Since the Pledge of Allegiance
And The Lord's Prayer are not allowed in most
Public schools anymore because the word 'God' is mentioned.....
A kid in Arizona wrote the attached NEW School prayer:
"New Pledge of Allegiance"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.
If scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.
Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene..
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.
For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all..
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.
We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks...
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong..
We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles..
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.
It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!
Amen

Given the state of education today, we should thank God public schools are not trying to teach religion too...

Z, this is a great post.
Not only is this fifteen year old very smart, he's pretty mature for his age, and very thoughtful.
He's true to himself, and knows something is terribly wrong. He has the right of free speech, just like anyone else, and deserves our admiration.
We can hope and pray, there are many other young people like him.
Love the post, Z, expecially the cartoon. I was looking for the Facebook and Twitter icon links to advertise your article, but couldn't find them.
Whenever I post a blog, I automatically have it published on Facebook and Twitter. That is standard stuff, and blogger should have it available. If you allow others to click the facebook icon, you would get a greater readership.

I run this blog pretty proficiently (after all the tons of help from Elmer's Brother, I've learned a lot) but I don't like Facebook and don't even know what you mean, frankly.

Oh. Blogger should have gadgets available that allows readers to "like" or "share" you blog to Facebook, Twitter, or other social networking sites.
I couldn't find such a gadget on Blogger, but they do give you a gadget to allow readers to share your blog on Google+, their own social networking service. Nice of them to do that.
If such were available, you could increase you readership whether you had a Facebook account or not.

I wonder if atheists think that other people actually believe their facade about their "concern" for separation of state and religion? Do they think others can't see through that? Doesn't matter I guess. Either way they get what they want most, freedom from having to acknowledge their Creator.
