Michelle Bachmann......

No WONDER the left's afraid of her.......she never lets down, she tries to get information out there, though David Gregory totally ignores her first amazing disclosure no matter how many times she says it!   Is this what David Gregory passes off as INFORMING THE PUBLIC?  Wouldn't an honest newsman say "Let's talk about that.........."  especially since she wouldn't get OFF it?

I know it's easier for the leftwing to denigrate Bachmann than listen and actually absorb some truth (and I expect it here), but.......this woman knows what she's talking about, so it's a real shame.

"Honest newsman" is an oxymoron.

That said, Bachmann skillfully kept repeating her talking point in lieu of answering loaded questions. To a point.

Continuously talking about the billions of dollars squirrelled away for Obamacare in the 2009"stimulus" boondoggle is not an answer to a direct question about Libya. It's kinda robotic.

She needs to be a bit more agile. She only had one thing to say (over and over and over) where every question David Gregory asked could have been answered, on topic, and with confidence.

Pretend I'm up there, instead.

Congressman Beamish, are you optimistic that we can avoid a government shutdown?

"Of course we could avoid a shutdown. But why should we when shutting down the government will save taxpayers 10 billion dollars a day?"

She does have one thing to say, Beam; and it's an important one thing -- or is it billions of things??

You're right, though, she's definitely on talking points. Agility would serve her well, but then Gregory simply wouldn't have her on at all. As it is now, they think she's too stupid, & they'll be able to dance around her, eh, Duck?

Not so.

I have no problem with the press challenging Ms. Bachmann; I do have a problem with the fact that they don’t want to hear her narrative; they only want her to parrot their narrative. To be fair, Bachmann refused to give him a “yes or no” response to his “yes or no” question, but I have never heard Hillary Clinton answer a direct question from the press or a member of congress —and no one ever calls her on it.

One reflection upon the continued dishonesty of the ‘ducky’ character is that Ms. Bachmann was speaking in context of the “shot heard around the world” from within the New England colonies. Ducky may recall that New Hampshire was one of these, which included portions of present-day Vermont. There was but one clash in New Hampshire during the Revolutionary War—the raid on Fort William and Mary. The ‘battle’ of Lexington and Concord occurred in April 1775, long before the colonies announced their independence, but it is correct to say that Lexington and Concord was part of a shared history among all the peoples of the New England colonies. Thus, if anyone is beyond stupid, it must be Ducky.

Elbro and Ticker, good ones!... it's so obvious, yet they don't see it.

Susannah, she's agile, she was just on a mission!

Ducky, you make your second comment sound as if you're dying for some good conservative to pop up and beat Obama....as IF.
And you're right, he'll win; because of the leftwing media.

SAm, you know, your explanation of that is right, of course, and I'd wondered it myself but hadn't time to check....thanks for that information.

Anyway, we all know people make mistakes, but the rightwing simply isn't allowed to.

IMagine if NPR was a rightwing outlet and did any of what they've just done? The public's barely hearing about it, but they SURE WOULD if it had been FOX! :-)

My take on Bachman is I like her more than Palin, I think she had a mission in going on Gregory's show and she wasn't going to give it up.

My take on Gregory is he showed a shocking lack of agility in running a conversational show or he simply resented her ability to talk to leftwingers and get her message across.

Michele Bachmann had one purpose.

That was to get the message out that billions of dollars were hidden in the healthcare bill, so the administration could quietly spend on it's infrastructure being put in place, regardless of the results of the next election.

Gregory's purpose was to shut that down, and change the subject. He didn't ask one question as to her charge about the money, or the healthcare bill.

It was simply a contest of wills, and in that, she won. Case closed!

It is not possible to have a free society without safeguarding the institutions that guarantee liberty; on the other hand, it is not possible to have a free society when society is not able to defend itself against clandestine threats, such as that imposed upon us by Islamic terrorism. Politicians who support the Patriot Act simply want to be able to ferret out people who intend grave harm to the American people. Persons who oppose the Patriot Act want government working smarter within our system of Constitutional Federalism. It is easy to understand how adherents of either idea could come to loggerheads.

I think cooler heads must prevail. Let us suppose for a moment that Islamacists detonated a dirty bomb in downtown Boston. The number of people killed and injured, the numbers who would eventually die from radioactive exposure would be psychologically catastrophic to many Americans —not to all Americans, of course, but a large number. For example, people who place no value on American history would shrug off such an event as being the price we pay for forcing Moslems to attack us on 9/11, and then compounding that with our failure to submit to the will of Allah. The fact remains that people living in Boston are a small percentage of our national population of 320 million. America won’t collapse because we happened to lose 800,000 leftists.

It is within the realm of a free society for people to disagree with their political representatives over a wide range of issues. Whether we support or disagree with these people, we should write letters and urge them to consider our point of view. And this would seem to me a better course of action than calling them vile names or wishing they were dead.

Soapster,

In your "comparison," why is it you can directly quote Articles and amendments from the constitution, but not directly quote anything from the Patriot Act?

Can you specifically name any Americans who have had their rights infringed upon by the Patriot Act? (No, you can't)

Can you specifically cite and quote the sections or clauses of the Patriot Act used to infringe on the rights of any Americans (that you can't name)?

Can you specifically name any American librarians or "keepers of any other records" who have been prosecuted as a result of the Patriot Act? (no, you can't)

Can you specifically name any Americans jailed without charges and kept "incommunicado" and denied legal counsel a result of the Patriot Act? (no, you can't)

LOL! Section 215 requires a FISA court warrant application (do you know what that is?) showing probable cause that records to be searched document terrorist activities. Section 412 deals with the detention of alien terror suspects (no, dumbass, not Alf. Non-Americans) So, the FBI must show probable cause to obtain a FISA warrant for terrorism investigations, and the government can detain non-Americans suspected of terrorism. My God, the FBI can apply for a search warrant if they can show probable cause in a counter-terrorism investigation, and foreign terror suspects can be detained pending investigation and trial! The problem with The Patriot Act is not what it HAS done, but what i COULD do in the "wrong" hands.

So far our civil rights as normal American cjtizens ["normal" meaning not American-born Black Muslims, other Muslims, Muslim, or "naturalized" Middle Eastern and African peoples, Mafiosi, other gangsters, illegal aliens and other "trouble" groups] so far the civil rights of "normal" Americans have not been violated. But the POTENTIAL for tyrannical abuse is written into the Patriot Act.

As everyone ought to know by now, power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Thomas Jefferson would HATE The Patriot Act.

But i has many precedents in the immoral and unconstitutional activities of Andrew Jackson, Lincoln, TR, Wilson, FDR and others no doubt.

Rather than followers of Frank, Kerry, Kenndy's and their ilk. It was the Teddy...the drunk and murderer that gave us the looniedom. RIP.

Boston...the "cradle of liberty"....nah...a cradle of liberal porn and treason.

We can do without the Boston insurance bankers and pin stripe wannabes of the "Ivy League" whores.

Beamish,
I think Anthrax should've made a song called Caught in a Mosque (cf Among the Living).

Ducky,
You seem to be on a personal mission to prove Ann Coulter's point--the one about how liberals' idea of refuting a point is to call the other person dumb.

BTW...watch out when you call 911...you'll get a functionally illiterate, stupid totally unqualified moron ( AA ) to answer to your distress. AA...where failure translates to a passing grade.

They say..."maybe African American ( dumbells " might not be able to qualify as police officers" due to the difficulty of the test.

Yet...whites can pass the test with no problems. It can't get any more disgusting than this....Reminds me of the so called "Doctors" who couldn't pass the Medical SAT's.

Lucas Sullivan, Dayton Daily News, March 10, 2011

Justice have agreed on a lower passing score for the police recruit exam after it was rejected because not enough blacks passed the exam.

The city lowered both written exams a combined 15 points that resulted in 258 more people passing the exam, according to a statement released Thursday by Civil Service officials. The agreement allows the city to immediately resume its plans to hire police and firefighters.

The original passing scores determined by Civil Service required candidates to answer 57 of 86 (66 percent) questions correctly on one portion and 73 of 102 (72 percent) on the other. The lowered benchmark requires candidates to answer 50 of 86 (58 percent) questions correctly and 64 of 102 (63 percent) of questions on the other.

"A total of 748 people passed the exam under the new benchmarks. It is unclear the demographics of those who passed.

As opposed to the initial test takers who passed.

Great.....multicultural bovine excrement at it's best.

Totally unqualified morons now allowed to carry guns.

This, is in California....paradise lost and completely dumb to the peril they have been put in by asshole, progressive loons. With pensions too.

Ducky...read Sam Hungtington's comment on the Lexington deal.

I don't have time or I'd love to give you a list of Biden or John Kerry gaffes, Ducky.
Heck, there's a Dem congressman who thinks Guantanamo's going to sink from the weight of prisoners!
Just stop. I know you hate Bachmann..... so does Huffington POst, where you got the information....

Louis H, you're absolutely right...but DUcky has to grasp at any straw he can to criticize when the facts are irrefutable. Thanks for coming by.

Common Sense, I just saw your comment. THat's a very different situation. David Gregory skips the most important revelation of the wknd to ask her questions? Just completely ignores the biggest news of the day because he's got an agenda? No...I'm no Palin OR O'Reilly fan, trust me, but that's not a fair comparison in interview styles at all.
Yes, they cut in ON THE SAME SUBJECT..>Bachmann mentions something multiple times and Gregory just ignores her? Not good and really stupid on Gregory's part; he could have had a great story but he obviously didn't have the facts with which to fight her.

NEW YORK TIMES on RON PAUL (truncated)

http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/people/p/ron_paul/index.html?offset=10&s=newest

Ron Paul

Ron Paul, the Republican Congressman for the 14th congressional district of Texas, is an outspoken critic of American foreign and monetary policy, widely known for his libertarian positions on a host of political and social issues.

During his 20 years in Congress, Mr. Paul has staked out the lonely end of 434-to-1 votes against legislation that he considers unconstitutional, even on issues as ceremonial as granting Mother Teresa a Congressional Gold Medal. His colleagues have dubbed him “Dr. No,” but his wife will insist that they have the spelling wrong: he is really Dr. Know.

He has been called the “intellectual godfather of the Tea Party,” but Mr. Paul is also is the real father of the Tea Party movement’s most high-profile winner, Senator-elect Rand Paul of Kentucky.K

In December 2010, after years of blocking him from a leadership position, Mr. Paul’s fellow Republicans named him chairman of the House subcommittee on domestic monetary policy, which oversees the Federal Reserve as well as the currency and the valuation of the dollar.

Dr. Paul, an obstetrician with the manner of acountry doctor, has strong views on those issues. He has written a book called “End the Fed”; he embraces Austrian economic thought, which holds that the government has no role in regulating the economy; and he advocates a return to the gold standard.

Dr. Paul has said he will use his chairmanship to renew his push for a full audit of the Fed and to hold a series of hearings on monetary policy.

Many Republicans elected to Congress in November 2010 campaigned on precisely the issues that Mr. Paul has been talking about for 40 years: forbidding Congress from any action not explicitly authorized in the Constitution, eliminating entire federal departments as unconstitutional and checking the power of the Fed.

Republicans had blocked Dr. Paul from leading the monetary policy panel once before, and banking executives reportedly urged them to do so again. But Republicans on Capitol Hill increasingly recognize that Mr. Paul has a following — among his supporters from 2008 and within the Tea Party, which helped the Republicans recapture the House majority by picking up Mr. Paul’s longstanding and highly vocal opposition to the federal debt ...

Mr. Paul acknowledged the sometimes competing interests among Tea Party supporters and his fans. “What brings them together is this acceptance that there’s something really wrong, that we’ve spent too much money and government’s too big,” he said.

The mind boggles. Next thing we know Beamish will produce the Polaroids to prove Bachmann is a head banger.

Why don't you show us how sophisticated you are, Ducky, and go listen to NPR for an obscure symphony and composer no one remembers anything about except that it was never appreciated by anyone with music training for anything in its lifetime so you can impress your friends when you too find your own never used copy in a dusty bargain bin.

If Bachmann was a headbanger, that just makes her that much cooler, more so if she were a headbanger back when Al Gore was trying to save the world from rock and roll.

Golly. Next she'll insist that Ron Paul's less than 1% draw in the Presidential elections doesn't count his widespead support among al Qaeda and people who can't read.

Honor Mother Teresa? NO!

Honor Lu Xiaobo? NO!

Honor Chi Chi Rodriguez? Yes!

He can't help himself, Z. Part of being a member of the Ron Paul cult is never having to say anything coherent or relevant.

I think it's a part of their manifesto - "Any mention of Ron Paul's ties to neo-Nazis and 9/11 Troofers must be buried with masturbatory and reflexive copy and pastes of quotes from the Dear Leader's wife"

Seriously, when even Alan Keyes and Tommy Thompson can handily crush your candidate in a Presidential primary debate, it's time to pack it up and go back to Obscurityville.

Must Beamish dominate this blog with his incessant denunciations every time someone mentions something Beamy Boy has decided not to like, so he has yet another excuse to vent his hyperactive spleen?

It is certainly okay not to like any public figure past or present -- even St. Abraham Lincoln -- but it is NOT all right to spread lies and viciously inaccurate assertions with charged rhetoric, and expect them to sit uncorrected.

Once again we present classic characteristics of bullying. If the shoe fits ...

What is bullying? (Selected)

constant nit-picking, fault-finding and criticism of a trivial nature - the triviality, regularity and frequency betray bullying; often there is a grain of truth (but only a grain) in the criticism to fool you into believing the criticism has validity, which it does not; often, the criticism is based on distortion, misrepresentation or fabrication

• simultaneous with the criticism, a constant refusal to acknowledge you and your contributions and achievements or to recognise your existence and value

• constant attempts to undermine you and your position, status, worth, value and potential

where you are in a group ... being singled out and treated differently; for instance, everyone else can get away with murder but the moment you put a foot wrong - however trivial - action is taken against you

• being isolated and separated from colleagues, excluded from what's going on, marginalized, overruled, ignored, sidelined, frozen out, sent to Coventry

• being belittled, demeaned and patronised, especially in front of others

• being humiliated, shouted at and threatened, often in front of others

• having your responsibility increased but your authority taken away

• having unrealistic goals set, which change as you approach them

• finding that everything you say and do is twisted, distorted and misrepresented

• being subjected to disciplinary procedures with verbal or written warnings imposed for trivial or fabricated reasons ...

• being coerced into leaving through no fault of your own ...

The TRUTH is often so painful we project it onto others instead of dealing with it in our selves. Not liking anyone is, indeed, okay, but DECEPTION is not. SELF-deception is the worst kind of all. If you want to be nasty, that's fine -- be nasty -- but don't pretend you're doing it in service to a righteous cause.

Oh, NO...another lengthy definition of something we all know the definition of. Please STOP, FT.
Really..start a blog of your own and do ANYTHING you please, that would be just fantastic for you!

You throw red meat about Ron Paul, who you very well know Beamish doesn't admire, and then you post this comment!??!!

You're obviously feeling quite the victim and I'm sorry you feel that way; you certainly had the chance not to say horrid things to me (Beamish never has), or to stop throwing red meat to get arguments built here like the vile ones you participated in at FPM, or to stop posting very off-topic posts, or continually augment my posts with information you found so necessary.......Nobody's ever treated me here like you have and so I'd call my remarks to you less bullying than self-defense. I do have a blog I have worked hard to build and preserve and that's not changing.
Nobody wishes anybody any harm, I just want a peaceful blog.
Beamish goes half-cocked and nuts on things but he doesn't go off-topic, he is ALWAYS respectful to me (ALWAYS, and I appreciate it), he is PROTECTIVE of me, and has a lot of great information to add here.
You do, too, I'm sorry that just can't work.

all the best.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

It occurs to me that someone who has been asked repeatedly not to post here, and who is 100% decidedly not welcome here wouldn't notice a thing I post here, whatever I post here, because they're not here to read or comment on it.

Sheesh. How stupid does a loser have to be to need directions on how to go away and fuck off?

Call the ACLU, I'm bullying!

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

The problem with The Patriot Act is not what it HAS done, but what i COULD do in the "wrong" hands.

Isn't this true of ANY law?

As an example, I was skeptical of the "Puppy Mill Cruelty Prevention Act" law [recently struck down] here in Missouri because its draconian provisions would put legitimate dog breeders out of business, and under obtuse interpretations of the law would have even gone after people who keep hamsters as pets or grazing animals (like cattle or goats) while really doing nothing about unsanitary, cruel, unlicensed "puppy mills" and pet hoarders at all. AND... if you own pets, the state would have a right to search your home on mere suspicion that you're running an illegal animal breeding operation. The more vague a law is written, the more ripe for abuse it can be.

There's nothing vague about the Patriot Act. ALL of its search and wiretap provisions must pass muster in a FISA court, which has even stricter criteria than just getting a criminal search warrant from the local judge.

As everyone ought to know by now, power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

And hyperventilating histrionics based on unquantifiable paranoid fears and over-exerted buffoonish demogoguery isn't a legal argument, it's a delusional tirade.
