MAGIC! Harry Houdini.........

The woman who was Harry Houdini's last stage assistant just died at the age of 103!  I found THIS fascinating!

Any of you like magic and have any stories about acts you've seen you couldn't believe with your own eyes?  Wouldn't you have loved to have seen Houdini in action?

This was such a blast from the past, to think someone was still alive who knew Houdini, that I just had to pass it on!    Have any favorite magic tricks yourself?

I have a friend who's a 3rd generation stage magician. Most of his tricks are done with playing cards.

He's so good at what he does he's banned from playing card games in local casinos!

He'll let you break the seal on a brand new deck of playing cards, shuffle them as much and for as long as you like, and then he'll deal out a poker hand to as many people as are participating, and then tell everyone in the circle what they have in their hands, and is NEVER wrong.

I have no idea how he does it. He claims it's a simple mathematical formula...

I've heard plenty about him, but not really into magic.

Wouldn't you have loved to quiz this woman about Houdini? I sure would've.

Elmers Brother: I thought that too.

A great Magic Trick would be to make Obama and Ducky disappear!

Imp, there's no magic THAT good !:-)

Yes, Cube and Elbro..Tony Curtis and I think Janet Leigh played the girl interest but he marries her so it's not THIS girl!

Cube, I'd have absolutely LOVED to talk to her about Houdini and all that happened back then, you're right.
I'm not a HUGE magic fan but HOUDINI? Man, what a great thing that would have been, to hear how he did things, etc....

Must be wonderful to be legendary forever, though I don't think our kids today learn about things like this, do you? And, truthfully, maybe I only knew about him from the old film!!

I guess Houdini was an interesting character, although, like you Z, I only have the Tony Curtis movie to go on. Illusionists kind of bore me.

Have any favorite magic tricks yourself?

Probably David Copperfield getting engaged to Claudia Schiffer to give the illusion of being straight. Making the Empire State Building disappear was more convincing.

Z's right, you're hilarious.

Reminds me of the Saturday Night News bit Kevin Nealon did when Copperfield got engaged to Schiffer. While showing a picture of the two, Nealon said, "For his latest trick, David Copperfield made Caludia Schiffer's taste in men disappear."

Craig,

Don't hate me because you're an idiot, hate me because I make you demonstrate it.

Craig, why is that ONLY (I mean ONLY) you and my other leftwinger, Ducky, are the ONLY (I mean ONLY) ones to rather gleefully out people? I find that odd...the 'big, open hearted crowd' and they can't WAIT to slam gays...
just plain odd.

It's projection, Z.

Craig's avatar used to be a picture of a female with her mouth wide open... make of that what you will.

Ducky gets ecstatic about Godard films. You just know he owns a feather boa.

My father got to see Houdini perform in D.C. Dad said that Houdini was a master of his art.

Beamish, that is funny!

AOW, WOW...another who was in Houdini's presence! Your dad must have been a kid!

Z, To the best of my knowledge, Mr. Copperfield is not gay. It was a little joke about his flamboyant persona. It may not have been funny and it was certainly a dated cultural reference but I didn't and have never outed anyone, ever.

I find that odd...the 'big, open hearted crowd' and they can't WAIT to slam gays...

Since the denizens of your blog make no pretense of being "big, open hearted" people, it's okay for them to slam gays and throw the 'faggot' word around. I get it. BTW, I was slamming D. Copperfield, not gays.

Craig's avatar used to be a picture of a female with her mouth wide open...

The operative word being "female" and, yes, I have that effect on women. I suppose an avatar of a guy fondling his ginormous piece and threatening to urinate on another man would make me muy macho. In a straight way.

"threatening to urinate on another man "

I should have added,

Like you did to me, beamish.

Craig, stop.

Yes, the leftists are THE ONLY ones who even disparage gays in ANY way.
you didn't..cool.

the fact remains.

I think it's real clear you and Beamish weren't meant to be friends, Craig; that happens.

I ask Beamish to cool the language, he does. I ask you to please follow suit, you don't. but, I won't delete unless it gets worse.
