Sunday Faith Blog

God, give us men!  A time like this demands
Strong minds, great hearts, true faith and ready hands:
Men whom the lust of office does not kill;

Men whom the spoils of office can not buy;
Men who possess opinions and a will;
Men who have honor; men who will not lie;
Men who can stand before a demagogue
and damn his treacherous flatteries without winking!

Tall men, sun-crowned, who live above the fog
In public duty and in private thinking;

For while the rabble, with their thumb-worn creeds,
Their large professions and their little deeds,
Mingle in selfish strife, lo! Freedom weeps,
Wrong rules the land and waiting
Justice sleeps..........Josiah Gilbert Holland (1819-1881) poet, founder and editor of Scribner's Monthly.

"To rescue us from the hands of our enemies, and to enable us to serve Him without fear."  Luke 1:74

Let's all pray for good men in our lives, particularly in politics.
Have a great Sunday.
Happy Birthday, C...xxxx

Z - Yes.

And this:

The imperative need of this nation at all times is the leadership of the uncommon
man.

We need men and women who cannot be intimidated, who are not concerned with applause meters.

Nor those who will sell tomororw for cheers today.

~Herbert Hoover

Have a great Sunday, Z

Z, I love this. How apropos to this time and place. It's difficult to add anything, because this pretty much says it all.

We can only hope, that while this may not yet be evident, there is one who will indeed be as true as this cry for integrity, and courage.

Ducky, you have already shown us how you respond to strong women with courage and love of country.

If I were you, I'd keep silent, as you have said enough with your slurs, and innuendo toward these women who placed themselves in the public square, only to be brutally, verbally assaulted.

Pris, Yep, that about sums it up on all accounts.

off topic, has anybody noticed that, day after day after day this last week, the Yahoo homepage (for those of us who have it) has had a top left corner with something about the CLINTON CONCERT in it? All week, knowing nothing about it, I kept noticing that all day long and wondering how long the concert was going on.. a weeklong concert?
Then I read just now that it happened here in LA at the Hollywood Bowl last night?

It's absolutely amazing to me how the leftwing venues highlight so hard and constantly the leftwing.......Today, it's one article about his crying with emotion, a few articles on his feelings about Lady Gaga, videos galore about the event and different headliners (Lady Gaga's pretty good! I'd never seen her in action before...I'd not have thought she was different enough than Madonna to make such a big splash but she sure has somehow)...At least 3 articles about CHelsea's contribution to the concert, articles GALORE.......for a WEEK. Hammer, hammer, hammer, hammer. Dems, Dems, Dems, Dems........unceasing.

Sue, great quote by Hoover.....

I fear Obama's selling all our tomorrows having put us so MUCH into debt.....just for the cheers of HOPE and CHANGE...
scares me to death.

YOu have a great day, too.

That is beautiful, and especially fitting coming from you Z.

I am so thankful for my wonderful hubby, and for my great brother, and for my grandson, the only three men in my life.

Debbie, I think that's one of the nicest things anybody's ever written here to me. Thank you very much.
I'm so glad (and am not surprised) that you've had such good men in your life, too. I wish I could know you all. xx
