Real Journalism is certainly missing.. . it was great see an actor, anyone in fact, sprout some home truths on CNN. What was the CNN reporter trying to achieve with the incessant silly questioning? Well done Z…

Voight did a great job of getting the point across nicely in spite of the CNN guy's attempt to shut him up and argue him down. All the videos at that blog are very encouraging, such a relief from the incessant leftist spin, the Yahoo headlines for instance that never miss a chance to insinuate something against McCain/Palin and for Obama. Great crowd for Palin in Carson, CA. Thanks.

Mr. Voight is one of the very few conservative voices in Hollywood. God bless them all for their bravery.

Well, of course, Mr. Voight is correct to note the pro-Obama press, and the damage a biased press renders to a free society. He may err, however, in thinking he can some how shame the press into serving their function. Remember, colleges program these journalists, and their editors reinforce that training, to believe that liberalism is the goal of an enlightened society. Since McCain/Palin represents conservative ideals, they must represent everything that is bad about America.

I’ll say this, however . . . if the American people overwhelming vote for Obama, you haven’t seen “bad for America” yet. But you will.

Arnold Schwarzenegger must be the other, or is he a liberal.

Thing about conservative voices like Voight and Dennis Hopper, Ron Silver and the rest is that except for Gary Senise they are terrible actors.

Compare their work to an great actor like Paul Newman or even Sean Penn who, whatever you think of his views, can flat out act.

There's a lesson there.

Hey Voight, you still haven't been forgiven for "Midnight Cowboy". One of the most over rated pieces of junk in film history. I think your conservative taint might have been caused by playing a homosexual in that one. You couldn't deal with it.

Hes one of the few in Hollyweird that I can say I really like.
I loved him when he was being intervied with Alan Colmes during the conventions.
I thought he was going to take Colme's head off.

Voight also wrote a great article for the Washington Post and I actually read a comment saying, "How could someone of Voight's fame use his reputation to express negatives against Obama?" I kid you not....with practically ALL of Hollywood speaking against McCain, some liberal is astounded that Jon Voight would say such things. Oh this strange world we live in.

Do You Know the Real Barack Obama?

Carol Platt Liebau

Monday, October 06, 2008

As the 2008 presidential campaign hurtles into its final days, John McCain confronts a choice: He can either start telling the public about the real Barack Obama, or he can lose.

For much of his career, McCain has been a media darling. He could count on the press to carry his water as long as he was a “maverick” Republican, driving more conservative members of his party crazy. But as he surely knows by now, when it comes to Barack Obama and the press, all bets are off. In covering Obama, the press has adopted a “don’t ask/don’t tell” policy designed to boost the least-vetted, least-known candidate ever to seek the presidency. It isn’t by accident that the media has denied all less-than-glowing stories about Obama the kind of consistent, sustained coverage that allows them to penetrate public consciousness.

If McCain is going to have a chance at winning, he must make sure that the public becomes thoroughly acquainted with the real Barack Obama – the most radical presidential nominee ever. And because the press evidently intends to abdicate its responsibility to acquaint voters with the less-popular parts of Obama’s record, he’ll have to rely on paid advertising to do it.

To begin with, McCain should consider running a series of “Did You Know” ads about Barack Obama. He should ask voters, “Did you know that:

Barack Obama has multiple ties to those responsible for the present economic crisis?:

Franklin Raines
, the immediate past CEO of Fannie Mae – who has collected a $90 million golden parachute while driving Fannie into the ground – has advised Obama on housing issues.

Jim Johnson, yet another former Fannie Mae CEO, resigned from Obama’s vice presidential search team when it was revealed he had received a sweetheart home mortgage deal.

Despite serving in the Senate for only four years, Obama himself has been the second-largest recipient of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac largesse in the entire Congress, ahead even of former presidential candidate John Kerry, who’s spent two decades in the Senate?

Obama’s long-time political ally, radical group ACORN, played a key role in pressuring banks to offer loans to those who were unlikely to be able to pay them back. ACORN has taken credit for pressuring banks to accept undocumented income as a basis for offering loans, for offering loans without using credit scores, and for making 100% financed loans available to low-income people.

There is more, of course. Do voters know:

That, in apparent defiance of federal election law, the Obama campaign refuses to identify individual donors who have provided almost half the funds for his campaign, including obvious fakes like “Mr. Good Will” and “Mr. Doodad Pro”? And that 11,500 donations to his campaign – totaling almost $34 million – may have come from overseas? Or that two Palestinians living in a Hamas-controlled refugee camp spent $31,300 in Obama’s online store? Who are all these people, and why won’t the Obama campaign obey the law and identify them?

That Jeremiah Wright wasn’t Obama’s first radical mentor? As a young man in Hawaii, Obama had a quasi-filial relationship with radical Frank Marshall Davis – an avowed member of the Communist Party of the USA. In fact, in his memoirs, Obama concedes that he attended “socialist conferences” and encountered Marxist literature. (Now imagine the outcry if a Republican presidential candidate had such ties to a Nazi).

That the People's Weekly World – the official newspaper of the Communist Party of the USA – has rhapsodized about Obama’s presidential campaign, calling it a "transformative candidacy that would advance progressive politics for the long term"? (Think about how the press would react if a fascist newspaper heaped such praise on McCain.)

That Obama has routinely tried to intimidate his critics into silence? His political organization spearheaded a massive campaign against a Chicago radio show that invited one of his critics to appear – even after being asked (and refusing) to send a representative to balance the program, hosted by a non-partisan University of Chicago psychology professor. Worse, his campaign sought to chill free speech by establishing a “truth squad” of Missouri prosecutors and sheriffs, which threatened a “vigorous response” to any ad presenting information about Obama that they deemed to be “inaccurate.” And there are other examples.

That even as America struggles to “bail out” our own struggling economy, Obama backs a global bailout? His Global Poverty Initiative would assess $2500 per taxpayer, according to Investor’s Business Daily, to fund a global war on poverty administered by the UN and its agencies.

That despite touting his academic credentials as a rationale for initiating a campaign for president just two years after leaving the Illinois state legislature, Obama refuses to release either his college or his law school transcripts – just as he sought to keep records of his working relationship with former terrorist Bill Ayers on The Annenberg Challenge (a left-wing educational foundation) safely under wraps? What is it that he doesn’t want voters to know?

Repeatedly, we’ve heard the media denounce the “rumors” about Barack Obama that are, supposedly, circulated on the internet exclusively by the bigoted and the ignorant. But Americans sense that there is more to Barack Obama than they’ve been told. Having witnessed the media’s own bias and favoritism, they’ve come to suspect – reasonably – that even if any of the rumors were true, the press might choose to conceal them until the election is safely over. What’s more, they wonder: What else is the press not telling us?

Certainly, it would be terribly wrong for John McCain to traffic in rumors. But he doesn’t need to. The truth is more than enough. There are facts that the American people deserve to know – and which the press isn’t telling them. By filling in the gaps that the media has left unmentioned, John McCain isn’t just doing himself a service. He’s doing journalists’ job for them, and allowing Americans to make an informed decision when they head to the polls next month.

Thanks, "anonymous", excellent article, really good information there.

Granny..isn't it astonishing? The Leftist media just can't BELIEVE people would dare have different opinions than THEY do! it's why they're so eager to shut down Talk Radio, too. They must control EVERYTHING!!!

It's almost as stupid as saying FOX is biased and CNN is the real news!!! CNN has ZERO (count 'em) conservative journalists. ZERO! Fox has a liberal or two in every single panel discussion.
I'll never forget watching the CNN after-pres-debate coverage...Wolf, Gloria Borgers, Donna Brazile, Anderson Cooper...I could go on. NO Conservative. I guess they just don't feel anybody could possibly think differently than they do!

FOX had Kristen Powers and Bob Beckel. And Conservatives. Fair. Balanced.

YOu can't make this stuff up. They're almost as blind to this kind of thing as they are to Obama's terrible reality.

It takes a certain amount of courage to speak out in favor of
the conservative viewpoint in Hollyweird.

Apparently there are more of them than people think, but they usually keep very low profiles.

I heard Ron Silver tell a story about how he was reading something that wasn't a liberal rag & that one of the people on the set grabbed it from his hands and warned him against reading stuff like that around here.

Paris Hilton.....? Matt Damon....?....?

Pamela Anderson?

Hollywood is populated by terrible liberal actors.

Compare their work to an great actor like Paul Newman or even Sean Penn who, whatever you think of his views, can flat out act.

Paul Newman shouldn't be lumped in with Sean Penn. Newman had class and was a great humanitarian.

Penn needs an ass-whooping.

By way of Hugh Hewitt, from Instapundit:

A READER AT A MAJOR NEWSROOM EMAILS: "Off the record, every suspicion you have about MSM being in the tank for O is true. We have a team of 4 people going thru dumpsters in Alaska and 4 in arizona. Not a single one looking into Acorn, Ayers or Freddiemae. Editor refuses to publish anything that would jeopardize election for O, and betting you dollars to donuts same is true at NYT, others. People cheer when CNN or NBC run another Palin-mocking but raising any reasonable inquiry into obama is derided or flat out ignored. The fix is in, and its working." I asked permission to reprint without attribution and it was granted.

Z said...

Wordsmith, I just sent this Hewitt thing to everyone in my email addressbook...which is a lot of people. We HAVE to get this information out.
I trust Hugh Hewitt and am so glad he reported this....and that you're passing it around.

I advise we ALL send it around. I asked my Conservative and Liberal friends to read EVERYTHING, be well informed before they vote; check out my blogroll and go on from there. This is a reminder that America's not the same country she was. We used to pride ourselves on being better than 'they' are...suddenly, the same media which has been blaming Bush for some ridiculous notion that we've acted "NOT better than THEY ARE" are propogating something so deeply antithetical to American standards that we now can't blame THEM for looking at us as "only one of the rest of the countries in the world". The MEDIA has made us "NOT BETTER THAN" thru their hideous dishonesty.

Thanks.

The WordSmith from Nantucket said...

I shy away from over-generalizations and the notion that there is an intentional conspiratorial bent to the overall MSM, even as I fully point out the overwhelming bias (bias comes in different forms).

I've heard of others who have described the situation in the backroom, where the news crew would cheer and high five each other over screwing with Republicans, on air.

Z said...

Wordsmith,

I don't shy away, not after seeing, for example, Letterman and Brian Williams the other night...Chris Matthews and his 'feeling up his leg', CNN having ZERO conservative panelists after presidential debates (and most other segments, for that matter), the kind of degrading comments the news readers make while doing the news.

Sure, I'm not saying they send memos, but when every single venue, even ones WE PAY FOR like NPR and PBS, are so in one bag, that's an energetic and singular force that's acting as one large behemoth truth dispeller........

Conspiracy or not, something is up...it has the same effect.

z, I'm afraid your conservative friends aren't going to do their part. Let's face it, we know from the Couric interview that Sarah has been a little lax.

Z said...

Don't fool yourself, Ducky.

Don't you just HATE it when a woman has to cram thirty-five years of unimportant facts into five weeks and doesn't know an answer!? DAMN. She's got what it takes, the handlers say they haven't seen a learning curve like hers or a willingness to learn and absorb. I know, it's "on the job training" admired by the Obama people when they describe him, but it's HORRID and STUPID for Sarah..typical.

she's back....SORRRY!!!
Um. If she's so 'lax' why are the Left so scared of her that they'd make up ridiculous lies, beat the bushes in Alaska for the slightest pecadillo, and attacking her for telling the truth about Ayers? (oh, THAT's why. I forgot :-))

Z said...

ducky, when one is only getting one point of view and doesn't care to look at another, is that 'open'?
They're lock-stepping lemmings, that's clear.
If they weren't they'd be more representative of all Americans...about 50-50.

Ducky - Paul Newman was a good actor and a larger than life movie star, not a great actor. Sean Penn is a good actor. Jon Voight and the others you mention are good actors.

What's the matter, you don't like the hollywood blacklist being defiled? Gotta keep these conservative actors in their place?

One actor goes against the liberal grain and suddenly actors should shut up?

Typical lefty, can't fight fair. If you can't play with a stacked deck you start crying and whining and calling people names.

Kindergarten was over for you a long time ago, time to grow up, and quit your bellyaching.

Ducky -- How about others who lean right such as:

Robert Duvall
Dennis Franz
Vince Gill
Kelsey Grammer
Patricia Heaton
Chuck Norris
Gary Sinise
Fred Thompson
Jon Voight
James Woods

Granted it is not anywhere close to the list the Democrats would boast but it is not actor"s opinions that conservatives would champion anyway. Actors do not have near as much at stake in elections since their money shields them from most consequences. I would take the opinion of the vast majority of those who wear the uniform of our armed services over the entire academy of actors any day of the week.
