Box Cutters and Pepto Bismol??

They seem close to dropping the possible charges against the two men arrested in Amsterdam for questions regarding a dry-run terrorist attack. They say that the two say they don't know each other and heck, doesn't everybody attach cell phones to bottles of Pepto Bismol? This article says "It was then they discovered suspicious items in his bag, a cell phone taped to a Pepto-Bismol bottle, multiple cell phones and watches taped together, and a knife and box cutter.."

More from the article "Kip Hawley, the former Transportation Security administrator, said it is not unusual to find items like watches and cell phones bound together on flights to countries like Yemen. He said this would always catch the screener's eye. In 2007, TSA alerted screeners that suspicious items found at U.S. airports may indicate that terrorists were conducting dry runs. Screeners are deliberately on the lookout for such items." YA THINK?

Do YOU ever carry box cutters and knives and multiple cell phones and watches taped together when YOU'RE traveling to Yemen?

I just wondered.

I haven't been to Yemen, but I'm glad you told me what to pack. I would never have guessed! I'd rather keep the Pepto closer than luggage though. My tummy would surely be upset!

Linda, pack plenty of self defense. Real rough country, especially for a western woman.

However, you may enjoy Aden if you are properly armed and wearing a burqa. Kind of a wild west type place.

Good to see someone was paying attention and had a chat with these two.

Maybe it's a good idea to let them go a keep a close eye in case they contact some bigger fish. Doesn't look like the "A" team. These guys are a dime a dozen.

It also bugged me that they're showing photos of what's a red flag now....
Dear Terrorists: They tried THIS, so don't YOU try this or they might catch you again.
Sincerely, Terror Attempters

well, z, it's a kinder gentler world now - it's our job to help the terrorists. just ask the nyt...

i wonder if this type of packing would be appropriate if i were going to chicago or dc - after all both of those places are quite dangerous.

Actually, I think you will find Box Cutters and Pepto Bismol among the earliest suras of the Qu'ran.

Meanwhile, while the decoys are being questioned about why they taped their phones to empty bottles of Pepto, drawing manpower away from security functions, the actual dry running terrorist passes through without scrutiny.

"Honey pots" and distraction decoys are one of the oldest tricks in spycraft.
