Obama to Pelosi "...did you do this?" whew!

There's more about his California jaunt than my post below (which I hope you read if you haven't already)...I just read  HERE about a little exchange I found fascinating and copy/pasted below in italics.  By now, you all know that a group of people at a breakfast fundraiser sang to Obama about some things they disagree with him on...:

As the protesters sang, the pool report notes that Obama turned to Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who represents San Francisco, to ask if she was responsible for the interruption. "Nancy, did you do this?" he reportedly asked. Her look said she did not, according to the report.

Z: Obama asked Pelosi if SHE had 'done this'?  REALLY?  I'd like to have seen the 'look' which said she did not, wouldn't you?   I thought that was an astonishing question on his part. Think about it.

The woman who first addressed the president was escorted out of the room and Obama told the crowd "that was a nice song."  He quickly resumed his speech.

"That was a nice song," he said....that's a pretty amazing remark, too.   And the Democrats are appeased by their beloved and he goes on.   And there are people who think he won't win 2012?   good luck.

Z, at this point it is to early to "think" and perhaps some just do not want to. Think about another four years of the obamanation. Can the GOP beat him, according to Huffington Post OF ALL PLACES have guess who??? Mitt Romney a possible victor over Obama! *HEH* I think they are nuts!

That's salve for my soul to even believe it for five minutes, not that I'm such a Romney fan...but I could become one!

Pris, I've been saying for months that he's going to say something horrid in public and he's getting close........
he needs to defeat himself, we sure can't do it with who we've got.

ALTHOUGH, I'm hearing things like Layla's Huffington post info...etc.
Still, there's a LONG time before November 2012 and I'm tired of the bickering already....
even just here at geeeez. REAL tired of it.

Picture Bush having said "did you do this?" on microphone by accident.....ya, picture the outrage.

typical, isn't it?

His tit and tat with the reporter the other day is a good example of a narcissist being pushed a bit farther than their liking. Someday a reporter will push the button just the right way and I have been saying for two years, he will explode, come unglued and the world will see him for what he is. I can't not wait for the day. He will in that way defeat himself. Arrogance is not enough, it will take a complete breakdown and it's coming.

"He's showing a chink in his armor, so let's hope this will be more and more evident over the coming months."

I'm not so sure Pris. This guy gets his "mojo" from being on stage before his adoring ( and ignorant, tone deaf sycophants ) who think he's a rock star.
They have no understanding of politics...it's all about image to them.

And if he stays cool, has a great hook shot, does lots of fist bumping and stays "hip"...even to the ones who are suffering most from inflation and rising gas prices, he'll be hard to beat.

Especially against a stoic, dry, humorless, white bread like Romney. Who in my mind is the quintessential, stereotypical image of a rich Republican.

The country is no longer in the hands of the inovators and job creators Pris...it's in the hands of the anarchists, progressive, Alinsky types ( unions too ) who will forever vote for those who guarantee them a handout from our pockets.

Breitbart SO nailed it again on O'Reilly just now: we live in a world of celebrity (sadly) and none of the Republicans can cut it against Obama's celebrity ....but Trump.
What a sad state of affairs.
BUT, if Trump gets more and more powerful and then decides to support a true Republican, we've got it MADE$$$

gad, where's Reagan when we need him?

Imp, He's not the rock star he was in 2008. And, what I refuse to accept, is defeatism. Whether from you or anyone else.

That's why I'm a tea party member. I won't give up or throw up my hands in frustration.

To tell you the truth, with the election a year and a half away, I'm surprised at this attitude. It's like waving a white flag.

The country is in the hands of the people, and the people think the country is moving in the wrong direction. The people are facing high energy costs, and the private sector is suffering mightily.

So, I'm not wringing my hands. It's time to get ready for a fight.

I would remind you, that in Wisconsin, the judge we wanted to win, won. He won against the thugs, union activism, a huge amount of money, and Obama's army of volunteers.

The tea party was there with money to pay for ads, contributed to from people like me. So have no doubts we will be engaged and active. Join your local Tea Party and if nothing else donate to it.

Anonymous said...

"So, I'm not wringing my hands. It's time to get ready for a fight."

And where do you think that might happen?

Pris said...

"And where do you think that might happen?"

It'll happen in the campaigns, fundraising, rallies, activism, sheer grassroots efforts, and contributions of money big and small, from all over the country.

All I know is, we can get involved or not. If we care enough we can make a difference. You know Imp, I'm right about this. Allen West got great support from the Tea Party btw, and he won. Did you think he would?

Finally my point was, I don't take well to pessimism and grousing, especially when the fight hasn't even barely begun. That's not how a winner thinks. At least not to me.

Pris, it's just an open conversation...I'd hardly call me and Imp losers!!. There aren't two people who'd rather be optimistic about 2012 more than Imp and I would, as you know ~! :-)

Picture Gingrich and Calista...
Pawlenty.....Romney......oh, gad..

Obama will have to do something big and wrong, or the media might have to suddenly get honest; both of which probably won't happen.

Christie or Ryan could get us there, I THINK...or even Rubio (look at Ducky constantly mocking him....meaning he's scaring the poop out of libs) But, he's only 39 and "he's no John Kennedy!"

We need someone who can inspire HISPANIC VOTES like Rubio could...
OR Allan West as VP candidate...a good Black conservative could possibly influence a few Blacks who aren't already Conservatives...
Sadly, Obama gets the young people out and we have to try for that group....I don't see it happening with a Gingrich or Romney...

we'll see....as it is now...if I'M yawning with the Republican people considering running, trust me, Democrats and Indies are ASLEEP.

As a libertarian and conservative, I find it disturbing that people I'd on any other day sincerely believe were capable of outsmarting a Ziploc bag are falling for the publicity stunts of a very liberal, Democrat supporting, serial bankrupt poseur like Donald Trump.

2008 should have been a battle about ideologies, presenting and defending views, and debates between the two.

Instead of coherent presentations of policy and debating the merits of them, we got "look at what his preacher said at church one day" and "he used to work for a guy the FBI didn't charge with domestic terrorism."

Guilt by association is no way to debunk a policy argument.

Obama will win because the Tea Party is working so hard to get him re-elected.

Pris said...

Z, I didn't call anyone losers, I'm saying the campaigns haven't even begun, and we don't know who will come across as serious, and viable as a candidate.

I just feel when one takes it for granted we need a rock star, or we can't win, it sounds defeatist to me.

I can picture Newt. In fact, I think the people may feel they want someone older, and more experienced than Obama. He comes off as a screw up if you ask me.

I happen to think Trump is a flash in the pan. We'll see.

Obama is going to colleges to speak, trying to get young people out, but will they vote this time around? Historically they don't, and Obama is not a new sensation this time.

It'll all shake out I'm sure, but I still say it's too early to be discouraged.

Much as I hate doing so, I've been watching Obama on television lately. Look at his eyes. Maybe I'm wrong, but I perceive that he's on the edge. He has such a wild look in his eyes these days.

Always On Watch said...

Beamish,
Trump is saying so many of "the right things" the past few weeks.

Those of us who oppose Obama and what he's doing to America have feelings of desperation.

I'll tell you what I'm most worried about: I don't see anyone in the GOP field right now to garner 51%!

The best hope the GOP seems to have for winning in 2012 is that Obama will alienate enough of his supporters that many of them will sit out the election. But how often do Dems sit out an election? Less often that conservatives do.

If enough conservatives boycott the election in 2012, Obama will be a shoo in.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

Trump is saying so many of "the right things" the past few weeks.

Moving dirt around. Trump used to hire people to bulldoze dirt around back and forth to hoodwink investors into believing construction of one of his projects was actually developing.

It's all smoke and mirrors.

For those of us who want to stop America from going bankrupt, do we really want a guy that's bullshitted his way through four bankruptcies?

Those of us who oppose Obama and what he's doing to America have feelings of desperation.

I will never be desperate enough to settle for liberal over leftist.

Donald Trump is to the right of Obama like Trotsky was to the right of Stalin. Not right enough to be right-wing.

Anyone on the Trump bandwagon is actively campaigning for Obama, and should stop trying to bullshit people.

I realize it's hard to throw a truckload of rocks at a crowd of Tea Partiers and hit anyone with an IQ over 90, but damn. Ron Paul? Donald Trump?

Really?

I'll tell you what I'm most worried about: I don't see anyone in the GOP field right now to garner 51%!

Don't mope, there's hope.

Take a gander at disapprove side the "all voters" poll.

Now, I won't vote for Mitt "I invented Obamacare" Romney or Mike "I taxed Arkansans more than Clinton" Huckabee. If they're the nominee, I'll stay home in 2012.

If someone like Donald Trump or Ron Paul is the nominee, I'll sell my blood by the pint to raise money for Obama.

So that leaves the actual right-winger of the three, Tim Pawlenty, as someone to rally behind if the GOP primaries winnow down to those three with the currently widest appeal.

Pawlenty has plenty of room to define himself in that "don't know enough / undecided" column, and one of the smallest disparities between Republican "favorable" and all voters "favorable."

That's a spread of favorability and a base of support among non-Republicans for Pawlenty that even Obama doesn't have. And he's got room to grow. Nobody is going to change their minds about any other candidate on the field between now and November 2012.

Forget Donald Trump and other "desperation" stunts.

Vote conservative or vote Obama. That's it. Right now, Pawlenty looks like the horse to back. He's going to destroy Romney and Huckabee in the primaries.

Obama would much rather run against probably any other candidate than him.

Really nice Beamish, as usual you go for the throat! And what contribution did you make in the last election?

Funny, as a tea party member, I haven't gotten any info or updates, and I get plenty, supporting any one candidate, or possible candidate.

Be wary about what you hear on the news.

I'm trying to picture anybody even knowing who Pawlenty is let along consider voting for him...we've got about 1 1/2 yrs........
He looks so scared and needy in his interviews that it really worries me.
If Pawlenty's the best we've got, we deserve Obama.

AOW, I agree with you; Obama's got a very peevish look in his eyes lately; don't forget he's shown how thin skinned he is and he can't like that he's not higher in the polls.
I think he's scared to death because HE KNOWS charisma and celebrity are going to win 2012 and Trump has it (How the HELL ELSE could HE have gotten elected when he LIED about so many things, etc etc!!?). I don't want TRUMP...some people have thought so because I"ve said I'd vote for him tomorrow, and I would...but it's in sheer desperation because I"m realistic enough to know that he is the ONLY one who can get kids out, blacks MAYBE out, LOTS of independents and most Republicans......because they LIKE him? Not especially...because he LOVES America and got himself out of bankruptcies...I don't give a damn what it took; if he can help our country out of this mess, I'm for it.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

As if you even knew who Sarah Palin was on July 1st of 2008, nearly two months before McCain brought her in as his running mate.

Most people who know who Pawlenty is, regardless of their party affiliation, like him.

Obama can't even say that.

Add the percentage of those who approve of Pawlenty to those who strongly disapprove of Obama and you've got 54% of people who will vote for Pawlenty right now.

Stop panicking. We've got plenty of time to turn out an anti-Obama landslide.

Beamish,
Let me be clear: I am not supporting Donald Trump as the GOP candidate.

Always On Watch said...

It's too early to say that such-and-such person doesn't have enough name recognition.

In my view, the Dems and the media are setting that trap. Let's not fall into it.

The actual nominees can be late comers and still win.

It's a long, long road to 2012. Just because BHO has started early doesn't mean that the GOP must do the same.

Always On Watch said...

Z,
Try to keep this in mind: one reason that the GOP went with McCain in 2008 was the hope [cough] that those opposed to BHO would vote for anyone else, particularly a war hero.

Didn't work out well for the GOP -- for both the Oval Office and Congress.

I repeat: a lot can happen before November 2012. Hell, if not for the Iranian Revolution and all those Americans held hostage, Jimmy Peanut might have won again in 1980.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

Really nice Beamish, as usual you go for the throat! And what contribution did you make in the last election?

I remember in October 2008 I was fighting with "conservatives" to get them to support McCain despite his having 13% less than a 100% conservative voting record in the Senate to try to stop another Senator with a 2% conservative rating from becoming President.

I remember in 2010 working to keep Todd Akin in the House of Representatives and keeping Robin Carnahan out of the US Senate.

I remember supporting conservative candidates against leftists and "conservatives."

Tea Partiers are half Democrats and threaten third party runs.

I'm working to get conservatives elected. You're working to prove Christine O'Donnel isn't a witch.

See the difference?

Is Pawlenty doing well in some poll somewhere? I hope so. But, he needs to get some COMMAND in his appearance, in his demeanor, I should say.
I don't need an entertainer (whether you think so or not, Beamish) but I know America needs someone to look up to and admire and REALLY put REAL hope in. Someone with stature, someone who can attract kids and blacks and hispanics (hopefully some legal ones will come out, too?) :-)

AOW, I know all that...you know I do, but of ALL candidates, Pawlenty has the very least of ANYTHING. nada zip nul rien...pas du tout rien!
I hope he proves me wrong!! I like the guy, don't get me wrong, but I saw a look in his eyes after an interview, saying 'goodbye and thanks' and I thought "not THIS GUY, no way"

The poll I linked has him in third place among "all voters" (regardless of party affiliation) without the name recognition of Romney and Huckabee. Most people don't have an opinion of Pawlenty yet, not so with Romney and Huckabee. As Pawlenty defines himself, he'll be appealing to the people who don't like Obama, the people who don't like Romney, and the people who don't like Huckabee.

Of the three leading, realistic GOP candidate prospects, I'd rather be in Pawlenty's shoes. Four times as many Republicans dislike Huckabee as dislike Pawlenty. Five times as many Republicans dislike Romney as dislike Pawlenty. Among all voters, Pawlenty's numbers are even better than Romney's and Huckabee's. Pawlenty's going to destroy both of them in debates while defining himself to undecided voters - those undecided about Pawlenty, which in turn compliments those who are very decided unfavorably about Obama.

If the only "dirt" you have on Pawlenty is that he didn't "command" you to get as hot and wet as Trump does in the single Pawlenty interview you've seen, then you're looking for something other than a conservative candidate, Z.

Someone with stature, someone who can attract kids and blacks and hispanics (hopefully some legal ones will come out, too?) :-)

Don't forget about ticket combos.

Huckabee-Pawlenty

Pawlenty-Romney

Romney-Pawlenty

Huckabee-Romney

Romney-Huckabee

or my current mouth-watering favorite:

Pawlenty-Rubio....

Damn, I'm already weary of the run-up to the 2012 election. **sigh**

You know what I observe? And not just here at this site but all over the web.

The Dems will unify behind whomever they run for office, the rest of us don't get behind whoever opposes the Dem candidate. In that manner, the GOP snatches defeat from the jaws of victory.

Z said...

AOW, I agree.
Republicans are more true to thinking things through and don't walk lock-step like the Dems do so we are divided. And will probably remain so if there isn't some great person who suddenly throws his/her hat in the ring who we weren't expecting.
I think Paul Ryan could be that person but he's not running.

And, we saw how charisma is ALL (ALL) that got Obama elected (can I say ALL again?) and we know a milktoast ain't gonna cut it next time...not against him.

I've been saying for a few months that Obama's going to slip up, though and it makes me mad every time he comes SO close because that clamps him down to be more careful next time. Well, he's got enough interviews where he'll get angry, REALLY angry, and then we'll see.

Maybe what also lends me to believe we aren't united as Conservatives is because the Republicans are letting SO VERY VERY much slide by in Congress, like that edict that the King signed about the disclosure of political donations by gov't contractors. astonishing..where AGAIN are the republicans?

You're missing my point. You seem to want to go along to get along.

You want everyone taxed to pay for welfare, as long as ileeegul Mexicans are kept off the teat. You want public schools, as long as they teach readin', writing, and religion. You want Social Security and Medicare, as long as everyone else will pay for it.

All my life I've heard two things.

1.) Baby Boomer retirement will collapse the US economy when Social Security and Medicare debts default.

2.) "Generation X" (my generation) are lazy slackers who don't want to pay for anything

Well, okay they're true. I'm Generation X. Baby Boomer retirement is collapsing the US economy. Go dig up Roosevelt's and Johnson's corpses and shake them down for your Social Security and Medicare. They promised you a smooth ride on my generation's backs. We didn't. As long as you're on them there innernets we lazy good-for-nothing Generation X slackers put together for you (you're welcome), we're going to tell you.

I'm a Gen X conservative. I've got no time to chase after invisible birth certificates and he-said, she-said garbage about sermons in some candidate's church or if they ever spent the night and told ghost stories with an unindicted domestic terrorist.

Passing the buck to my generation or the next is not an option.

End Social Security. End Medicare.

End the nanny state.

Play time's over.

Pris said...

"Passing the buck to my generation or the next is not an option."

First of all Beamish, let's get this straight. I, and many TP members are in it, because we worry about our children and grandchildren's future.

Do you think at my age I'd do this because of myself? If I had no children? For me, it's worry day and night, that my kids and grandson won't have the opportunity and freedom we had.

Funny, my generation paid for the greatest generation's SS and medicare, I don't remember whining and moaning about it either. My parents benefited from it as did my extended family of that age, and some still are.

We're out there demanding cuts, not a nanny state. Just the opposite of what you're saying. Personally, I'd make any sacrifice I'd have to for my family.

If it makes you feel better Beamish, we pay income tax on 90% of our social security, and medicare payment is deductd from it as well, and we are not rich.

That's right. We pay taxes on a tax we were forced to pay. Welcome to the club!

"I used to be merely skeptical of Tea Party commitments to conservatism. Now I'm utterly convinced they're raving lunatic far leftists."

Far left loons wouldn't be able to stand the Tea Party for five minutes. I think this is the end of my dicussion with you. You're sounding like a raving lunatic yourself.

Any reminder of principle is met with derision and caveats. You can't threaten Granny with denying here Social Security. You were destined before birth to pay for it, with no say whatsoever. Don't be cruel. Granny worked hard kicking in a nickel every hour of her 30 cents an hour job back in the good old days to get her thousands of dollars of SSI and Medicare a month now. She deserves hella more than she ever paid in. And so do you. On someone else's dime of course.

Go along get along. Don't rock the boat. Generation X will pay for it all.

Except, we won't. Now what?

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

$14,000 = average individual annual SSI income of a retiree

90% of 14,000 = $12,600

$12,600 minus $5,700 standard deduction minus $3,650 for single exemption = $3,250 taxable income

$3,250 taxed at 15% = $487.50 a year in taxes collected

minus $325 owed = $162.50 income tax refund

Golly. $14,000 a year and you pay $325 on it, just to go to the mailbox one a month after retiring. Not even counting what Medicare gives you atop of that.

Not working whatsoever, making more a year from SSI than you paid in a year to SSI and getting a check in the mail for income you only have to give back 2% of in taxes.

I'm supposed to cry about your teeth not being strong enough to open a can of dog food here, right?
