Just had to mention I had CNN on this minute and saw how any terrorist could hurt or destroy this country, in detail....what ports are the least protected, what amazing devastation hitting the Port of Long Beach (off Los Angeles) would do, how subways have 2x the passengers and far less protection. Good job, CNN. Let's give terrorists more fodder for terror. GEEEEEEEEZ
Now, please see my post just below.........If you're a Christian, you'll enjoy it better than the news above :-)

You don't think they knew this?

They probably know our geography better than the average home schooled far right winger.

It's like the time the far right bed wetters got their knickers in a knot because they thought we tipped of the jihadists that we were tracking phone calls. Like they didn't know what all that gear at Ft. George Meade is all about.

Z said...

Ducky; stop with the bed wetter comments or you're gone; i promise.
Be above name calling, please.

I don't think ANY information like I heard today should be given,....and no, I don't think they're THAT much smarter than this administration or any news reader.
They sure were smart at Ft Hood.
I'm saying the less said about things in public, especially the constant bickering to where we're arguing more than preventing.

I thought duhkkky was always complaining about how these terrorists were incompetent boobs...which is it duhkkky?

BTW ifthey do know geography better then a homeschooler that's saying a lot

duhkkky is so ignorant when it comes to homeschooling

a 10 year old homeschooler was the youngest geography bee winner ever

No, it's never a good idea to go into great detail on television about which ports are more vulnerable and why and how they can get around what we ARE doing.
How is that a good idea?

Sorry about the home schooling line...Elbro's right, it's just silly. Stats show home schooled kids usually do far better. But, it was a nice try to disparage what Ducky's not familiar with....I guess it scares people, I never understand why. With our schools in the state they're in, you'd think they'd welcome a real education in SOME children.

CNN and the other idiots seem to be wishing for an attack that rivals or beats 911. They'll wish otherwise when it's their families.

Ducky...I'm hoping Boston gets smoked. Really. Time to start all over agin for you libtards.

I know when I'm being ignored.

As the saying goes:

is duhkkky right that they're incompetent boobs and we overreact

or is duhkkky right that

they're smart enough to know what's at Ft Meade and do something about it?

duhkkky can't have it both ways...either they're stupid and incompetent and we overreact or

they're so smart that we can divulge security and just trust that they already know it?

elmers brother said...

security measures

it's like the government announcing this week that part of the reason the panty bomber got on that plane was because he put a couple of more vowels in his name (he misspelled his name)

do you think that might be info that a al queda could use? I mean all they have to do is add a couple of more letters in their name and voila they're on an airplane that they wouldn't otherwise get on?

remember the saying "loose lips sink ships"

I believe it's part of the reason for the Cole bombing, someone tipped off Al queda indadvertantly about the time of the ships arrival

EB - What I think is that when everything is negative on one side, that can't be right.

I know that I was negative about W all of the time and looking back I see that couldn't have been right.

I would like to read some rational posts here instead of entirely negative ones.

I think Ducky has it right some of the time.

I think Z's blog and commenters have it right some of the time, maybe a lot of the time.

But I can never believe everything I read here. And I usually am right in thinking that what I read will be negative. Especially about Libs. Come on. How do you know that all libs are bad. Have you met them all. I'm not bad.

And I have trouble figuring out why I'm ignored but Ducky isn't.

Is it because I'm supposed to be the good guy and not stir things up? One of my NY resolutions was to stop b-k.

elmers brother said...

I think Ducky has it right some of the time.

please I'm curious about this instance...in what way is he right?

I'm not sure this is a right or left issue..this is a keep us all safe issue....an American issue.

duhkkky has a long history here of being snarky, nasty and in one instance supported a troll who made pedophilic remarks about my children. I have very little regard for him, but I wish him no ill.

He also makes stupid ad hominems like the one about homeschoolers and can't back up most of the s*it he says.

What about this comment that he left do you think is correct?

I'm not out to attack you, I'd just like some clarity about what you think he said in this particular comment that you think is correct.

elmers brother said...

And I have trouble figuring out why I'm ignored but Ducky isn't

well I didn't ignore you.

and if strong opinions upset you all I can say is that when I first started blogging I felt a lot like you did BUT now I can learn a lot, not always be right and accept that there are others who are going to disagree with me.

elmers brother said...

What I think is that when everything is negative on one side, that can't be right.

I tend to agree to some degree with you. What you're seeing from a lot of right leaning blogs are a backlash to the awful treatment W got.

The calls for civility NOW are falling on a lot of dear ears because the other side couldn't be reasonable when W was in office.

That's my opinion and I try not to jump on every bandwagon that expresses disgust with Obama. That and a $1.25 will get you a cup of coffee.

sue said...

EB - I understand what you are saying about backlash. I admit that I came down hard on Bush. But if I had it to do over I still wouldn't like him.

But where does backlash get you. It's a matter of crediblity. If you trash someone comepletely, then there is unbelievablity. I think I would be shocked if I read something fair about Obama here.

Z - 'Ducky, be above name calling'

Is that a new policy on your blog?
I remember that you didn't object when Pinky called me an a--hat.

Z said...

Sue, I just wrote a very long comment and it wouldn't print..something about HTML and I don't understand it.
Anyway, suffice it to say I hadn't ignored you...my comment "No, it's never a good idea to go into great detail on television about which ports are more vulnerable and why and how they can get around what we ARE doing.
How is that a good idea?" was to you.
Elmer's Brother's doing a much better job than I did in my comment, anyway.
My main point being best made by him when he said we should never have announced to the world that this guy was able to slip through probably because his name was misspelled..That is REALLY a terrible bit of information to tell guys with names like that.....very dangerous, don't you agree, Sue?

Z said...

Sue, I just saw your comment before mine...
I very recently told Chuck at his blog and maybe even had it somewhere here that I thought Obama was FINALLY getting the terror thing and that listing countries so full of terrorists they can't come in here was a great idea. I do give credit where credit's due.
That I disagree VERY VERY VERY much with most of Obama's stuff is one reason you might feel I'm unfair, but I have to judge on my scale and, so far, he's failing miserably on most things I hold near and dear.

I don't want to reinvent the wheel here and list every grievance but it started with his telling our nation he only knew Ayers from living in the same neighborhood. That was a LIE and we so soon found out and still people didn't care. That bothers me. Lots bothers me about him.

I mentioned here (and got KILLED for it by commenters) that I wept when i watched Obama's name read as the nominee at the Dem convention...I wept to see young black Americans so thrilled, it was wonderful to see. I don't agree with him, I didn't like how he treated Joe the Plumber for merely asking a civil question, I don't like SO much that happened in the campaign, but my heart was touched by those kids and I had hope.

That's gone now. But, I remain ever vigilant for some things I'll agree with...and welcome them. This country MUST start coming before partisanship.

Z said...

by the way, Sue..Jen will tell you I did talk to her via private email about 'asshat'...
Maybe I should have said something here; for that, I'm truly sorry.

Ducky and Sue - about that Jihadist phone use being announced, guess what, they started using disposable cellphones. A little tougher to track wouldn't you say?

Also, what does knowing our coastal geography have to do with what's being done or not done to protect our ports? I know let's just tell them in case they don't know! Get real.

Here's a sure bet. The enemy listens to everything we make public. Unfortunately the media are as clueless as you are, and that's giving them the benefit of the doubt.

One thing the enemy's good at, and that's propaganda. All this talk about Gitmo being a recruiting tool is a laugh. They'll use anything as a recruiting tool. They'll twist and turn anything to their advantage if they can.

For instance, when we move those Gitmo detainees to the US, I believe it'll go something like this:

"The great Satan is changing their plans. We have them on the run. They change their plans because they're afraid.
We will now be in their homeland, and protected by their Constitution, and away from their military."

Sue - you see I didn't ignore you.

Under Obama we are more and more taking a defensive stance, instead of offensive. This is not a secret, it's talked about everyday. It's obvious, Obama is loathe to go on full pre-emptive attack. Unmanned drones aren't enough, and aggressive enhanced interrogation has worked, but no more do we have that.

Obama's chilled the CIA and all intelligence services. I have no doubt, those working in that field are hesitant to own any definitive or credible info info for fear of ramifications down the road, since the specter of possible retroactive prosecutions are hanging over their heads. Instead of lauding their work he vilifies it.

Well, it wasn't the intelligence services who suggested civilian trials was it? It wasn't the intelligence services who demanded Miranda rights for these butchers, was it? It wasn't intelligence sevices who demanded shutting down Gitmo, it was Hollywood dopes and the ACLU.

Does anyone here think any of that helps our troops in the field? It's their lives at risk everyday.

One thing is sure, the enemy doesn't need a Mata Hari, they have the NY Times and CNN!

Z - I appreciate that you said something about the a--hat remark to someone, but since you didn't say it on your blog it doesn't count.

I wrote you a happy birthday poem for which I saw no comment - unless I'm mistaken.

I do understand that you do not like Obama. When we intensely dislike someone then we can't see things rationally - sometimes. I'm sure that you have reason to dislike him, but I have a policy that if I like someone I don't dump them just because they are not doing well or are unpopular.

Another example of negativity is Drudgereport. I read it but I make myself aware of where he is coming from.

I only make these remarks about your blog because I like you and you do have a very good blog. If it were like some of the others, I wouldn't bother.

EB - I'm curious - if Ducky is all you say he is, then why bother with him. Remarks can be deleted and I'm sure if that were to happen he would get the idea and not come back. But from my viewpoint, he seems to be a source of amusement and is always well tolerated.

Sue - I was making an effort not to ignore you, and since you seemed to agree with Ducky, I answered you as well.

Also, since I'm not a mindreader how was I to know who you thought was ignoring you?

As for Z, she's nicer than I am. I wouldn't have apologized for a remark someone else made to you. I have the feeling you can take care of yourself. That's what we all have to do when we comment, why should you be an exception?

There isn't anyone here who hasn't had to take an unkind remark toward him/herself. How we deal with it is up to us.

I am SO damned sorry, Sue.. I even SENT IT TO PRIS in a private email and said how much I liked it! She'll attest to that!
You had every RIGHT to say I ignored you.

I loved the poem....I'm going to go publicly thank you THERE as I actually did forget to. Matter of fact, my Mom and 2 sisters took me to lunch yesterday and that's the reason I printed it out..to take it and read it to them because I loved the lib/conservative slant to it.
Of course, to be honest, I FORGOT TO TAKE IT WITH ME. GeeeeZ

Hey, I parked my car the other day and couldn't find it...so I think I'm just in a stress/grief mind thing that 'helps' me forget WAY too much; I don't LIKE and hope it GOES AWAY.

Ducky's the type of "gotta do something" diaper-pisser that cries for nuclear weapon radiation detectors in all of our port cities - you know, the detector that will clearly identify the presence of a bomb that will blow up the ship, the port, and the city around it maybe a few moments before it does.

Whatever you call that, it can't be honestly labeled within the realm of "thinking."

I don't think there is any "pro forma" way to stop a determined terrorist from attacking any target. Even an "unsuccessful" attack is still an attack.

Sure, "potential" targets can be hardened against attack and extra security precautions taken to reduce their chances and / or effectiveness, but there are no foolproof ways to achieve invulnerability.

Anyone with a flatbed truck and able to purchase pipe fittings from Home Depot and sugar from the grocery store (among other components I won't list here) can build "technicals" - mobile artillery rocket launchers just like HAMAS uses in the Gaza Strip - and randomly rain down explosives on targets up to 3 to 5 miles away.

(And you thought the DC "Beltway Snipers" were frightening)

What are we going to do? Stop selling trucks? Make sure people aren't buying sugar to make rocket fuel? Stop hardware stores from selling ductwork and plumbing pipes?

Upwards of 2 tons of demolition explosives are reported missing from construction sites and companies in the United States every year and have been for literally decades.

Pre-emptive and proactive measures are nice, but the sober realization is, if someone is dead set on committing an act of terrorism, you're pretty much resigned to react to it after it happens, and not before.

Facts on the ground - we're defenseless against crazy and stupid.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

"The great Satan is changing their plans. We have them on the run. They change their plans because they're afraid.

I see it slightly differently. We move terrorists from Gitmo to federal penitentiaries, and maybe even keep them there until their bones stink, but this does nothing about the other prisoners that they come in contact with that may or may not be released from prison after their time is served (I know, prisoners converting to Islam in prison never happens... er, uh)

We're fighting an ideology held by people willing to die for that ideology. Whatever "inspiration" drawn from "martyrs" of the jihad against civilization must be faced with a counter-point: dead people can't be terrorists, and they can't celebrate terrorist acts.

Gitmo detainees and the societies making "martyrs" of them should face only one thing - execution, and extermination.

We're in a "4th Generation War" model only because we choose to be.

Destroy nations, not nationalities. 3rd Gen warfare.

We knocked Iraq over - the Al Qaeda dream of a new Baghdad caliphate - for now can't happen. Al Qaeda ideology has been debunked in that regard. Now they're taking their "call to jihad" out mostly on fellow Muslims around the world that didn't answer that call, or running off on revenge trips to strike America for killing their leaders on Yemeni soil, their ideological focus factionalizing and marginalizing further into incoherent yet still dangerous tangents. For the most part, Al Qeda has FAILED to unite the whole of Islam, even a significant fraction of Islam, against anything.

That isn't to say Islam isn't a intolerable threat (it is, and I say that heavy-hearted and firsthand as one with a little sister who became a convert). It is, ultimately, a religion of self-justification. Rationality never entered the building. Beating someone down and taking their stuff and calling it Allah's reward to you is the core of that theology, after all. There's no way to make them feel guilt or remorse.

There is a way to make them think twice about pulling that crap in the real world, and that is one hell of a violent response to it each time it rears its head.

Please reference Madrid and London before annotating just what we are reveling to "the terrorists".

Beamish - Yes I certainly can't argue with that. Prison is a recruiting haven for the Jihadist element of Islam. You're right.

I feel more cautious however about your comment that the Jihadis have not united worldwide Islam.

I tend to believe that so-called moderates, if Islam gains in enough numbers in any country, would go along with the radical element either out of belief, or fear. I think it's still too soon to say with certainty, that unity in higher, more threatening numbers is a failure.

Ducky, it doesn't take a great deal of restraint for the media to omit details such as "twice the number of passengers", or "far less protection".

Madrid and London happened some years ago. I would hope those targets have been more hardened by now.

The bottom line is, we talk too much about our plans and vulnerabilities concerning terrorist activities. It isn't rocket science, it's common sense, something which you can't seem to grasp.

Pris, you make good points. Details are NOT helpful and that some Liberals don't get that is pretty indicative of something everyone should be aware of.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

Ducky,

Does anyone reasonably believe that terrorists don't recognize mass transit as a high priority target.

Of course mass transit is a high priority target. Terrorists like to kill people in quantity and volume. Been doing so since your fellow leftists stood in solidarity with them in the airplane hijackings of the 1970s.

Israel (that country full of the Jewish people that leftists and Muslims ideologically hate the most) frequently had sucide bombers attacking their bus lines.

Now, given that mass transit is a "high priority target" for terrorists, do you think it's a good idea for terrorists to be informed which "high priority target" is the most vulnerable to attack?

Forgive me ahead for using the "do you think" phrase out of the context of the known inability of leftists to do so.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

Ducky,

Apparently it isn't "commonly understood" if thanks to the media it becomes widely know where counter-terrorism security vulnerabilities are specifically located.

I realize you have to leave the state of Massachussetts to encounter triple-digit IQs outside of MIT, but security vulnerabilities at Logan International were widely publicized for years before 9/11.

Why do you think most of the 9/11 terrorists got on planes with boxcutters there instead of another airport?
