Palin's Tour

I've been thinking about Sarah Palin's bus tour during which she's visiting sites important to the history of this country.   She says she's doing this because she wants to bring attention to these locations, to remind Americans about their history.   I don't quite see how spending an hour here and an hour there has much meaning, and the politics of this bus trip have overshadowed by far any 'bus trip through American history',  but maybe there's something that would make this whole bus tour make better sense. I got to thinking that I hope they're recording this trip and that  maybe she'll do a voice-over elaborating on these places and what happened there and why we revere them in our country....Mt Vernon, the Liberty Bell, The Statue of Liberty, the Jefferson Memorial....etc.

If this trip is to highlight these great American locations, why not document them in detail, to educate the last 2 generations or so who've not been treated to learning much of our history?  Why not get this information in DVD form to immigrants so they can learn more about America?

There's something by Palin I WOULD watch more than I'd watch something like her last series on Alaska....how about you?   What do you think this tour is about? And, do you think she'll run?

Yours is a good idea, it'll educate a lot of people on what made you a great nation. We all know how much leftard rats have done to undermine that.

I like the idea Z, but have you heard that there is a 2-hour movie about her coming out in a couple of weeks?

This I hear has been in the works for sometime now by a professional movie producer and very much on the hush-hush while in the making.

Should prove to be very interesting.

The good thing is, it's driving the left nuts! :-)

I think she's setting up a run for President. I don't think it's a good idea, but the RNC will make sure that doesn't happen.

I do like the way she's treating the media, though. They are all whining that she won't cooperate with them. I say, why should she? It's not like they've been fair or kind to her in the past. I love the way she's putting them in their place by refusing to give in to their demands. I think that's the real story.

She was in the North End yesterday (darn, missed it) and she got caught on tape telling a group of 5th graders at the Old North Church about Paul Revere ringing the bells to warn about the British.

I's sorry that I couldn't sit down at the Cafe Vittoria for an espresso with her to talk world history.

I think Palin is reaching the "who cares" level. She should either get into the fight, or stay out. But, that's me.

She's a far better choice than Romney.

And I agree with KH...they're having apoplexy over it.

She's pretty far down my list, but I love how she sends the lefty nutballs into hyper-nutball overdrive.

Palin's bus tour is akin to the old whistle-stop tours but has a historical emphasis instead of purely a campaigning emphasis.

I'm not sure that Palin will run for President. I hope she doesn't, frankly, as I see her role as one of "rallying the troops" to prevent the re-election of Obama. In any case, she infuriates the Left and, therefore, has value.

Palin draws a huge crowd wherever she goes. I've never attended one of those rallies, but I know some who have and have been so impressed with her and, specifically, her love for America.

I like your idea of a patriotic documentary, Z.

Good morning Z, I think this is part of her overall strategy. She's bypassing the MSM and the Republican party machine and leadership - going directly to America and our citizens. She's using her high profile to call attention to the greatness of America and from whence it came. To me, she's reminding us (or teaching those who don't know) about the time-tested principles that allowed our country to achieve so much.

Z, do you remember how the MSM, Democrats and even our own Republican party machine and leadership treated Ronald Reagan as he sought the nomination in 1979 & 1980? History is repeating itself here. Ronald Reagan went directly to the American people, inspiring us all with his message of America's greatness, his unwavering faith in the goodness and character of the American people. And President Reagan was absolutely right.

Sarah Palin is following his example. She is a true believer in the American way of life and has the same faith and belief in the power of average, hardworking Americans. She's not going after political affiliations, she's communicating directly with Americans who believe in our way of life. Those of us, in the majority, who want to pass on our way of life to our future generations. None of us wants to preside over the ruination of our country. We want to restore it.

This isn't political, this isn't a game. This is a serious situation that calls for leadership with courage. Sarah Palin has it. She's a true leader who understands the problems we fact and has ideas that will lead us out of this disaster.

You watch, Z. Sarah Palin is coming! She's ready to make history -- not only as the 1st female President -- but also as our own version of the Iron Lady. She's coming!

The "Driving Miss Crazy" tour is proof she's running?

I don't think Palin is running. If she were even considering it, I would encourage her to seek psychiatric help. I think Ducky's shrink has an opening on Thursday afternoons.

IMO Palin is a cheerleader and nothing more; it is what she does best. I think there is a role for her in that capacity, but she had no business running for any office above state politics. I agree with Karen and Silverfiddle … I love how she is driving the left wing media bonkers.

Z said...

MK, they really have undermined it...kids here don't even know Americans once thought we WERE a 'great nation'...thanks to teachers and media and leftwingers.

Christopher...there are a couple of films; one's about the McCain campaign and won't be at all flattering, of course (Ed Harris is a far leftwinger and he's playing McCain)...and another film about her that's supposed to be flattering, I believe?

Karen, they are going nuts; I believe that was part of the seductiveness of her not listing their itinerary on the website. She said it was for security reasons, I'm not so sure.

Mark...the media has been SO AWFUL to her that I'm glad she's getting back at them in this way. They're not finished, of course.

Ducky, you'd think she'd at least learn the history when she's at the place she's talking about, don't you. That's nuts.

But, I'd like you to sit down and talk about things of her choosing; I'm pretty sure she knows a lot more than you on a lot of subjects like oil drilling, patriotism, the Constitution...
Easy to take the shot that world history isn't her 'thing'...it sure isn't Obama's, either.

Bob...that's ME, too, believe me. Though I hope she does NOT.

Joe, Romney's too slick but Palin?

Silverfiddle..yup.

AOW..the documentary would be a good idea if she got it together more than saying Paul Revere rang BELLS !

FW, I wish I could agree with you about Palin because I was a huge fan when she first joined McCain. She's totally lost me.
The other day, she talked about how one of the reasons they're not giving an itinerary for the bus tour is the price of gas and how that might cause them to cut the trip short. Do you know how much she makes per speech, per book, per documentary... per..per..?
But, that's just one example....
She loves this country, that's for sure; I can't fault her there, it's refreshing and exciting, but...she's not my pick. When I hear her responses to interviewers, she seems to know as much (or little) as I do on various subjects and THAT scares me!! :-)

Ducky, can you show where anybody said that here? thanks.

Mustang, your line about Ducky's therapist's opening cracked me up, thanks! I agree about Palin; she's a wonderful rallier of the troops..and we need someone like that. although the media's SO nasty about her that it could backfire for Republicans.

Your idea of the patriotic CD is an excellent idea. Your people should contact Palin's people and suggest it.

Whether Palin decides to run or not, for now she's giving the left apoplective fits and that works for me.

I agree, Fairwitness. She's more Reaganesque than most of the Republicans out there.

Ducky's here said...

Scotty, can you state some of the ideas?

1. drill, baby, drill

2. tinkle down economics

That's standard Republican playbook.

What's she going to do about housing? I pick that because I don't believe this economy is growing until the housing market is stabilized. Does she have a policy on foreclosures?

50% of the profits in America are made on Wall Street for doing absolutely nothing. Does she believe this income disparity generator should be allowed to continue to run wild without generating any growth?

Which of her major ideas aren't warmed over aphorisms?

Ducky,

1. borrow from China
2. rob the rich who worked hard
3. encourage illegals
4. pay others' mortgages
5. blame Bush
6. don't drill

Democrat policy on foreclosures= Don't let anybody lose their home even if their neighbor has to pay their mortgage.

Screw Wall Street...they didn't make the money splitting rails so they don't deserve it.

those, and more, are 'standard Democrat playbook'....

cut the crap; we can all play this game better than you.

Silverfiddle said...

@ Ducky: "What's she going to do about housing?

Typical progressive statist question.

The answer of course, is Nothing!

The federal government does not belong in private markets, and that includes the Wall Street finance markets and banking.

Take away the taxpayer-funded trillion dollar safety nets. The banksters will stop playing with fire when they themselves have to pay for the losses when they burn the house down.

After the decade-long depression, Carter's stagflation, and now Obama's multi-trillion porkapalooza that got us nowhere, you'd think the Keynesians would fade away in disrepute...

Z said...

Silverfiddle; Ducky thinks the housing market is largely responsible for the economy downturn until someone reminds him how many times Bush warned about Freddie and Fanny..then the "housing market's problems had little to do with the downturn."

Ducky's here said...

Even if you are correct ,z (you're not). What will be done to stabilize housing prices?

You can talk all the supply side theory you like but this economy is stagnant if you can't deal with housing.

Keynes did map circumstances where sufficient growth to generate full employment was not possible without some government action. The free market (LMAO) can get itself into a situation where it cannot overcome its inertia.

Or we can continue to favor Wall Street which pretty much generates a lot of the situations you reasonably object to.

Sarah Palin will someday have a booth in Silver Dollar City at Branson.

Z said...

Ducky, I can't think like you do. I'm too open minded: I would never say no gov't intervention is ever needed and I don't see everything as black/white as you do. Your mind clamps up when free market's even mentioned...it seizes up.
Did it EVER occur to you that we're broke and that, for example, encouraging illegals by not taking care of the borders and continuing to pay for their well being while millions of AMericans (born here and naturalized, so don't get ME on the 'you hate immigrants' idiocy because I AM from extremely recent immigrants) do NOT get the same benefits isn't working?
How do I explain to my girlfriends who work very hard to get their kids through college that illegals' children are getting it FREE now.
Did it ever occur to you that AMERICANS COME FIRST? EVER?

My opinion is that we've completely handed manufacturing over to everyone BUT us and if that doesn't stop, and soon, we're done. Which I know would thrill you to your toes, but most Americans love this country and want to have her BACK.

Beamish,....probably.

That's easy, Ducky, get the government out of the housing industry AND the financial side.

The housing crisis will handle itself. It'll go back to what the market will bear, like in the old days. We don't need any tinkering with liberal policies.

Sorry, but not everyone is qualified to own a house. If one can't afford a house based on what they earn, the government has no business in helping......

A policy on foreclosure, you mean like pay somebody else's mortgage??? LOL.

Bravo Scotty, it is easy. The left just won't accept a natural course of anything. This requires common sense, so we might as well be whistling in the wind as far as they're concerned.

It seems too many have to learn the hard way. Unfortunately, they pull us down with them.

Well z, let me answer.

"Did it ever occur to you that we are broke ... "

Who's "we". The upper 5 percent are rolling in cash. They are generating huge profits doing nothing, producing nothing. You think they want change?

"encouraging illegals by not taking care of the borders and continuing to pay for their well being ..."

Saint Ronnie Raygun's amnesty didn't work huh. But NAFTA has pretty much accomplished its objectives and it has helped in displacing a number of the poor. So we can ask Clintoon and Chuckles to defend their policy. But like Reagan the volume of illegals went way up under the Republican, Bush. Nobody asks why.
Deportations are way up under Obama.

"How do I explain to my girlfriends who work very hard to get their kids through college that illegals' children are getting it FREE now."

Sorry, I call bull.
I don't know the situation in Cali but in "liberal" Massachusetts groups have been trying to pass an in state tuition for illegals law and it has gone NOWHERE.
The Dream Act (putrid name) DOA.

"Did it ever occur to you that AMERICANS COME FIRST? EVER?"

We are what portion of the world's population an we consume what portion of the resources? Rest of the world ain't standing still for that nonsense any longer.

The American working class is taking it in the shorts like working classes everywhere else.

Wall Street is doing just fine, like financiers everywhere.

Do I want working people fighting it out with each other? I'm a leftist, of course not. I want them to realize who's doing them raw.

Ducky's here said...

Pris, you are aware that even the great Greenspan declared that the idea of a self correcting market is WRONG.

Now, if Greenspan can admit there was a serious problem with his world view it would benefit all the amateur Libertarians to keep up with current affairs and rethink their position as well.
