Purple trees.......trust me!
Jacarandas are blooming everywhere in my neighborhood...streets of them. You'll drive along seeing many beautiful green-leafed trees and, suddenly, a whole street is lined with purple-blossomed jacarandas.....they are GORGEOUS
But,they always remind me of Dr Seuss somehow;
Green is the color of trees, you see...
or yellow or rust in the fall....
but who would expect a purple leaf,
the prettiest leaf of all?
Purple eggs, purple seas?
only in books, of course!
But purple trees abound, she says?
you just might consider the source :-)

Is that San Vicente in Santa Monica?
I'll admit it, never heard of a Jacaranda..had to look it up. Now, then, it is a South American native...alien. Legal or
illegal? :)
Z, did you write that poem? I love it! Heck, who needs green eggs and ham when we can have purple trees!
I love Jacarandas they're so beautiful, but lined along the street, they're spectacular!
Dave, ..no, it's from the internet..google.
I can walk to San Vicente.
BB...anything that doesn't sneak in over the border's legal :-) These trees are more American than I am, having been here a LOT LONGER than anybody in my family! AND, they don't take any freebies like illegals (as my immigrant family didn't)....good all the way around!
They're apparently in Portugal, too, so probably some are scattered throughout Europe, though I'm quite sure I never saw them there. Of course, they only bloom once or twice a year, so who knows? I just read they're in Brisbane, Australia, too.
They're so beautiful and really do seem to me like something from Dr Seuss...like GREEN EGGS and ham, you know? PURPLE TREES!?
I did, Pris...it's fun to do that kind of stuff. But Dr. Seuss is MUCH better :-)
And yes...the tree lined sts are amazing.
They are also prevalent in Oaxaca, Mexico in late winter/early spring...
as long as they're not bougainvilleas
I like purple... ;)
Elbro..:-)
Joe...where did you ever find that? It's kind of catchy!
My sanity and wits appear to have left me.... I don't remember. Musta been something in the trees. ;)
Joe, did you EAT or SMOKE some of it? :-)
Nope, I merely dressed in it. ;)
"AND, they don't take any freebies like illegals"
And they don't drop their litters in ER's... are easier to look at and don't do DUI's every Saturday nite.
Does anybody remember seeing a blog post either yesterday or the day before describing some of the Leon Panetta connections from his past? I've looked at all my blog buddies and can't find it.
It was shocking and I thought there was no way he'd get the Defense Chief job at the Pentagon...but 'au contraire'...he just got it.
HOLY COW
Joe,
Funny you linked that song. Four years ago, I saw my niece in a dance recital where all the acts had color themes. I think I saw one rehersal, which means I may have heard the purple song twice in my life, but I found it catchy enough to look it up. Mistakenly thinking the songs was called "stars wearing purple," I found nothing. Four years later, I have my answer.

Podesta is president of the Center for American Progress, which is heavily influential in advising the White House. The Center is funded by philanthropist George Soros
My mother loved jacaranda trees, she planted one in her front yard finally, just a couple years before she died. They will probably always make me think of her. I wonder if it's blooming now too.
Looks similar to the color of redbud trees here in early spring.
Mike, that's neat that you'd heard that before. It's very catchy, isn't it!
Major...it's WAY WAY worse than "just" part of that Soros group (which is bad enough). Oh, I WISH I could find that blog which had an amazing list of stuff.....i was stunned.
Lovelyprism, hi! I love that story about your mother and am so sorry for your loss. I hope she's sitting up in heaven under a huge jacaranda and the lovely lavender petals are whirling in the air around her. (and that she doesn't have to be the one to clean them UP! :-)
Beamish...then why call them REDbud? :-)
Beamish...then why call them REDbud? :-)
They're all card-carrying members of the Communist Party. :P
Actually, they start rather reddish, then quickly turn to that lavender / purple color before going green.
Hey wait, maybe they're commies after all.
Our wisteria vines and wisteria trees are beyond peak now. But at peak? Wow!
Unfortunately, the wisteria vine on our property is out of control and virulently invasive. I'm fighting that vine -- and losing.
Z,
some information about Panetta and his Communist ties
thanks, AOW....I wish he had had more space to talk about the horrid other things that whatever blogger I can't remember had discussed :-(
