Sunday Faith Blog (and a comment you'll want to see about Herman Cain)

God’s Caress

What is this hush, that like a heavenly air
    Of clearest blue
Enfoldeth me, a Presence everywhere –
    Or like the dew
White on the grass, cooleth, refresheth me
Until the dawn is all alight with Thee?

“Child, it is I; for I, thy Lord, am here –
     Beneath, above,
Around, within thee, nearer far than near –
     An air of Love,
A dew of peace to cool thy weariness.
Child, it is I.  This hush is My caress.”

"And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.   God is love.  Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in Him."  1 John 4:16.
Have a wonderful Sunday.......remember you are loved.

How beautiful Z.

We all need reassurance from time to time, and this surely reaffirms it.

Z - Your Sunday Faith Blog left me with a feeling of calm reassurance.

But at the same time I had the feeling that I should print it out and post it in a prominent place in my house.

The cool green of the picture will not be the case here, as we experience the severe heat wave that is plaguing the Midwest.

My only hope is that the power does not go off at any point!

I can't even imagine what it will be like for those who are forced to be outside because of jobs, or elderly that are living alone and may not have air conditioning.

Please send some prayers our way,z.

Sue, I hope that heat passes very soon and, definitely, that there are no power outages!

By the way..our 405 fwy is open 16 hours ahead of time! Carmageddon was a complete wash! everything went unbelievably well, very little traffic; boy, EVERYBODY stayed home!

I'd now vote for Herman Cain just for having had the guts to say that alone.

“Our constitution guarantees equal protection under the law,” said Beamish, a perennial Dytopian Kakistocratic candidate for President of Most of the United States Except Massachussetts. “Populism combines mob rule and state. They are using the freedom of expression part of our First Amendment to infuse their bigotry in the community and people the bigotry is aimed at in the community don’t like it. They disagree with it. A fascist police state is what they are trying to infuse.”

You really make me laugh!

Well, you take a poke in the eye for praising Herman Cain well. :P

You'd think if conservatives wanted to replace Obama they'd field a candidate already.

That's your poke in the eye, not mine, Beamish.
I think Cain ROCKS for having said this. And, by the way, I'll vote for anybody but Obama or another leftwinger by now...ANYBODY

Excuse me? I tend to think Herman Cain knows more about pizza than the Constitution, and considering Godfather's Pizza is among the nastiest substances you can put in your mouth this side of Pepsi-Cola, that's not high praise.

He's essentially saying that communities have the right to decide if certain members of their community have the freedom of religion and expression guaranteed by the Constitution.

I want that left-wing fascist twit (pardon the redundancy) no where anything even resembling power.

Because I'm nice, I'll give him some pointers on what an actual enemy of tyranny would say:

"If anything pass in a religious meeting seditiously and contrary to the public peace, let it be punished in the same manner and no otherwise than as if it had happened in a fair or market." --Thomas Jefferson: Notes on Religion, 1776. Papers 1:548

"The declaration that religious faith shall be unpunished does not give immunity to criminal acts dictated by religious error." --Thomas Jefferson to James Madison, 1788. ME 7:98

"It is time enough for the rightful purposes of civil government, for its officers to interfere [in the propagation of religious teachings] when principles break out into overt acts against peace and good order." --Thomas Jefferson: Statute for Religious Freedom, 1779. ME 2:302, Papers 2:546

"Whatsoever is lawful in the Commonwealth or permitted to the subject in the ordinary way cannot be forbidden to him for religious uses; and whatsoever is prejudicial to the Commonwealth in their ordinary uses and, therefore, prohibited by the laws, ought not to be permitted to churches in their sacred rites. For instance, it is unlawful in the ordinary course of things or in a private house to murder a child; it should not be permitted any sect then to sacrifice children. It is ordinarily lawful (or temporarily lawful) to kill calves or lambs; they may, therefore, be religiously sacrificed. But if the good of the State required a temporary suspension of killing lambs, as during a siege, sacrifices of them may then be rightfully suspended also. This is the true extent of toleration." --Thomas Jefferson: Notes on Religion, 1776. Papers 1:547

Muslims building a mosque in Murfeesboro, Tennessee is not going to bring sharia law upon America anymore than Ron Paul's supporters are going to launch the Fourth Reich from their trailer parks.
