Sunday Faith Blog

How long, O Lord, must I call for help,
but you do not listen?
Or cry out to you, "Violence!"
but you do not save?
Why do you make me look at injustice?
Why do you tolerate wrong?

Destruction and violence are before me;
there is strife, and conflict abounds.

Therefore the law is paralyzed,

and justice never prevails.
The wicked hem in the righteous,

so that justice is perverted.....

Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails

and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.

The Sovereign Lord is my strength,

he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to go on the heights..... Habakkuk

Take comfort, Americans of faith. Happy Sunday.

Happy Sunday to you, too, sweet sister.

Talk about feet of a deer on high places on my Scripture today...please check out this book:

http://www.amazon.com/Hinds-Feet-Places-Hannah-Hurnard/dp/0842314296

It's an amazing allegory and VERY well worth reading.

Susannah, thanks for the terrific addition! There are SO MANY encouraging verses! I had to publish mine today because it's SO apt today, so clearly what's happening...xx

Elbro, it's a good one, isn't it.

Good Morning everyone. I just finished reading an excellent, albeit hair-raising account of the liberation of Baghdad. The valiant young men of the US Army's 3rd.Infantry/Mechanized 69th. Armored Brigade take as their inspiration and unit motto "Send Me.'' From Isaiah 6:8 "I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?"" Then said I, "Here am I; send me.'' That is the meaning of selfless devotion and sacrifice. So much for Obama and his 'we're not a Christian nation''. Thank God our men and women in uniform don't buy that bs. Johnnymac.

JohnnyMac, how long before the (earthly!) powers that be ban "SEND ME"?
What a BEAUTIFUL story, thanks SO MUCH for sharing that, it really did lift me up. xxx

Don't these verses I posted just sound so much like what we're going through TODAY?

By the way, I'm reading an astonishing book called ZIV...

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_6_3?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=zvi+the+miraculous+story+of+triumph+over+the+holocaust&sprefix=zvi&ih=2_1_0_0_0_0_0_0_0_1.482_269&fsc=-1

It's about a young boy who survives the holocaust and gets to Israel ....the best and most accessible history of the early days of Israel and the different factions (British, Arab, Israeli) I've ever read.
Anybody who reads THIS will FINALLY realize that the Jews were given that part of PALESTINE and then the Arabs started hammering the very next day! What dopes think that's LEGAL or honorable?

Anyway, the book's amazing and the boy comes to Christian faith on his own; just from his own pain and someone handing him a New Testament...it's beautiful. I HIGHLY recommend it....and can barely wait till the end because I was told "Make sure you don't read the end until you're there!"

Z, this is so timely. We all need strength in these days of uncertainty, and this says it so powerfully.

"how long before the (earthly!) powers that be ban "SEND ME"? "

They can try to ban it, but they can't stop it.

I need some strength and I am having a problem with that. Amongst other things I've had to lay off more of my employees this past month and it appears I'll be doing precisely that again this coming week. On a personal level there are any number of other issues extant. I am, frankly, discovering that it is difficult to attempt a positive mien. It will pass, of course, but it lingers like a disease of the mind, heart and soul.

Hinds Feet on High Places is good stuff, isn't it, Z?

Happy Sunday.

Love,

Jen, the message is SUBLIME! So counter intuitive to what we expect!

BZ, I'm SO SORRY you're going through so much....it will pass but it's hell going through it. I'll say a prayer :-)

Pris, my Scripture on the post sure does describe today, doesn't it.

BZ, I can see how distubing this must be for you. I hope the best for you, but can see the downside. There is no upside in what you have to do.

The company my son worked for has been foreclosed upon. After months of all employees being furloughed, three days a week,
They hung on as long as they could. Now, it's over. Kaput.

I pray nothing like this happens to you. In this case, misery doesn't love company.

To expect, at this time, for you to be positive is asking too much.
Reality being what it is.

Yes, at some point it will pass, but the here and now, takes a toll. We can pray and work for a good outcome in November, and that gradually, things will improve.

I pray for that every day, as I'm sure we all do. The best of luck to you BZ. It's always darkest before the light, and there will be light once again.

I can hardly think of a more fitting text of Scripture than the one from Habakkuk. He is one of my favorite minor prophets, maybe of all Biblical writers. There is no doubt what he is thinking & feeling because he pours out his heart to God as he writes. God never rebukes him either because his were honest questions.
We may very well be coming to the time when only our relationship with the Lord will be revealed as able to abide the storm. The time the Lord spoke of in Hebrews 12 may be nearing, when all the kingdomss of the world will be shaken, so that only that which is of God will remain. But, we have our Lord's promise that all who trust in Him as Savior will never be cast out & have eternal life! Thank you for this wonderful & precious reminder!

Thanks, David...I thought it really describes what we are seeing today.
Everything old is new again, huh?!\
I hope America wakes up ...and soon.
And I hope people get busy praying.
