Isn't it reassuring to know that America may have to pull out of a war because we can't afford it anymore?
I'll bet Al Qaeda's thrilled about that because they're not worried about their finances.

Thats not a news item, thats a campaign ad.
As far as I'm concerned, we have to afford it. If we turn our backs and leave when it spells defeat, America's lost.
Not just in Iraq, or Afghanistan, or generally in the war against the Islamists, but as a nation we would no longer be the super power in the world. We would be exposed as never before, as a paper tiger in the eyes of the world.
What we can't afford is weakness. What we can't afford is a new war on poverty that is destined to fail. What we can't afford is to become another feckless country living off of past victories and imagined greatness.
We can afford what we decide to afford at the expense of political correctness and an entitlement populace. But, will we?
This is the time in our history that just the wrong man may be elected to decide it is best to become that feckless nation in favor of joining other nations in the slide to obselescence.
We can afford it. It is a matter of priorities. Of national sacrifice if need be. We've done it before, we can do it again. As with most things, something's got to give, and I say America is too big a price to pay.

Freedomnow, exactly so.
Pris....imagine? Imagine AMERICA turning tail because we can't afford it? The Left is always upset we're not SACRIFICING (yes, the same people who say we need to run to the government to wipe our noses suddenly believes we need to sacrifice, right?), well...let's see them follow through on this.
Freedomnow's point is best made that way: They won't because they don't like the war. A campaign ad, indeed.

Having to relinquish funding for the war on terror is the tip of the iceberg.
Visit Social Sense tomorrow for an indepth discussion of what America will give up if Obama wins the White House, and Democrats retain the Congress.
Hint: It won't be pretty.
If we can afford a $3 Trillion dollar banking bailout, we can afford to fight a war that costs considerably less.
A perceived US loss in Iraq and/or Afghanistan will embolden the jihadomaniacs. Indeed, they'd see an American pullout as proof of Allah's will that Islam should rule the world.
If we follow the European model, which is what most of the Democrats want, we will soon be as ripe for a Muslim takeover as they are right now.
Those way way up at the top (the ones we don't know and can't see, who REALLY control everything) have been scheming and manipulating events to push us towards One World Governed by Internal Communism since the days of Woodrow Wilson at least.
The urbane "metrosexual" has replaced the MAN in this overly analytical, largely theoretical, action-averse, limp-wristed, purposefully defenseless type of society, which makes those afflicted with the liberal-pacifist view --- where a proper DEFENSE is regarded as HOSTILE, AGGRESSIVE and MILITARISTIC --- ripe for the plucking, when any unprincipled barbarian force with murder on its mind --- or a well-financed, even-tempered, heartless, ruthless, soft-spoken, maniacally ambitious demagogue ---decides to take over.

'bout time. It would have cost even more and accomplished just as little if McCain had had his way.
ducky, you just sound sillier every single comment.
How many wars do YOU know which succeed after giving the enemy a time schedule of when you're leaving.
stunning, the idiocy of the left, ISN'T it? You seeing that YET?
Thankfully its getting to the point where the war will be won soon and it wont matter anymore.
Soon there will be no way that the Democrats can help the insurgents any more.
Well said, freedomnow.
thanks for coming by, it's great hearing from you. You always stay away FAR too long!!
I heard the army is going to bring some troops back to America.
http://www.armytimes.com/news/2008/09/army_homeland_090708w/ They are going to help with natural disasters and or civil unrest.
They should be put on the borders and ports.
Instead they are here to help.
Ronald Reagan said "The worst words that you can hear are. I am from the govt. and I'm here to help" This is the job of the National Guard.
If our military does come back they will probably be used like the military in The camp of the Saints by Jean Raspail.
We live in interesting times.
Lost in aztlan
the thought of our army in Obama's hands hadn't permeated my brain yet. Now I'm even MORE miserable. And OH, so are they...OH, yes, they SURE ARE.
Remember how they loathed Clinton and could barely salute?
This'll give new meaning to that.
Imagine, just at the time we need the National Guard and the military against terrorism?
We get Obama, Commander in Chief. I could spit.
Cheers Z!!!
