Pelosi and Carter; Did they get the memo? I know, I'm really sticking my neck out here and I don't care anymore

ABC News’ Rick Klein reports: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said today that she's worried that angry words directed at President Obama could incite political violence and cited incidents of violence in her hometown of San Francisco in the 1970s in expressing her concern.

Asked at a news conference on Capitol Hill about the possibility of anti-government rhetoric leading to violence, Pelosi, D-Calif., started to choke up as she recalled violent episodes that took place in San Francisco.

"I have concerns about some of the language that is being used because I saw -- I saw this myself in the late '70s in San Francisco, this kind of -- of rhetoric was very frightening and it gave -- it created a climate in which we -- violence took place," Pelosi said.

"And so I wish that we would all, again, curb our enthusiasm in some of the statements that are made, understanding that -- that some of the people -- the ears it is falling on are not as balanced as the person making the statement might assume," she said.

So, you see.....because we're getting effective and waking people up to the facts about the health care bill, daring to disagree with her Obama puppet, she pulls out the gay card (Harvey Milk's death so many years later apparently still makes tears come to Ms Pelosi), the anti-government whacko card, the nutty gun toters card. (Does she cry for the people Bill Ayers and Bernadette Dorn's Weather Underground killed?) Then, right on cue?, Carter pulls the race card on us.

DO YOU SEE WHAT THEY'RE DOING? Think about past Democrat protests, remember the horrid things said about Bush, including they wish he'd DIE. Google that some time, you'll see plenty. DARE I SAY THIS AND REMAIN BLOGGING? Are the left setting something AWFUL up? Think about it..fomenting doubt about Conservative SANITY because of a couple of signs in seas of otherwise normal, constructive, even funny and clever, sayings on placards at protests? Pray for Obama, NOBODY wants him unsafe. (I don't think)

Her statement seems perfectly reasonable. She's seen far right wingers in the assassinations of Moscone and Milk interpret their second amendment rights very broadly.

And if you don't think there is a fringe issuing the call to arms right now then you simply aren't paying attention. They tune in to hate radio and get themselves good and worked up every day.

This is going to pop. Absolutely guaranteed.

Z said...

There will be extremists on both sides until the end of time, Ducky.
They know that, you know that.

if anything 'pops', they can blame themselves for what they're doing now, rushing through bills, taking us into unending debt, calling good Americans very nasty names, and suggesting fringe behavior like Weather Underground's could come from the Right now.
God forbid they're setting THE ONE up. Sure sounds like it, doesn't it?
MILLIONS of peaceful American protesters speak up and your side gets weepy and accusatory? GROW UP, DUCKY...it's unattractive and even scarier than ANY of those damned protesters could dream of being.

I think Pelosi's statement reeks of desperation; she so needs to demonize those on the right because she knows that at the current pace she will be down 20-30 seats in a year.

She knows she's screwed and she's lashing out, pure and simple.

The history of the Weather Underground is interesting, z. They set quite a few bombs and made it a point to try to avoid deaths ... and they were largely successful.

If you are going to look for targeted assassination you'll have to look at the Manson group and I'm not sure where you would put that crew on the political scale.

Fact remains, the rhetoric from the right is loaded with hate right now. Hate for a variety of people. You didn't hear anything like what's coming out of Glenn Beck's mouth during the Bush years.

If anything, we learned our lesson back in the day ... first time tragedy, second time farce.

These second amendment clowns that you have running around on the right may not be capable of learning.

Z said...

Brooke, add that with Carter's comment made on about the same day.....this is INSANE on their parts.

Millions of clean, traditional Americans keeping our constitution in mind and meeting peacefully and we get THIS kind of conjecture?

They even suggested Joe Wilson is a racist because he said "YOU LIE" and he was one of the senators voting for the confederate flag to stay as a historical object. You can't make this stuff up. It's ALWAYS the left fomenting this rancor...then pushing as HARD as they can and expecting us to take it? And saying we're threatening if we fight back?

Z said...

Thanks, Ducky...but "As he told the New York Times on September 11, 2001, ironically enough, "I don't regret setting bombs. I feel we didn't do enough." Then there is his book, Fugitive Days, where he admits his role "in the bombings of New York City Police Headquarters in 1970, of the Capitol building in 1971, and the Pentagon in 1972," or his simple rendition of what radicals must do: "Kill all the rich people.... Kill your parents."

"You didn't hear anything like what's coming out of Glenn Beck's mouth during the Bush years."

That's for sure....you never hear Beck calling for anybody's death, wishing Biden were dead of his last heart attack. That is absolutely true, Ducky. Thanks. We have that to be thankful for.

i'm seriously trying to understand why those on the left can say every manner of vile, hateful sentiment, and yet if anyone on the right PEACEFULLY oppose anything coming out of THIS administration and/or THIS congress, we're accused of every manner of vile, hateful sentiment.

over a million people exercised their first amendment right last saturday at the capitol. over a million people - regardless of what the msm says, i've seen the pictures and they don't lie - and not a single, solitary arrest. no trash strewn or landscaping destroyed. peaceful.

and people were there from every walk of life - and every type of american was represented (black, white, hispanic, asian, etc.) please explain to me what is so scary about people PEACEFULLY exercising their first amendment right.

my personal belief is that those on the left - including the msm - are trying to frighten us into shutting up. that they somehow believe that the election of obama with a 7% margin is a MANDATE to do whatever they want, the will of the people be damned.

as for carter, when the race card starts getting thrown around by our elected "leaders", it is the responsibilty of the citizens to begin digging through the quagmire of "political correctness" that is being thrown our way and find out what it is they really do not want us to know.

great post, z. i'm stading strong with you. thanks for putting it out there.

Come on, Heidianne, get a clue. Nobody is talking about that gathering in Washington last week.

On the left we put ten times that number in the street in many individual locations and it was completely peaceful.

What I am talking about is the "2nd amendment" crowd, a couple of which post here, prominently one form Oklahoma and their call to arms as the only way to maintain "our freedoms".

It's irrational, just as the hate that comes from Beck and Limbaugh and a number of loony toons is vulgar and potentially dangerous.

Ducky? WHEN WAS THIS? "On the left we put ten times that number in the street in many individual locations and it was completely peaceful."

It's irrational to expect Americans to buy the crap the far left's shoving down our throats, to quote Serena WIlliams. I'll just finish the metaphor: THAT takes BALLS.

"This is going to pop. Absolutely guaranteed."

And Ducky, this is what you want. This is what the far left wants, for something to "pop".

Your people are doing everything they can to facilitate it. Calling the American people racists, you think, is a sly way to gin up dissatisfacion in the black community. Once again exploiting black people, with Jimmy Carter leading the way. Pathetic.

You racists will stoop to anything, and you are reprehensible.

I guess you didn't mind when Bush was portrayed in a film being assassinated, or the hate directed at him for eight years. Pelosi nor Carter ever said a word. In fact they contributed to it.

Z, I called Pelosi's office this AM, and told the girl on the phone that those throngs of people in DC on the 12th, who cleaned up after themselves are hardly the kind of people who would tear the place up in a fit of violence. I also said the American people don't appreciate being lectured to like five year olds.

She said Pelosi didn't do that. With that, she cut me off, without a word, and transferred me to a message machine. No staffer in any politician's office has ever done that to me before. They usually say thank you for calling, at the least.

I left a message saying the speaker should make an effort to help the poor farmers in San Joaquin Valley and hung up. Then I called back and told the girl, why didn't she just say Pelosi didn't give a damn about the American people, and hung up.

Here's a bit of news that just broke. It seems the President of Poland found out about the change of plans by the Obama administration, for the missile defense shield to be reduced to a mobile capability, from the news.

No one from the administration called him personally to inform him. Hillary called a couple of days AFTER it was announced here. He refused to take her call.

This is how this President does business with our allies. Unbelievable!

What happened to that "unity with the world"? That "respect for world opinion"?

I guess the "one" can't deign to call, after all he can't talk to fewer than 20,000 people, and probably doesn't have a phone prompter.

as for no one speaking about last saturday, what the heck are you talking about? although the msm has been trying diligently to ignore the march, many ARE talking about it and trying to downplay it and/or portray all attendees as racists or fringers.

yes you speak of timothy mcveigh while ignoring bill ayers and his com padres at the weather underground and those in the black panthers and so on and so forth. you also ignore all of the vitriol spewed about bush and reagan and our soldiers and every other person who has emerged as a leader for the right in living memory.

please quote your sources for limbaugh or beck or any other mainstream presence on the right calling for the death of obama or even that harm come to him. stop issuing talking points put forth by huffpo or daily kos or anyone else and cite your sources.

I take it by "largely" successful, you mean they ONLY killed two policemen?

But hey, look where it got Ayres. He helped launch Obama's senate campaign, and is a good friend of the President.

So, nuts are out there, and always will be. Occasionally there is government sponsored violence as in Waco and Ruby Ridge.

Besides, Poland and Czechoslavakia

If you are going to look for targeted assassination you'll have to look at the Manson group and I'm not sure where you would put that crew on the political scale.

The Manson "family" lived a communal life of sexual deviances and copious consumption of industrial strength LSD-25, which led them to believe killing people they dehumanized as "pigs" would lead to a race war to overthrow "the Establishment," and during their trials they carved into thier foreheads the swastika, a symbol introduced by the socialists of the Bolshevik Revolution (and printed on post-Tsarist Russian currency) and later adopted by the left-wing labor activists of Germany's national socialist (Nazi) party.

I'd say it's pretty easy to pin them down.

When "It" is in danger and perhaps subsequently defended by a disciplined, trained armed individual (be him a policeman or a prepared citizen), will "It" be grateful, rethink his baseless talking "points" or reconsider his mindless babble?

Nah... "It" is just a cliché. A well of endless, perpetual nonsense who doesn't have the decency, self-respect or common sense to squelch "Its" self-imposed, intentional typhlosis. It would rather continue in miserable assault on the clear thinking and take its' own repugnant pleasure.

Yours is an astute, daunting observation, Z. As usual, your commenters add many excellent branches. Time will move forward and the history that it creates will tell the tale. I have a lot of trouble even listening to stuff like this it's so depressing. Lies about people are hard to take and they actually believe their own lies.

A relevant word from Psalm 64:
...3 Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words: ...5 They encourage themselves in an evil matter: ...6 They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search:...

7 But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded. 8 So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves:

Praying this psalm is a good idea in these days.

Here's Ducky...once again espousing that motto of the left, "If we say it is true, it is true, not because it actually happened, but because we SAID it happened."

According to Ducky, there were never any threats or evil thoughts about President Bush because, since they were against President Bush they could not be evil.

An estimated 1.7 MILLION Americans marched on Washington a week a go today in vigorous protest of Obama's health care initiatives.

These people were passionate, but good-humored. Their anger never showed any tendency to become violent. Apparently, they came to Washington [many more tried to join the march but could not get near the place so jam-packed was DeeCee] and left leaving little or no trace of their presence -- no garbage, no graffiti, no defacing of parks and monuments, no destruction of property, etc.

That tells a great deal about the nature of conservative protestors.

It might eventually HAVE to come to a modern version of Bastille Day so determined are the politicians and the enemedia to ignore and override the wishes of a majority of their constituents.

After all it was H. Rap Brown who claimed, "Violence is as American as cherry pie" when leftist-inspired riots exploded in several American cities back in the sick-sties.

Maybe he was right. Perhaps violence IS the only way to dislodge an entrenched power bloc.

I hope not, as I fear so.

Pelosi and Carter and so many others need only keep repeating these accusations over and over until some idiot Liberal thinks he can help them by at least attempting the Assassination of the President and then blaming the deed on Conservatives.

They are planting the seed of an idea in these unstable loony Liberals.
