Sunday Faith Blog....Notice your beautiful day

"We live by faith, not by sight." 2 Corinthians 5:7 "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1
But, oh, the sights we see can remind us of our Creator...can they ever. Remember, especially in these terrible times for America, to really see and appreciate a beautiful sunrise or sunset, walk in your garden, watch a nearby ocean or a lake...........have faith. Do you have a favorite line about faith? Please share it with us! Be blessed. Mr and Mrs Z

Z that was a BEAUTIFUL picture. Sometimes we fail to notice the beauty of the world given to us by the creator. Just yesterday Nanette and I were driving through some gorgeous rolling horse country northeast of Gainseville. As we marveled at the fields of green and yellow and the cows and horses...there it was!

A tornado was forming in the midst of a HUGE black cloud 300-400 yards in front of us! People were pulling off the road or stopping altogether and I gunned it to get through quickly. Our hearts were beating like crazy and we said our "thank G-ds" after getting through the mess.

We never thought to thank Him until we were in danger.

It's a beautiful day here in the Washington, D.C. area.

In about an hour, Mr. AOW and I heading downtown in a little while to see some visiting exhibits at one of the museums. If my back holds up, we'll go to more than one museum!

We might not be outside much, but I'm sure we'll have to park far enough away that we'll get a bit of a walk on The National Mall. This time, I'm taking the camera.

It's a hot day where we're at. HOT, HOT, HOT! And it's been hot for a long time, but I'm not complaining, mind you. I'm happy for any day at all and our sunrises and sunsets are glorious!

It's not global warming either. It's always hot here this time of year. This isn't anything that hasn't been going on for 200 years or more. So "thank you, Lord, for any weather at all, and especially for the rain when it finally comes." :)

The picture

Oops! The last sentence was cut off. It was supposed to read "the picture is glorious too."

Wow, thanks, everybody.

Jingo, I love that 'lesson'..to remember him before He gets you out of trouble!! "never thought to thank Him until we were in danger"
Well said!

AOW...tell us what you saw when you get back!!

RaDena, you have a great spirit!

Cube, It was He who reminded ME for this Sunday Faith blog...that's always what it feels like. The pictures/verses kind of write themselves! VERY weird feeling!

Hey, Elbro, thanks for that!! How nice! (if they are people of faith, think what it would do if they spoke out!?)

While this song is not overtly Christian many of their lyrics are. I'm going to be sharing some of those lyrics on my blog in the days ahead.

Beautiful Day

The heart is a bloom
Shoots up through the stony ground
There's no room
No space to rent in this town

You're out of luck
And the reason that you had to care
The traffic is stuck
And you're not moving anywhere

You thought you'd found a friend
To take you out of this place
Someone you could lend a hand
In return for grace

It's a beautiful day
Sky falls, you feel like
It's a beautiful day
Don't let it get away

You're on the road
But you've got no destination
You're in the mud
In the maze of her imagination

You love this town
Even if that doesn't ring true
You've been all over
And it's been all over you

It's a beautiful day
Don't let it get away
It's a beautiful day

Touch me
Take me to that other place
Teach me
I know I'm not a hopeless case

See the world in green and blue
See China right in front of you
See the canyons broken by cloud
See the tuna fleets clearing the sea out
See the Bedouin fires at night
See the oil fields at first light
And see the bird with a leaf in her mouth
After the flood all the colors came out

It was a beautiful day
Don't let it get away
Beautiful day

Touch me
Take me to that other place
Reach me
I know I'm not a hopeless case

What you don't have you don't need it now
What you don't know you can feel it somehow
What you don't have you don't need it now
Don't need it now
Was a beautiful day

My favorite faith verse is "If we believe not, He abideth faithful. He cannot deny himself."

Thank you Z!

Oh Beverly, I don't know you, but I appreciate your sharing that great verse. The great missionary Hudson Taylor said that was one of his favorite verses. In this fallen world, sometimes our faith fails, but never our Savior! God Bless you all!

Z,
The 23rd Psalm was front and center today in Mass. It brought back a memory of when I was on the plane to Southeast Asia, there was a guy next to me reading the bible. I asked what he was reading and he recited the 23rd Psalm to me.

He said feel safe because He is with us. I thought of it often in the military and on the PD. I also wore a St. Michael the Archangel medal my parents gave to me when I went on the PD. St. Michael is the patron saint of police.

It is comforting to know that He is with us always.

My son's name is Michael.

Faith = responsible trust in god

I like how John Donne put it: reason is our soul's left hand, Faith her right.

and not to be political, but that is soooo American as well. See Michael Novak's ON TWO WINGS, Humble Faith and Common Sense at America's Founding. Our liberty depends as much on faith as on reason.

The picture is so beautiful - almost doesn't look real.

Z, what a beautiful acene.

From Footprints,

Christ turned to the man and said,
"It is that while your life was easy I walked along your side, but here where the walking was hard and the paths were difficult, was the time you needed Me most, and that is why I carried you."

Thanks, everyone...such moving comments.

Sue, I thought so, too, but it's right out of a large file of English countryside shots the rest of which are absolutely real, so I'm thinking this is. I thought about not posting it because it could be color-altered but I figured it's not if the rest are 'just' travel kinds of shots, you know? But, good point.

People who keep their faith during VERY trying times stun me. Those of you here who've done that, and you know I know who you are, have my deepest and most profound respect.

I would have given Sue's Blessed are those who believe but have not seen.'
-John 20:29

We are having the most gorgeous weather here, and there is so much to be thankful for among me and mine. We had good friends over last night and it was cool enough to enjoy the patio - unusual for mid-July. We have had enough rain to keep everything green and beautiful. I am humbled and so grateful for the world around me. (Well I could make a few changes in the White House and be a bit more grateful, but...)

Z(V)..the picture is beautiful, and so is the thought!

My husband asked, once, if I realized that God was in the advertising business.

I said, "Huh?"

"Yes," he replied. "All of nature is His billboard!" :)

One of my favorite lines about faith is when the deciples came to Jesus asking why they couldn't cast out a demon as He had done. He answered them, "Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you." Matthew 17:20

Btw...if you want something to make you smile, drop by my place.

To hear with my heart,
To see with my soul,
To be guided by a hand I cannot hold,
To trust in a way that I cannot see,
That's what faith must be.
