Please read THIS blog today. It's about a young woman I'm lucky enough to know a little.
Click on MY STORY, top left, when you're there, but you still won't know the half of it. Please click on other 'blue circles' at the top of MY STORY and you'll see so much inspiration! She says "If you are not a believer, I would encourage you to read and see how I have responded in faith to what could have turned me away from my faith, but instead, has made it stronger. Read on to see how I choose Him EVEN AFTER this." And, believe me, 'Even after THIS' will blow your mind. Katherine is one of the absolutely most gorgeous girls I've ever seen (wait till you see pictures of her and realize that though nerves had to be cut, and her face isn't the same, she's still really beautiful) and, in April of 2008, with her first child only six months old and taking a nap, she fell to her knees in the kitchen, her hands went numb, she became nauseated and had suffered from a terrible stroke to the brain.
Her blog is called HOPE HEALS. Please send it to anyone who's doubting God since they became ill. Please send it to anyone who just wants to read a touching story of faith. Katherine, in spite of all she's gone through (almost 3 years of surgeries, recoveries, PT, which she still has) feels she is utterly blessed. As she says "we are all too blessed to feel bitter." She can't walk without a cane, she has a young, active son who she can't run after, she can't swallow certain things, half of her face dropped forever from the original surgery, but she feels blessed because she's always believed in Christ and has had too many miracles happen since she fell to the kitchen floor to believe anything else.
The first miracle happened because her husband had left but suddenly remembered he'd forgotten some papers and, just as Katherine was wondering how the heck she could reach a phone and call for help, he walked in and found her. Another of the miracles was that the ambulance which got her to the hospital was turned away because she was nearly dead, too nearly dead to treat. When they got to UCLA, a doctor took 10 minutes to decide whether he'd try. And he did. And she lived. An aside is that Gabrielle Giffords' husband honored Katherine and Jay Wolf for their courage and so much more.
I hope you honor her by reading her story and even more honor her by remembering what Katherine says
"HOPE HEALS. " Faith heals.
Romans 8:
"All things work for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose." Katherine believes so much in this verse and it's so clear that she's answered his call, his purpose, in reaching out to others as she does.
Have a great Sunday....

Z,
Thank you for pointing this out to those of us who frequent your blog.
I wish that my attitude were as positive as hers. I have a lot of "if only" moments and "we'll never do that" moments, too.
HI, AOW...to go through what she did and still have such faith is amazing, isn't it. But, of course, hearing her speak Thursday, she did admit many times that there were HORRIBLE lows! REALLY horrible lows most of us will never have to endure, hopefully. And she had to at 26 with a new marriage and a new baby. Her husband's been a ROCK, too...
Not sure what you mean by "if only" moments in context to Katherine...?
I have always told my kids that attitude is everything. I don't know how your friend kept her positive attitude, but God bless her.
She is a wonderful example to the rest of us. When we look at our problems, they don't compare to hers.
Thanks for the post.
Z - Thanks for this - for several reasons.
I'm in a hurry right now - but I wanted to see what your Sunday Faith Blog was about.
I'll come back and read all of it -but for now:
I'm going to share this with my two daughters
and
I noticed that her diet is the same as mine - if fact - just yesterday I sauteed and ate tofu - like it was pieces of meat. So I'll be watching her blog - not ony for Inspiration - but for tips on what I can eat.
Thanks Z - and have a great Sunday.
Sue, i was sorry Katherine had put on something about food on the Home Page because, while you KNOW I love to talk food (and cook and eat it!), I'm hoping you all click on the top blue circles on her Home page, particularly MY STORY, and then click into it again. You'll be amazed.
I hope your daughters are touched and inspired by it, too.
Bob, isn't she amazing? And absolutely gorgeous? She had faith before this, obviously, but she feels God's come through many times for her, in spite of the really hideous situation, and it's only made her MORE faithful. Not sure I could do that...I hope I never am tested like she still is...
Attitude is everything, that's for sure. But, we need something to spur on that attitude sometimes!
My goodness, what a wonderful example of courage, hope, and a deep faith which this lovely young woman has going for her.
It's also a love story. Her husband is her rock. They are what I like to call a team, working together to see this amazing journey end well. How beautiful.
This is truly a matter of heart, and fortitude.
Thanks for this post Z. It makes our problems seem a bit smaller, and sets the example of never being a quitter.
God be with this young couple. They have many birthdays to celebrate together, and milestones to overcome and I have no doubt, they'll do just that.
Z - I just got back from a walk - and talked to my daughter. I started to tell her about the website in your Sunday Faith Blog -and she has already seen it - and was very interested - and I know my other daughter will be too.
I'll be checking it out more - not just the food part - although that is important to me since I am on such a different way of eating than I ever have been.
Thanks - Z
I'll be seeing you - before the year is out. I know that.
She's too young for that Z... I'll keep a good thought for her.
My wife's been like that for years, Christian attitude in the face of neurological difficulties. I just posted something about it because of something she faces tomorrow.
I told her I'd read to her about Katherine tomorrow.
She'll be encouraged.
what a beautiful woman and just so young to have this happen to her. I admire her and her husbands' strength.
Ed I read your post and am so sorry to hear about your wife's condition.
Z thank you for sharing that story with us. I know you have been through alot too and it's nice how you care so much about others.
Lovely story Z, thank you for posting it, such people are inspiring and rare.
