OBAMA: Ramadan and Christmas Messages

COMPARE AND CONTRAST!?

The White House Office of the Press Secretary -
For Immediate Release August 11, 2010

Statement by the President on the Occasion of Ramadan

On behalf of the American people, Michelle and I want to extend our best wishes to Muslims in America and around the world. Ramadan Kareem.

Ramadan is a time when Muslims around the world reflect upon the wisdom and guidance that comes with faith, and the responsibility that human beings have to one another, and to God. This is a time when families gather, friends host iftars, and meals are shared. But Ramadan is also a time of intense devotion and reflection – a time when Muslims fast during the day and pray during the night; when Muslims provide support to others to advance opportunity and prosperity for people everywhere. For all of us must remember that the world we want to build – and the changes that we want to make – must begin in our own hearts, and our own communities.

These rituals remind us of the principles that we hold in common, and Islam’s role in advancing justice, progress, tolerance, and the dignity of all human beings. Ramadan is a celebration of a faith known for great diversity and racial equality. And here in the United States, Ramadan is a reminder that Islam has always been part of America and that American Muslims have made extraordinary contributions to our country. And today, I want to extend my best wishes to the 1.5 billion Muslims around the world – and your families and friends – as you welcome the beginning of Ramadan.

I look forward to hosting an Iftar dinner celebrating Ramadan here at the White House later this week, and wish you a blessed month. May God’s peace be upon you. (Z: and then, of course, you've all heard he's backing the NYC mosque now....man)

In contrast, here is THE 2009 CHRISTMAS MESSAGE from the President and Mrs Obama........the rest of it, HERE, is about our servicemen being away and what a tough time they and their families are going through, and the recession, etc.

PRESIDENT: Hello everyone, and Merry Christmas. As you and your families gather to celebrate the holidays, we wanted to take a moment to send greetings from our family—from me, from Michelle, from Malia and Sasha—and from Bo.

FIRST LADY: This is our first Christmas in the White House, and we are so grateful for this extraordinary experience. Not far from here, in the Blue Room, is the official White House Christmas Tree. It’s an 18-foot tall Douglas-fir from West Virginia and it’s decorated with hundreds of ornaments designed by people and children from all over the country. Each one is a reminder of the traditions we cherish as Americans and the blessings we’re thankful for this holiday season.

PRESIDENT: That’s right, especially as we continue to recover from an extraordinary recession that still has so many Americans hurting: parents without a job who struggled to put presents under the Christmas tree; families and neighbors who’ve seen their home foreclosed; folks wondering what the new year will bring.

But even in these tough times, there’s still so much to celebrate this Christmas. A message of peace and brotherhood that continues to inspire more than 2,000 after Jesus’ birth. The love of family and friends. The bonds of community and country. And the character and courage of our men and women in uniform who are far from home for the holidays, away from their families, risking their lives to protect ours.

Z: Quite a contrast, isn't it. Such celebration of Islam and such wonderful attributes associated to it! Well, we have 2000 years of Jesus mentioned, that's something. WOW. You know, come to think of it, this really kind of breaks my heart.

Synchronicity!

I just put up a bit of a parsing about BHO's Ramadan messages. By "messages" I mean his endorsement last night of the Ground Zero Mosque and his official Ramadan statement earlier in the week.

Oh, man, this guy. 2012 can't get here soon enough. I sure hope all the people who voted for him realize what they have done.

My heart is heavy for our country!

It is getting harder and harder to think he is not a Muslim. At the very least he is closely aligned with Islam.

All I can say is GRRRRRR!

FrogBurger said...

The guy's a closet muslim. There's no doubt about it in my mind.

Z said...

The difference in the two messages was staggering to me....SO loving and informative and exaggerated about the wonders of islam...and Jesus gets a tiny mention for Christmas. I got the Ramadan message from our buddy Mustang via email, then wondered what Obama'd said for Christmas and, voila. not much.
Here's the problem: He probably feels it's important to reach out to everyone and that saying too much about Christmas might be hurtful to some. WHY wouldn't he and whichever of his advisers who write these things for him feel it might be hurtful to Christians when he waxes so eloquently and in such detail and 'wonder' about RAMADAN?
Does he think people won't hear the Ramadan message?

Joe said...

Well, I wasn't listening, I can tell you that. I already knew where he stands, and it is not with Christ.

Words fail me when I'm spitting mad!

I'm not sure I recall a time when Obama invoked "God" on behalf of any other religious festival or celebration.

Did you guys see the chaos in Atlanta over housing subsidies?

We're definitely entering a new age. An age where America is a banana republic.

In the meantime this rascal of president we have is saying the Republicans are trying to destroy Social Security.

I'm really pissed off this morning.

Really.

Z said...

Joe, certainly not.

Cube, I felt near tears..it's almost scary, isn't it? Imagine ANY American president giving these two messages and the media not seeing the astonishing difference..but, of course, they can't say anything because it would seem NONINCLUSIVE :-) So, Americans aren't seeing this juxtaposition, are they.

Mustang, I was surprised he mentioned Jesus in this pitiful excuse for a CHRISTMAS MESSAGE.

FrogBurger, I don't know about the Atlanta subsidies...tell me .

As for the SOCIAL SECURITY scare, we're only just gearing up for the smears of the Dems on the Reps; they'll have to pull out EVERY STOP before November and SCARING AMERICANS with LIES is what's going to be happening.

Calling us RACIST didn't fly too high, Americans know better; But hit them in their Social Security pocket and they won't like it...

Notice that Obama's blaming Bush by name again...(something no other sitting pres has ever done, by the way, just as a matter of dignity and decorum and decency)...
I heard some talking head say he has to mention Bush by name now because Americans are turning to Republicans again and feeling comfortable with that choice BUT if you say BUSH, they turn and run again because the media'd done such a hatchet job on HIM, blaming EVERYTHING on him...remember when Obama talked about giving the keys to your car to your kid, suggesting that Republicans can't be trusted? That's ALL about BUSH and "you know what happened THEN!" (never mind that even the jerks at FOX won't remind people it was the Democrat congress which pushed so many liberal policies through Bush)

We think Obama's not very smart, at least I do, but his handlers are; we have to remember that.

Z said...

FrogBurger...it looked AWFUL! The coverage was shocking to me, too...
What do you think about it? You don't believe in subsidies, DO YOU?

FrogBurger said...

No I don't and that's why I'm really pissed off today.

I'm working, I pay taxes, I didn't buy a home b/c it was insane from a financial standpoint, I have no debt, my car is paid off and is old.

And I have to pay for irresponsible, sometimes lazy people.

I am sick and tired of it.

This feels more like France every day.

Z said...

I sure didn't THINK you did!
Did you see the sympathy of Ed and the correspondent? I thought I wasn't hearing correctly. They're, in effect, blaming US for that?

I have sympathies for those who need help with the rent, we've all been in that position and I'd sure like to pay less mortgage!!!, but this smacks of something much more than that ... the way that jerk Ed said something about it looking like a Third World Country...some phrase like that, REALLY got on my nerves.

FrogBurger said...

I have sympathies for those who need help with the rent, we've all been in that position and I'd sure like to pay less mortgage!!!

I feel for them but I am firmly opposed to government subsidies. Period.

Your mortgage is high because of CA regulations and a fake market sustained by government policies.

And now they want to use subsidies. They're actually talking about no interest loans up to 50k to unemployed people.

Again I'm the idiot. I feel like an idiot for living a conservative, thrifty lifestyle.

God I'm pissed. I need to throw plates or something :)

Are we soon to see the unveiling of the final Antichrist? We certainly have an antichrist in the American Presidency, but is another to emerge, or will this one become fully possessed by the devil and rise to the position? A perfunctory kiss on the cheek of American Christians while he sells us out to the enemy and off we go.

Islam is where Obama's roots lie. I believe he is a muslim.

It's clear to me he feels an obligation to Islam that he doesn't feel toward Christianity. I don't care what he says to minimize his image regarding Islam.

It's obvious to me. We the taxpayers paid for that Imam's trip to the middle east, no doubt so he could get backing for that mosque.
The subterfuge is a little too transparent to hide it.

FB, I saw that awful spectacle in Atlanta this morning. Indeed it put me in mind of a Banana Republic as well. No doubt that image will be seen around the world. Such an embarrassment for America. It breaks my heart to see what the left is doing to this country.

Now home ownership has become a right subsidised by the taxpayers. Fannie and Freddie are involved in 90% of the mortgages in this country. This means the government controls those homeowners and their mortgages.

What the government gives, it can take away. Homeowners are beholden to the government for their shelter and we pay the bill.

All of this is unsustainable. At some point, there will be a collapse I think, the likes of which we have never seen.

As Margaret Thatcher put it, "sooner or later, you run out of other people's money".

You're not an idiot, FB. You have your self respect, which is priceless.

Sounds like President Obama has set his clock to the "new" Royal Mecca Time, which came into effect just yesterday. That's the idea that Greenwich mean time needs to be replaced by a new measurement of time — about three hours behind GMT.

The new clock tower and face in Mecca in Meca is several times larger than the tower and clock used to mark GMT. The tower in Mecca can be seen for a 30 mile radius and will be lit five times per day to call the "submissive faithful" to prayer. Sounds like they are ready to roll out the project in a big way ... right into NYC and onward from there. Mayor Bloomberg must be on board with this idea since he considers expanding the power of Islamic tyranny to be an issue of "freedom of religion". It's not it's about enslavement and submission, IMO.

Now, I wonder why they aren't concerned about being de-throned...hmmm. Gee, you don't think something might happen to postpone those elections, do you? I'm pretty sure Zero dreams of declaring martial law.

As for the mosque, well, what do you expect when the "president" is an America-hating racist communist Muslim? And to think I didn't believe I could loathe anyone who voted for him and still backs him any more than I already do.

Check that out (before eating, please)...
Obama's on about how REPUBLICANS don't want this mosque...when, as blogger buddy Mustang points out, the Dem gov of NY wanted the mosque moved!! My liberal NYC cousin says NO ONE SHE KNOWS wants that mosque there...Is Mr. Obama out of touch or is this yet another campaign speech to screw Republicans?

I'm SO TIRED of being branded as RACIST and HOMOPHOBE and XENOPHOBE by a left that's so glaringly LYING.

From the link: "he told the gathering that included Muslim and other religious leaders that blocking the mosque, as some leading Republicans have angrily demanded, would undermine the country's claim to respect the free practice of religious expression.
MORE:
"That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in Lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances," he continued. "This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakeable."

Really, Obama..? What Republican do YOU know who denies THAT? (#$&@*(#$&*(@$&*(@#$&

z - It's not about religion, it's about government.

The president is not a pastor.

Z said...

Sue, I don't think he's an Imam, either, is he?
My point is the tremendous difference between his Ramadan address and the Christmas message...that's all.
It's ALL about government...and a president should also put the faith of the majority of Americans first, as well.

sue said...

Z - I guess that's my point. That the president doesn't have to put faith anywhere. He needs to use his own faith to guide him, but he is not the spiritual leader of the people and they should not depend on that.

Z said...

Sue, so you're saying you'd prefer he give no message for any holiday?

sue said...

Z - Did you hear me say that I thought he should not give a Christmas message?

I just think that this is all about Obama. Any little or big thing that can be drudged up - is.

Look at it this way. In November there will only be two more years until the re-election. Why don't the Republicans spend their energy
finding a good candidate. With Obama's low approval rating ( and now Michelle's low approval rating), he is beatable. Unless he cleans up his act, he is likely to be out of there.

Would you object to a Morman - Mitt. They say he's got the money and it the likely candidate.

sue said...

Z - I can't wait for things to heat up for the elections.

I'm sure you've heard the theory that Obama should dump Biden and have Hillary run as vp. Bill O'Reilly says that won't happen.

Coward....despicable coward is all he is. If Christians were out murdering people, waging terrorism all over the planet...this POS would be bowing down to them in his best "Rodney King" mode. So his sniveling fawning statement to these 7th century mutts waging 21st century war is nothing but appeasement.

I think we'll see a day when he'll have to keep us from the gates, soon.

It definetly is not out of the realm of possibilities. It just depends on how much you're willing to give up...and how much of a stand and a stink you'll want to make to keep your freedoms.

Bambi....makes me want to vomit whenever his mealy mouth is open.

Z said...

sue...nobody has to dredge up anything, he just hands them to America for criticism.. Personally, I think the juxtaposition of these two messages is staggering and it's fine that it doesn't bother you.

I don't think Biden would EVER step down or allow himself to be pushed out, but maybe if he was threatened he would. O'Reilly thinks Hillary's ego's too big for VP, what do you think?

They're going to heat up, alright, but I can't imagine what they have next for Republicans:
First they tried RACIST and that didn't go as far as it might have if Americans didn't understand we're NOT racist.
Today it was "Republicans want to stop social security!!"
I can only imagine what will be pulled out next or in late October and I don't look forward to it.
I'll probably also take a sleeping pill or something the night of the election; it's a little TOO exciting for me!! Too much riding on it.

I don't know who the Republicans will run in 2012 but I hope it's somebody like Paul Ryan.
I don't mind Mitt Romney, but there's been a bit of a weird push by Mormons lately in advertisements (VERY weird) and Glenn Beck's been suddenly mentioning it (he is a Mormon), too. I have no problem with Mormons, per se, I have a problem who believe in anything not in the Bible.....
but, I don't want to get into that too much here!

Many of you are speaking of Muslims as if they are not americans... you say to yourself, the people who brought the towers down were muslims so islam and anything associated with islam is responsible. You forget that innocent muslims were also on those planes, were also among the brave firemen who lost there lives, were also among those who grieved for their loved ones, and are also among those who are loosing their lives in the war on terror.

Nevertheless, some people have associated the 9/11 events with all musliims. It is truly odd that you see those responsible as muslims rather then terrorist. Think to yourself why you see the KKK as racist terrorists rather then christian terrorists. It may be that the majority of americans are christians, and they know it would be insane to identify their religion with the KKK. Likewise muslims know that the terrorists do not represent there religion. It also may be that the media uses terms like"muslim terrorist" to describe these terrorists. Unfortunetly, this causes many to absurdly identify the word muslim with terrorism. Do not take the actions of 0.000000019% of muslims to represent all 1,000,000,000 muslims around the world!

Re: That video. Speaking as one who has lived in public housing, this doesn't surprise me.

These people have an entitlement mentality fostered by Liberal policies. They have reached the point where any and everything they get is handed to them by the government, and they expect no less.

Oh, the stories I can tell!

I was forced into public housing by a Democratic administration's economic policies and only stayed there until I could get back on my feet and as soon as I could afford to, I got up and out of there.

Welfare was a good idea, but it was originally intended to be a hand up, not a hand out.

Unfortunately, Liberals, as they have many things, have usurped the good intentions of well-meaning but naive government officials, and created the entitlement mentality now employed by millions of welfare recipients nationwide.

Sorry about the rant. I know it's off-topic, but just seeing these deadbeats all around me everyday just makes my blood boil.

"Do not take the actions of 0.000000019% of muslims to represent all 1,000,000,000 muslims around the world!"

""We do not worship Iran, we worship Allah. For patriotism is another name for paganism. I say let this land burn. I say let this land go up in smoke, provided Islam emerges triumphant in the rest of the world."

That equates to about 150,000,000 "soldiers of allah" dipstick. All ready and willing to see that the statement above comes true. That's bigger than any army on earth. And they want to use it.

The only other counter to that army would be Christian soldiers just as they were long ago who turned back the savages in Europe. In this country alone that might be about 100,000,000 strong.

"It is truly odd that you see those responsible as muslims rather then terrorist."

What's odd is you don't realize that all terrorism has been the work of muslims not norwegians or christians.

Get help....soon.

Last night I watched a special on honor killing in America. This is an abomination condoned, and commanded by the Islamic faith.

Are we next to be asked that we tolerate that as well? Will that fall under the umbrella of "freedom of religion"?

If the line is not drawn at the enforcement of our laws, where will this all end?

Is it not unacceptable that such a horrible practice as honor killing may be taught and accepted in muslim mosques?

If indeed, this is seen by muslims who live in the West, as a right given them through their religion, then for me, they are not welcome here. Now, or ever.

Pris

"If indeed, this is seen by muslims who live in the West, as a right given them through their religion..."

Well said Prisc. But we don't see muslims protesting these despicable practices do we? Only the very few do...the Bridgette Gabriels, the Joe Kaufmans, Geert Wilders and Robert Spencers of the world. Too few in my opinion.

If past history is any indicator we'll surely rise up when another "Pearl Harbor" is inflicted upon this country right? Oh...that's already happened, didn't it?

I thank these lousy muslims for awakening us to their intolerance, their desire for conquest and their open hostility towards our way of life. Just as the French have seen the light and just might be on their way to expelling these animals cause they've apparently had enough...it'll be our turn soon enough.

We don't want their shitty sharia...we don't want their cordoba house....we don't want their customs...we're seething and deep down I think chomping at the bit to get rid of their phony "religion" masquerading as a war machine and a political ideology that means and says....death to America.

So all this phony, lying posturing about "freedom of religion", tolerance is for the stupid masses and pols that get their "pulse" on America from "O, We and People".

Happy Ramadingdong.

Yes Z, he's probably in the middle east as we speak. His son doesn't sound any better, he sides with his father. The wife has lost all her children.

Not long ago a muslim man who's wife had divorced him, raped her whenever the mood struck him, and the judge let him go based on the defendant's argument, that it was his right according to his religion.

I don't know about anyone else, but if our courts are going to tolerate this crap, I want these people gone. Since when are people's religious beliefs acceptable as a defense in a court of law?

Genocide, mutilation and the murder of "non believers" ( non Aryian ) Jews, Christians, Hindus et al. Fascism is Fascism...just a different face in a different time. 65 years ago we would have obliterated this ideology immediately as it espouses the same goals and ideology of the Nazis.

Correct me if I'm wrong....we've been lied to about this fascist, murderous cult. Are we that stupid to not see the similarities?

Z - Bill O'Reilly did in fact say that it was not going to happen - about Hillary replacing Biden for VP.

I also heard someone say - I believe on CNN, I don't know who it was - that Hillary would not need to jump off from the vp spot to run for pres. She could do it on her own - if she so wanted to.

Z said...

Sue, I'm hearing that Hillary COULD do just that in 2012, make a bid for the presidency against Obama's wishes for a second term.
You a bigger Hillary supporter than an Obama supporter, if you don't mind my asking?

sue said...

Z - Hlllary would never do that - run against the incumbent president.

Yes, I respect Hillary. I felt she worked so hard in competing against the men. And I would have liked to see her become the first woman president. Now there is no one who could do that.

But when Obama got the nomination,
I supported him.

Also at the time, I felt, as many did, that Hillary had 'too much baggage.' Since then I have gained even more respect for her.

But I would not approve of her running against Obama. Has that ever been done? Not that I can remember.

Z said...

I haven't heard of it being done but I'm hearing a little about that...I'll let you know next time I hear any hint of that.
I do remember some people talking about Bill Clinton and his suddenly going against Obama on some of his stances and the conjecture was that he's starting to make inroads for Hillary..it's all very interesting.

You and I sure don't agree on much politically...I've lost whatever respect for Hillary I had since her new position!

sue said...

Z - I'm used to being around people that I don't agree with politically. I've told you this before - my husband, daughters, sons-in-law and friends. The best way to handle that when you are close to people is to not talk about it. I'm going to lunch with a friend on Tuesday who is what I call the 'religious' political conservative. I have to try really hard not to mention politics. But sometimes when I do, we get along pretty well. Sometimes things get a little testy.

But we are all Americans, so we should be able to communicate in spite of this.

sue said...

Z - I'm not surprised to hear that you do not respect Hillary. I try to remember that the side we are on politically pretty much determines who we like or not - not only on a national level but sometimes personally too.

Z said...

Ya, personally, too, but I think I'd like some Dems...like Vicki Kennedy...or Jill Biden...I might like Hillary as a woman, too, in a social setting; but I resent some of what she's done so, for me, it's hard to put that aside. Also, I didn't respect her having a 'shower' when she bought the Georgetown condo...registering for lovely furniture and china, etc..I thought that was weird. But, I guess everyone does weird things from time to time!

yes, we should be able to communicate in spite of politics.

Did you hear some people are trying to get Vicki Kennedy to run for Scott Brown's seat?

sue said...

When is it that Scott Brown's seat is - how do you say - expired. I am leery of wives or other relatives taking the seat of a deceased person when they haven't been in politics.

That is like teaching piano lessons. You don't have to be qualified to do it, and I think you should be qualifed in politics and not just step in because you've discussed issues at dinner.

sue said...

z - I'm hangin' it up now. It's later here!
