Glenn Beck's losing advertisers....

Beck apparently said Obama has "exposed himself as a guy"....."with a deep-seated hatred for white people." (I guess he read Obama's books, huh?)

HERE is an article about the advertising problem this whole thing engendered. And here's a quote from the article: "The Clorox Co., a former Beck advertiser, now says that "we do not want to be associated with inflammatory speech used by either liberal or conservative talk show hosts." The maker of bleach and household cleaners said in a statement that it has decided not to advertise on political talk shows. The new Fairness Doctrine for TV?

You'll LOVE this bit: "ColorofChange.org quickly targeted companies whose ads had appeared during Beck's show, telling them what he had said and seeking a commitment to drop him. The goal is to make Beck a liability, said James Rucker, the organization's executive director.

"They have a toxic asset," Rucker said. "They can either clean it up or get rid of it."

Have they ever watched KEITH OLBERMANN?!! Are they kidding here? Glenn's 'toxic' and Olbermann's acceptable!?
Then there's this!! : "UPS' Hallabran said the decision to pull commercials 'should not be interpreted as we are permanently withdrawing our advertising from Fox.' He said the company wants to reach viewers with a wide spectrum of opinions." Like Olbermann and O'Donnell and Maddow, RIGHT? :-)

I'm conflicted, tell you the truth, about Beck's statement.......Honestly, I am. Do you think it was wrong for him to have said it? And, should the advertisers leave in droves? Do you think it's their decision or is there something about their departure that seems odd to you?

There would be something odd about advertisers' pulling their ads if the point is to get their wares exposed to the biggest audience. If Beck lost audience that would be one thing but is there any evidence that he did? Could very well be that this move is entirely political as you seem to be suggesting.

No, I don't think he shouldn't have said what he said. Truth is truth. If bullies are going to object to truth, you still have to tell the truth.

Wrong? No just stupid. He didn't count on his advertisers being smart enough to know that the white supremacy crowd isn't their target demographic.

This is why liberals should never be allowed to vote...ever again. The Lapdog Media FAILED in its job to inform the American people of the racist Barack Obama back when it really mattered. We were betrayed America, on all fronts. Betrayed by the Press. Betrayed by those WHO KNEW the real deal about Obama. Betrayed by liberals who were too stupid, too blind, too full of BDS, or a combination of all three, to see what Obama was all about. We on the right tried to warn America, many of us doing the jobs that Couric, Tweetybird "tingly feelings up my leg" Matthews, Brian "I bow to Obama" Williams, etc SHOULD have been doing. They are now reaping what they sowed, the death of the mainstream media. You won't be missed. Obama has partied with Soros. Obama has partied with unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers and his wife, Bernadine Dorhn. Obama has partied with PLO terrorist Rashid Khalidi, on tape, with ABC playing the part of loyal courtier to the king and refusing to release the tape. Obama has consorted with every anti-American under the sun and following his communist upbringing (Frank Marshall Davis was his first mentor), he betrays us and the Constitution of the United States with every waking moment. In 1995, Obama was caught on tape praising Wright the racist. Was this released to the public? No. Was Obama forced to explain this? No. Was Obama forced to explain his communist upbringing under a pedophile (Davis)? No. Did the press ask him ANY hard questions? No.

Elections have consequences and these consequences are now being hammered home to the American people. The Left, with their fringe groups like NAACP and La Raza are racist in mind, body, and spirit. Indeed, the Left in its entirety, is made of up racists, anti-Americans, and people who have no business voting in any of our elections. They've wished us ill since the 60's and today is no different. In fact, its worse. When liberals use the word "racist" on others, they are actually projecting, nothing more.
Somebody should ask Reid if he feels lucky. I hope the people of Nevada have had of enough of this moron wrapped in an idiot. He is one of those career politicians who out of touch with his constituents. Everyone remember this little gem when it's time to reelect him..
The biggest reason I hate liberals is the fact that they are whiny, ignorant, backward, spoiled, snooty, hypocritical MORONS! And not to forget the fact that they are tree huggers and environmentalist wackos with their political correctness! Not all liberals are but the ones that have posted on this forum are. Truth101, are you listening?

That was stupid to say even though he's entitled to voice his opinion. I do believe Obama has a problem with the Western civilization as something that was created by the white folks, though. It's not necessarily racism from him but it relates to his marxist views and class warfare.

FrogBurger said...

And we should start boycotting companies working with the gov: Chase (I am going to close all my credit cards with them), GEICO, GE (if you can e.g. light bulbs, electronics), etc... Maybe we should have a website listing all those companies to avoid. If they want to play that game, the market of mobsters will be happy to buy somewhere else.

lovelyprism said...

Why shouldn't he have said it? Last I checked this was still America and we still have a right to voice our views and opinions. And it's true. The truth hurts, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be spoken.

Greywolfe said...

Frogburger, you should do a youtube search for obamas book "dreams of my father".

You don't think he's racist, just marxist... You read his book and you'll see just how racist Barry really is.

For crying out loud, folks, you judge a man by two things and you'll get a good idea of what kind of a man he is: His friends and his enemies. You look at who this man associates with and you'll get a really good view of his ideology and his racial beliefs.

If you watched glenn beck last night, you got to meet one of them, The Green Jobs Czar. If that dude isn't a racist nut, I don't know who is. Marxist/communist, yes that too.

FrogBurger said...

It's in my DVR. I'll watch tonight. I don't think it's racism b/c racism means thinking a race is inferior. I use this word very carefully. I don't think Obama thinks that way. But he does have a problem with what Bourdieu would call the dominating class. That is why he apologizes to the world, wishes a good ramadan to Muslims or renames terrorists as unprivileged enemy belligerents. He's a "tiers mondiste" in French. I don't know what the translation is in English. Third-worldist? That is why his kind admires the Che, Fidel, Chavez and so forth. His goal is to end the dominance of the USA over the world's economy and culture. That's why Soros works with him. But I do not believe it's racism. It's actually worse than that. If he considered whites as inferior, he wouldn't even need to change society that much.

But the advertises may just shy away from having their brands associated with the KKK and leave.

Simple. It's all about branding.

FrogBurger said...

From "with a deep-seated hatred for white people" to racism to KKK.
That's why Glenn Beck shouldn't have said anything. Because idiots on both side are going to react with strong emotions and it's not good. It can only hurt what conservative thinking is about. And that's what the left want. So we have to be smarter than that.

Miss T.C. Shore said...

My guess is that this controversy will increase his ratings and ultimately increase his advertising revenue. Beck builds his show around exaggeration and poking fun at the left using extreme examples. There is nothing wrong with that, unless you are thin-skinned, as it appears this administration is.

Nothing Beck has ever said is as inflammatory as most of what Olbermann spews on a daily basis, and Beck is cuter doing it.

I think we need to focus on the debt number rather than this. Because with this, Obama loses. And he can't deny the fact there's no money in the bank anymore and therefore all the spending has to stop.

80% of the GDP by 2019 will be owed.

Can you imagine having 80% of your paycheck go to creditors?

Way to impoverish a nation. And the ones that will suffer most are actually the minorities that are less educated.

Obama is working against the people he wants to protect. This is pretty pathetic to me.

"Reagan taught us that deficits don't count"

-- Dick Cheney

Now we do know that's utter crap but we can thank the far right for doing their fair share to generate the deficit in this country.

Now what would you have done Froggy, just let the financial system collapse? Because if you pay attention you know that the deficit has been created by the spending program to refloat the financial system and declining revenues due to low interest rates.

Why not channel Anastasia Rand and tell us what a Libertarian would do after your ilk managed to trash the world economy. Let us know how you could prime the system without government spending. Or haven't you noticed that stimulus programs (as opposed to TARP) are getting results in Europe and Asia?

Remember, our "stimulus" was budgeted but not appropriated. They are hedging their bets but do give us the benefit of your Randian expertise.

FrogBurger said...

"Now we do know that's utter crap but we can thank the far right for doing their fair share to generate the deficit in this country."

Look at the numbers and come back to me. Bush left a deficit and this wan't good. But Obama is increasing it on a different scale. So please stop your intellectual dishonesty and look at numbers. Especially numbers that jeopardize the economy on the long run vs numbers that Obama could have worked on solving.

"Now what would you have done Froggy, just let the financial system collapse? Because if you pay attention you know that the deficit has been created by the spending program to refloat the financial system and declining revenues due to low interest rates."

Low interest rates and all the bubble started under Clinton, including deregulation.

Yes I would have let things tanked and strongly disagree with Bush on his socialist-like policies at time. Because long term we're losing. It's better to take a big hit sometimes short term to be more viable long term.

Unfortunately in a democracy, politicians make decisions based on votes and therefore short term of the economy, not long term.

Come back to me in 20 years and we'll see how this country looks like.

FrogBurger said...

"Or haven't you noticed that stimulus programs (as opposed to TARP) are getting results in Europe and Asia?"

Oh yeah? Like higher unemployment in France?

Stimuluses have been used since I was born in France and the unemployement is always around 10%. It's been like this since 1976.

So again, stop talking out of your rear end.

FrogBurger said...

About the quote on Reagan.

There is smart and small deficit that doesn't jeopardize the long term health of the economy and dumb deficit.

When you create programs that will stay and will generate waste, it's dumb deficit. Because gov doesn't create productive jobs.

The economy works through productivity gains. It doesn't matter if you employ people to do nothing. What matters is the amount of productivity gains you create. So far gov hasn't proven to be a leader in productivity, especially when profit is deemed as evil.

A deficit that encourages private investment, productivity of capital generates jobs, therefore tax revenues.

I'm not saying that maintaining a deficit is good but there clearly is a difference in how you spend money.

It's fairly basic. The same principle can be applied to oneself. Going into debt to buy a LCD is stupid. But going into debt to get a degree to have more revenue long term and be more productive in your life is not that stupid.

I guess people like you can't comprehend basic economic principles.

Ducky's here said...

Not bad Froggy, at least I'd agree with most of it.

I'm surprised that you're such an adamant Keynesian, though.

And remember, Obama has been a piker. He brought Larry Summers on to continue the financial bail out but he hasn't done a whole lot of investing with the rather limited stimulus.

FrogBurger said...

And I'm glad he hasn't spend the money. Now I just hope he's going to return it to the people via tax breaks. And more than the 7 bucks I'm getting a month.

I don't like Keynes. Even Keynes backtracked on his first theories. The money printing business doesn't work long term. Plus you're creating a bureaucracy that tries to maintain itself in power, wasting more money. Look at France. Almost 50% of the workforce is employed by an administration. 50% when you have 16% of unemployment (I include people without benefits) and 40% of unemployment for people under 25.

Gov should have no role in the economy period, aside from setting rules for healthy competition, fighting monopolies, etc...

Not bad, eh? 3 years of studying economics in one of the best colleges in France kinda helps. Even if I was taught the Marxist theories more than the capitalist ones.

Everyone ought to read Bryan's link "defendglenn"...looks like the left exaggerated a 'tad' about who's pulling ads from Glenn Beck.

Of course, MSNBC has weekends highlighting prison inmates and their tough life inside...or boy prostitutes on the street....! But, they're TRYING to stay alive. After all, Olbermann's great journalism, right?
I love when he gets that squint in his mouth and that pursed mouth when he's slamming O'Reilly (NOT a favorite of MINE, believe me), who beat CBS's Katie Couric's show in June and this month......Trounces CNN all the time..no need to mention MSNBC...it's a silly comparison and that SO ticks off Olbermann that it's worth watching...almost.

Regarding STIMULUS in Europe? Other countries spent FAR FAR FAR less than we're supposed to according to Obama, but Germany put the least, VERY little, tho chided by Obama to comply (he's been dissing Merkel since in very obvious and rude ways, by the way) and they're the country MOST coming out of the European recession....Germany's order intake rose 5% last month alone. They are letting the market fix them and it's working...Gott sei dank.

It was promoted by leftistas. I think I may start watch Keith O and doing transcripts of everything offensive he says and write down his advertisers... I could get a good letter writing campaign going.

When Obama said he didn't have the facts but the Boston police "acted stupidly", he made a judgement, in his opinion and admittedly with no evidence. Beck presented material to make his case and then stated an opinion... Obama hates white people. Who is the "hater" here. Someone who explains why they think facts point to their opinion, or someone armed with no facts calling a policeman "stupid"???

FrogBurger said...

etc?

I can't give you an exhaustive list. You get my point: the gov's job is to make sure the marketplace is "fluid." That's why the Constitution has the Congress making sure interstate trade is facilitated. (Unlike the health insurance market)

This includes the labor market and the minimum wage, which seems like a good idea but backfires on people, especially the less educated. (Thomas Sowell speaks a lot about that and how it backfired against African Americans's middle class.)

That's why France is so messed up. The marketplace is not fluid. High taxes, huge restrictions on the labor market, minimum wage that increases all the time and catches up with regular wages, etc...

There has been lots of talk here about Conservatives vs. Liberal.
Lets look at the picture.
Let us take a look at Ronald Reagan who the left said was the dumbest man ever to hold office. And Bill Clinton who the press said was the smartest man alive married to the smartest woman alive. Look at Ronald Reagans legacy. What is he remembered for? The most important Reagan economic legacy, of course, is the tax rate. When he came into office, federal tax rates reached 70%. As he left, the highest rate in the code was 33%. In foreign policy the Reagan record may prove to be the culmination of a forty-year Western effort to contain the expansion of the Soviet Empire. And he did. The Libs bring up Iran-Contra. This is just proof that they are ignorant to truths of war. In the Cold War as now the U.S. must do things with undesirables for the price of victory. It is useless to explain this to Liberals since they have no concept on how to win a war. Proven by the fact that they are famous for surrendering to the enemy before the fight is even over.

Now lets look at Clintons Legacy. Monica, Monica, oh yeah Monica. Renting out the Lincoln Bedroom. Ushering in the Contract with America, presiding over the deaths of over 800.000 in Rwanda without lifting a finger. Sending Elian back to Cuba. Waco. And doing nothing to prevent a man called Osama Bin Laden from killing Americans around the world. And after knowing where this killers base was. doing nothing to take him out because of the fear that his poll numbers would be where George Bush’s are now. And failing to prevent 9/11, which planning was done under his watch.

This brings us to the liberals next stupid POTUS George Bush. The Liberals claim this guy is dumber than Reagan who beat them at every turn. George Bush beat Al Gore the messiah of the left. The prophet who say’s we have ten years before we are all living in house boats while he burns a carbon footprint that would take 100.000 common Americans to burn a month. He beat John Kerry who has changed his mind every five minutes on Iraq and is such a joke now that Liberals begged him not to run in 08. He has destroyed the Liberal leadership in Congress so bad that the approval rating for that congress is the worst in history 18%.

“If liberals were prevented from ever again calling Republicans dumb, they would be robbed of half their arguments,” Ann Coulter writes. “To be sure they would still have racist, fascist, homophobe, ugly, and a few other highly nuanced arguments in their quiver.” But not having “dumb” to throw around, she says, “would nearly cripple them. Like clockwork, every consequential Republican to come down the pike is instantly, invariably, always, without exception called dumb. “Noting that this is exactly the way six-year-olds argue, that they call everything “stupid,” Coulter says the lefts resort to the “stupid” stratagem comes out of its inability to mount an intelligent counter-argument when faced with undeniable facts.

Liberals especially hate being called “liberal,” because they know it describes a “dastardly individual.” They prefer Progressive for now. So again are Liberals really so dumb that they must refer to their enemies as dumb? I’m waiting for them to say how dumb this sounds.

Frog - I think racism is not limited to a belief that another race is inferior. People seem capable of racism for any number of reasons.

When it comes to racism, no group is exempted, or get's a pass in my book.

Jan said...

Well, Z, (my dearest V) of course Glen Beck should have said that, ande I think it is a shame that he is taking so much heat for saying it..and anything else he says.

His show last night was about Van Jones, the Green Jobs Czar, and I commented on it at another blog.

Here's an excerpt:

I watched the GB show last night, and it was very enlightening. I just don't understand how people get so upset over hearing the truth about someone, especially when the individual is in a position that could have some bearing on an important aspect of our lives.

The thing that should be of concern, is that a czar, such as Van Jones, does not have to come under any scrutiny, and is responsible to no one but President Obama.

Watching this (obviously) racist, arrogant, self-proclaimed activist/communist,Van Jones,in the video clips shown by Mr. Beck, was enough to make my blood run cold, just thinking of what is happening to this country.

My question is, why would Obama even consider putting such a person in any position at all, if, indeed, he is wanting the best for the country that he is now responsible for?

Mr. Beck showed real character in not mentioning that this guy is the driving force behind all the advertisers pulling out of his show.

It seems that if one speaks the truth, especially if it has anything to do with Obama and his administration, he is in dire danger of losing his livlihood--or being driven to distraction by being hassled to death by Obama's defenders.

Btw--the administration must really hold this guy in high esteem, considering that they are using a program that he developed and named before, back when he was still just a 'radical black nationalist.'

You know the one: "Cash for Clunkers."

Good luck to all the car dealers who fell for this one. It could be a very long time before those checks arrive at the dealership. If ever.

Here's a quote from Mr. Jones:

"I met all these young radical people of color - I mean really radical, communists and anarchists. And it was, like, 'This is what I need to be a part of... I spent the next ten years of my life working with a lot of those people I met in jail, trying to be a revolutionary...I was a rowdy nationalist on April 28th, and then the verdicts came down on April 29th..By August, I was a communist."
Anthony Van Jones
East Bay Express Nov 2005

So,Z,I guess when one has spent his entire life surrounded by Marxists,Communists, activists, and terrorists, it shouldn't be a surprise when he fills his administration with many of the same people...so that should explain a lot, and good reason for us to keep questioning everything.

For all the good it does.

Talk about something being 'fishy'...oh, yeah!

Glenn Beck is more effective when he doesn't stretch to be funny, like dressing up in lederhosen to make the point about Obama's appeal to the young and naive to sign up for community service.

He's far from being racist, IMO. If nobody called Obama during the election for playing the race cad when he said that people would have to overcome their prejudices to vote for somebody of a different color or a funny sounding name, how can they pretend that Beck is racist?

Some people think — the rabid supporter of Obama — that if you criticize Obama and are white, that is proof of racism.

Therefore, the natural course of reactions by the left will be an increase in the ad hominem attacks and more straw men will be built. None of the facts being presented in talk radio and FOX News Commentary are being effectively refuted. So, that is all they CAN do.

Bryan, thanks for the excellent link!

Frogburger, go to Bryan's link for just such a list--defendglenn.com

Greywolfe, I have links to both of his books for FREE. Just check my past posts list under the book titles. They are in pdf, or you can google the books by name and find links on your own.

Z, excellent post! Sorry I am so late to the party. I will be passing on that link Bryan left. It is a wealth of information!
