Sunday Faith Blog.........and please share with us

Paul writes that "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control" (Galatians 5:22). These are the spiritual flowers of Pentecost. They blossom in the garden of our lives when we open our hearts to the Spirit of God. (Vigen Guroian, from "Inheriting Paradise, Meditations on Gardening")

"The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail." Isaiah 58:11

In a country that very suddenly feels "scorched" like it has never been before, I think it helps to cling to these and other inspiring verses. Please, if you have a particular verse which sustains you through these difficult days in America, could you share them with all of us? Thanks. Have a blessed Sunday.

And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.
The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.
Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?
And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?
- Luke 12:22-25

I used to live by this. Was a much less stressful life.

How beautiful...

Having my own quiet moments before my family wakes up on this Sunday morning. Thought I'd turn to your blog for Sunday faith inspiration. Yep! Sure enough, you've turned me to scripture. Thank you.

This one has been on a crumpled piece of paper that I carried in my pocket for a while. 'Think I'll stick it back in my pocket. I'm gonna need it.

"O Lord save us,
O Lord, grant us success.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord...
You are my God, and I will give you thanks.
You are my God, and I will exalt You.
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; His love endures forever."
Psalms 118:25,26,28

Beamish. Unbelievable that you'd post this because the sentiment is echoed in Matthew 6:25 and 26: The Do Not Worry verses...
25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?"

Sometimes we get a verse in a very weird way and kind of feel God was hitting us over the head with it. This was mine. I can't TELL you how many times that Matthew 6:25 verse shows up in my life....a friend had beautifully illustrated and framed in her breakfast nook, another friend didn't know its significance to me and reminded me of THAT verse when I told her of a particular problem I had, ..well, every time I'm feeling very worried, that verse pops up. And you did it here. Unreal. Thanks, Beamish. I hope you allow it to help you again some day very soon.

Malachi 3:16 & 17
[16] Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
[17] And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

Reminds me that HIS Eye is ever on me, to guide and protect and love!
G*D bless and MARANATHA!

From Psalm 69, a prayer for deliverance:

1 Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul.

2 I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

[...]

13 But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation.

14 Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.

15 Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.

16 Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.

The last chapter of Habakkuk is appropriate as he knows his land is about to be destroyed yet he hopes still in God.

Though the yield of the olive should fail,
and the fields produce no food,

At the end of every seven-year period you shall have a relaxation of debts, which shall be observed as follows. Every creditor shall relax his claim on what he has loaned his neighbor; he must not press his neighbor, his kinsman, because a relaxation in honor of the LORD has been proclaimed. Deut 15:1-2

Hebrews 11:1-3
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."

As believers, our faith is tried and tested. God stays true to is promises and his word.

Be blessed Mr. and Mrs. Z :D

I hope you guys will forgive me for this, but this MAY be breaking news.
Chris Wallace was talking to Janet Napolitano about rumors that she could be Obie's choice for the Supreme Court. The Politico ran an article the other day asking which "group" Obama's pick would appeal to:
1. Hispanics
2. Gays, Lesbians, Bi's, transsex
3. Woman
4. dumb (my addition)

If she's the choice, (G-d help us!) it seems that Obie's gone for numbers 2 and 4. She's the dumbest bulldyke I've seen since Janet Reno! Souter's kinda dumb, so maybe the intellectual level of the discussion won't be affected by the new member? How do idiots like this gain office?

Boy, I was getting all emotional reading these wonderful verses, ALL of which are so comforting, then I read Morgan's.

Morgan; I was waiting for the punchline. Is that NOT a joke? (I'm serious here..it seems like EVERY DAY I see outrageous jokes about obama, and I think they're TRUE because a level of outrageousness has been reached...by releasing CIA memos with pictures, appointing tax dodgers to the Sec of Treasurey, nationalizing, socailizing, etc etc etc) and I'm always thinking the JOKE, the OUTLANDISHLY funny things people send me, COULD BE TRUE.

IS THIS? Napolitano for SCOTUS?

Ya, ANDREW Napolitano maybe? PLEASE, GOD? MAybe you misheard and it's ANDREW? (that's MY little joke..very little...AS IF Obama would CONSIDER a decent man who believes in strict constructionism! haaaaaa!! Another pretty good joke)

Now, I'll proceed to read all these verses again because your comment TOTALLY FREAKED ME OUT!

Z, I SWEAR that i wish I was kidding! This woman is a DUNCE! I wish they were talking to Andrew Napolitano, but they weren't! This also has an upside. She's SUCH a dim bulb that she'll never sway a Kennedy in a close vote...

Dear Z, Psalms 57:1 is my favorite: "Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in you my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.
Hopefully this "disaster" will pass quickly!
Happy Sunday! Me!

Try Psalm 91 on for size in these days;

[1] He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
[2] I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
[3] Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
[4] He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
[5] Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
[6] Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
[7] A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
[8] Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
[9] Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
[10] There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
[11] For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
[12] They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
[13] Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
[14] Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
[15] He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
[16] With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

Revelation 21

1And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

2And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

3And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

Be blessed in your journey and remember when you see the valley, God can fill it, and when you see the mountain, God can bring it low.

Whisper it, shout it, sing it, and believe it, "Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee" (Jeremiah 32:17.)

Hi Z and Mister Z
I feel that we need this promise, esp at a time when Christians are under so much pressure.
I have been following the Perez Hilton/Prejean story and feel the hatred so much towards us and what we stand for
