Yes Z....this is indeed a tragedy. I find it more absurd that here in my home state of Florida I have fewer rules preventing me from defending myself. Florida's self defense laws are the model for all states that allow weapons carry and a "No retreat" option when under threat.

Shamefully the ROE's for our soldiers are failing them and costing many of them their lives because they have to "justify" killing a terrorist or defending themselves.

In stark contrast the "ROE's" for Floridians are...shoot back first. Ask later.

I think they ought to lay down their weapons and go on "strike", myself.

Perhaps the new command under Petraeus will eliminate these absurd rules.

Hi Imp,
I am donating, and I signed the petition.

This is so outrageous. So now, our military personnel are supposed to withstand attacks or assaults from the enemy while doing their duty?

My God. Lawyers and judges are determining our military rules of engagement. This is insanity!

Yep...inept neophytes and academics all posturing on how to wage war. And a war...that these dems do not want although it's being run by them once again. And just like Vietnam...they will lose it.

This is ridiculous at a time of war. I pray for our soldiers and our country.

No...Opus...it's criminal in a time of war. Tragically...no demrats who have control of this "war" now...will ever face justice let alone a trial.

I'm with Impertinent. It's criminal how they expect these men and women to fight in a time of war.

I'd assumed that there would be more interest in this subject. Cause in my opinion this is just the tip of the iceberg. These prosecutions of our troops prove to me that we just don't know our enemies. We don't understand what our objectives really are when we commit these men to combat. Unlike all previous wars...we fought to win. Not to appease local governments, ideology, warlords or the sensibilities of the local "civilian" population.

It's the local population that aids and abets and allows our enemies to hide amongst them...to lay in wait for out troops...to ambush our troops and they aid in ultimately in killing our soldiers.

As such..I include them into the enemy category. In the past such aid supplied by civilians was reason enough for their: trial and imprisonment or their elimination.

Now that it's clear that we place the ideology and the sensibilities of the locals above our tactical and strategic goals....we will lose. Period. And these troops are then wasting their time, their blood fighting for us.

Is not a soldier under attack ( who defends our freedoms and country ) worth a $10 contribution? Isn't he worth the same as a politician who "promises" to support the troops....then allows their persecution to take place as in this case?

I'd take the soldier over a self serving pol any day of the week. It is the soldier who's sacrifice allows these pols to keep their mouths open...while lying to us. A soldier must face the truth.

Help this hero out...OK?
