The Swiss...

Well, my goodness!  A country whose people put the country before themselves...who knew? If you read THIS, YOU will !
Yup..the Swiss voted down a measure today which would have allowed SIX WEEKS PAID VACATION because experts said it would hurt the economy in many ways.  I'm stunned.  How about you? :-)

I don't know what a government is doing telling private companies how much vacation they have to give.

That's how it is in Europe. Also, the vacation time is almost always all at the same time. In France, September is called "Le Rentree" or "The reentrance" because everyone had left Paris in such droves even some restaurants are closed for the summer.
Scandinavians take off all at the same time and the traffic jams through Germany into Italy, etc., last for 24 hours! My husband used to say he left the day after everyone else and he'd breeze down the autobahn!

It's stunning that a people would vote against two more paid-for weeks of vacation, in my opinion.

Z - Great post - and very interesting article - but what I'm wondering is - who Really needs a six week vacation?

I've always felt that two weeks a year is enough - with time off for the usual holidays now and then.

I mean - Really - who can afford to do something Really fun - and pay for it - for six weeks out of the year.

What do you think - Z.

I wonder if Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece and Spain had any effect on their decision making.

I sure don't know, and I'm as surprised as you are Z.

Hi, Kid, I absolutely do think that Europeans are finally opening their eyes to the insanity and realizing they'll be Greece if they don't stop the handouts.
Germany is REALLY being taken advantage of but if they speak out against the immigrants (who get so much money you wouldn't believe it), they'll have THE FOURTH REICH IS RISING thrown at them. They're in such a bad position, it's like it was planned, honestly.
My stepson's here from Munich and said some Muslim was on TV very recently, face covered, laughing at Germans for all the money they give Muslims and how they're losing their culture to Islam. IMagine?
People are outraged there. But, if they speak back, they're accused of "THE FOURTH REICH!" :-)

Sue, I've always wondered at my German friends...they have THE most wonderful vacations for four to six weeks......I don't know, with their heavy taxes, how they do it.
I know they do a LOT of physical stuff like hiking for weeks or biking for weeks and camping, so that's not very expensive. Lots of camping.

IIRC the Swiss have mandated automatic weapons in their closets also.
Takes a certain maturity.

This is a mixture of humor and amazement to me. I have been self employed since I was in the 6th grade and owned a lansdscaping business. I have never had a day of paid vacation in my life after 56 years. What is this "paid vacation" they talk of?!

If I close my office or stop working for any period of time I lose money because I stop generating income.

Maybe I am the fool ...

Don't kid yourself...they know damn well that's what it's going to take...to get their country back.

Ed, I dated a Swiss man years ago and you're right....once you're in the military, your guns come home with you. It's funny about their military; their training is grueling (sleeping in the snow, etc.) and they don't fight!
And yes, this is a perfect example of why Conservatives say "People kill, guns don't kill", isn't it.
Every household has a gun in Switzerland and the murder rate is very very low

KP, right! I had my own business for years, too...imagine taking six weeks off and still taking whatever you could manage to take from the business to finance it?!

It's late, maybe I'll try again tomorrow.

Maybe the same kind of government that tells private citizens that they have to pay for federal health insurance.

I should have elaborated...seeing as how it appeared I advocated a Nazi type uprising like it was 60 years ago.

No..this next movement or "reich" will be all of Europe with one common goal, objective in mind.

France knows it...GB knows it...the Netherlands know it....Denmark knows it...the Swedes know it...the Italians know it too and the Germans will refuse to finance it any longer. Should Germany's reward for stability and success be sabotaged by Islamist parasites?

Should all of Europe lay down and be overwhelmed or annihilated by the Caliphate?

I think not...and I think the wakening and
and resentment will have to become an important issue...in order for Europe to survive the Islamist disease. It's worth fighting for. It's worth fighting against.

So..it will never agin be what it was....it will be a united Europe fighting for their survival against a common enemy.

Hopefully...they'll go first. Obaama will go last.

Rita - I lost a long post that I wrote yesterday - and it was good -too.

It's frustrating - isn't it?

The people obviously don't want to become Greece! Good for them!

Gotta love the Swiss. Anyone invades them, they'll blow all the bridges and you won't find them unless you go up into the Alps to loot their soldiers of nice watches and pocket knives with corkscrews built into them. ;)

Thanks Ed. I consider that a compliment.

I actually think I punctuate more like a balloon on a cartoon.

They must be learning from the rest of Europe's mistakes. Good for them.
