A few observations ...Kennedy, Dodd and Obama....yawn

Wouldn't you consider sleep deprivation pretty darned tame interrogation tactics for terrorists?
I'm just sayin' about it HERE. How DO we get information anymore if we can't DO something to GET IT? Got any ideas for the CIA? ....IF they're even allowed to talk to terrorists anymore after Holder gets through with them?

And I so understand Senator Dodd's grief, but I thought THIS HERE was a bit self-serving...don't you? I mean, the man's behind in his polls and now he wants to continue his dear friend's life work? "So vote for me?"
Anyway, I thought that legacy was decided, since Chris Matthews has now designated Obama as the 'last Kennedy brother'?? (are you ready for THAT?:-) Well, they DO kind of look like brothers, don't they? What are your thoughts?

I think we ought to take out our secret weapon to get these terrorists to talk. Of course I speak of the liberal chew your ear off treatment where a room full of libtards talk to the terrorist until he begs for mercy and starts spilling his guts so fast that 6 translators can't keep up (usually at least an hour, but do not EVER exceed 6 hours). Just don't let the ACLU get wind of it.

What does the Average American think about the death of another Kennedy? "One down and 59 to go!" (liberal Senators)

Of course it's self-serving, but they are only "talking amongst themselves". Teddy boy was an icon within the fringe far left liberal crowd, after all. He was no transcending American hero. These guys can be the biggest hypocrites in the world as long as their "lifes work" is directed toward more and more government control over our lives.

Did Matthews get a thrill up his leg too? Sheesh.

You, Big Fat Drunk Ted, are a genuine American Traitor, brazenly disloyal to the American people while blindingly loyal to your twisted, fetid equality ideology, and who should be thankful a blessed cancer ate your brain to mush instead of a hangman’s noose breaking your neck in the public square.

You, Kennedy scion, are an Avatar of the Great Lie, a repugnant purveyor of damnable falsehoods. The people of Massachusetts shame themselves in endlessly returning you to office.

Benedict Arnold commends you.
Ted Kennedy represents what is wrong with the U.S. in many more ways than some silly right/left-wing false dichotomy. You really think Ted, or any other Kennedy, gives a dzmn about anything but their own self-interest. They merely pimped The Left in the same manner that the Bush family have pimped The Right. Politics for these bastards begins and ends at their own wealth
I am a very strong left-winger. Very strong. That doesn't stop me slagging off one of our own.
I do hope that they don't cremate him.

That could be nasty. Think Chernobyl crossed with the Great Fire of London.

It could take years to put him out.

Average American,

It's okay to threaten voters with a billy club at the polls.

Just don't you ever, ever, ever, ever blow cigar smoke in a terrorist's face.

A Kennedy brother? Barack Obama has never served his nation in the military as the Kennedy brothers did.

And apparently, Barack does not cheat on his wife. There's two big differences right there.

If sleep deprivation is torture, we women must stop having babies because a new born is certainly a torture device.

Chris Matthew is a moron honestly. But in a way it makes sense. I was just hearing about a KGB report describing how Ted Kennedy tried to help the USSR on how to handle Reagan's nuclear armament policy. Obama sold the plans of the bomber to China for debt relief and wants to undermine this country national security. So Matthew the Clown is right.

Dodd's grief is that he's got to carry on with open-faced waitress sandwiches now that his pal is gone.

Hypocrites all. These are the very people who after 9/11 were yelling about the Bush administration not connecting the dots.

Some days taking on the hypocrisy left feels like an overwhelming chore.

Z, we don't.

"Chris Matthews has now designated Obama as the 'last Kennedy brother'??"
Yes, he can join Clinton as the first black President.

I'm convinced these people are suffering from arrested development. Five years old sounds about right.

Well, let me count the ways!!
He cheated in Harvard, dodged the draft, held onto the tailcoats of his older brothers, was banned from Nantucket for not paying his bar and dinner tabs, killed a girl and tried to have it covered up, is a fat drunk stupid slob, and the liberal Dems worship him. go figure.
He just could not understand that the dignity of man comes from ones own accomplishments, not from handouts.
Ted should have been pushing to give every citizen the healthcare that he was receiving.
What's sad is that this is what Democrats hold up as some kind of hero!

Talk about inverted morality! Ted Kennedy is no role model in any sense of the term.

The attempt by the media to canonize him as some sort of saint is nauseating

Senator Kennedy's place in history will always have an asterisk after it denoting how he left a young woman to drown while saving himself. Ted's place in history was right next to OJ, one who famously got away with murder. He was a modern day aristocrat...Living high on the labor of the serfs he so claimed to love. A supposedly benevolent lord who would give his serfs free health care, and education as long as they still were able to be taxed and didnt learn too much.

He will go down in history as a corrupt backroom dealer who never worked in the real world.
Well, maybe Mary Joe, can sleep soundly now!

Senator Edward M. Kennedy is Dead (1932-2009)

A Dream Lies Dead

A dream lies dead here. May you softly go
Before this place, and turn away your eyes,
Nor seek to know the look of that which dies
Importuning Life for life. Walk not in woe,
But, for a little, let your step be slow.
And, of your mercy, be not sweetly wise
With words of hope and Spring and tenderer skies.
A dream lies dead; and this all mourners know:

Whenever one drifted petal leaves the tree ––
Though white of bloom as it had been before
And proudly waitful of fecundity ––
One little loveliness can be no more;
And so must Beauty bow her imperfect head
Because a dream has joined the wistful dead!

~ Dorothy Parker

Dedicated today, August 26, 2009, to the loving memory
of Mary Jo Kopechne (1940-1969)

Do not know what you intended by sending a poem written about Mary Jo K or if you sent it because it is a universal statement about loss, but it is a lovely poem.  Too bad Kennedy could not die without  the link to the woman he killed.   We need to learn how to deal with indiscretions so they have closure and don't keep resurfacing.

It is a lovely poem -- surprisingly written by Dorothy Parker, who is not particularly well-known for her serious verse. The piece was written long before Mary Jo Kopechne was born. You're right in seeing it as a universal statement about loss.

It would be a travesty to eulogize Kennedy without remembering Mary Jo at the same time. Their destinies were inextricably linked. For me it would be hypocrisy to think otherwise. He carelessly ended her life at a tragically young age. The way he handled himself afterward forever defined his character, and made it impossible for him to run for the presidency. I remain amazed, even after having had forty years to think about it, that Kennedy was able to remain in public life in any capacity let alone the US senate.

I wonder where poor Joan is today -- and what she may be feeling? Is she even still alive? Does anyone know? Does anyone care?

I agree with you about “indiscretions,” but not about atrocities. There is a world of difference between the two.
