Sometimes, I feel like I'm standing on "BRIDGE AMERICA" and the above applies.......how about you? By the way, did any of you bloggers with BLOGGER lose posts and not have them republished like I did? Odd, huh?

I had this set for publication when Blogger decided we needed maintenance and they were shutting us down for almost 24 hours.
I added the part about the missing post later.
My last post on Gramma's right again is missing. Interesting to me is that it was not a political post at all. My fluff blog is intact and my charity Knitting for Tanzania blog is missing it's last post.
Ya, Gramma, I'm thinking it's nothing political...you're right.
If they were going to remove anything that disagreed with Blogger's leftwing political affiliations, they'd have removed my comparison of Bush's excellent character in contrast to "MR I, ME, MINE, Obama"..
Probably all computer stuff and an overreaction on my part; too bad we even have to consider things like that in America, isn't it.
by the way, it was my post on Newt Gingrich, asking if people liked him or not which was deleted by Blogger.
Z...I tried all day, yesterday, and most of the evening, to read comments, but couldn't, of course.
Now, I notice that the Gingrich post is no longer there.. did it just disappear?
Re your present post, sometimes I feel that we have gone a bridge too far, anyway, but I keep telling myself that no matter how dire, or even hopeless things appear to be, we still must keep hope alive.
All things considered, it is a difficult task, at times, but a necessary one.
I guess we were commenting at the same time, Z, since you answered my question before you got a chance to read it. :)
When I had my blog, and started blogging, heavily, about political and social issues, my blog was locked for three weeks....saying that they it appeared to be a 'spam blog' whatever that is supposed to mean...but it was happening to many other political bloggers at the same time.
So, who knows?
Hi, Jan, yes, I wrote just above yours that it was the Gingrich post...Pris emailed me and reminded me that's the one that's gone.
Yes, we must keep hope alive even when we see such debt, such foreign pandering, such horrid examples set for our children at the White House (Commons, etc)....it isn't easy.
Now we're giving information of how we caught bin Laden so Al Qaeda will be reworking their technical abilities so they can escape detection again......
we're interrogating 3 of his wives, which our left will probably use as an excuse to humiliate us to the world again with "Is it waterboarding?", we have the consummate idiot McCain saying it was not waterboarding which finally got the info from KSM which is touted by experts as having contributed to his being found and we have Megan McCain more upset her mother won't like that she doesn't wear sunscreen than upset she's posing ostensibly nude (she's not nude but the implication is clear)...
I will remain hopeful, I will remain hopeful, I will remain...... !!
Hi, Jan, I forgot about that....when your blog was back, were all the posts back in tact?
only comments
I lost my post of yesterday and some comments to other posts.
My post of yesterday is not in my Blogger dashboard in draft form either.
A post that should have auto-published this morning remained in draft form, and I published it a few minutes ago.
BTW, at another Blogger site I have (Shhhh!), I couldn't get any new posts to publish. I could publish posts that I already had in draft form.
PS to Z: Thanks for phoning me and letting me know that Blogger is up. Well, somewhat up. **sigh**
Dan, thanks...
AOW, you're so welcome; I couldn't blame you asking for someone to call ....it was maddening to be here at home and keep checking.
thanks for the input one what you experienced.
I do hope it's all over...this hadn't ever happened as long before, not in my 3 1/2 years of blogging anyway.
Odd, because a blog we belong to(AOW and I) was impossible to open at ALL...at least I could see my home page/sidebar, etc..just couldn't get INTO comments.
xx
According to their "status" post, the missing Blogger data should be back "soon"...
That was at 6am PST.
Speaking of pst...
GRRRRR!
I lost all the Blogger work I did on Wednesday evening.
Thersites,
Blogger's definition of "soon" has always been ambiguous.
Did you see all the "Twitter" and "E-Mail" etc. Icons at the bottom of the posts, earlier. Then there's a blogging "location" feature as well.
Sounds like a bunch of new unneccessary bells and whistles are being beta tested.
I hadn't posted anything new, so did not deal with the maintenance interruption. Thank goodness.
They say a picture is worth a thousands and that nailed it.
I think we're on the bridge to nowhere. Uncharted territory for America. Nowhere can be a very unhappy, desolate place.
I'd be inclined to turn around and go back to that place from where we began. Unfortunately that road is full of rubble and obstacles left by those who didn't appreciate how good they had it.
However, it's worth the effort to make our way through it.
Thersites..what's a WIDGET? They mentioned that at Blogger in some context.
I don't have any twitter junk on my posts...at least that I'm seeing, are you seeing anything below my posts??
I THINK I only lost Newt (NO GREAT LOSS, BELIEVE ME :-)
I'm sorry for those of you who lost posts and comments......
I hope that doesn't happen again.
I must admit, however, something I emailed Jen about just now; being out of touch with the blog didn't bug me as it has in the past! Odd...I used to feel almost anxious about it. Do any of you feel that? I was not happy but ... life went on.
I added in my email to her how much affection I have for my regular commenters, that is something I KNOW FOR SURE...so many of you are like dear old friends somehow...and I'd never want that to end.
xx
Pris, for goodness sake!
How the heck do you come up with that stuff?...it's SO SO well said.
And so utterly sad, too.
amazingly well said..thanks.
see you all later...i'm out for a while.
xxx
These are widgets...
And no, you don't have any at the bottom of your posts, but if applied a new Blogger template, they'd probably be included.
Z...repost the Newt piece???
...and yes, I suppose I do feel a little anxious when the Internet isn't working right, but at least I no longer feel like someone is trying to screw w/me, personally, like I used to.
Thersites (if that's YOU and I think it is), you're too liked to feel that way.
Imp...,it's GONE...comments, too.
Seems to me that the right wants to jump and the only hope for change is to let them and pick up the body parts later.
Hold that thought, ducky, as we finish collecting the Obama body parts still floating in the water.
Ducky...does somebody need a hug???
FJ, I think those are OSAMA body parts 'floating in the water' these days! Heh! :-)
Ducky, I believe Priscilla said it all.
Jen....you're too kind.
Z, Thanks....
Sometimes Blogger reeks! Took 'em two days to get it all straightened out, and I'm still not sure it's all OK.
I had some words for Bloogle's software engineers ::cough cough:: and the problems they create everytime they make changes to the source code.
Something along the lines of "back in the 1960s, computer specialists had this crazy idea about restoring to the last functioning version of software when a new version has too many errors in it. Does Google have an IT department?"
Last time they rolled out a major change, they deleted my original blog entirely, from August 2004 through June 2006. I've since deleted my blog and started over several times over the years, mostly in whimsy, but the first wipeout of my blog pretty much took caring about having an archived "serious" blog out of me (well, a serious as I could take things, anyway).
I would hope heads rolled over this latest embarassment to Google / Blogger. There's too many unemployed software developers for them to settle for this legendarily crappy performance.
Seems even comments made since Thursday have been deleted from all over blogs on Blogger.
Fail.
Burn ALL the f.i.g.s., says I!
Perhaps then, the ADD and Alzheimer incidence rates would go down and people would begin trying to improve their memories again!
Plato, "Philebus"
SOCRATES: And similarly, if you had no memory you would not recollect that you had ever been pleased, nor would the slightest recollection of the pleasure which you feel at any moment remain with you; and if you had no true opinion you would not think that you were pleased when you were; and if you had no power of calculation you would not be able to calculate on future pleasure, and your life would be the life, not of a man, but of an oyster or 'pulmo marinus.' Could this be otherwise?
PROTARCHUS: No.
SOCRATES: But is such a life eligible?
Protarchus: Maybe we should ask a liberal?
beamish, I can't imagine having it all wiped out; all that writing, etc etc..
there's some company that 'keeps' your computer files in case your computer has problems and you lose things....
can that work with the blog, too?
...said the elephant who never forgets. ;)
that's quite a 'seal', FJ!
Yeah, the major template change Blogger rolled out in 2006 completely deleted my blog. My blog has never been the same, and I've deleted it myself some 28 or so times since then, but some of my more fun content was from that 2004 to 2006 span that Blogger deleted against my will.
I'm sure there's a way to host a Blogger blog from a computer different from Blogger's servers, but that's for the folks have a $$$ server of their own.
Spending money to build your own blog seems besides the point of it all to me.
What's worse, when you call from your cell phone, they'll probably ask you - Press 1 for English, Press 2 for Spanish.
MK: DON'T!!! DON'T!!
GAD, you are so right..what a horrid thought!
