A black or white person, now dead, who lived during the civil rights struggles of the 1930s, '40s or '50s, might very well be appalled and disgusted by black behavior accepted today. Yesteryear, it was the Klan or White Citizens Council who showed up at polling places to intimidate black voters. During the 2008 elections, it was the New Black Panthers who showed up at a Philadelphia polling place to intimidate white voters and tell them, "You are about to be ruled by the black man, cracker." What's worse is the U.S. Department of Justice has decided to not to prosecute.
Black intimidation of voters, to my knowledge, is rare, but black intimidation of Asians is not. Recent reports out of Philadelphia and San Francisco tell of black students beating up Asian students. The Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund, in the wake of serious black-on-Asian violence at South Philadelphia High School, charged the district with "deliberate indifference" to the harassment of Asian students and with "intentional disregard" for their welfare.
The violence is not restricted to Asian youngsters. Asian adults are included, such as the recent bludgeoning to death of an 83-year-old Chinese man in San Francisco and the pushing of a 57-year-old Asian lady onto Muni subway tracks.
A white Charleston, S.C. teacher frequently complained of black students calling her: white b——, white m——-f——-, white c—- and white ho. Most people would judge that to be racism and demand it to end. Charleston school officials told the teacher this racially charged profanity was simply part of the students' culture, and if she couldn't handle it, she was in the wrong school. The teacher brought a harassment suit and the school district settled out of court for $200,000.
What about black youngsters who hit the books and study after school instead of hitting the streets? Sometimes they are ridiculed as being incog-negro or acting white and the ridicule is often accompanied with life-threatening physical violence.
Many blacks, particularly black males, have arrived at the devastating conclusion that academic excellence is a betrayal of their black identity. The pathology seen among a large segment of the black population is not likely to change because it's not seen for what it is. It has little to do with slavery, poverty and racial discrimination. Let's look at it. Today's black illegitimacy rate is about 70 percent. When I was a youngster, during the 1940s, illegitimacy was around 15 percent. In the same period, about 80 percent of black children were born inside marriage. In fact, historian Herbert Gutman, in "Persistent Myths about the Afro-American Family" in the Journal of Interdisciplinary History (Autumn 1975), reports the percentage of black two-parent families, depending on the city, ranged 75 to 90 percent. Today, only 35 percent of black children are raised in two-parent households. The importance of these and other statistics showing greater stability and less pathology among blacks in earlier periods is that they put a lie to today's excuses. Namely, at a time when blacks were closer to slavery, faced far more discrimination, more poverty and had fewer opportunities, there was not the kind of chaos, violence, family breakdown and black racism that we see today. (Z: I think this is such an important point..)
Intellectuals and political hustlers who blame the plight of so many blacks on poverty, discrimination and the "legacy of slavery" are complicit in the socioeconomic and moral decay. But as Booker T. Washington suggested, "There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs — partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs." (Z: Guess who)

SO good to see this massive manipulation being taken down. Thanks for this article. The quote by Booker T Washington is particularly eye-opening since it was so long ago.
I feel that I'm finally crawling out from under manufactured white guilt since the Shirley Sherrod incident.
(note: You have Walter E. "Whitman" instead of "Williams" at the top of the article.)
Oh, Faith, thanks for the WILLIAMS! Walt Whitman...great :-)
Wow, to hear Sherrod's husband speak this year, you know the Sherrod's feelings; Do not feel guilty, it's they who should.
"we must not be afraid to vote black...we must not be afraid to turn a black out"
Google Charles Sherrod Video. mhm. (ignore the silly printed words at the beginning...)
this state of affairs in the black community is frustrating and disheartening. the good news is, though obama was the worst choice for president, his insidious agenda against our country got us so riled up, we refused to keep our lips sealed any longer about the libs racial agenda. the race-card now reveals its users for the opportunists and bullies they've been all these years.
God has more in store for our future than i can ever hope to understand. at times i am so overwhelmed by the broadness of black anger and entitlement, that i take a stance of indifference. it's a childish rebellion on my part to try to ignore it. but i have children, i don't have the luxury of this selfish attitude. i don't have to pound the pavement with a bullhorn, but i do have to impart to them what i know, at least by example.
what i know is this: we are human beings first. next, we are Americans. in order to advance, we have to work daily on cooperative living. i don't mean kumbayah-and-hold-hands, i mean put in our individual labor to keep our country moving forward. i can't change the thinking of the sloths around me. but i can keep reaching out to the like-minded people like you, z and mr. williams. there will always be strength in numbers. united we stand.
z, thanks for keeping the unpopular dialogue going in your corner of the world. i can hardly stand this topic anymore. this morning you've reminded me, there should be no topic i shy from if it means making even a teensy bit of difference. thanks for posting this!
The black family is the canary in the coalmine of liberalism. And given the high rates of illegitimacy and single moms raising children alone, it doesn't bode well for the future. The canary is expiring. What was a 30% illegitimacy rate when Daniel Patrick Moynihan surveyed the situation in '65 is now twice as bad.
Z, this is entirely a product of the left
I believe a lot of what ails the black community started with our "War on Poverty".
The programs from this "war" created a class of people, not all black but they seemed to have a higher proportion of it, that were Dependant on the government.
This dependency turned into a life sentence for many of them. They were rewarded for not working. Mother's were punished for being married. They were rewarded for having more children than they could support or reasonable take care of properly. Their daughters were rewarded for having children out of wedlock and the reward increased as they were more fruitful.
What we were left with were:
Mothers who raised children without a male role model in the house.
Mothers who were not educated and therefore did not see value in pushing their children to become educated.
Children being raised not with a male role model in their lives but a "babies daddy" who basically was a loser on welfare himself and had other children by other women.
These mothers in fathers in turn produced more of the same and their numbers grew and slowly edged out the older generation you talked about above. They took over neighborhoods causing the older generations that should have guided and mentored this younger generation to either move out of the neighborhood or lock themselves away in their houses out of fear of what was roaming their streets.
Because of the lack of education for these children, the cycle continued and continues today. It also set the stage for the final nail in the coffin for poor blacks - the civil rights activists of today.
We had early civil rights icons that genuinely wanted to see their fellow blacks achieve equality. MLK Jr, Rosa Parks, etc.
Their void were filled with today's race-baiters and enablers Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, etc.
They have been there to ensure the cycle continues.
I think it is sad and quite frankly I think the war on poverty was akin to genocide.
Sorry, to ramble.
Chuck is exact when he charges the left with responsibility for black on white racism in this country over the past 50 years; but my friend overlooks the fact that the left was also responsible for white on black racism in the 50 years before that. Progressives have so manipulated racism in this country I am amazed that we have had relatively few racially motivated riots or that the number of casualties has been so light.
I’m not one who believes in the so-called black community because it suggests that individual black citizens are incapable of thinking individually. But even with that said, we must realize that so-called white society cannot fix the problems that do exist within the black society. We cannot force anyone to suddenly value education. We cannot suddenly demand a reduction in violent crime. We are certainly not in a position to demand the end of black on black violence, which is 90% of all violence perpetrated against blacks. These changes must come from our black citizens themselves. It is starting to happen, as people such as Namaste are beginning to demand better.
As for the myth of white oppression, we cannot fool ourselves into thinking white oppression never happened. It did happen —as I said earlier, perpetrated by the Progressive Left beginning with scum like Woodrow Wilson and Margaret Sanger. How Hillary Clinton remains enthralled with Sanger is beyond my comprehension. But if we want true change within the so-called black community, then black citizens need to read Dr. Williams, and Dr. Sowell, and Star Parker, and my friend Namaste, and care more about the future of their own children than they do the status quo of victimhood. They, ultimately, have to reach out for a new tomorrow. Until they do that, there can be no significant changes; there can only be race cards played as part of the so-called ‘great game’.
Many blacks, particularly black males, have arrived at the devastating conclusion that academic excellence is a betrayal of their black identity.
Recommended reading on this topic. A black friend of mine was having trouble with her older son, who was stuck in the victimhood mode and recommended that I read the above-linked book, Losing the Race: Self-Sabotage in Black America.
From the editorial review at Amazon:
According to the author, victimology "has become a keystone of cultural blackness to treat victimhood not as a problem to be solved but as an identity to be nurtured," while "separatism encourages black Americans to conceive of black people as an unofficial sovereign entity, within which the rules other Americans are expected to follow are suspended out of a belief that our victimhood renders us morally exempt from them." Anti-intellectualism is a belief that "school is a 'white' endeavor." McWhorter suggests that only blacks embrace such opinions, placing most of the blame on them while underemphasizing the institutional racism that facilitates such views. Needless to say, McWhorter has no love for the likes of Al Sharpton, Hazel Carby, June Jordan, or Patricia Williams and their ilk. His chapter on Ebonics, his specialty, is the most nuanced, though certainly not the final word on the matter. And though some readers will be turned off by his use of tired anti-affirmative-action, right-wing clichés, anyone interested in the education of African Americans in the post civil rights era will find Losing the Race a worthy read. --Eugene Holley Jr.
The book is available at most public libraries, last time I checked.
What's with Blogger today? I had to delete two comments (identical, basically) because Blogger was stuttering. Or something.
The question should not be dichotomous. Racism is stupidity. Has anyone ever noticed how well people of different races work so well together in the military, among first responders? That’s because people who train together, who learn teamwork, who learn to rely on one another, who understand there are more important things than selfishness are able to set aside petty differences in order to focus on their mission. We can defeat racism in America … no matter who perpetrates it, if we stop being stupid and if we stop listening to the progressive left who constantly seeks to divide us according to race, gender, ethnicity, and religion.
Any moment now, Ducky will be by to proclaim what a bunch of racists we are. In 5 ... 4 ... 3 ...
Well, since you decided to highlight the New Black Panther Party case let's take a look:
1. The NBPP is a handful of nutlogs and has only a couple dozen "members".
2. No voter filed intimidation charges. One did call police and mention that Prime Minister Shabazz or was outside the polling place and he was removed without incident.
3. Attorney General Mukasey filed the case as a civil misdemeanor.
4. Attorney General Holder agreed that there was insufficient evidence for a criminal charge.
WHAT'S THAT? The original civil decision was made by the BUSH AG? Glenn Beck never told me that.
In fact it's pretty clear who wants to stir up the issue of race here and it sure ain't Jesse Jackson who, blessedly, has been virtually invisible for years.
The Bush attorney general ... and who is stirring up race as an issue?
No voter filed intimidation charges.
What infuriates me most is that they are accepted by society to use the word nigger while white people are culturally restricted from saying so. I tend to use the word nigger quite freely and don't cave in to white guilt as most do. But then again I dance to the beat of a different drum. I'd like a nigger try and tell me I will be "under" anyone.
namaste, thanks so much for chiming in on this. "we are human beings first" is the key. I can't believe that we're even talking racism today;
What's your opinion of the NBPP intimidation at the polls and HOlder's dropping the case?
Anonymous; many won't agree with me here, but I have always been a fan of Moynihan's...a Democrat who still loved America. What a guy.
Chuck, it's never a good idea to "pay dads to stay away from their families". The Black American family had been STRONG and cohesive and productive.....
There still are amazing families like that, they just aren't in the news, sadly.
Mustang, you're so right in everything you say. That part that Williams covers regarding how black kids are encouraged NOT to do well in school is so important. We have to turn that around and I'd have HOPED that the Sec of Education, Obama's basketball buddy, might see that and encourage that in Obama. Let him do teaching moments that actually make SENSE and could teach the victimhood out of our black kids.
But then they might vote Republican. aha.
Always, Blogger's been weird for me, too, lately...odd. But it's all I've got.
that's gorgeous that a book like the one you highlight might be 'full of rightwing cliches'...I thought we were the racist party :-) No, we're the ones who keep hoping..........
Sam, excellent point there about emergency workers all trained and all getting along SO well.
I was just thinking my 250 strong bible study is approx 20% Black...but nobody notices, if you get what I mean. They're just fabulous bright, handsome, kind women whatever the heck their color is. It's also about 20% Asian and 10% Hispanic, I'd guess. We're reading something positive, we pray for each other, we study and listen to the same lectures ...and there's a lot of love in that place...certainly not even close to a hint of racism!!!
When people get to know and trust each other, there IS no barrier.
Wonderful article to post Z.
I will speak from my experience of working with all racial groups in my current career field: The perpetuation of race, racism, and tension between people of differing heritage is most certainly brought on by the progressive left's deconstruction of our society.
Most of the people I see daily are not wrapped up in racial issues, but they are trapped within the cycles created for them by the enabling of underachievement and entitlements. Most of the so-called civil rights activists today are only concerned with filling their bank accounts, gaining more power and keeping this idea of inequality alive within so-called minority groups so they do not lose their higher social standing and positioning. Narcissistic to say the least.
Naturally, the human instinct of survival sets in when people feel trapped in dire circumstances (whether those circumstances are synthetically generated or unfortunately handed down) and some grab at whatever hand outs are available without the bright idea of trying to rise above the hardships. They accept the victimhood projected onto them by loud mouth 'activists" who are only concerned with their own fame, fortune and power structure.
A friend of mine recently stated that he is tired of all the racial crap going on. He is further tired of hearing the people around him complain about how this country doesn’t give blacks anything and that the whites have everything. He said he is blunt whenever anyone around him starts to spout this garbage and he points out that he isn’t an African American --he tells them he never lived in Africa and never wants to go to Africa. He tells them he is a black man and doesn’t need the title of African American, Black American or what have you. He said, “I am an American. I’m glad I am an American and people need to stop giving out and putting on labels.”
I agree. When people stop acting like victims and start taking on personal responsibility and start teaching their children and others around them that this life is what you make of it --only then will we see any real change in this country. Oh, and deflating the windbags such as Sharpton, Jackson, and the rest of the racist spewing con men would help tremendously. If they haven’t an audience they haven’t the power. People need to stop listening to the dividers of this country. It is obvious who they are.
Oh dear I have rambled.
Anonymous...that's not too intimidating, huh? (SARCASM on my part) Love the line about 'In Los Angeles, I need papers". As IF. Odd, because I need papers, too, if I do the slightest thing wrong in Los Angeles.."Driver's licence, any form of ID, please?" But, suddenly, we can't ask a black or hispanic...oh, no.
Oh , and ducky:
you suggest that....
1. The NBPP is a handful of nutlogs and has only a couple dozen "members".
YA, AND IT ONLY TAKES ONE NUTLOG TO REALLY MAKE YOUR DAY, DOESN'T IT. pHILADELPHIA ALONE, APPARENTLY HAS APPROX 200 MEMBERS.
THE ORIGINAL PANTHERS DECRIED THIS NEW GROUP THE MINUTE THERE WAS TROUBLE. clever.
2. No voter filed intimidation charges. One did call police and mention that Prime Minister Shabazz or was outside the polling place and he was removed without incident.

I TRUST HIM MORE THAN YOU, DUCKY, SORRY. AND DO YOU SUPPOSE LEFTWINGERS WOULD HAVE PROTECTED KLAN KRAZIES STANDING WITH NIGHTSTICKS OUTSIDE A POLL PLACE? LET'S SEE, WOULD YOU HAVE SAID "GIVE 'EM A BREAK, THERE WERE ONLY A COUPLE, AND ..." YA, RIGHT.
3. Attorney General Mukasey filed the case as a civil misdemeanor.
http://www.courthousenews.com/2009/01/08/Mukasey_Says_New_Black_Panther_Party_Intimidated_Voters_Black_and_White.htm
4. Attorney General Holder agreed that there was insufficient evidence for a criminal charge.
AGREED WITH WHOM? :-)
WHAT'S THAT? The original civil decision was made by the BUSH AG? Glenn Beck never told me that.
Z; YOU WOULDN'T HAVE THE INTELLECTUAL CURIOSITY TO CHECK ON ANYTHING BECK SAYS, PLUS IT'D SCARE YOU TO DEATH WITH 'COINCIDENCES' ABOUT THE LEFT, TRUST ME!.. BUT I THINK WHATEVER HAPPENED DURING THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION IS ....UM.OVER.
In fact it's pretty clear who wants to stir up the issue of race here and it sure ain't Jesse Jackson who, blessedly, has been virtually invisible for years.
THAT'S AN ATROCIOUS AND RIDICULOUS CLAIM BUT WHY WOULD ANYBODY WANT TO STIR UP RACE PROBLEMS...YOU REALLY THINK THE RIGHT DOES?
THOUGH JACKSON'S HARDLY BEEN INVISIBLE (STILL SAYING OBAMA'S 'ACTING WHITE'), HE'S CERTAINLY BEEN BANISHED FROM COMING CLOSE TO OBAMA. MUST BE THAT OBAMA FEELS COMFORTABLE IN HIS STANCE AND DOESN'T HAVE TO WORRY THAT BEING SEEN WITH JACKSON WILL SHOW HIM FOR WHAT HE IS, :-)
The Bush attorney general ... and who is stirring up race as an issue?
THE LEFTWINGERS HAVE NOTHING ELSE, DUCKY, EVERYONE KNOWS THAT. NOVEMBER'S COMING AND THEY HAD BETTER LABEL REPUBLICANS WITH 'RACISM'. THANKFULLY, MOST PEOPLE DON'T BELIEVE THAT, BUT IT'S BEEN PRETTY UGLY TO WATCH. PRETTY DESPERATE. BUSH'S AG HAS ZIP TO DO WITH THIS AND IF THAT'S THE BEST YOU'VE GOT TO OBFUSCATE BARTLE BULL AND EVERYONE ELSE WHO'S TRYING TO POINT OUT THE TRUTH, YOU'RE IN WORSE SHAPE THAN I THOUGHT.
HERE'S THE DEAL....BIG BLACK GUYS HANGING WITH DARK CLOTHING AND NIGHTSTICKS AREN'T TO STAND OUTSIDE VOTING PRECINCTS. IT JUST CAN'T HAPPEN... MAYBE, SOMEDAY, THE TRUTH ABOUT THE HOUSTON PRIMARIES WILL FINALLY BE LISTENED TO...THE DOCUMENTARY'S ALL THERE SHOWING INTERVIEW AFTER INTERVIEW OF WHITES AND BLACKS SAYING OLD PEOPLE WERE TOLD TO 'GO HOME IF YOU'RE VOTING FOR HILLARY AND NOT OBAMA'. SOMEHOW, THOUGH, GIGI CAN'T GET THE NETWORKS TO SHOW THAT......GOOD JOB, DUCKY; HIDE THE TRUTH, EXCUSE INTIMIDATION WHERE WE VOTE, AND CALL GOOD PEOPLE RACISTS FOR NO REASON; THAT'S NOT THE AMERICA I KNOW.
LESLIE, thanks for that input and God bless your black friend....he sure gets it right. I'm sorry most for people like him who just want to BE AMERICANS and believe what they want to believe. It must be hard to have leftwingers pushing you like "because you're Black, you have to think this way"..and that's what's happened for YEARS.
Of course, the new wave of victims is HISPANICS, whom Obama's looking to legitimize without Congress....sure, more dem voters..get those hands out NOW...the Dem's will fill them. How disgusting.
According a Heritage blog, at the first hearing of the incident, almost a doz. NBPP showed up dressed in paramilitary uniform. One walked to the front of the room and took photos of the three witnesses. The judge apparently allowed it.
There were witnesses, including a Black woman who saw two blacks turned away. There is plenty of evidence. The creeping lawlessness inside the DOJ has said they do not care about intimidate or fraud. They are only interested in increasing voters.
Ducky, if I happened to be at that polling place, I wouldn't be asking for a headcount of black men in the NBPP.
I'd just know the two I was looking at were up to no good, and even looking to start something.
Intimidation and threatening voters is against the law, no matter who does it. Furthermore I don't give a hoot which AG made the decision, it was the wrong decision.
The message this decision sent out was, it's ok to intimidate and threaten voters. It was an example of cowardice to give these men a pass, IMO, because they're black.
This is a good example of what Walter Williams writes about. If these two men were skinheads, they would have been charged. My goodness here we go again, more profiling.
It's an insult to every law abiding black citizen to excuse black hoodlums who break the law. It says they're different, or childlike, or inferior, so let's give them a pass.
If you feel sorry for them because they're black you're guilty of putting them in a lower class than everyone else. I don't.
It's your kind of thinking which created this mess in the first place, treating black people as though their children, inferior to you, who need to be coddled and taken care of.
Whose crimes are excused because you think they don't know any better.
You've heard the phrase, "biting the hand that feeds you"? You know what that means? It means you're resented because the one being fed is presumed not to be able to feed himself. It's a matter of pride. He'll take the food, but his pride suffers for it.
That's what affirmative action wrought. It's what paternalism and condescension does. These things continue the separation between the races. Different standards, and different expectations for different races. This is racism.
Or as President Bush put it, "the soft bigotry of low expectations".
And now, the first black President exploits black people. Uses them as fodder to keep the separation alive. He needs it to keep his power.
As Janine Garofalo says, it's racism "straight up". She just has the wrong people as the perpetrators of which she is one.
Steve, IMO any epithet is, crude, ugly and unnecessary, no matter who uses it.
Pris
Racism or Stupidity? Is there really any difference?
The question is: "Has our moral obligation to right the wrongs of discrimination, been fulfilled"?
My answer is yes. AA has become not only a crutch and a tool to be used against the majority of citizens in this country..it has morphed into an out of control boondoggle as have too many programs or policies administered by the federal government.
And it's broke. Just as the railroads are, the "education" departments, medicaid, social security, immigration, our border security...our conduct of wars....national security and especially the electoral process in America. We're a hollow shell of what we once were only 30 years ago.
When illegal minorities can come here and claim or be immediately qualified for AA....as people of "color" it's clear that the program designed originally to "uplift" blacks is broken. People who have never been discriminated against in this country by an ancient policy of legalized slavery... are granted special favors and benefits due solely to the color of their skin.
Any program which aims to end poverty and promote equality and disqualifies any other person because they're white...is...racism, plain and simple.
Judging by the state of racial relations and the economic / educational condition of many blacks in the US today...I'd say it's been only marginally successful. And having reached some undefined goal...the US should end it's practice. Reparations in the form of 50 years of racial discrimination...need to be ended.
It just cannot go on forever and punish future generation that have never know discrimination.
"Beyond our continuing obligation to assist those African-Americans still in need, government-directed diversity programs should end." Jim Webb..
However...the race hustlers, cbc, core, rainbow coalition, hbc and the national association of always complaining people...of course disagree.
Yet while many blacks have reached middle class...yet many blacks have college diplomas....but how many were purely merit based, rather than color based? I'd like to see some stats on that myself. That aside...even with those small successes the Feds should say we've done all we can. Those of you who are still mired in poverty, ignorance and stupidity...welll...you missed the boat and it's no longer our obligation to make everyone equal in this country.
Dr. Williams is absolutely correct. I can tell you that, sadly, education is not something that is valued in the gangsta rap convict culture that so many youth have adopted. Black kids who actually do want to do well in school and succeed are picked on for "acting white."
"That's what affirmative action wrought. It's what paternalism and condescension does. These things continue the separation between the races. Different standards, and different expectations for different races. This is racism."
Prisc...you have hit the nail on the head...once aagin. Or should I say like Ms. Z...as always?
But according to this statement, it's clear that it's not enough and legalized racism and discrimination will continue and it's sickening:
"The head of the Virginia NAACP has skewered U.S. Sen. Jim Webb for arguing in an op-ed piece that affirmative action programs should end.
King Salim Khalfani, executive director of the state NAACP, wrote: "Do you really believe that affirmative action has hurt white, Anglo-Saxon Protestants or are you pandering to the divisive, conservative, Tea Bagger types whose votes you will need in 2012?"
The use of the vulgar term clearly aimed at whites...is a clear signal that hostility will continue and is escalating.
The division of the races and ethnic minorities has accelerated despite all the mea culpa's and federal handouts paid wholly by...we the taxpayers and non beneficiaries of this racist government approved, racism.
It will not get better IMO. When the POS Ozero talks about the "divides" among us..the Gates and the Sherrods...who are clearly racist but excused because of their color. Post racial? Post? No...according to Sherrod....we're all racist. ( Keep in mind...this woman and her husband, received $13,000,000.00 from the feds in "settlement". Quite a jackpot of pandering isn't it? )
Major
AA has become a huge, monolithic, slobbering monster. Where not only blacks feed at the tit of AA...too many others have "benefited" as well.
( Easy girls...lets not get hostile yet! If you're against AA...you're against all beneficiaries of AA due to color, class and GENDER! Right? )
Women for one. Does anyone feel more secure when they see a woman 5'2", 110 lb woman firefighter or a cop? Do you feel all warm and fuzzy knowing that a woman can't handle a 250lb, 6'4" crazed felon at a road stop? Or do you feel better when you see that she has to call for backup and 5 other cop cars show up, all male, to backup the "little lady"?
Yea....I swear...I think it's great that many women have broken that glass ceiling in the corporate world. But just how many executives in big corporations have felt compelled to...ahhh....hire by the numbers? "X" number of blacks..."X" number of women..."X" number of Asians..."X" numbers of handicapped..."X" number of 2.0 GPA's...."X" number of midgets...."X" number of dwarfs?
Quite a burden trying your best to staff a company and...errrr....meet "diversity" mandates...ain't it?
How many of you have waited in line at the post office for an hour while the lone minority with 4'' long fingernails with glitter...attempted to type into the PC?
I've seen it...as well as 6' wide and 4'8" tall...black woman "sheriff"( with a damn gun too ) while trying to bail out a friend....who was jailed for a burned out lite on his license plate?
It's all a very sad damn joke. Look at the employment in DC at all the Federal buildings...seen any white..."folk"
Nope...cause civil service is the biggest most generous tit in America.
"Or as President Bush put it, "the soft bigotry of low expectations"."
Pris, in my humble opinion, this was the most meaningful quote of Bush's administration..thanks for that reminder.
Anon: "Any program which aims to end poverty and promote equality and disqualifies any other person because they're white...is...racism, plain and simple." so well said, thanks for that.
Malcontent, they are one in the same, aren't they.
Maggie, if we had a REAL working media.....
And then, when the right tries to bring things to peoples' attention, they're maligned and laughed at as RIGHTWING....it's almost intolerable and such a terrible insult to our country.
Most of your comments are excellent.
I'm not nuts about the comments about only blacks working fed jobs, tho I know that's nearly true...I have to consider why it bothers me; probably because I know so many black Americans who don't and who are raising terrific kids. Well, not "SO MANY" but many; many more than WE HEAR OF in the news, that's for SURE.
Affirmative Action is an insult today. So is passing black kids just to make quotas or out of guilt........it does NOTHING for the kids, that's for sure. WHat a terribly degrading thing to think about yourself.
I WISH SO SO MUCH that Obama would take the helm and encourage black kids to do well; I haven't heard ONE THING out of him about that, have you?
He's too busy making people dependent on the gov't and making sure kids are singing "MMMM >..Barack Hussein Obama!" $*#@^$*@#^
"I'm not nuts about the comments about only blacks working fed jobs, tho I know that's nearly true...I have to consider why it bothers me; probably because I know so many black Americans who don't and who are raising terrific kids."
So...Ms. Z...why does it bother you if you know it's the truth? I don't think for one minute that your affirmation makes you a "closet racist". It's just a fact. Whether it's a cause of AA or other discriminatory policies doesn't lessen the insult to too many other qualified people...who just haven't been the right color all their lives.
You have to admit...you're black...you're on track....you're white...you ain't right.
See...this is why this AA crap is still in existence...white guilt. Patronizing, paternalistic, soft bigotry, low expectations...a continuation of AA only affirms what many people already believe. Blacks...cannot make the grade unless we ignore their "qualifications" and only use skin color as the sole criteria.
Now...AA is really doing the reverse of it's intent. It elevates Latinos' & illegals above the needs of blacks. Once more...and they don't know it....blacks are getting the scraps...the crumbs...in favor of illegals. Quite a conundrum...eh?
Namaste....You're hot!!!
Sorry...I couldn't help it.
Just a white guy that appreciates real beauty!!
GOOD NEWS"
The commandeer of stupidity has once again miscalculated our opposition to Arizona and the rule of law...Latinos against all Americans. He has created another huge wedge that Americans can use against...this "post racial" puke. Over 60% of Americans support Arizonas attempt to enforce the law...sometimes up to 70%. Obama...is fostering more racism and trying to get the "Latino" vote against those who are opposed.
"The Arizona law is massively popular in the United States. Over 60 percent of all American voters support it. But the president has sought and has succeeded in stopping it from taking effect. Now this majority -- close to two-thirds of the electorate -- that backs the law will be able to focus their blame for its non-enforcement squarely on the president of the United States."
It's...Latino against non Latino...flat out.
The demrats want to... and are dividing us...they want...they need...racial and ethnic divisions. Legal vs Illegal? Did you ever think the bastards would line up against the will of the citizens? It's time...time to end these bastards rule...time to send the Rangels and Waters to jail...just like you and I would...if we cheated...stole and lied about our tax obligations with the IRS...we'd go to jail. But two Negros who have benefited immensely from AA...are exempt? Because we're afraid to call them crooks and thieves? Cause they're a protected species?
Anyone see any overt...ahhh...racism here
No one in the family is aware of any white blood at all" God forbid.
Must have been a rouge Neanderthal
ANONYMOUS "I don't think for one minute that your affirmation makes you a "closet racist"."
That's the last thing I thought of myself. I just don't like that some black women have put themselves in the negative position you describe; and I'm not sure how they get OUT of it. By the way, I SO agree about women police of ANY size and height or color...NOT A GOOD THING as far as protecting against huge drugged out criminals!
the last thing my black friends have ever made me feel is GUILTY, but it's hard to shake that feeling off from the reactions of some people I've met.
My Sunday Faith blog just wrote itself again...I'm eager for you all to see it tomorrow as it comes perfectly on the heels of this Williams article and some of your comments.
By the way, Maxine Waters is a very difficult woman and her speech to the NAACP exhibited a kind of racism we'd all have been arrested for or at least castigated in the media had we said anything CLOSE to what she said. I'll try to find a video but I'm busy this afternoon.
Mustang, I left at 11 and got back around 3 (you're right!) xx
More proof of the demrats intent to divide, conquer and exacerbate the racial divide:
Leahy obstructs investigation into the NBPP
Time...long past due...for our own "special ops"...
Rape...no longer a crime in New Jersey...as long as you're a muslim and it's a part of...your "faith".
Want to rape with abandon? Go to Jersey...home of the "Jersey Shore"..claim you're a muslim and you acted according to your "beliefs". Hey Cristie...I'd say you have a bigger problem than the "Sopranos or the guidettes on Jersey Shore"? Or hell...the 6 million muslims at 6 flags?
Please come to Jersey City...Rape in New Jersey is OK
I love that story of that white baby born to the Nigerians! Isn't she beautiful? But, MAN, are their 2 other children gorgeous!
How hilarious is that? it has to be some white genes SOMEWHERE! :-)
Mustang, I did not completely explain myself because I did not want to rattle on too long :-)
You are dead on about white racism during the previous 50 years but what has followed is not justified by that.
I also want to make clear that I was speaking of blacks because that was the subject of Z's post. If there is one thing we can be proud of is that the damage from the war on poverty was not felt along racial lines. It was an equal opportunity destroyer of lives.
Reality is that we have ignorant people of all races who blindly follow politicians that have made the same promises of helping them improve their lives for decades. These people are just too stupid to realize that the help isn't coming.
Z, I see good people of all races everyday. They want nothing different than us, a decent life for them and their family.
Ducky, I just don't how you type the stuff you do. You can't possibly believe it.
Thanks Major, it serves the President's political goals, to have a divided country. People at each other's throats, and a crisis mentality, which is pervasive.
I think if we, as Americans had been left alone, by now, things would be much more harmonious. We evolve as we grow, and accept as we learn as a society in our own time.
Instead, the fire is stoked at every turn, by politicians and poverty pimps, for personal gain, and we're expected to put it out with handouts and apologies.
It never could work, and never will, not that way. They don't care. It serves their purpose just the way it is now.
Yes Z, President Bush had it exactly right, but no one listened.
Pris
Vote for the Retarded...he deserves a seat in Congress along with the other 535 mentally challenged.
AA...working for you!! Give a moron a chance too.
Alvin Greene...what South Carolina deserves in Congress
Chuck, great comment "Z, I see good people of all races everyday. They want nothing different than us, a decent life for them and their family."
I couldn't agree with you more and am happy that you see it, too. I hope none of my comments gave another impression, please let me know if they did! I mean that sincerely! xx
Anon! "Let's not forget the traitorous dem bastards giving the "King Of Mexico" a standing ovation for telling Americans...before Congress."
I'll never forget that as long as I live...what a low moment in American history.
Alvin Greene..what can we say? he's a problem! :-)
Pris, why do you think Obama wants us so divided? It's very clear he seems to, in my opinion, too. He's NEVER made a speech that sounded remotely like UNITING..he's missed great chances, he's stirred the racial pot in terrible ways, etc etc....and, someone tells me they asked him on THE VIEW about race and he differed with something like "something I can't really address" or something.
Anybody hear that, by the way?
Man O Man....it's as clear as a chiming bell in a winter solstice...that race is still a truly dividing issue among all Americans.
When...just when... and how will the reverse racism stop?
Will it be Jim Webb....a Dem? Or will it be blamed on the Tea Party?
z, you seem to have a member of Stormfront posting as "anonymous".
Impertinent...remember GRANNY from FPM? Years ago...Ducky, you might remember her. Darned if I can't remember her screen name, she was MARVELOUS.
She's a black woman who lives in MO and has joined the tea party and is getting a lot of attention in the black community; good attention.
She'll be commenting here soon (RIGHT, G?):-)
She says there's great hope.
Ducky, I don't know Stormfront.
am going out to dinner ..see y'all later.
Jess, nice to see you!
You know, you make such sense but there's another point aside from your obvious one and that's the fact that children in Afghanistan are LEARNING without state-of-the art things we have here.
They're learning because they WANT TO and they don't need much more than we did during the Prairie one-room school houses...
While there ARE black children doing well in school, whose parents are demanding excellence, we need a lot more of that...no matter WHAT color the family might be, come to think of it.
//Ducky, I just don't how you type the stuff you do. You can't possibly believe it.//
It's easy, Chuck. He just hits the keys like we do. But the words come out wrong.
LA, maybe his computers broken?
something's broken, that's for sure.
Love for America for one thing.
Now what did you object to Chuck?
The fact that all you right wingers just love to talk about race?
That you can't get enough of it.
That z posts something that says absolutely nothing positive about black youth and you just suck it down?
Or are you referring to Harkonnen bragging about how many "n bombs" he can drop? Class act.
He may even be the "anonymous" poster from Stormfront. If you didn't object to that junk then well you know your own heart, maybe.
Ducky, you sound ridiculous.
stop it.
Ducky, I was just thinking that yes, we are obsessed..as you've seen in any of my posts on race, ALL of us conservatives have such a hard time with the cheap bill of goods that Dems have sold Black Americans that we need to talk about it..we wish all Americans felt like we did, we believe that Black America's every bit as capable as ANY AMERICAN, we believe it's sad that textbooks have written out black American HEROES from our founding days, we think it's terrible that our media focuses on gangs instead of successful black teens...
Ya, we "love to talk race"..we want the best for ALL Americans and, until we see that happening, we'll continue to talk race.
//LA, maybe his computers broken?//
And then again, maybe not.
Duck,
all you right wingers just love to talk about race?
That you can't get enough of it.
You're stereotyping.
"something's broken, that's for sure.
Love for America for one thing."
I can't argue with that, Z. Something is definitely broken and its obvious that a concentrated effort has been made to break it and destroy the founding ideals which made America unique in the world. Tools such as racism and class warfare are both used — so, who and what are behind that?
I don't think it's by accident that "the Protestant work ethic" and capitalism are denigrated by those who would destroy those values ... and it just happens that those values are those upon which America rose to greatness. So what happens when and if the enemies of America succeed? Will the world revert to a dark age of enslavement to a power i which those who "know better" will lord it over the poor dumb unwashed masses who reject the superiority of their "betters"?
One could probably make a strong case in which America's success must be destroyed because it succeeded too well in creating a life on Earth which misery and despair was not the common everyday existence as had been the case in most of previous history.
In the "brave new world" people will be again living in a dark world of need and want — so of course the "new superiors" will once again have a useful function in promising a better future in another life rather than being happy in this one.
That would explain the unity of cause behind the enemies of America as seen in socialism and Islam ... since both those systems require complete surrender and submission of the individual to the superior knowledge and ability of those who would rule. So, IMO, it's completely logical that there exists an axis of common belief and a common to be destroyed — individualism and rationality to be replaced by collectivism and irrationality.
Waylon
Waylon, excellent comment. But the thought that a whole country, over 300 million people, can be THIS duped so that such a very few get power is so bizarre to me...and probably naive.
Duckhead, I have watched black kids die, primarily from the drug trade, but also largely due to the failed policies you leftist POS' champion. Don't assume you know what I think or feel about minorities.
I objected to literally your entire comment but then this is nothing new for me.
The flip side of racial hatred is self-loathing. Blacks who feel education and striving to better oneself through hard work and personal responsibility is ''betrayal of blackness'' certainly have a lot to loath in themselves. Sad. Johnnymac.
Hi, Johnnymac, it's the kids who seem to feel that way. It's not COOL to do well in school, dontchaknow.
Maybe adults, too, but I know some quite successful Black friends!
Bon soir Madame. I think if Martin Luther King were alive he'd be appalled at the state of black America today. How can it not be ''cool'' to be educated and successful? J'Mac.
Ducky,
Why do all incidents of black Americans reporting voter intimidation by police units at polling places always originate in localities where law enforcement is governed by Democrats?
Is your party ever going to let go losing the Civil War?
beamish, wait till you see the stuff the Dems pulled in 2008 during the primaries...INCREDIBLE...tomorrow's post; with 2 videos. MANY interviews.
J'Mac, such a good point. Dr King would be so saddened, wouldn't he.
It's good his niece, Dr Alveda King's closer to his beliefs than some of his own kids are, I think.
Z, looking forward to it.
Had the Clintons not been given 3 nights to preen at the 2008 Dem convention even though Hillary had the popular vote majority from all primaries and caucuses and Obama was awarded delegates in states where his name wasn't even on the ballot, there would have been a cross-burning.
Barack Obama getting the Dem nomination via affirmative action still sticks in the craw of a majority of Democrat voters.
