To WIN in NOVEMBER.....a long-awaited new "Priscilla's Post"

To Win in November

Conservatives are on the march. Tea parties, town hall meetings, disillusion among Americans about the Obama administration and overreach on the part of leftist extremists, all add up to a chance in a lifetime to stem the tide of left wing, power hungry politicians who are determined to reach the heights they have dreamed of for a very long time.
The ball is now in our court. The game is on, and the far left is out from under the radar. We are challenged to remain calm, and dedicated to winning and running our opponents off the court. To accomplish this, first we have to decide the goal is to defeat our opponents. We cannot afford the luxury of narrowing our goals to a certain kind of win. A win is a win. However, we can raise the odds in our favor, if we’re careful and thoughtful about it.
About Scott Brown. I think for Massachussetts, he is a conservative. He has said he's opposed to the Healthcare Bill and Cap and Trade. If he remains true to those promises, then he will have proven to be true to his word.
Coakley had announced she'd vote for the healthcare bill. She lost and that's the important thing. That's a sea change in Massachussetts. A Republican won the seat. That matters. He won with help from tea party activists. That matters too. It shows that the people are organizing and have clout when we work together. Some conservatives are lamenting Brown’s vote for a fifteen billion dollar stimulus (jobs) bill. That is lamentable, but not fatal. Brown is from a very blue state, yet he won.
Now, if one is going to be such a conservative purist as to throw the baby out with the bathwater, we'll end up behind the proverbial eight ball. We must do everything we can to influence the vote for solid conservatives in Republican primaries. Once the winner has been chosen in that primary, I urge we support that candidate for election.
If we contribute and support solid conservatives in primaries, we have a good chance to pick up conservative seats in the House and the Senate.
To me, our goal should be, first and foremost, to defeat the liberal or leftist steamroller that has us in their clutches. If we pout, and withhold our support or stay home on election day because every candidate on the Republican tickets isn't conservative enough, we can look forward to two more, and possibly four more years of radicals in charge.
A lot of damage can be done during that time. Some of it, irreversible. It would take on a life of it's own. We have to remember one thing. As conservatives, we can lean on the Republicans and get results as we did on Immigration Reform. As it stands now, we have no clout when it comes to the Democrats. We may have some influence on blue dog democrats, but when push comes to shove, it’s a gamble which has already been shown to be less than successful.
This is not business as usual when it comes to politics, it's a fight against the far left. It's our future and our children's future which is at stake. Let's keep our eyes on the ball.
Here, I have a warning for Democrats in Congress. If they jam the healthcare bill through the process known as reconciliation, they will not merely lose some seats, they will face an election tsunami, the proportions of which will result in a clean sweep by Republicans.

The will of the American people must prevail if we are to remain a government of the people, by the people and for the people!....Priscilla

Pricilla knocked it out of the park... This is more than likely our last chance to reverse the socialist takeover of our country... Every single vote is crucial and no election is unimportant...

Great read Pris. I think now is the time for the GOP to strike. Voters in the US hadn't seen liberalism this far left for 30 years, we need to retake the country before they completely destroy it.

Ducky's here said...

As you go about saving the country I still have a couple questions that never get answered.

1. What "socialist" policies has Obama initiated. (N.B. Most of the bailout policies were initiated by Bush and his corporate lackey Paulson. Kapital rules)

2. While you claim to be more mainstream, isn't you political philosophy that America is exceptional and ordained by God with Kapitalism as the ordained economy? A fringe belief to be sure.

cube said...

Bravo, Pris.

Faith said...

Well argued I must say. Priscilla is an astute political thinker.

Faith said...

Ducky:

1. Healthcare. Healthcare. Healthcare. Atitude toward "climate change."

2. America IS exceptional, America WAS ordained by God (with supernatural events testifying -- you don't read the right books); Capitalism was always the economic standard here, a big part of our prosperity and success. All this can only be "fringe" beliefs NOW, after the country has been transformed by cultural Marxism over the last half century.

But I'm not politically astute and I look forward to others' answers to you.

Ducky:

1. Healthcare. Healthcare. Healthcare. Attitude toward "climate change."

-----------------------

The White House has given absolutely no support to the public option which I imagine is the far right's main objection to the bill. The bill is merely a giveaway to the insurance and drug companies.
Bush used to do this with energy companies. They were that particular administrations favorite. Dems like to reward insurance companies.
This is standard state corporatism. About the only one who has really fought for a public option is Pelosi and President Empty Suit has given her scant support.

So the question remains.

As for climate change. I submit that the irrational attitude of the far right (accent on far) is caused by their awareness that if this is to be managed then government is necessarily a player and that violates their primary tenet. Any government action ,unless it is military action which the far right adores, is "leftist". Hardly a reasonable position.

Z said...

Ducky, Empty Suit's on video at least twice saying that public option is his goal. If you read the bill, you'll see that private insurance, at least at one time, was going to be banned in some way two years after this bill had passed.
He had to run from Public Option because of the Tea Parties....they exposed it and he had to run. Yes, Pelosi is still on that bandwagon, relentlessly so.

Climate Change is not the point; Human CAUSE is the point, and you know that but the media obfuscates it because they have to ignore natural changes which have been repeated in history, hot and cold, back and forth, for centuries so they can promote GREEEEEEEN$$$.

You frequently say "Hardly a reasonable position" and sometimes I wonder if you REALLY believe you're so much more clever or right than everyone else? YOU think they are 'hardly reasonable positions'...many of us do not.
Most of us, in fact, feel that socialism is a very unreasonable position.

Ducky,

Right wing opposition, far right or otherwise, is strictly based upon the same grounds all of their oppositions to left-wing insanities are. In short, and you should know this because I remind you constantly, leftists are incapable of rational thought.

After all, it is not the right-wing proposing that the weather can be changed with a law.

Ducky's here said...

Yes, z, he says a lot of things and none of it gets done. He doesn't want to completely alienate progressives although he has done a pretty good job.

Keep your eye on the ball, what he does, not what he says.

I didn't expect an intelligent response from you, Ducky. That would be cruel of me, in light of the fact that I fully acknowledge that you're a leftist.

But I will call you on dishonesty. I've never said I believe string quartets utilize a conductor. (I did say string quartets can't play without their sheet music crutches] Your typically leftist lack of reading comprehension skills are causing you to hallucinate.

Back to the point at hand. Really, what is the goal of policies and legislation proposed by left-wing climate change / global warming cultists? To lower the Earth's allegedly spiking temperatures to prevent Al Gore's prophecy of global catastrophe?

It is as I said. Leftists want a law to change the weather.

Give me a sign that you're willing to debate honestly. Admitting you're an imbecile will demonstrate that honesty quite nicely.

Ducky's here said...

Yes, they want to change the weather. I assume you believe that insanity which leaves me little hope for dialog.

I am on the fence about man made warming. It's a complicated topic and there isn't much hope for a decisive answer any time soon.

However, it seems wise to hedge our bets. What if man made carbon emissions are part of the problem and may lead to a climate problem that is difficult to recover from naturally. We do not know that increased carbon emissions won't tip the natural cycle violently.

So we are in a real bind if the climate scientists are at all accurate which they may be. I say we have to consider serious conservation, alternatives and , yes, nuclear. We ain't getting out of this without it and you will notice that the socialist Obama has made that proposal.

Once again, the part of the program moving forward is:
1. The easiest to implement
2. Part of the conservative agenda

It might interest you to know that there is serious opposition to cap and trade on the left. Eric Alterman has absolutely ripped it apart in The Nation. Harper's has had several articles, one straight out calling it a scam.

Odd that these leftists who are incapable of thought might be allies if you were capable of serious discussion. I think the problem comes because the left realizes cap and trade is a "market solution" that leads to severe abuse of the process.

Anyway, Metallica is utter simplistic crap. Such an achievement. They can play a one bar repetitive hook without sheet music.

Z said...

Ducky, I find some of what you said sensible and even worth consideration....but this? "Odd that these leftists who are incapable of thought might be allies if you were capable of serious discussion."

Serious discussion is welcomed if the left would LISTEN to the Right..

Do you hear Obama and friends demeaning and dismissing? Did you see any of that health care 'summit'?
Any time the Right tried to talk about what got us to this place in the hopes that we can go forward NOT doing that again, all they heard was "party of no" "don't look back, we're going forward".."This isn't about politics, this is about policy".
It was astonishing.

I do agree that there are some on the left who haven't jumped off the progressive cliff and I'm hoping they take advantage of the net the Right's offering.

Thank you guys, except for Ducky of course.

" What "socialist" policies has Obama initiated. (N.B. Most of the bailout policies were initiated by Bush and his corporate lackey Paulson. Kapital rules)"

Honestly Ducky, where do you live besides in your own head?

Taking over auto companies, forcing them to make "green" cars that nobody wants or can afford, and appointing a Pay Czar, to determine ceo pay, bonus pay, and now talk of expanding it to institutions and corporations who didn't get a bailout. Forcing and overseeing the shutting down of hand-picked car dealers.

Govt. subsidising of mortgages, forcing lenders to renegotiate said mortgages and as recently as last week announcing a ban on forclosures.

Government takeover of all student loans with the proviso said students pay off their loans by working at a govt. job. I call that indentured servitude, but hey, that's just a technicality right?

Proposed healthcare plan. This would be a government takeover of 1/6th of the national economy. The words "public option", are a smoke screen to fool people into thinking if they're not written into the healthcare bill it's not in the works.

Well, the bill, without those two words, is a government takeover. Taxes, regulations, mandates, fees, panels regarding pay, rationing, patient restrictions based on personal habits, patient age, etc., affecting every aspect of healthcare.
Insurance cos., doctors, medical device manufacurers, and patients.

Single payer? Well after the government institutes taxes, and new regs. on insurance cos. their charges would have to rise, and ultimately become prohibitive. And guess who will be waiting in the wings to "save" us from the evil insurance cos. who now earn a profit of 3.4%.

As we speak the EPA is poised to put into place more government intrusion into our lives with more regs. and mandates regarding the hoax called global warming.

New financial rules, confusing tax codes of which our tax preparer characterized as putting her industry in a constant state of flux, and waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Yes, Bush initiated the tarp. After that, it's Obama's baby. He's sitting on 500 billion left from the first stimulus bill. A nice slush fund for a party with an upcoming election. This is not exactly socialism, this is raw corruption.

When government uses central control over private business it's called fascism. Maybe you prefer that word instead of socialism? Either way Ducky, we're toast!

Yes I regard America as exceptional and I'mm damned proud of it.

On your last question: "We are endowed by our Creator, with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness."

It's just common sense that in order to be free, our market must operate in freedom also, with as little govt. intrusion as possible. God did not prescribe capitalism, a free people did.

Serious discussion is welcomed if the left would LISTEN to the Right..

------------------------

You are not the final authority.

Have you been watching Jim Bunning (R - Near Uranus) lately? That can be listened to?

I don't know where you get the idea that you have the answers or your denial that your economics has not put this nation in a deep hole but the point is that the right has pretty much governed for 30 years now and truly messed up.

Now, please name a couple of figures on the right that I should listen to ... Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh? I haven't heard anything from them except the same warmed over Reagan junk.

Thing is we've been listening all this time as you ran the country into the ground. Watch what is going on in the Senate, there IS NO POSSIBILITY OF ANY progressive movement in this country. How many filibusters? They set a record and you still whine.

Remember, the right has driven the car into the ditch. We have listened for thirty years to your sanctimonious exceptionalism.

Come on, take a look at what's going on with Treasury auctions. We are having a tough time getting anyone to finance the debt. Who's buying? The Fed. We are in deep yogurt.
Eventually, the emergency gets awful enough that SOMEBODY steps up to the plate and starts swinging. Which is the problem, the tea baggers want to throw beer bottles and yell, but nobody wants to actually play the damned game now. And the umpire is about to say "play it or call it".

No, the far right is offering NOTHING but a few bromides and assorted failed platitudes.

Z said...

Ducky..you say "You are not the final authority." Did you even READ my comment to you telling you that exact thing? Where do you get OFF? YOu come here to my blog spouting off as if nobody else deserves to comment and everything you say is correct and when I pin you on it you tell ME I"m not a FINAL AUTHORITY?!

We're in deep poop because nobody'd listen to who you call CHUCKLENUTS as he warned about Freddie Mac and Fanny Mae....everyone knows that..but the media wouldn't air his viewpoints. We all saw the Black National Caucus being told by the head of Freddie Mac that EVERYBODY WILL HAVE A MORTGAGE because "YOu are the CONSCIENCE OF CONGRESS" Look what that RIDICULOUS leftist CRAP got us, huh?

Oh, but let's blame CORPORATIONS and PROFIT..how ridiculous. It's those corps which HIRE, it's those profits which keep this country moving... 'it's the rich who pay 80% of the taxes in this country! When they're gone, THEN WHAT, DUCKY?

"WE"VE BEEN LISTENING WHILE YOU DROVE THIS COUNTRY INTO THE GROUND!?" This country you DESPISE? What do you care? and WHO were you listening TO? It can't be US, your leftist unethical stinking media won't broadcast anything the Right says.
Did you know idiot lefties want to reshape HOT DOGS so kids won't choke? is there ANYTHING LEFTIST LAWS WON"T FIX?

Why not trying to respond to Pris now, Ducky, or is that too tough?

There are over 30 TRILLION dollars in credit default swaps outstanding. Bets that the housing market would continue to appreciate. All written during the Bush administration.
None of them mortgages and you continue to blame the Community Reinvestment Act? Are you that unwilling to look at what happened that you can't understand there was NO POSSIBLE WAY to write enough mortgages under the CRA to cause this problem?

Once again you fall back on that tired old bromide that there was a media conspiracy because the media didn't agree with you.

Ducky's here said...

'it's the rich who pay 80% of the taxes in this country! When they're gone, THEN WHAT, DUCKY?

--------------------

No, they pay a higher proportion of the INCOME TAXES and if you have been paying attention, income and payroll taxes (SSI) have become very close to equal as a source of Federal revenue.

So once again you parent a Limbaugh ("talent on loan from synthetic morphine") talking point that is absolutely inaccurate and wonder why your opinions meet resistance.

Next it will be the canard about our high business taxes when in fact our effective rate is one of the lowest in the world. A lot of people don't listen, z, because you aren't talking sense.

Z said...

Ducky, I don't EVER listen to Limbaugh so please STOP THAT.
I don't give a darn what your interpretation is, the RICH PAY MORE TAXES and they HIRE.
The Left knows that and are afraid of it because, for some reason I'll never understand, they're so much for big gov't that they can't allow private enterprise anymore.
If you think that's going to work, or they do, FINE...if you think America doesn't need a source of revenue other than Chinese loans, FINE, Ducky.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

Ducky,

There's nothing "complicated" about the climate change issue. It's not "settled science," it's wholly and entirely concocted bullshit.

My brother is a nuclear power plant technician, and he loves the silly idea of "cap and trade." He owns stock in the power company he works for. His nuclear reactor produces electricity at around 4 cents a kilowatt-hour, which his employer sells for 32 cents a kilowatt-hour. And coal powered electric companies will buy his nuclear powered electric company's "carbon credits" to stay in business under the proposed environmental regulations, which in turn will drive up the value of his stocks and the operating costs of the coal power plants, which in turn will raise the market cost of electricity so that the nuclear plant can charge even more thus increasing the value of his stocks and the cost of the carbon credits and on ad infinitum. It's a great get rich scheme, for nuclear power employees. At least until his paycheck is taxed to help poor people afford the electricity that has been priced out of their means.

I seriously doubt the left has thought that far (besides the dubious premise that thoughts ever occur in a leftist's head) to understand that the "cap and trade" nonsense is a get-rich-quick scheme for a very few at the expense of all American taxpayers. The left just believes it will make Al Gore's hyperventilating nightmares subside.

I don't need leftist "allies" to fight cap and trade. It's DOA even in a Dimwitocrat controlled Congress, a clear reflection that the left that wants it (name a rightie for cap and trade if you can) is a loud but still small number of imbeciles in the general spectrum of dumbasses left-of-center.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

And when coal power is buying carbon credits from nuclear power and passing that cost on to consumers in the form of higher rates, guess what is NOT happening under that scheme to raise energy prices?

No reductions in carbon emissions whatsoever. They've got credits, see?

Conservatives are on the march, but we cannot get cocky. Obama got voted in the first time by many young and/or gullible and/or idealistic voters. Many of those are upset with him, but that doesn't mean that he can't pull off another election.

Scott Brown voted for the Jobs bill, and I don't think that was very conservative, so time will tell.

there was NO POSSIBLE WAY to write enough mortgages under the CRA to cause this problem...

LOL! Once again you prove that you have absolutely NO idea as to how markets work, Mr. Ducky. What HUD did from 1995-2007 was to PURPOSEFULLY increase the number of "underqualified" buyers in the mortgage market (originally from 40% to over 60% of new loans) at a time when interest rates were extremely low and money was extremely easy to get (up to 100-120% of assessed value with little proof of ability to pay). This drove housing prices ever-skyward until the fateful day when the Fed raised interest rates in 2006 by a few basis points and the mortgage default rate went through the roof, exposing just HOW overpriced homes were and how underqualified those mortage holders were. But since housing prices had more than TRIPLED over the period from the "artificial demand" these additional underqualified buyers had created... the ENTIRE mortage market got reamed, as EVERYONE had payed FAR TOO MUCH for the stock of houses sold AND/OR refinanced during the period. And now, there are no buyers and a trememdous over-supply of housing. The best thing the government could do today to stabilize prices would be to buy and then LEVEL 1 million homes tomorrow.

Supply and demand, ducky.

Ducky gets points for criticizing Bush bailing out AIG. $700 billion was it? This is not free market. This is the government picking winners and losers.

He gives those points right back for pretending Obama's not a liberal after a $1 trillion stimulus plan.

Community Reinvestment Act. Encouraging loans that were too risky to make otherwise. I don't know how significant a factor this was, but bad economics regardless.

Can anyone recommend a good summary of the financial collapse and bailouts? Money was flying around so fast, I couldn't keep track.

How much longer till I get on my "end the fed" soapbox?

Yes. Excellent. I agree on all points. Bill Bennett said virtually the same thing on his radio show Morning in America the other day. We must learn to be PRAGMATIC and vote for the most conservative candidate we can find WHO HAS A REAL POSSIBILITY of WINNING the election. That means don't back people like Alan Keyes no matter how much you admire their rhetoric.

Now, I happen to agree with everything Ron Paul; stands for. I found him to be the most truthful, most correct and most persuasive of all the Republicans who participated in the primary debates leading up to the nomination. Nevertheless, I knew darned well he hadn't the proverbial Chinaman's chance of getting nominated much less winning the election, so I had no choice but to go with "The Party's Choice," even though I thought it stank to high heaven.

I don't care if he did spend five years in the Hanoi Hilton -- I DETEST John McCain, but I voted for him, because he was all we had -- and wasn't THAT a pity a shame and a crime?

Let's hope we can co,me up with better candidates SOON. The country is about to go over the falls if we can't reclaim -- and FAST.

Now who among us here believes that the ends would justify the means if we did something "dirty" to STOP OBAMACARE -- assuming it would WORK?

Obamacare will be like ObaMASSACRE if these filthy fiends shove it through using THEIR dirty tricks.

RECONCILIATION, anyone?

PFAUGH!

Pelosi's very busy making sure every shred of integrity in people who want to vote their conscience and do what they think is RIGHT is removed.
