Is Mr. Bush REALLY giving early clearance to Obama team people? Please let me know...

The German media has reported that President Bush, in an effort to be kind and accomodating, has given full White House security clearance to approximately 100 obama workers. This is a first. Apparently, this never happens until the official Inauguration Day and so I wondered if anybody else had heard about that and what your thoughts are on this. Mine are not printable.

President Bush also has said that he wants to help obama 'hit the ground running' because his will be a 'wartime presidency'.. "Wartime presidency? Obama's?" Does Mr. Bush know how obama feels about the war? I found this from his recent speech about the election results: "We've provided intelligence briefings to the President-Elect, and the Department of Justice has approved security clearances for members of his transition staff. In the coming weeks, we will ask administration officials to brief the Obama team on ongoing policy issues, ranging from the financial markets to the war in Iraq. I look forward to discussing those issues with the President-Elect early next week. "

Does nobody vet anybody anymore? I guess if we can have an unvetted president, we can have unvetted staff members, huh? But, at a time when terrorism is lurking? We have a president-elect who couldn't pass security clearance, we have a staff being rushed in by the justice department, and we have this next president who's promised ACORN they would all be invited to the White House before his inauguration to "help me shape the agenda." It seems to me that Mr. Bush has just made it that much easier. ... I'm not against Bush, I just question this move; tell me I'm wrong.

(you all notice how giddy Mrs. Bush looks these days? I so can't blame her!)

UPDATE: This is the kind of people we're dealing with as far as 'diversity' that obama's supposedly hoping to implement: "Podesta also said Obama is working to build a diverse Cabinet. That includes reaching out to Republicans and independents — part of the broad coalition that supported Obama during the race against Republican John McCain. Defense Secretary Robert Gates has been mentioned as a possible holdover.
"He's not even a Republican," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada said. "Why wouldn't we want to keep him? He's never been a registered Republican."

That's showing a real will to reach across the aisle, isn't it!? Man, that Reid is REALLY quite a guy, huh?

Normally, a background investigation takes weeks. I suspect the FBI have been working on a BI for staffers in both camps for a while now, even before the election. As it turns out, the way security clearances work, the FBI does the investigation, but the senior department head decides whether or not to grant a clearance based on what the investigation revealed.

In this case, I can't imagine that BO would deny a clearance to any of his cron ... er ... gang ... er ... staff. Can you?

Is acceleration of the process valid? Probably ... if Bush wants to have a smooth transition into the next administration.

Of course she's giddy. Her husband has been subjected to a constant rain of the most inhumane vitriol in the history of the presidency. I don't make that statement lightly as I take history seriously. What makes his treatment unprecedented is that the MSM and lefties have combined to try to drive Bush into the ground. The reach of the media and the collusion of the MSM have combined to make their agenda reach out on a global level. Nicholas Kristoff of the NYT wrote an article that said that merely the election of BO has vaulted the US back onto the world stage and single-handedly has restored the esteem in which we are held back to the high level of the pre-Bush days. Boy logic like that is hard to argue against. With the MSM drinking that deeply of the Kool-Aid, it will be a tough job breaking through the hero worship. As for how much the Bush WH is actually cooperating, I wait for the MSM to trash him and then I'll know he hasn't sold out.

I don't know, Law and Order..I'm real sour on this one. I don't see why Conservatives are the ones bending over backwards all the time........why, especially, when we have a man as untrustworthy and scary as obama, do we approve 100 of his people so unprecedentedly FAST? You know it's said that, with his alliances, HE couldn't get security clearance to work for the FBI!!I'm all for lots of what Mr. Bush has done, but it's these kinds of things that get to me.

Mustang....all I know is it's never been done this quickly and while I wouldn't approve of Bush doing anything like the Gore people did to him when he came in, facilitating THIS bunch of cron...er..gang..er..staff, BUGS ME!!!

good grief girl..reaching across the aisle eh!..pffttt!!!!

I agree with Mustang. And Z, there are different levels of clearances. I wouldn't think it necessary to give lower levels of staffers higher levels of clearances.

It depends on the positions the staffers would hold. The people in on the Intelligence briefings would, I would think, receive higher classifications of clearances.

We are at war, so this is probably necessary.

Heck, half the Clinton staff probably couldn't receive clearances either under normal circumstances. Maybe even Clinton himself, or Obama for that matter, given his associations.

That being said Bush is a decent man and no doubt willing to bend over backwards to facilitate the transition. If it weren't for the war, it probably wouldn't have been accelerated.

I'm sure also, there won't be any "O's" missing from keyboards either.

Pris, I was actually hoping that the Bush Administration would do something clever before the next administration takes over.

Z - I think conservatives are the ones bending over backward all the time because conservatives really care about this country.

I'm with you on the fact that Obama still has not been properly vetted (he still hasn't even provided a proper Certificate of Live Birth).

However, remember how difficult the Clintons made the transition for Bush...and then eight months later 9/11 happened. I think Bush cares deeply for this country. My theory is that he wants a smooth transition for our protection. He wants the next administration to hit the ground running because he knows first hand how important the smooth transition is to the safety of this country.

Sadly, we're stuck with that piece of crap for 4 years. I guess an extra 70 days or so won't much matter. Bush is being A LOT more accommodating to them than I would be, that is for sure! What do you think of his podium sign, "Office of the President Elect? EURRRRP---whoops! Where's my barf bag?

What makes his treatment unprecedented is that the MSM and lefties have combined to try to drive Bush into the ground.

Not to mention career government workers in the State Dept. and intelligence agencies who have bent over backwards to cause Bush to fail.

The MSM was calling Obama one of the great presidents the other day and he hasn't even been inaugurated yet. It was just based on the virtue of him winning the election.

OY Vay!

Plus, when you consider all the thugs Obama is hiring from the Clinton Administration (Gorelick stands out), they all had security clearances ... so it's just a matter of updating the BIs.

Gorelick in charge of anything is enough to give me warts. I worry about that phrase, "More bang for the buck." I think the next "bang" perpetrated by terrorists is going to be on a massive scale.

I love the way you all assume that everyone in the FBI, secret Service, and everyone else in charge of national security is an idiot, while you lot are the only ones who know how to do things. If you know so much, why aren't you actually serving our country, instead of griping about how every other American is a moron? You know who lost the election? People like you who make every Republican look like a nut case.

anonymous, nobody thinks EVERYBODY involved in national security is an idiot, just lots of them. SOME (I hope?) are also dedicated and smart.

20 years ago, though, I heard an ex FBI official give a speech in which he said they get NO (zero) good applicants anymore..NONE. To the CIA OR FBI..ALL don't pass the lie detector. That's ALL. The best and brightest, in America's hay day, came from the Ivy League Colleges..they get NONE from them anymore because our schools have them believing America isn't quite worth helping. We're scraping the bottom.

I thank God we still some of the older types who care about America.

As for the State Dept, most people realize this is still Clinton's State Dept and they're leaking confidential information and opting for transparency when most of us know that's not the BEST idea while terrorists are lurking...

No, I don't make every Republican look like a nut case....maybe you want to read the piece again. And the commenters who all have valid things to say.
That some people in this country ARE aware of the threats is a good thing...not nutty.

We all worked HARD to get a Republican elected; it's people who did nothing and didn't even vote who I'd be wary about.

Here's hoping Bush hands Obama the keys to the White House and says "welcome to the 'hood, B. Now you get to see what its like to live in government subsidized housing."
