Jon Stewart "FALSE" on FOX

HERE is an article by PolitiFact, of the St Petersburg Times, showing that Jon Stewart's assertions that FOX's viewers are "the most consistently misinformed media viewers" is FALSE.  Here are some excerpts from the linked article:

Fox News was just about at the national average -- 19 percent of Fox viewers scored in the high knowledge category, compared to 18 percent of all respondents -- but this time a handful of news outlets scored lower than Fox did. With scores ranging from 17 percent all the way down to 9 percent, they were CNBC, local television news, network news, morning news shows, television newsmagazines, personality magazines, religious radio, the Weather Channel, CBS News, Access Hollywood and similar shows, and in last place, the National Enquirer.

And once again, particular Fox shows scored well above the average. Hannity & Colmes was one of only four choices to exceed 40 percent -- the others were the New Yorker/the Atlantic, NPR and MSNBC’s Hardball -- while The O’Reilly Factor scored 28 percent, or 10 points above the national average. (Hannity & Colmes even exceeded Stewart’s Daily Show in this poll, 42 percent to 30 percent.)

Viewers of at least one show on Fox scored quite well -- The O’Reilly Factor, of whom 51 percent made it into the high knowledge group. That made it equal to National Public Radio -- a longtime target of conservative complaints about liberal media bias -- and only three percentage points behind Stewart’s own show, at 54 percent.

Fox actually scored better than its two direct cable-news rivals -- MSNBC, which is a liberal counterpoint to Fox, and CNN, which is considered more middle-of-the-road. Also scoring lower than Fox were local television news, the evening network news shows and the network morning shows.

So we have three Pew studies that superficially rank Fox viewers low on the well-informed list, but in several of the surveys, Fox isn’t the lowest, and other general-interest media outlets -- such as network news shows, network morning shows and even the other cable news networks -- often score similarly low. Meanwhile, particular Fox shows -- such as The O’Reilly Factor and Sean Hannity’s show -- actually score consistently well, occasionally even outpacing Stewart’s own audience.

UPDATE:  I just researched an image for Stewart and learned that he conceded last night based on the article above (I hadn't heard that yet, I saw the article first)...HERE is that story. The video there doesn't work for me, maybe it will for you.  Stewart concedes to the information above but apparently went on to find any mistake FOX ever made :-)

Some media analysts are saying that the leftwing media will be stepping up its attacks on FOX as we get closer to the elections....it'll be all KILL THE MESSENGER.... as if they have anything to worry about Obama getting reelected?  Would that the American public was as informed as FOX's Dem and Rep viewers are.
To give credit where credit is due, I now see Yahoo headlines is showing that the truth "shreds" Stewart's claims.     Well, I'll be darned.

(now read below and have a laugh!?)

Who on earth would believe anything that comes out of Jon Stewart's mouth? He has no credibility.

Have any of these studies determined if O'Reilly viewers use him as an exclusive news source?

Lot of holes in the study. Still, if you ask a question like "Who is Eric Holder", you can pick up the name on Fox easily. Doesn't indicate you know anything about the Justice Dept.

Fox viewers clearly know that Obummer wasn't born in America but beyond that it gets very gray.

The most important conclusion that can be culled is that the entire nation is uninformed.
Who's more handsome, Boris Karloff or Peter Lorre. Who's more informed Fox viewers or MSNBC viewers.

Leticia, sadly, we'd be surprised.

"Have any of these studies determined if O'Reilly viewers use him as an exclusive news source?"

O'Reilly is discussion from both sides and sadly needed exposee. Not news.

"Fox viewers clearly know that Obummer wasn't born in America but beyond that it gets very gray."

Actually, after Trump finally dragged a certificate from the WH, there are still doubts. No, nobody clearly knows anything.

As to the rest of your comment; that's true. But, of course, the Stewart nonsense was not.

Demorats operate in the Josef Goebbels camp. His quote:

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

In fact he did say that he was wrong and acknowledged his error.

His logic was that if he was in error, as Politifact stated, then he should acknowledge that, own it, and seek to do better.

All of which he did last night.

He also pointed out that FOX News has had the biggest won the Politifact Award for the biggest lie of both 2009 and 2010, something they have yet to acknowledge.

Just sayin...

It's far more likely the left views Jon Stewart as a news source.

Dave, and I'm sure CNN has never told a lie or been bias? Is that what you're suggesting?
You really think these 'awards' are unbiased? :-)
And no...Stewart said he was wrong and mentioned lies that he feels FOX told. What did you think he'd do, have an epiphany of dignity and contrition?!

BZ...it might as well be Goebbels; when all the public sees are things like mistakes in the NY Times articles on the front page and then the corrections are on "See Page 34"
Do you think CNN or MSNBC has admitted information given too quickly?

I acknowledge that FOX apparently has been too quick on the draw and given information too soon a couple of times, apparently; and they've admitted it, too. Every news venue tries to get out with the scoop.

Beamish; I think that's the case...I don't watch Stewart or some other guy whose last name starts with a C but I did hear people look to them for news; Americans don't even know the difference; leftwing bias IS the truth for them now.

I'm blessed by basic cable. I don't have Fox, MSNBC, or Comedy Central. Most of my news comes from articles linked at blogs I read, and find myself quite more informed than a day of watching CNN.

BFD. Fox Lies and edits. Just this week, Lol!

Fox News Sunday Edits Out Jon Stewart's Criticism Of Fox Exec
http://mediamatters.org/blog/201106200020

In Stewart's opinion, "the takeaway moment of the entire interview" was the fact that Chris Wallace (a respected journalist at Fox News) admitted that the cable channel presented the "other side of the story." That does not said fair and balanced as the network bills itself.

He apologized on his show for his error and pointed out the Fox News 'dynasty of Lies.' like Health Care is run by the government' and 'Death panels.

Yeah right...and Bush said:

"See in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda."

Um...I think that's what every politician does, but it's not okay for Bush, right?

And a news venue which was criticized edited a tiny bit of it OUT? OH MY GOSH!! :-)
Do you think CNN would ever even allow someone to come on any of their segments and trash them? REALLY? :-)

It's a tad pathetic to hear your same ol' same 'ol, Bd.........really pathetic. WE GET IT; YOU DON'T LIKE CONSERVATIVES!

Then GO! :-) je vous en pris!
