I've got to hand it to her. She looked GORGEOUS and SO in love. God bless them both.

Best wishes to the happy couple.
The hell with them for not sending me an invitation.
When asked on the VIEW, apparently, Obama said he wasn't invited, that two presidents were too much and the Clintons probably thought it would detract from the wedding... (he)"agreed with this line of thought and said that the Clinton family will not be coming to his daughters weddings either."
OUCH! "GOTCHA BACK!" (what a guy)
So don't feel too badly, Ducky!
... I was going to bring a few friends. They would have loved our act.
what, Ducky, singing "Mm mm mm...Barack Hussein Obama..." with a rap beat? :-)
From what I've seen, she was beautiful. May the Lord bless their marriage and give them many years together!
In my opinion, Chelsea isn't a particularly attractive woman.
That said, like most brides, she just glowed with love and, indeed, looked beautiful!
Who can't help wishing a newlywed couple so much in love a long and happy marriage? I surely can't withhold best wishes.
I didn't have time to read the entire link. Anybody know what music was used at the wedding?
Dang them both for interrupting my 24 hour coverage of how racist I am.
what, Ducky, singing "Mm mm mm...Barack Hussein Obama..." with a rap beat? :-)"
Nah....he'd come as a door mat for the clintons to wipe their royal feet on.
My thoughts... I always felt like Chelsea was a true victim in the White House. It is so tough for the children of any POTUS to have a normal childhood. She also became more of a victim of our modern society's growing tendency to attack families of political personalities.
It is easy to sit back and look at the high end education and money she comes from and not know there has been a price paid. I am glad to see her find her place and obviously love, in her adult life. And yes, she made a lovely bride and I wish her and her husband many, many happy years.
Catherine Barry
PS Ducky, you should be happy to be in company with your hero MaObama! :-) You are just too hot to compete with!
Agreed... she seems like a nice kid, and I wish her health and happiness.
Mazel Tov!
z - I liked her dress. And she did look happy.
I was glad to read that they've known each other since they were teenagers. Already being good friends for a long time is a pretty good predictor for a good marriage. And she did look lovely.
Democrats are now the party of perceived privilege, and GOP is the party of the people.
With a wedding costing around $5,000,000.00, how does the "Party of the People" explain that? How does a family on extended "benefits" relate to that? How does a woman just out of college get a $250k a year...starting salary?
Rangel, Kerry in a $7,000,000 yacht trying to evade Mass taxes? Before Kerry met Heinz he was worth 100k.....now he's worth in excess of $230 million! That my friends is MEGA RICH! Now he is ranked as the wealthiest member of Congress
Rangel hiding income of over $600k and living in a rent controlled apartment? Not just one...but he has four!
Ahhhh, and dear old Maxine....setting up sweetheart deals with banks that benefited her and her husband...but claims she was unaware of it?
Nancy Peolsi....a $25,000,000 winery and extreme wealth. And she gets to ride on a 757....paid by you!
But...In 2008, Republican John McCain was the presidential candidate with so many houses, he lost count!
"It isn’t about having a lot of money. It’s about making people feel you are rubbing your money in their faces, while draining their modest assets for sketchy government programs funded by taxes you don’t want to pay."
Party of the "People"...hardly.
Major
'How does a woman just out of college get a starting salary of 250K a year"
She is extremely intelligent.
Chelsea did look beautiful, and glowing, like every bride should look.
I probably shouldn't bring this up, but after hearing that this wedding cost between three and five million dollars, I have to ask, how could a wedding cost that much?
I mean, did they hire some team to go into a rain forest and hand pick orchids from their indigenous tropical environment or what?
Just asking!
Pris
PS, Z, Obama said that? Mr. thin skinned sounded a little put off did he? I don't blame the Clintons for this one. I'm sure they felt this was Chelsea's day, and didn't want her to have to share it with "the one".
""She is extremely intelligent."
Really? And you know that how? You've seen her transcripts or you can just judge that from a picture? Has she invented something the world can't live without? Like Facebook, the PC, Ipod, Iphone or Ipad?
One thing for sure....the 250k starting salary...is because she's "extremely well connected". You can bank on that. And her new husbands Daddy? He's a crook.
The Clintons will fit right in.
Major
Beamish..perfect!
Catherine, welcome to geeez..
for a few of you who mentioned Chelsea's personality and character, when I saw her ballet dancing on point WHILE 'first daughter' at her school production, I knew that kid had confidence beyond most adults because she had to know the eyes of the world would have loved for her to have slipped. I give her TONS of credit for that and even credit to her parents (choke)..I have to admit. That doesn't just come naturally... you need parents to help you with that courage and self confidence.
But, I'll share something now with you; a dear friend was best friends with a Chelsea roommate in college; that child SUFFERED during the Monica Lewinsky thing like you can't BELIEVE. Tears for hours for days for months......hours and hours spent on the phone with her dad. It was TERRIBLE for Chelsea.
She's very poised and seems like a very good girl.
But, folks..nobody starts 'entry level' at $250K because they're smart (hate to say this, Sue)...it doesn't hurt a firm to have a Clinton on their payroll. But, TRUST ME, I'm not saying Chelsea isn't bright as a whip and a real asset to whatever company hires her.
Pris, OH YES, I saw that quote in two places and I thought it was VERY low of him, a real 'threat'.."NANA NANA NANAAAAA" No doubt about it. Typical...
"I'm sure they felt this was Chelsea's day, and didn't want her to have to share it with "the one".
And besides that....I doubt if the FAA or the airlines would have been overjoyed at having to close down 4 major airports again after having to do it for the "one" when he flew into NY for the View. Including Newburg / Stewart as thats the only airport that could have handled AF1.
I think the FAA / airlines had it's fill of him last week.
Major
Major, oops...I just commented then saw your comment.
You're right... I know amazingly bright college graduates in HUGE positions from the start and nobody's making 250K right out of college.
We don't know that CHelsea isn't bright..I won't paint her with the ideological brush and just negate her cuz she's not a Republican!!!:-)
Anyway...I'd give ANYTHING to have Clinton back as president over Obama. ANY TIME. And believe me, I NEVER thought I'D SAY THAT.
Major - It is a well known fact that ever since Chelsea was three years old she was very bright. They used to call it 'scary bright.' She is very intelligent.
"She is very intelligent."
I never said she wasn't. I don't care how bright she is...there's thousands more like her just out of college. And guess what? There's no work...no jobs...they're not hiring. Except...if you're well connected.
So next year...her second year on the job...she gets as raise to...Ohh...350K? Merit pay, right? It's all very cheesy not very transparent and reeks of favoritism and class distinction...social class that is. She's a Princess and the daughter of a former King and Queen.
Major
Major - The rumors are even flying that the new Mrs. Mezvinsky - somewhere down the road - may become the first Woman President, whose daddy has been President and whose mommy used to be First Lady, New York Senator and Secretary of State.
And Marc will be the first Jewish First Hubby.
That's how smart she is.
Major! It's that companies pay BIG time to have a name like CLINTON associated with them. I don't care HOW smart she is, this is a huge part of her getting a job at all in this economy and her getting an enormous salary at her age.
Sue.....I am SO doing the best I can to refrain from any remark regarding intelligence and the presidency.
And, imagine? The Left's already saying "We can't have Jeb Bush as president because we can't have a DYNASTY!" hmmmm
Yea Sue...right...but not with baggage like this:
"Edward M. Mezvinsky (D-Iowa), served two (1973-1977.) Ed Mezvinsky pleaded guilty in 2002 to swindling dozens of investors out of $10 million and served five years in prison. He was released in April 2008, but remains on federal probation and still owes almost $9.4 million in restitution to his victims.
But...they're Dems like Rangel, Kerry, Waters and Pelosi...who can't seem to "drain the swamp" of characters like these.
Of course I'm sure she'll be thrilled to have to relive all her Daddy's legal troubles, affairs and scandals...won't she?
Oh and..."In 2008, Marc Mezvinsky bought a condominium in the Flatiron district of Manhattan valued at roughly $3.8 million."
Where'd he get that money from as a 29 year old? Maybe from the almost $10,000,000 dad still owes to his swindled victims? Maybe he was friends with the Ponzi King too...you know him right? Madoff?
Democratic royalty that's what all of it is. Same type of dynasty the nasty Kennedy's have built over the past 50 years.
Major
z - These days with the presidency - anything goes. It seems like ever since Kennedy was the first Catholic president, that broke the barrier.
Major - That's right. Chelsea would be the first President whose father-in-law did time.
Sue, 'Catholic barrier'...are you talking about the possibility of a Jewish First Husband? I think America's WAAAY past that by now, thank goodness...don't you? (but, then I thought we were waaaaaay past RACISM, too, until the awful attacks on good Americans)
You're right about the presidency and brains :-)
Major, please consider whether you'd want your sins to be foisted onto your children for all their lives.
I doubt that.
"It's that companies pay BIG time to have a name like CLINTON associated with them."
Of course they do...it's what do they expect in return that's the real problem. Political capital, sleazy favors, special consideration, contracts, loans? They want a return on their "investment"...you betcha.
Major
"Major - That's right. Chelsea would be the first President whose father-in-law did time."
SO WHAT? HE didn't do time, his DAD did, and paid for it with jail time.
It's not like Bernie Madoff is running for President!!!
One more thing - I saw pictures of Chelsea in her wedding dress today. She didn't look like the 'dog' that Rush Limbaugh said she was at 12 years old.
OH, Major..that's true; I hadn't considered that about what the companies expect back. Very true.
I'm going to go watch a movie..see y'all later. Talk amongst yourselves!
Z - I was just talking about anything in general as far as running for the presidency.
Sue, we're all saying how GORGEOUS she looked!! Absolutely beautiful...but the girl is no classic beauty, let's face it.
Rush was cruel but Chelsea wasn't always a 'pretty little girl'. I'd say the elder of the Obama girl is, but you get MAD :-)
"SO WHAT? HE didn't do time, his DAD did, and paid for it with jail time."
I wasn't addressing you with that quote...sorry, sue :-)
see you later.
"to be foisted onto your children for all their lives.
I doubt that."
Of course not Ms. Z....but once they step foot into that political swamp...they're fair game...unless you're a democrat.. then even getting caught with your hands in the cookie jar or wetting your beak...is acceptable today. Imagine how corrupt it's be in 10 years or so since they all get away with the fraud now?
And....with her being that smart...I seriously doubt she'll want to get into that sewer. Look what happened to Caroline Kennedy when she tried. Totally incompetent, flummoxed and lost in the process.
Major
Still haven't gone down to watch that movie! >>>
Major...Caroline Kennedy was a HUGE disappointment, wasn't she. What word did she constantly use? was it "Um"? I was surprised at that, tell you the truth.
Anyway, Chelsea's NOT exactly in that political swamp as yet, so I'm giving her a big break on her wedding day!
You want to talk SWAMP, wait till you see tomorrow's post at geeeeZ!!
"was it "Um"?
Yea...that and "Ya know"...ya know?
Major
"...Caroline Kennedy was a HUGE disappointment, wasn't she. What word did she constantly use? was it "Um"? I was surprised at that, tell you the truth."
Z, she used, "you know" every other couple of words. She sounded like an airhead, which I think she probably is.
For all we know, Chelsea Clinton could be disenchanted with politics, after everything she's seen and heard.
She's been mired in it her whole life, and it might not have been the happiest life for a child growing up with both parents consumed with politics and what goes along with that.
Pris
"You want to talk SWAMP"
Will we need waders?
Major
Z - As far as Malia goes, I'm over that. She is pretty classy looking. See - I agree with you.
But I've always wondered what kind of a person would make a comment like that. A grown man, saying that publicly, about a 12 year old girl. At the time of her life when she is most self-conscious. He could have said anything about her dad, or even her mother. But I've always wondered. He must lack totally in sensitivity. Even in the world of politics.
And - I agree about Caroline Kennedy. But I was glad that she didn't get into politics. After what happened to others in her family, who knows??
'Anybody know what music was used at the wedding'
Back to the wedding...I would be interested to know what music she walked down the aisle to. Surely she had a string orchestra.
Pris, that's right..."you know?"
Sue, no idea about the music, but I was the one who complimented Sasha by saying I thought she had a lovely air about her! Yes, it could be a little glimpse of class but it's kind of more a dignity about her..a self confidence, maybe? That's always SO attractive, and she has a really pretty face. I'm glad you agree, but which male are you alluding to ?
Z - I thought it was Malia that you liked. Isn't she the older one?
I was refering to Rush - who called Chelsea a 'dog'.
I just remembered about the wedding invitations. I read that of the 400 invited, each person had to be personally connected to either the bride or the groom - in order to get an invitation.
Did you ever watch the movie?
Sue, RIGHT..Malia's the older one..she's the one I admire, you're right.
What movie?
"what music she walked down the aisle to."
Possibly "Money for Nothing" by Dire Straits?
"She's got Legs or Gimme all Your Lovin" by ZZ Top?
"It's My Party and I'l cry if I want to" by Leslie Gore?
Major
Sue! I'm sorry! yes, I watched MY MOVIE (i'm losing it!)
I hesitate to tell you, but it was HEIDI!! I ordered it because , lately, I've needed sweet films that make me happy! It DID!!!
Major, good songs!
How about "My Heart Belongs to Daddy!"?
( I LOVE "She's got Legs!")
Z - That's funny, but I was thinking that you would watch something like that. I'm in the middle of watching The Pianist, which isn't so pleasant.
"The Pianist, which isn't so pleasant."
Nope...it isn't. Watching an unarmed, docile people capitulate to fascism and learn too late what lies in store for them. An incredible, true story by Polanski.
Major
My pick is Dire Straits. One of the greatest guitar riffs ever...and the lyrics...well...listen up. Cool Video too.
Money for Nothing
Major
Major - What do you think about Polanski and his situation. Should he have been extradited?
I think the Pianist is a beautiful, artistic film that has a lot to offer to the world of film.
"What do you think about Polanski and his situation."
Situation? That's an unusual way to phrase it. He committed a crime from which he fled. He jumped bail, fled jurisdiction and justice demands that he face the charges. If I robbed a bank let alone rape a minor...you can be damn sure there'd be charges to face. A trial, which had convicted him I recall. The man needs to fess up...face the charges.
Our own Phil Spector did it....at least he had the guts to face the charges and take his sentence. We're a nation of laws...not men. Laws.
Major
He will never come back as long as he is not forced to. If he were going to he would have done it by now.
I wonder where the girls parents were.
You know, I never remember hearing anything about her parents..odd.
He's free now, right?
The Pianist is a very good film.
Have you both seen THE LIVES OF OTHERS?
Major, I figured you older than you must be if you like Dire Straits and the amazing Mark Knopfler!
Z - He is free as long as he is in a country that will not extradite him, like Switzerland, France and a couple others. He cannot come back to the States.
The girl involved said she does not want any further prosecution - not that it is up to her.
I've always wondered why she was allowed to be alone with Polanski.
Yes, The Pianist is a good movie, especially the second half. Adrian Brody got best actor.
Z - I hadn't heard of The Lives of Others, but looked it up. It won the award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2006. Did it have subtitles? You must have seen it with Mr. Z.
"Major, I figured you older than you must be if you like Dire Straits and the amazing Mark Knopfler!"
Older...how's this then....I liked the Mama's and the Papa's too way back when. But...ZZ Top, Dire Straits...and Knopfler...you can't beat that mans talent. Queen is another one....damn those guys knew how to put on a show. Their music is still timeless.
Sheesh....I should have added "Fat Bottomed Girls" to Hilarys top ten list at the wedding?
Major
"not that it is up to her."
Exactly correct. The law has the last word. Not her now that she's....what....45?
Major
Major - I googled her and her name is Samantha Geimer, 45. She has three children and lives in Hawaii.
She publicly forgave Polanski in 1997 and says that what he did to her was not as bad as what she suffered from the press in the following year.
It would not do well for us to allow private citizens to decide who is guilty and who is not.
In this you are so right.
Have you seen The Pianist and did you like it?
Your act Ducky? What would that be, "The Three Stooges''? Johnnymac.
It's getting late here in Blogoland(and I hope he gets some jail time-if for no other reason than his attitude.)
Just want to close by saying that I think the parents in the Polanski case should have received punishment.
And I'm happy that things went so well for Chelsea.
Last word on this "Versailles", Sun King's daughters wedding:
"Basic salary of US President today after taxes is approx $286,492.90.
Bill Clinton would have had to work 30+ years at the top job in the US, as President, to cover the cost of Chelsea’s wedding day.
At a time when so many families are suffering putting food on the table, Chelsea Clinton is a national disgrace. Her all-human specialist Colunbia Studies is bogus, she has not the first clue about health and survival of the average family in the US.
Major
"She publicly forgave Polanski in 1997 and says that what he did to her was not as bad as what she suffered from the press in the following year."
Sue, It doesn't matter what she says. He was found guilty. He was convicted.
Polanski's lucky and should consider himself so. Time does not change what he did. He escaped punishment. I find it interesting that you want the parents punished, but not the rapist!
They may be lousy parents, but that isn't license for a rape to go unpunished.
Pris
Pris - You must have missed the part where I clearly stated that although she did not blame him and did not want any further prosecution - IT WAS NOT UP TO HER
to be the judge.
I only wrote that as a matter of information on Google.
Pris - Where did I say that I didn't want Polanski punsihed.
I do think the parents are at fault, however.
