYS maintained that it's unseemly when male types KISS female types...

Like Pres Obama kissing Napaolitano when he introduces her...or John Kerry kissing Hillary Clinton....or when they'd always kiss Pelosi tho she as SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE.

You wouldn't find the president kissing a male Speaker, would you!?

But the compliment was SO off handed and so benign, that doesn't bug me one bit.

ED, you have a point, but I'm not sure Obama's smart enough to have said it to make himself look more masculine :-)

Pris said...

Good grief,
So now it's sexist to compliment a woman on her looks? Give me a break!

How about this: Former Senator Scott Brown filled in for O'Reilly the other night, and I say, he's a handsome man. He also did a good job!
So now, one owes an apology for being complimentary?

Since when can't a pretty woman be efficient, or smart? How ridiculous to make a big deal about this.

I certainly see why you feel as you do. Again, I just disagree.

Pris, we discussed Scott Brown the other night, remember (either on the phone or via email?) And we both mentioned how well Scott Brown did on FOX the other night and that he was a good looking man?
As you say, it didn't take away a bit from how good a job he did, right??!!

Kid and Redneck, I have to say I don't believe Michelle is an ugly woman but I'll admit that the makeup people have REALLY done a great job making her more attractive.
Now if they can get her clothes to better flatter her figure, that would be good.

I don't like the new bangs...they're too thick and you can't see her eyes. If they'd been a little less thick, it would have worked pretty well, I think.

It is important that a First Lady be somewhat attractive and well groomed. Laura Bush was the perfect example of that. Although I'd have liked her to have broken out of that ubiquitous beige pant suit from time to time!

NancyReagan was a perfectly dressed First Lady...America wants our First Ladies to represent us well. Dressing like Mrs. Obama in slinky silver stretch leggings just doesn't work. She's too old for that look anyway, and it is embarrassing.
Usually, she's dressed fine, but there's a figure flaw they play up instead of playing down and I don't get that.

You sir, are not an American.

I will tell you what it means to be an American. I’m not speaking for every American, I’m speaking for the ideals our Founding Fathers instilled in us. Freedom, justice, liberty. Are you aware of what each of these mean? Do you know what it means to be a Patriot? As a President, you’re our leader. As a leader of a Nation, the people of that Nation need to be your number ONE priority. Americans. You’re number one priority is to keep us safe. So, when radicals are attacking an embassy and FOUR Americans are requesting help, you send help. You don’t go to sleep, you don’t fly to Vegas, you don’t tell anyone to stand down, you don’t blame it on a video and you sure as hell should have some compassion, when they die…Because of you.

You are a sorry excuse for a leader, you are no American Patriot. You don’t send aid and our tax dollars to support a Muslim Brotherhood that are enemies of everything we stand for. You don’t tell Russia who supports Iran, Syria and the Brotherhood that you’ll have more flexibility after the election. You support the Occupy movement and you said so yourself. The Occupy movement, the enemies of the Constitution? You don’t support the racism of whites by walking with Black Panthers and listening to a “Reverend” that hates America. You don’t say that the Constitution is flawed, racist and imperialistic. You don’t expand the power of the executive branch and you sure as hell don’t take more and more freedoms and liberty away from the American people.

Patriotism? Please…. The only goal you have is to destroy America economically. Record debt, deficit, and the number of people on welfare is up 17 million? If spending 4 trillion in 8 years is unpatriotic, spending 6 trillion in 4 is anti-American. Socialism is not welcome. To call yourself “not socialist” is extremely ridiculous and untrue. I would also like to know why you sued Arizona and chose lawlessness and open boarders over the citizens of Arizona.

Why do you continue to lie to us? We have more pieces to this Benghazi puzzle then you have lies. Tell the truth and face the music like a man. A man who cares about the better of the nation. You said you would find and prosecute the people responsible for this attack. You received an email that night explaining who did this, they admitted it! You will not seek justice for any of them. An ambassador, 2 Navy Seals, and an Air Force Sec ops are dead. This should fill you with rage and compassion. Compassion for those who have died and those families who have lost someone and rage for those who have committed this atrocity. You know why you have neither of these? Because you could have prevented this and you did nothing. This is YOUR fault.

You’re bringing my Country down and this cannot continue. I pray that Americans will wake up, and that you may be impeached. Our economy, our defense, our military and everything is weaker. If I hated America I would love to have you as President. But you know I don’t, I love this Country and so do millions of other Americans who will stand with me. You have until January to take away the rest of our freedoms and liberties away, and to ruin this country as much as possible. And then a Real American will move into the White House. Why are folks like Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, Chris Christie, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, REAL Americans? They all have one thing in common, they believe in limited Govt., Free Market, Freedom, Liberty, A strong Military, Low Taxes. And they really LOVE America. I think by know you realize I’m talking about all the things you’re against. Being American doesn’t mean you were born here, it doesn’t matter what the color of your skin is, it doesn’t matter what gender or by what name you call God. It’s about being Free. And Americans will make sure it stays that way.

YYou just gotta love Liberals, first, they attack the Holidays and demand that any holiday symbols like the Christmas tree should be called a Holiday tree and the Hanukkah menorah should be called a Holiday menorah. I have not heard demands of any changes for the Kwanzaa kinara as Holiday kinara.
I know, that Santa is a myth but what the hell! Enjoying the season requires no belief in religions or superstitions.
What's next? Any patriotic holiday such as Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day and Veteran's Day should be renamed because it may offend non-Americans? Like the case where a teacher disciplined his student because he drew an American flag for his art project.
If liberals don't like these holidays, that's fine; keep your beliefs to yourself; don't ruin it for others who don't share your beliefs. Or, you can just leave the country.
We all shouldn't have to bow to political correctness because of pathetic people who suffer from an inferiority complex. It was liberals who cared that whole hyphenated American BS as a way to highlight that Indians (oh I'm sorry Native Americans)were originally inhabiting the land before the nation was founded and that everybody else are really "secondary" Americans.
Dr Carson mentioned how dangerous these Lefties who follow political correctness are and how it could destroy the country. It's things like this which completely validates him and makes him a target of the left for exposing them.
I don’t normally prowl through the threads of Liberals and Progressives, but I did and I was thoroughly disgusted in reading the horrific comments there. They take advantage of a national tragedy and relish in blaming Bush and/or the Republicans for it.
That pretty much sums it up.
