"I'm against gay marriage UNLESS I'm talking to Ellen Degeneris"...Joe Biden, say it ain't so!

On [yesterday’s] episode of “Ellen,” Joe Biden told Ellen DeGeneres “that if I lived in California, I would vote against Proposition 8.” This initiative reads, “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.” Yet, in his debate with Sarah Palin on October 2, Biden said that “Barack Obama nor I support redefining from a civil side what constitutes marriage.”

So, which is it? In a nationwide debate against Conservative, Bible-believing Palin, Catholic Joe Biden says one thing, but in a nationwide interview with newly married lesbian talkshow host, Ellen Degeneris, he'd vote against California's Proposition 8.

The bigger deal on this Biden situation is THE LIE, but the subject is important to me, too....Californians, please support Proposition 8. Let's show that the 9th Circuit cannot overrule the will of the people. Finally, and forever. The 9th Circuit knows most Californias are NOT homophobic and that most Californians are as smart as the court is in understanding that gay couples need only go to a lawyer for hospital, insurance and inheritance rights. This is about AGENDA, folks. As for Biden.....this lie, on the heels of SO many others by him and Obama, SHOULD give ANYBODY pause.......

Gay-baiting will win no votes for McCain/Palin.

Gay-bashing is passé.

The Gay AGENDA, of course, is just another arm of the Marxist Agenda to take over this country and destroy it from within. So is the Women's Movement, and so was "Civil Rights."

Martin Luther King, Jr. was a filthy lecher with the same Communist sympathies our dear friend Obama has.

The "Rights" movements are ALL examples of how leftists cynically use legitimate grievances to grab power.

But the Conservative Movement wins no friends when it indulges in Gay-bashing.

We can't say anything at all against Jews, can't criticize Negroes, can't have Christmas in public anymore (just wait till they start banning the LIGHTS and WREATHS and REINDEER, etc. because their presence might "offend" some G-d-damned Muslim.

But it's always Open Season on Gays --- the last bastion of legitimate expression of distaste and loathing.

Nevertheless, your generally excellent, almost incessant exposure of the blatant hypocrisy we see in the media and among Democrats on nearly every issue is a great and good thing.

But this "Gay marriage" thing is innately SILLY it's a loser for the Conservative Cause

There are SO many things we REALLY need to hate and fear. This is Gay Marriage thing is UNIMPORTANT.

It's a RELIGIOUS issue that should NEVER have been politicized.

POLITICAL CORRECTNESS is a greater threat to Liberty and our Constitutional Integrity than Islamo-Fascism.

Lie after lie, after lie, it never ends!

He tells people what they want to hear, plain and simple. Pathetic, but what can you expect?

To be opposed to gay marriage, is not gay bashing. Gay marriage is a huge sea change in the traditional and societal definition of marriage.

Marriage, besides the religious aspect, is a practical and societal foundation for bearing and raising children. This is fundamental in this regard. It also is the ideal situation for the benefit of children.

It cannot be denied that a mother and a father meets that ideal. Anything less should not be codified by law.

To allow gay marriage is not to re-define marriage, but to undefine it. It is not merely probable, but highly likely, that in the near future, legal bigamy and polygamy will be demanded for the same reason that gay marriage is demanded. Love.

Love seems to be the basis for the argument, not practicality and societal welfare. The family.

Incest will beget intermarriage between close relatives because "they love each other".

Muslims will demand harems or polygamous marriage as well. Ergo, marriage in and of itself will be undefined, a mere legalization of any union so chosen.

The family unit has been the very foundation of most countries. The glue if you will which has held societies together. I think It's safe to say, this is but another door open to chaos, and anything goes.

We are on the precipice of literally tearing apart the very foundation of our country, from every direction. Politically, traditionally, and culturally.

This is but another step toward regressing to nothing more than beings with no direction, discipline, or repect for anything but our own needs, or societal restraints. We are becoming rudderless.

It should Z, but, it won't. But that's OK because the polls are wrong. We will win on Tuesday and the inner city riots will begin. I think most big cities have geared up for it.

FT, that was some good information.

Z: So, which is it?

Some who oppose gay marriage oppose amending constitutions to ban it. Hot items on the Christian right agenda include constitutional amendments to reflect and supposedly protect biblical morality, especially by legally eliminating gay rights.

Brilliant, Pris.

FT discounts the opposition to same sex marriage because it is an issue based on Biblical morality. Why does that automatically discount it? The 10 commandments which have had more influence on our historical legal evolution are also out of the Bible.
It's a manual for life.
As Pris points out, the same sex marriage thing doesn't bode for a healthy society either. When you throw stuff like the nuclear family out the window, you can't expect things to stay the same.

Yep, Gay bashing is cruel But it's ok to HANG Sarah Palin.

Only the baited and the bashed know when and if they've been mistreated.

Many kind, decent people, who honestly believe they know something to be true, do very cruel, counter-productive things in the name of good.

As Jesus said from the Cross:

"Father, forgive them for they know not what they do."

Sorry FT...

But the foundation of law and civilization rests upon the principle of exogenous heterosexual marriage and nuclear family units.

And if you won't defend the foundation, then you will soon have no principles whatsoever to stand upon and you will eventually surrender anything and everything entirely to the liberal agenda.

WTF is "gay rights?" Gays can get married to people of the opposite sex, just like straight people. Ask Jim McGreevey.

Horsefeathers, Farmer John! Your beloved Greeks were ALL practicing homosexuals. They married women strictly for the purposes of procreation.

Literalistic biblical absolutism is profoundly anti-intellectual and the antithesis of libertarianism.

Nothing wrong with embracing that if it makes you happy, but to make any attempt impose specifically biblical tenets on those who believe otherise using our secular system of Justice and legislature to push a specifically religious point is TYRANNY.

That is PRECISELY what caused most of the early colonists to flee Europe and Mother England. The Founding Fathers enshrined freedom of religion and the freedom to espouse no religion in the Constitution.

Oh, gee, THAT"S funny, FT...they left Europe for here and adhered MORE to the true Bible than every before. Why's that?
It's ONLY since we got away from that that things started going downhill in this country.

One can't pick and choose...The bible isn't a cafeteria only if they serve your favorite mashed potatoes with gravy.

Why bring up Greeks? There's been homosexuality for thousands of years! BIG surprise. I'd love you to convince anybody that ALL GREEKS WERE HOMOSEXUALS ....they're not now. Did they fix their water supply or something?

NOBODY HATES or IS AGAINST HOMOSEXUALS here, especially not at my blog, but DO not pervert the Word because you don't like it. It's either God's inerrant Word or it isn't. You have no problem quoting from it when it thrills and delights you.

FJ is right; The fundamentals are there. And they are worth preserving. We need an absolutes to maintain a society that works...and this absolute is that marriage is for a man and a woman. Nobody here is arguing homosexuality is evil...

You have the gays right, beamish. If we allow gay marriage, next they’ll want gray marriage. Imagine that! Marriage of old people. That would undefine marriage for real sure. Marriage is meant to be between two people who are not fruits and can multiply–––i.e., increase the pro-American population. The threat to the U.S. Constitution and the rigidity of our foundations isn’t lost on us. No, for the Constitution states that no law shall be enacted that contravenes the old or new Bible or the Ten Commandments. That is in there somewhere. Isn’t it? Isn’t it? At least between the lines. We need to precisely define those white spaces.

psi bond....my Dad was born in Troy, NY!

It's almost pathetic how little you understand about the gay marriage issue. Protection of straight marriage really doesn't have to be religion-based. Many feel children deserve parents of both sexes, etc etc. By the way, grays marry now...what's wrong with you?

Nobody cares what gay people do,with whom they live (more power to them), how they live their lives. They can go to any lawyer and get all the rights they need (that they can't is an agenda-drive lie)...they have every right to marry the opposite sex, too, just like straights do.

Why's it so difficult to understand that it's only MARRIAGE people want to protect. And, trust me, nobody's ever said it is a threat to straight marriage, that old hackneyed Leftist BS that's constantly used...it's the Left who pinned that on straights who honor marriage and wish gays good luck with whatever cohabitation method they'd like to conjure up.

Psi Bond,

Your argument isn't one of law or Constitution, but rather the bane of all leftists - reading comprehension skills and the meaning of words.

Gay men can marry gay women. Gay people can get married.

Your farcical argument, beamish, is one of someone who is out of touchy-feely with social reality. A man can marry a man, and a woman can marry a woman in California. The rightwing wants to eliminate that constitutional right. In fact, it has raised at least $70 million to pass Prop 8, more than for all other campaigns to ban same-sex marriage put together.

Please, stay civil, stop the insults and stop the liberal superiority crap; you're going to have to eat such big crow if your man's elected and gets through what he wants for America that you might want to now start humbling yourself and maybe even apologizing to us all for your vote.

Psi Bond,

"Same-sex marriage" is an oxymoron.

Anonymous said...

The reason same sex marriage is legal in California at the moment, is because the Cal. Supreme Court, overturned the vote of the people in California.

There is no Constitutional right to marriage. The activist court invited this initiative, by citing the Constitution in the first place.

The decision on this is a state decision and was decided by the voters with a 2-1 margin in favor of marriage being between a man and a woman. The Court would not honor the will of the people.

There is no other recourse but to amend our State Constitution. The courts are now in the business of deciding the issue of the day to their liking, and the people be damned. Majority rules? Don't you believe it.

your comment strikes fear in my heart.....because this will be the new America. Litmus tests, bullying good, innocent people who DARE disagree with THE ONE, etc.

Pris: The reason same sex marriage is legal in California at the moment, is because the Cal. Supreme Court, overturned the vote of the people in California.

The California Supreme Court found that Proposition 22 (aka the California Defense of Marriage Act), which defined marriage as limited to opposite-sax couples, violated the equal protection clause of the California Constitution.

There is no Constitutional right to marriage.

So. Priscilla, no one can legally get married, no matter what his/her sex is or isn’t?

The activist court invited this initiative, by citing the Constitution in the first place.

The Court acted in accordance with its official responsibility to decide whether a law is consistent with the state constitution.

The decision on this is a state decision and was decided by the voters with a 2-1 margin in favor of marriage being between a man and a woman. The Court would not honor the will of the people.

The ballot initiative Proposition 22 was passed with a 1.6 to 1 margin. However, the Court cannot sanction popular initiatives in law that violate the California Constitution, which the Court is sworn to protect. The Court’s duty is to honor the Constitution not the will of the people.

There is no other recourse but to amend our State Constitution. The courts are now in the business of deciding the issue of the day to their liking, and the people be damned. Majority rules? Don't you believe it.

The majority of the people do not rule in a court of law. Courts are not empowered to decide cases in favor of a popular majority, or of a special interest group (read: the Christian right) with the resources to sway the majority. They must respect the integrity of their state's constitution.

The Christian right disingenuously conceals its purpose with words like "protection of marriage", or "defense of marriage", but its intent is to impose its own religious values on society at large. The truth in this case is it seeks to eliminate rights from one group of decent Americans.

Z, Ducky is correct, I believe: FauxThinker unintentionally satirizes herself, hilarously exposing, in the process, the silly far right mindset.

psi bond....my Dad was born in Troy, NY!

My deceased uncle used to live and work in Troy, N.Y., where I visited him. It's hard to believe we have anything in common, Z.

It's almost pathetic how little you understand about the gay marriage issue. Protection of straight marriage really doesn't have to be religion-based. Many feel children deserve parents of both sexes, etc etc. By the way, grays marry now...what's wrong with you?

It's pathetic, Z, how small your sense of humor is. I was joking about gray marriage. What's wrong with you?

Nobody cares what gay people do,with whom they live (more power to them), how they live their lives. They can go to any lawyer and get all the rights they need (that they can't is an agenda-drive lie)...they have every right to marry the opposite sex, too, just like straights do.

If no one cares, then why is the right pouring $70,000,000 into stripping gay people of the right of gay marriage in California?

There may be at least a few gays who cannot afford a lawyer to get their denied rights restored. And perhaps the law will not support rights for which there is no guarantee regardless of sexual orientation.

It is untrue that nobody's ever said it is a threat to straight marriage. I have heard it many times in dialogue with evangelicals on the Internet. If it really is no threat to marriage, then why call it the "marriage protection act", as they do in Florida and other states? Rationally speaking, if there is no threat to marriage, there is no need for a marriage protection act. The original name of Prop 8 was the "California Marriage Protection Act". This has been officially renamed by the Attorney General "Eliminates Right Of Same-Sex Couples To Marry. Initiative Constitutional Amendment". Gays who live together want their rights under the state constitution. The rightwing wants to eliminate them for religious reasons but pretend they only want to protect marriage.(from going out of fashion?).

psi bond said...

Unfortunately, the Christian right, pouring millions into support of Prop 8, thinks it needs to eliminate gays’ right to marry.

Not self-nullifying, gays–––Patroclus’s heirs–––are born in each new generation.
