How do you grapple with liberals?

I hate to say it, but I have actually spoken to liberals who are very much like this blonde in the video.......but, usually, the minute you confront with facts, they change the subject or walk away;  at least she stuck to her imbecilic mantras!

Have you dealt with people like this?   How'd you do?

The woman in the video sounds just like my liberal neighbor's adult son. This adult son in 40 years old and says, "I'm a child of the 60s."

In our most recent political discussion, I scored some points when I had him listen to the audio of Obama saying that he supported wealth redistribution. My neighbor's son didn't like that one bit! He lives off his parents and his women; quite the gigolo he is. He claims to hate capitalism but lives off the fat of the land. Sheesh.

The only group of people to claim leftists are intelligent are leftists. Rather than discussing the merits of some idea involving domestic or foreign policy, all we ever here from the left is: "Bush," "Reagan," and "It's racist, straight up."

Under such circumstances, why bother trying to have a dialogue with these people? They are a lost cause.

As you well know, I do not subscribe to the patently absurd view that leftists are actually capable of rational thought.

All of my conversations with leftists resemble this video. Sometimes I'll even go so far as to make fun of them with a robotic nasal voice...

"We must tax businesses out of existence to pay for unemployment programs bzzt bzzt."

"Fighting wars in Islamic countries will create terrorists among people we should not profile at the airport bzzt bzzt."

"Govermment transparency means passing laws to see what's in them bzzt bzzt."

"Forest fires and volcanoes do not have a carbon footprint bzzt bbzt."

Ya can't fix stupid. You can only stay to the right of it.

I know personally of 2 liberal 'children of the '60s' who jumped to the other side of the fence when they found out how it would affect their inheritances. Well, one jumped & the other wriggled, more like a snake.

On being introduced to the wriggler, a guy (I won't call him a man), the very first words out of his mouth to me were 'I'm a Communist'. I told him fine, that I was an extreme Right-wing Reagan Republican, somewhere to the right of Attila, the Hun. He looked shocked & said, 'You're kidding, right?'. I replied no way in Hell was I kidding. He is a friend of my younger son, so when I have to see him & his wife when I'm visiting the Left-coast I'm polite, but that's all.

SilvrLady, I know a communist from France who's a naturalized citizen who said he was voting Republican next time BECAUSE of the inheritance tax of Obama..

AOW...isn't it amazing? Sounds like your neighbor's son likes wealth distribution as long as he's on the distribution list of his women, huh? Limousine Liberal.

Sam, I thought it was telling that I posted sadness about Ferraro's death and NOT ONE CONSERVATIVE slammed her...they all said they disagreed with her but admired her spunk.
That seems like an analogy of what you're saying. Two viewpoints are welcome in the Conservative world...in the leftwing view, a person must die if they're on the Right. They showed utter glee over Tony SNow, and you should see the leftwing blogs each time Cheney's ill...
that's a 'lost heart' even more than a 'lost cause'...
and then they don't see a problem with indoctrinating children instead of teaching them to THINK.

Beamish....well done on that list.

I had to last week and it was tough.

Topic was about budget cut in education in Los Angeles.

I said something like this: "They keep pouring money in education and the kids are less educated so it's not about money."

The topic changed right away to "The rich are not paying enough taxes."

IT's always the same merde with them. And they never make sense of anything.
At least try to stick to the topic and if you don't have talking points, then say so. Don't change the subject.

Look at Ducky. Perfect example. Never brings up a fact. Always uses some kind of humor or snarky comment to make his point.

They are lazy intellectually and all they want is feel good about themselves or being liked and accepted by peers.

That's what drives the libs in life. Not the truth or reality. But ego and materialism.

Z said...

FB, you draw an important and interesting conclusion (by the way...remind me when Ducky uses humor!!? Sorry, Ducky, but I'd not say humor is one of your better points!)...

the conclusion being it's easier to throw money at something than actually address the problem.
And, you are so right...children are worse educated today than in one room school houses where they actually KNEW the dates of the Civil War, they KNEW why we fought it...
AOW did a great post on memorizing yesterday and we've dropped that in our schools and kids know so little...how can you argue historical context without knowing WHEN things happened and WHY?
Our kids are not being TAUGHT, for the most part, they're being indoctrinated. Now how to think but what to think.
You don't need money to teach them things like that.

FrogBurger said...

Z, the thing with education is that it's a vicious cycle. LEss educated kids make less educated teachers. Indoctrinated kids make indoctrinating teachers.

That is why I am against public education.

Public education can be of good quality (France, even though it's worse and worse) but the constant brainwashing is something that should not happen in a free republic where we're raising citizens, and not victims or robots.

Z said...

FB, it makes less educated PARENTS, too...therein lies the bigger part of the problem, don't you think?
I greatly admired what I learned about the French early education system when we lived in Paris....we had friends with smallish children....they memorized, they knew history WELL, ...

as an aside; they even train them about food! (which I greatly admire!)
I heard a mother pick up her child one day and say "and what did they serve for lunch?"

"Meat, Maman!"
"what kind of meat...?" And she went on with that...what did they serve with it, was it good?
As you know, dinner parties often are taken up with talking food......talk about my kind of culture :-)

FrogBurger said...

It's true about the parents.

And yes I had cooking class in middle school and loved it. But I mostly leaned cooking through my dad.

The brainwashing in France mostly happens in college and not so much in middle school like I have seen in the US with the anti American discourse.

I got most of my Marxist analysis on things in college.

All I got in middle school is a couple of slaps from a communist teacher that didn't like my dad since he was doing local politics. So he was mean to me during classes, making fun of my being small and skinny, and one day I replied with a sarcastic comment, which led to the slapping.
I would kick his ass now if I could.

Have you dealt with people like this? The deer in the headlights/Stepford wives gazing (the 1975 version) liberals like in the video, I don’t deal with them. I don’t even bother to address anything that they say. I remain silent. It’s just not worth any effort on my part.

I admit that it’s much easier now that I’m retired as I don’t have to listen to these folks as I was often forced to do in a work environment.

There’s the old adage: “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” I’ve seen that work so many times. There’s a time to speak up and a time to remain quiet and listen, listen for the teaching moment. Trust me, if you watch for it, the moment will come!

Just an observation: It’s seems that the internet can bring out the worst on BOTH sides. I have many liberals that I consider dear friends. We can talk issues and disagree and still walk away friends, the difference? Eye contact.

I also think there are many liberals that don’t foam at the mouth over issues and that are willing to compromise, knowing that not everything will always go their way.

As an X- New Yorker(upstate), I think a good example would be a Pat Moynihan type liberal. He was respected on both sides not unlike Geraldine Ferraro. I enjoyed her input on FOX.

FrogBurger said...

So true.

You mention Ferraro but she was not the new type of Liberals. The new wave of Liberals intelligentsia have nothing Liberal. They are socialists, if not communists.
Unfortunately people who are social liberals jump on that bandwagon and defend those people.

------

SUCH an EXCELLENT point!
I could not agree more!
I also think that the talk/debate shows on Fox and CNN have stoked the hatred between conservatives and liberals, so that people who might otherwise be civil are now seeing each other as the enemy.

Z, I spend so much time promoting unity and forgiveness with my kids at home that I no longer have the mental / emotional energy to argue politics with non-family members.

I find that what comes out of my mouth in those rare moments is usually something more conceptual...or philosophical...to point out how "alike" we are more than how different we are.

It usually stops the conversation cold. :P

I suspect that leftists have 100 Beamish-styled bullets for every issue affecting American society or politics. Yesterday I wrote a somewhat lengthy article on the subject of “Public Investment,” which is a euphemism for wasting more of other people’s money. No one is guiltier of waste than public education, which as FB points out, doesn’t educate anyone in the areas we most prefer.

In any case, I think if you ever want to achieve that “Deer in the headlights” look from liberals, all you need to do is mention cuts in education. If anyone wants to wander over to the linked post, you may find the comments interesting, if not instructive.

Z is certainly spot-on to note that people educated in public schools are happy to send their kids off to more of the same, and we find this cycle of idiocy repeated ad nauseam. There may be justice in that, but also grave danger to the best interests of the United States. I always wondered why, if leftists want a utopian existence, why not just move there?

Let's see, the reason we intervened in Libya was to stop a slaughter. Time will tell but we may have accomplished that goal.

The awesome right winger in the cartoon starts talking about us being attacked and those scary depleted mustard gas WMDs that Hussein was using to get the right wetting itself.
Now I admit, I left after that because this was clearly going to be a long slog.

So I ask why anyone thinks the two matters are equivalent? After all, we acted in Libya before the fact rather than having the brilliant Colon Powell let Hussein fly his attack helicopters (some no-fly huh, obviously a right winger in charge of that one) and effect a slaughter.

But I suppose after you search high and low for WMD and actually find someone's botox treatment then the right just gets all upset and anything goes.

I am a little ashamed today. I acted like a liberal. There was a guy reading an Arabic text next to me on the subway(looked like philosophy) and when he pulled out his cell phone, I didn't tackle him. The left is the terrorists' best friend.

Scotty, how very weird; Last night at dinner with a friend, she said this exact thing to me: "I don’t deal with them. I don’t even bother to address anything that they say. I remain silent. It’s just not worth any effort on my part."

There is NO USE, especially with the media working SO hard and fast against America as we know her.

Also, Scotty, I have used Pat Moynihan here as an example many times before you joined us here at geeez (which I'm glad about!)....he was a Democrat who loved America and listened to both sides and ...well, those were the days!

I often say here that there's a lot to be said for smoke filled rooms, where politicians in the Tip O'Neal and Moynihan days fought it out in private and then came out with public good information.
And there was even MORE to say for politicians' families having to move to DC because travel was more difficult then...they bonded through the kids' schools, they had cocktail parties, they knew each other as people...they didn't just fly into town, fight, and go back to their home towns.....I don't believe it was so ANGRY then.
I think part of the reason it's more rancorous on line is that we don't see each other, you're right....but it's also that we can't really talk, it's all quick shots that sometimes sound more nasty for their brevity, make sense?

Jen, DO NOT GIVE THAT IDEA TO FB! He's here at GeeeeZ and I want him to stay here (he's my prisoner!! smile!) And I think you're 1000% right when you say the fighting on the CNN/FOX shows, etc., has done nothing good for anybody...

Ducky.."The left is the terrorists' best friend" that's so obvious to anybody but a liberal. I'd be 'ashamed', too...really very much so...to be in a group who shut down Huffington over their glee that Tony Snow died..when you saw here that EVERY SINGLE CONservative said they felt sorry for Ferraro and admired her tho they didn't agree with most of her stances...how beautiful a comparison. Yes, I'd be mightily ashamed, too.

And I suppose you're nasty enough to think a Conservative guy would have jumped any Arab on a cell phone, is that right? how stupid, no offense.
As for BOTOX, is that what killed 300,000 Kurds?

Elbro.......well said. By the way, Elbro, don't you love how all that oil we got out or Iraq is working for us? :-)

FB: you are so right about liberals....they are not liberals anymore. Remember when they were touted as the OPEN MINDED SET? (they touted themselves that way, anyway)...now they can't take the slightest disagreement and they ALWAYS slam the person without taking on their positions intelligently and openly...unbelievably bad for a country..

So you should be happy about Iraq b/c Saddam killed a bunch of people as well.

I am not opposed to Libya but if it's to go, it should have been to kill the guy instead of a no fly zone.

I honestly can't believe how long it's taking to get rid of him. Either we really don't want to kill him, or we're just plain bad. Or we're more worried with protecting the pipelines, which could be the case.

When I hear the libs say it's different b/c it's humanitarian I'm laughing. I just hope they'll go to Syria next, Ivory Coast, Zimbabwe, etc...

It's never black or white. It's humanitarian b/c there's oil involved, as maybe weapons or nukes we don't know about could take possession of Al Qaida. Let's not forget Gaddafi said he would stop his nuke program but how do we know it's really true.

I also hope the Liberal phonies who greeted the guy when he came to the States (tent episode) are feeling ashamed of themselves now. They can't say they didn't know. Those people are just scumbags who are only worried with their little ego, feeling the temporary glory of meeting a country leader.

All I ever hope for is that I may have a little influence, and I'm sure she feels the same, but that's ok with me.

I do know former Democrats who have now become independents and are paying more attention to the conservative side. They are put off by Obama and his doubletalk, and the redistribution of wealth agenda. They get it.
