Can't go to the PROM?

Anybody want to take a stab on why the media would be talking about this story?

Yahoo finds it newsworthy that one kid in America whose Christian high school told him he can't go to a prom outside their school is breaking the agreement he'd signed? One child, one church's extreme view of rock 'n roll, and it's worthwhile leaving on the Yahoo Home Page most of the morning?

I'm thinking muslim schools don't allow their children to participate in behavior they don't deem fit, either. Haven't seen an article yet on that, have you?

Just curious.....seems like this country's going through a lot and this story shouldn't be so important, unless 'innocently' bringing up stories like this isn't quite so innocent?

Wanda Sykes trumps this one.

I think folks were curious about the school rule that said you could go to another prom with the principal's signed permission.
So you get the signature and then they threaten you with expulsion.

I think it's why you send your kids to a private school. They have their rules. If you don't like them you take them to another school.

One time a co-worker of mine was pissed that a private school had a rule that said that kids affiliated with a gang in the past year could not be enrolled. I said that's why it's called a private school. Get over it.

While the private school certainly has the right to have such a silly rule and the right to enforce it, the media's excessive attention to it is far sillier. I was wondering the same thing when I first read it as the lead story in Yahoo news. I couldn't believe there is nothing more significant to report on.

Of course, because it has to do with Christianity and it's the media job to portray ALL Christians as drooling mouth breathers.

BZ is right........
Shoprat, that's why I posted, you had the same instinct, too.

The principal went back on his word. He was wrong. ONE KID was told he's in trouble for dancing and Christianity suddenly sounds worse than the many restrictions of islam. AND, meanwhile:

Obama is asking military to keep their yaps shut, making them SIGN to cement that agreement,
He's nationalizing companies

He's as lax as Bush on the fence,

He's allowing late term abortion

He's got qualifications for the SCOTUS which make the LITMUS TEST Bush was warned about sound constitutional..

he's trying to form a Civilian corps because he apparently doesn't know what the Nat'l Guard does.. etc etc

And THIS is what our media writes on.
I'd give anything for Woodward and Bernstein...except they'd be censored today. Dayum

FJ, you can't mention (be still, my heart) Kevin Bacon without a linked picture. Sorry.

Mr. Ducky...Wanda Sykes does not Trump anything!

The media love stories like this. They love to paint Christians as intolerant any chance they get.

I agree with Elbro. Don't expect the school to change it's rules, find a Christian School which fits your beliefs. Most Christians btw, dance.

I have a liberal relative who told me she doesn't judge people. I told her, "well I guess that's true, with the exceptions of Christians, Republicans, and smokers, you don't". Her answer was...........silence!
It wouldn't surprise me if she's added the obese to the list by now.

Those in the media and on the left, who are so self-righteous are just like my relative, their biases are acceptable, don'tcha know.

my kids go to a private school, yet I'm often left wondering where they are different from the public secular schools. Forbidden rock music is kind of silly, but an insistance on chaste behavior for high schoolers would not seem to be such a tough expectation from either. There is the not-so-hidden agenda of Christian bashing here though which is very telling.

DaBlade, can you imagine we live in a world where telling teens to wait to have sex is frowned upon? MAN.

I found another link on this story at Arkansasmatters.com. It was under the heading, "Weird News Story." Hmmm.

According to the article: The boy's father is planning a lawsuit, the boy will appear on The Early Show, and has been asked to appear on Inside Edition and Primetime. Hmmm.

Maybe it is weird to today's society for an institution to establish moral or protective guidelines for those who willing chose to be under their watch and care for a season. Hmmm.

All together now...Hmmm.

Let's see:

Private schools are private and can make any rule they like.

Private school makes a rule.

MSM thinks private school is rigid.

Tries to shame private school into changing the rule.

Private school gives in.

FRONT PAGE NEWS!

Duhhhhh!

Shalom Z! I was wondering why my picture was posted by Elbro's Brother above this article, then upon closer inspection I saw it was a picture of Kevin Bacon. LOL!
Great article, and I think you do a great job of seeing through the smokescreen and getting to the heart of the matter!

Jungle Mom, EXACTLY....no discourse or Early Show appearances for muslims who demand foot washing in school bathroom sinks...
odd?

Just another opportunity to tar and smear Christianity Z. besides if the lefties dared to publish something like this about muslims, they'd be rioting and all that. Lefties have no balls for those that will fight back.

Muslim children have been attending state schools for tha last 60 years. They have been suffering from Paki-bashing and bullying. Majority of them have been leaving schools with low grades. They have been leaving schools without learning their cultural and linguistic skiils. The result is that they do not know where they belong. They suffer from Identity crises. Now Muslim youths are victim of terrorism. Thousands of them are being searched in streets and hundreds of them are behind the bar without any trial.

Bilingual Muslim children need state funded Muslim schools with bilingual Muslim teachers as role models during their developmental periods. There is no place for a non-Muslim child or a teacher in a Muslim school.

There are hundreds of state and church schools where Muslim children are in majority. In my opinion, all such schools may be designated as Muslim community schools.

Bilingual Muslim children need to learn and be well versed in standard English to follow the National Curriculum and go for higher studies and research to serve humanity. At the same time, they need to learn and be well versed in Arabic, Urdu and other community languages to keep in touch with their cultural roots and enjoy the beauty of their literature and poetry.

A Muslim is a citizen of this tiny global village. He/she does not want to become notorioulsy monolingul Brit.

Do you spend your days looking for any mention of islam and schools on the internet!?? I've seen you comment at other articles like this one.
I stand by my opinion. It's time Americans started better championing our wonderful Judeo Christian values more than championing a people who don't promote free will and modern values.
Why would any muslim come to a country which he doesn't think reflects his values and then complain like so many of you do that you're not treated as you'd be treated in an islamic country!? I would have thought you would feel more comfortable in the midst of mostly muslims.
Also, I'm hoping that your people start marching against the terror perpetrated on the Judeo Christian world by your extremists. I have not seen that yet but I remain hopeful and prayerful.
