HEAVY LOSSES FOR SOCIALISTS IN GERMANY! The heaviest since WWII...why this is good for US, too

A win which could definitely bode well for America in 2010, too...and 2012.
They did NOT bow to the Al Qaeda threats they were receiving about "you'd better not vote for anybody who'd keep Germans in Afghanistan or you'll have terrorist attacks" Germans spoke back. They did NOT follow Obama's stimulus advice, they're thriving....the coalition won on LOWERING TAXES.
FROM MR Z:The conservatives (CDU/CSU) won the elections in Germany, and will enter into talks about a coalition with their desired coalition partner, FDP (centrist party), as of tomorrow. Together, they will have a solid majority in the newly elected Parliament of Germany. The big loser of the elections was the SPD (socialists) which was voted out of their role as junior partner in the government by dropping more than 10% to a historical low.
Noticeable is the rise of “Die Linke”, the communists, which still benefit from voters in East Germany – it will take another generation to adjust for the remnants of the communist regime.Z: You've got to see now how right my frequent criticism of Yahoo has been; Here's today's headline: Merkel CLAIMS Victory in Germany. Um, she DID get victory, Yahoo. It's a subtle thing, but...They're hating it at Yahoo......check THIS out. How's about MERKEL VICTORIOUS IN GERMANY? (just a thought....it's picky, but it's valid..)
UPDATE: 3 hours later, the opponent's conceded 2 hours ago, and Yahoo still has "MERKEL CLAIMS..........." Finally, at almost 6 pm, Yahoo says she "CAPTURED" the win.

Fascinating. I wonder if Obama's foolishness has anything to do with it. I suspect Israel's election of Netanyahu had something to do with feeling the U.S. would be abandoning its allies. Now is Germany feeling the same? Every big push creates a push-back. Hooray for the people of Germany. May they enjoy the fruits of freedom and capitalism.

Ducky commented on the wrong blog piece and so did I. Here's where they should be:

Blogger Ducky's here said...

The socialist, left and green parties polled over 46%, z.

Hardly a thrashing. Germany seems split like most every other country.

MY RESPONSE:
Ya, Ducky, GEE, we thought it was UNANIMOUS. :-) Good try.

Look, our country's ruining America by a small win, but thank GOD Germany's waking up and will, with what you consider a small percentage, form an even more strong and powerful Conservative coalition (you should learn about that), and be lowering taxes.

See, it doesn't MATTER...she WON. And, more importantly, she got the coalition she needed this time...she won't be held back from the SDP anymore. It's sort of like all we're trying to do for America now doesn't matter because OBAMA WON. I suppose you know that the reason Obama keeps dissing Merkel (for only one example, he still hasn't come to Berlin, a REAL faux pas in diplomacy and not viewed well at all ) is that she refused to do this stupid stimulus suggestion HE felt ALL countries should adapt..and, um....the German economy's doing better, suddenly, than ALL did with his idiotic suggestions that stimuli work.

This is great news. The bad news is that the Commie party gained in Germany. More kids are 18, every year....they've been indoctrinated by the stupid leftist profs, too. Very sad. East Germans will take another generation to compensate for the indoctrination damage by the Communists.

Stupid yahoo... this is really fascinating. It will be interesting to see the changes they make.

Yes, Yahoo obfuscates and you wonder about our own government which TODAY (Sunday) announces Gitmo might not close as promised to the extreme leftwing on the date they promised them.
Good thing for Obama they can't take their votes back, huh?

Good for Germany. I wonder what Opus wonders. Is it possible, seeing what the far left is doing in America, affected this vote?

I also think the AQ threat may have gotten the opposite response of what they had hoped. It had to make the German people get their backs up.

CS: "Twisty turnys" is good...but that's giving them too much credit!

Pris, Obama is losing his luster in Europe BIG TIME. They joke about his appearances on the national scene and some write that they can't believe a president from this country would seem not to champion his own country.
EVERYBODY is sensitive to slamming your own country, even if you disagree with something......except Liberals, who excel at it.

I think lowering taxes appeals to Germans BIG TIME. I think maybe seeing America's president diminish our standing in the world and spending and borrowing SUCH huge amounts is making them nervous that WE can't take care of THEM if anything bad happens anymore and that they have to ELECT ADULTS THERE NOW, TOO!?...
hey, I like that,if I do say so myself :-)

People claim prizes all the time, and always win they win.

It's not an inaccurate headline, just a bit ambiguous to those who don't bother to read the article.

The only people that will believe Merkel didn't win will be people who didn't read the article, leftists, and other kinds of people ideologically invested in making you believe they're blithering idiots.

I agree, Z. Timing gave the Germans just enough Obama reality to stay sober. Friends don't let friends drive drunk [on "hope"].

I'm still trying to figure out how you managed to pick up that intestinal parasite Ducky? Whiny socialist liberal bitchboys don't last long on my blog, the few times they decide to stick their "schwantzen" in the blender.....

Glückwünsche, Deutschland!die Leute haben gesprochen!

Ya, beamish....MERKEL VICTORIOUS would have worked, too. I said it's subtle, but on top of all the others I"ve pointed out......it cracks me up.
The article was quite fair, by the way. Very little slant.

Deborah...perfect quote! Good one.

I know when I was staying in Stuttgart last year, the Communists & Socialists were holding parades & marches through the city square just about every month. The crowds and number of marchers declined every month.

It was interesting when one of them approached me to hand me literature, I turned it down, and got cussed out because I said "Nein danke" with an American accent. Sounds vaguely familiar...

Hey - great post - very enlightening take. The German people understand oppression and they lived it. I am so proud that they will not be intimidated, and I definitely believe the Obama "foolishness" has much to do with it. I am praying for Merkel and the German people.

Flash back to when Bush was in office, if a leftist government won it was nan international indictment of his policies. Now the media can't even bring themselves to admit that the right has won in Germany

This truly is good news. Also in the UK we've had Conservatives winning elections. Maybe folks are seeing the light.

Debbie, even Sweden is LOWERING taxes because 'that seems to be the only thing that works'! Other Scandinavian countries are going conservative, too.

People are waking up....the economy's a huge reason, islamists are another reason.
I think, also, that European countries are OVER being called names for standing tough to terror, to outsiders; Germany has been threatened about 4 times in the last few weeks...bin Laden's said that "Vote for a party who keeps Germans in Afghanistan, and you'd better protect your U-Bahns and other public places" and the Germans rose above the fearful threats.
Pretty amazing....
If Spain hadn't capitulated, maybe they'd still be run by that conservative gov't they had before the Madrid bombings, too.

Wasn't it Ducky who said, after the narrow election of President BO, something like, "He won...get over it?"

Z said...

Joe, yes. It is also Ducky who, for the last 8 years, called anybody who believe terrorism could be a problem here in America "bed wetters", too.

Beamish said "Obama's upset that he found that there really was no remote control button at the White House which causes hurricanes"(I paraphrase but you get the picture).

I guess Ducky might say "Obama's upset that there was no domestic terrorism button there during the last 8 years", too.

By the way, the German Stock Market has gone up 2.3%.

It's good to see countries going conservative & lowering taxes. Now I want to see it happen here.

Ducky's here said...

And health insurers will still be government regulated and mandated to be non-profit in Germany. Count on that.

We should try that here.

Z said...

Since Schroeder's time, the German gov't has been BEGGING Germans to BUY PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE because the gov't can't afford it anymore..

How many times must you hear something to get it to finally sink in, Ducky?
