Good one Z! AS much as I enjoyed that, ughh...are we ever in trouble.

After getting up this morning and seeing the "death of Neda" video from Iran, at least I am leaving for work with a smile (albeit crooked) on my face. Thanks for posting yet ANOTHER great post that I need to put on my blog.

Keep 'em coming...and have a great Monday!

Well, right or left, I never see any criticism of the buttheads who actually watch this crap.

Never mind the fans of Glenn Beck or Rush the vulgar Pigboy.

If we had anything as a nation we'd demand more news, more hard news instead of this moronic squabble about whether this dumbed down tripe on our media is left or right.

We are a sorry people.

Z said...

Glad you all had a good laugh, too....thanks for the hat tips....use away, more and more people need to be reminded and demand real news again.

Ducky, I'm leaving your very nasty comment up because that's the point.
Do you understand this is not about left/right and all of us want REAL NEWS? I got spoiled having lived in Europe and seeing that they don't editorialize like our NYTimes, LA Times, etc. in their front page stories. Even today, Mr. Z will say "They mention 'so and so' in the German paper" and I'll say "OH, really, what's their take on it!?"
"No take, just the facts"...
I keep forgetting because we're so dishonest now here.

We've never had a president SO upset at a station for not fawning over him like FOX doesn't (except Shepard Smith and Geraldo Rivera, of course, and a few others) that he actually whines about it.
Some say this is because the REST of the media's so in the bag for him and he figures if he rags loud enough about "FOX DOESN'T LIKE ME", people won't understand that that's the ONLY station who doesn't slobber over him and he's making a smoke screen. He's very clever, isn't he?

We have no real news anymore; You going to blame the Right for this?

And, again, why in the world are you so upset? Things are going your way...America's sinking into a debt-filled, nonsustainable socialism only you could love, wassup? The more you get the angrier you're sounding.

Ducky's here said...

Yeah, that's correct, z. People are in the streets in Iran dying and the right is complaining there was a puff piece somewhere about Obama going for an ice cream.

If you think Fox news is thorough investigative journalism, then fine. Watch it and let the rest of us find news where we can.

What you object to is the hard right sensationalist Fox being criticized.

And tell Mr. Z that he isn't the only one who reads the foreign press. Lot of lefties do.

The fact remains that we stopped demanding hard news in America and let our news rooms become a division of the entertainment media.

Of course if someone like Bill Moyers is doing the reporting then you'll be the first one in line saying it isn't sufficiently conservative since in the right wing world:
1. Criticism can't be tolerated

2. Only a completely right wing point of view can be correct.

We are being dumbed down to the point of no return.

Z said...

Ducky, you're joking, right?

You STILL can't admit how 'in the bag' your media is for THE ONE? Are you kidding? Do you think that's healthy? And you think that's a problem of the Right?!

Why are you so defensive? Mr. Z never said he had the corner on reading international news!! My gosh. I quote him because I'm making a point......why's that bug you so much?

Re: the ice cream trip? It happened while Iran's falling apart and everyone was perceiving Obama as not paying attention because he'd not come out forcefully enough for some.
It's like when Hillary conceded to him before the nomination and he went to play golf.
It's like taking his wife on a very expensive date on our nickel just as really bad economy numbers had come out.

PERCEPTION,'s bad enough he's ruining America, at least let him LOOK like he cares?

So cite some examples? Maybe a fact or two supported by evidence? The only real truth is found by digging and not relying on the MSM. But of course your first comment reflects your usage of the Saul Alinsky playbook rather than relying on facts to support your points. Same ole, same ole.

Ducky's here said...

I never see editorials on the front page.

I maintain that what you want is a front page that agrees with your MINORITY opinion. Something that blocks the Bill Moyers of the profession.

I've heard and read plenty about Iran and when you say that Obama has not been "forceful enough" you beg a question and pretty much support my position that you don't want reporting. You want lap dogs reprinting your point of view.

Misfit410 said...

Ducky, this is where you need to educate us on where the mental giants such as yourself go for "Real News", let me guess... the New York times?

They covered up for both Stalin and Hitler, Obama's going to be a cakewalk for them.

Ducky's here said...

Well misfit, I still think magazines are your best source. Subscribe as you see fit. I don't expect you to be reading The New York Review of Books any time soon but suit yourself.

Interesting that you bring up the New York Times. Standard knee jerk right wing response which indicates you aren't into this too deeply.

I try a few sources.

International Herald Tribune

Sydney Morning Herald

La Monde

Christian Science Monitor

.... there are quality sources out there. I just think that 80% of American TV reporting is a waste of time and PBS, which the right has tried to destroy, does the best in a limited group.

Ducky's here said...

Give it a try, Misfit. Very good source of interesting news.

Try terrifying to anyone with any integrity at all and more than three functioning braincells.

Ducky's here said...

Oh and misfit about the Times.

They were instrumental through "Jailhouse" Judith Miller in publishing the propaganda feeds from "Curveball", aka Ahmed Chalabi which conned the right into believing Hussein with no army, no navy, no missiles, no air force, no artillery and no armor represented a serious threat. Now if that is an example of "liberal" reporting I don't know what you consider conservative.

Ducky's here said...

oh, z, one thing I got when I scanned my old analog TV set through the converter box is this strange channel that broadcasts the German news in English and sometimes German along with equestrian competitions. Just show jumping and dressage, no eventing.

The news is similar to a PBS format but I like the dressage best.

Misfit410 said...

Because Osama Bin Laden with No Armor, No Army, No Guns, No Bombs, No Bullets, No Navy, No Airforce was no threat at all.

Ducky's here said...

I'm talking about Iraq, misfit.

Ducky's here said...

Here's an example Hoosier there are certainly more.

That's a good one. And so painfully true.

With a nod and a wink to FJ and Misfit -

The consolidation of television broadcasting into digital formats makes shutting down the media clowns easier for those who REALLY want to ;)

Oh wait, I forgot. Parts for makshift Katyusha rockets are only available at Palestinian Wal-Marts... /smirk

The joke IS on us -- that is to clarify, the REST of the ignorant electorate that voted in an empty but compellingly-emotive Empty Suit. The only bright point on the horizon is that, even now, even with only roughly 6 months in office he's starting to acquire dissension and blowback.

These people really, I am convinced, have no possible idea of the words BILLION or TRILLION. They are just that: words that cross the tongue.

Ducky, VERY good try.
Sadly, the IHT is SOLELY owned now by the NYTimes. Surprise.

Of course we shouldn't have ANY slant on the front pages. Do you understand when I said "Mr. Z tells me what the front pages in Germany or France are saying and there's no SLANT"? NONE, Ducky. They say the WHO WHAT WHEN WHERE AND WHY...nobody CARES what their reporter thinks.
Our reporters are now celebrities and that's WRONG. Even the silliest story has bylines now...we used to never give bylines except to known writers of some prestige and experience, you know that.
Today, a cat caught in a tree story gets "..that story was reported on by Joe Smith" WHO CARES?

By the way, Hussein told the whole world, not just the RIGHT, that he was a should read more about the UN and sanctions and how all the leftwingers believed the ridiculous intel, too.

Ducky, we love to watch the German equestrian stuff...have seen that, thanks.

Thanks, everyone..glad you enjoyed the video.

BZ, you're so right. People are sleeping, accepting CNN and MSNBC as truth.

HEY EVERYBODY: HOw is it that even THE ONE slams Rush Limbaugh and Hannity for "bias and hyperbole", etc etc....but nobody reminds them of KEITH OLBERMANN and RACHEL MADDOW and AL FRANKEN and JEANINE GARAFALO? (although sometimes Maddow actually, in spite of her leanings, shows some fairness)

I mean, IS there a man uglier or nastier than Olbermann? Rush doesn't come CLOSE. At least Rush has humor.

Ducky's here said...

So what? It's still a good news source.

... and just what constitutes a "slant". How do you differentiate a "slant" from a position that disagrees with yours?

Anonymous said...

Love the video!! It put a huge grin on my face.

Z said...

Ducky, please, you know real journalism, especially if you read international papers in their languages, as you infer.

The NEWS slant. No subtle inferences as Yahoo's Home page constantly has, as the NYtimes constantly has, etc.
I TOLD YOU...WHO WHAT WHERE WHEN AND WHY..that's what our journalists used to be taught. Now it's Those PLUS "And what you feel Americans should hear."

YOU don't notice because you're ON that same page. It works both ways.

Ducky's here said...

I see , z. So we should settle for Fox or the Reverend Moon owned Washington Times because they have no "slant"?

It's pretty damn difficult to be completely slant free. Everyone has a point of view which requires self awareness but this idea that the American media has some kind of "liberal" slant virtually defines you as a reactionary, way right of center.

Z said...

Ya, Ducky, BIG MOON fan here.

sure.'s like you're deliberately being obtuse which isn't like you.

Or maybe we're all just that jaded.

I'm tired of the fight. we're all putting ideology in front of this country and that has to stop. And I sure don't want it here.

But, if we can't agree that there's bias in the media, then where do we go from here?
I'm not saying the Right's any better....I'm just saying it's tiresome to constantly hear even OUR PRESIDENT insult the Right when his own Left is AS biased and prejudiced...and more, in my opinion/ or let's say there sure is more OF it.

I believe my point's best made in my comparing Rush to Olbermann.

Ducky's here said...

I wish Vorwarts had an online English edition, z. I'd definitely check it out.

Things have never really been the same since L'Unita stopped publishing but yeah, they were a little slanted.

Z said...

Ya, Ducky. Unbiased reporting! :-)

I'm afraid I just have a generic comment:

I've always thought that this song is so beautiful - and meaningful.

Z said...

Sue, good point.
When I sang jazz, mostly with 3 other women, at small clubs in and outside LA, we often did this one.
incredible four part harmony which swelled with "Just when I'd stopped opening doors,
Finally knowing the one that I wanted was yours.."

This line always gets to me "I thought that you'd want what I want.Sorry, my dear."

Frankly, I started singing it thinking it was corny, but the more we did it, the more I liked it.
It's a crowd pleaser, for sure.
Thanks for the reminder!

Leticia, I just saw it at Sparks from the Anvil's was almost too much to see.
I figured we all need to see what happened to that poor beautiful girl...her dad's grief is almost too much to bear.
I just had to comment there that I HOPE she died instantaneously when the bullet hit, in her throat..and silenced her dissent forever...
ANd Neda means "VOICE".....
Poor girl.
