Chile's rescue was largely due to US

I was emailed this and would love to give credit to the blogger or whoever else put it together... I Googled and plenty are carrying this piece but. regardless of who compiled this list and my not being able to give credit where credit is due, I had to have it here because I remember thinking how weird it was that President Obama said nothing about the great involvement of American companies in rescuing the Chilean miners.  I wonder if it's because these are those 'horrible private companies' that Obama hates?    Too bad HE couldn't give credit where credit was due.

Far be it for an American President to publicly congratulate (let alone even mention) AMERICAN ingenuity and AMERICAN PRIVATE ENTERPRISE for the miracle rescue of the Chilean Miners.

Schramm Inc. of West Chester, Pennsylvania built the drills and equipment used to reach the trapped miners.

Center Rock Company, also from Pennsylvania, built the drill bits used to reach the miners.

UPS, the US shipping company, delivered the 13-ton drilling equipment from Pennsylvania to Chile in less than 48 hours.

Crews from Layne Christensen Company of Wichita Kansas and its subsidiary Geotec Boyles Bros. worked the drills and machinery to locate and reach the miners and then enlarge the holes to ultimately rescue them.

Jeff Hart of Denver Colorado was called off his job drilling water wells for the U.S. Army's forward operating bases in Afghanistan to lead the drilling crew that reached the miners.

Atlas Copco Construction Mining Company of Milwaukee, Wisconsin provided consulting on how to make drilling equipment from different sources work together under differing pressure specifications.

Aries Central California Video of Fresno California designed the special cameras that were lowered nearly a mile into the ground sending back video of the miners.

Zephyr Technologies of Annapolis Maryland, made the remote monitors of vital signs that miners will wear during their ascent.

NASA Engineers designed the "Phoenix" capsule that miners would be brought to the surface in, and provided medical consulting, special diets and spandex suits to maintain miners' blood pressure as they're brought back to the surface.

Oh, and Candadian-based Precision Drilling Corp. and South-African company Murray & Roberts, drilled a backup rescue shafts in case the American rig failed. Which it didn't.

What I want to know is how the heck UPS got that huge 13-ton drill into one of their brown UPS trucks. :-)

They put part of it in the front next to the driver and the rest in the back.

Getting the truck to Chile on time was the real trick.

This was in my inbox this morning. Gave me a warm feeling.

Cube, wouldn't you think the president would spend at least a public 10 minutes waxing eloquent on AMerican corporations and their ingenuity!

Wait, WHAT AM I THINKING? HAAA

Well, Mustang, we already heard lefties saying that Conservatives would have died down there because they'd all have been too busy saving their own skin to give a darn about the others, so you're probably right.
amazing

Nice list.

Thanks god those companies could make up for Bush's mistake in Chile. Because we all know it's Bush's fault.

American ingenuity proved once again, that we are an exceptional country. Obama is irrelevant.

Even he can't kill this wonderful ability that exists here. It's in our DNA. If something needs to be done, we will find a way, and we'll do it ourselves.

Spirit and incentive is a hard thing to kill. Especially in a place which has always been free to solve whatever hardship we've faced.

I've always been proud of my country, and this is just another example of why. We don't need President Obama to confirm who we are, we already know it.

Thanks, Jingo!

Pris, I wonder if MIchelle Obama's finally proud after this? Ya THINK? :-)
It really makes me realize that we still ARE America and companies still do things this terrific.
Remember, that AMerican in Afghanistan who oversaw the drilling dropped everything IN Afghanistan and went to Chile because he wasn't having anybody stuck down there another two months and thought he could help. HE SURE DID!
THEN that amazing American (most Americans were like this even only 20 years ago) didn't even stick around for the glory....he was interviewed streaming live from his hotel room, saying "It's THEIR celebration, I'm glad I could have helped!"

MY GOSH..THAT is an American!

Z, I'd be surprised if the Obamas even watched any of this or were concerned with it. I'd like to be wrong, but Obama didn't heap praise on the Americans, did he?

This President never has anything good to say about America or her people. Why would he start now?

No, Pris, no heaping praise, like I said in my first paragraph...I'd have thought a nice five minute speech on American ingenuity would have been in order from a very proud president, but then he'd have to congratulation non-government entities, CORPORATIONS, and he can't bring himself to do that...right?

Don't expect anything complimentary about America coming from Ole Purple Lips. He is so far into denial about his rapidly flagging support, that he could be riding on Cleopatra's barge.
