I believe in Las Vegas. I think its best days are ahead of it, but I’m afraid to do anything in the current political environment in the United States. You watch television and see what is going on on this debt ceiling issue and what I consider to be a total lack of leadership from the President, and nothing is going to get fixed until the President himself steps up and wrangles both parties in Congress.
But everybody is so political, so focused on holding their job for the next year, that the discussion in Washington is nauseating. And I’m saying it bluntly, that this administration is the greatest wet blanket to business and progress and job creation in my lifetime. And I could prove it and I could spend the next three hours giving you examples of all of us in this marketplace that are frightened to death about all the new regulations, our healthcare costs escalate, regulations coming from left and right, a President that seems — that keeps using that word redistribution.
Well, my customers, and the companies that provide the vitality for the hospitality and restaurant industries in the United States of America, they are frightened of this administration. And it makes you slow down and not invest your money.
Everybody complains about how much money is on the side in America. You bet. And until we change the tempo and the conversation from Washington, it is not going to change. And those of us who have business opportunities and the capital to do it are going to sit in fear of the President.
And a lot of people don’t want to say that. They say, oh God, don’t be attacking Obama.
Well, this is Obama’s deal. And it is Obama that is responsible for this fear in America. The guy keeps making speeches about redistribution and maybe we ought to do something to businesses that don’t invest, they are holding too much money.
You know, we haven’t heard that kind of talk except from pure socialists. Everybody is afraid of the government and there is no need soft-pedaling it. It is the truth. It is the truth.
And that is true of Democratic businessmen, and Republican businessmen, and I am a Democratic businessman, and a repu — I support Harry Reid, I support Democrats and Republicans, and I am telling you that the business community in this country is frightened to death of the weird political philosophy of the President of the United States. And until he is gone, everybody is going to be sitting on their thumbs.

Steve Wynn on OBAMA

I'm sure he got a lot of private phone calls from other business owners thanking him for being brave enough to speak ill of the regime.
thanks, Steve, I don't officially 'follow' any bloggers but I will come by.
SF...yes, apparently he says a lot of businessmen agree with him.
The problem, however, is that the Left's painted BUSINESS as BAD, so even this input from Wynn will be met more with derision than a wake-up call. How sad even the Left will be when Obama's finished with this economy ..
Of course, Wynn is correct. The only thing I don't understand is how he could've voted for Reid after watching the healthcare debacle.
Reid was involved in the strongarmed tactics used to pass that bill, up to his neck!
Reid also strongarmed hotel employees to get out and vote for him. In doing so, they very well could have voted for the demise of their jobs.
Wynn and other hotel and casino owners should've spent their money on anti Reid political ads instead.
Hindsight is 20/20, but it was obvious before the 2010 election, that the private sector was not a priority with the administration or the democrat Congress.
Now, I do credit Steve Wynn for speaking out, I just wish he'd done it this time last year.
Pris, isn't that amazing?
It just goes to show you Nevada politics; how could he NOT have supported that creepy Reid who knows where all the skeletons are buried and how to strong arm?
I'd have respected this guy a lot more had he supported Sharon Angle, though she didn't do much for me, either.
Steve Wynn is an AMAZING guy..nearly completely blind and a powerhouse.
Mr. Z met with him at least 4 times on a project that he sold to the Vegas community....sadly, Mr. Z then negotiated the sale of the company he was president of to a huge American corporation and they decided not to continue the project which would have been such a boost to Vegas....
Mr. Z said Wynn is a tough businessman but very respectful, sharp and really very nice, which kind of surprised me, frankly.
And meanwhile, all that comes from the left is cries of racism and no-no-no obama is the greatest, it's that bush, everything's fine. Idiots.
Sharon Angle was ok. Reid is a wimpy little man with no dynamism whatsoever. So while Angle may not have been dynamic, she at least seems to be strong in her beliefs, and a straight talker.
What Reid had was a war chest Angle didn't have. The TP went in there and put up campaign ads supporting her, and raised money for her campaign. I know because we contributed to their effort.
Reid had the DNC, and big backers. I don't know to this day, if the RNC went in there in a big way to support her! Somehow, I doubt it.
Mk....absolutely right
Pris, I don't think the GOP wants anybody who's a true Conservative running. We've talked already about how Rove and others slam TP candidates......they're scared to death of them and we should be very aware of that and act accordingly....doing what, I don't know!
Z, I am so glad you posted this! I was going to do the same. And don't you just love that Mr. Wynn is a Democrat?
This is refreshing. Hard to believe that I actually agree with a liberal Democrat.
" don't understand is how he could've voted for Reid after watching the healthcare debacle."
Back in the wild and wooly days of the mobs control of Las Vegas...it's a well know fact that Hairy Red had massive markers to the big casinos.
Harry was the profile used in Goodfellas and Casino as the senator who was the most corrupt, degenerate and for sale in Vegas.
Harry is a turd who has floated to the surface in the politics and mystery of Vegas..and one who has managed not to be flushed down a sewer.
Harry has plenty of markers, yet unpaid to those who really run Nevada.
Does anyone really believe that Vegas is as clean as he'd like you to believe?
It's not NY or Chicago that controls crime any longer....it's always been Vegas. Just follow the money.
Pris, as someone from Nevada, all I'll say about Ms. Angle is that even the people of her own district did not support her in her bid for the Senate.
If you cannot win the votes of the people who know you best, why should anyone else in the state vote for you?
Dave! Angle was ahead most of the campaign and lost by only 6 pts in her area. My goodness...that she was comparatively unknown, had the liberal media working hard against her, and had less money and clout than Reid and still did so well kind of negates your point, but......we all see what we want to, don't we.
"they're scared to death of them and we should be very aware of that and act accordingly....doing what, I don't know!"
Z, We keep doing what we did last year. If they don't like it, well tough!
Dave, I don't know about that. Harry resorted to using thugs to get service employees out to vote for him. In fact they paid people to vote for him.
Does that sound like Angle wasn't doing well? She was outspent. It's as simple as that.
Btw, who did you vote for? Never mind, I think I know.
Vegas started out with dirt and tumbleweed. With repesentatives like Reid, and a President like Obama, it may end up that way.
Take a look at Detroit, and tell me that can't happen.
We have people in California who think like you, and businesses which were here, have fled to places like Texas, and who can blame them?
Unfortunately, common sense is in short supply these days.
