Take a few minutes off today........on me!

Doesn't seem much like a birthday without Mr Z but I have to say my family and friends have been amazing. I looked through my pictures for a shot by Mr Z but found this instead; I was looking for something very peaceful, very tranquil and happy to post today and found the photo above. Maybe this will be a nice relief to those of you snowed in across the country. Maybe it'll just make us all take our minds off what's happening to America these days just for a few minutes. Have a great day.
Okay...I just saw Beamish's blog and can't resist a little politics...check out his latest post. EXCELLENT thinking there and you really should check it out.

God Bless you, Z especially on this day. Thank you for that tranquil pic! Where is the scene from, if I may ask?

Z said...

thanks, everybody. Your wishes mean a lot to me and I'm glad you're enjoying that beautiful scene.

David, that picture was apparently taken somewhere in Germany.

Yes, a good day to relax!

Happy Birthday, even though a great big something is missing. :)

Z - I love the picture. In fact it's kinda weird, but I had started a painting a couple of days ago that could easily be this picture. I printed it out.

Here's a birthday poem for you:

~I'm not sure how long I've known you, Z

~It must be more than a year

~We've had our ups and downs, Z

~But now to me you are quite dear.

~Yes, you may be Conservative, Z

~And me - well, I tend to lean the Liberal way

But that won't stop me from wishing you, Z

~~~~HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODAY~~~
(remember that today is the first day of the rest of your life!)
Happy Birthday. I know it is a sad one, and you feel lonely and everything is different. Nothing I can say will change that.
But you do have friends, family, and memories of the great life you two had together. He would want you to be happy and rejoice that you have another year to live. Another year to enjoy this beautiful world.
Happy birthday and many more!
(That image looks so warm. And here I sit in Tennessee with snow on the ground and temperature 13.)
Happy Birthday, dear friend.
I know that this day is difficult for you without Mr. Z. Along those lines, I said a short prayer for you this morning.
Even though I don't really know you, I guess I virtually feel for you so much at this time in your life. I know it's not the same, but I feel for you nonetheless. I I hope you don't overlook your blog friends at this time because we are with you.
Z said...
cube, it's odd how close some of us are thought we are only 'virtual' friends, but there is a closeness, isn't there. Thanks for your words.
Debbie, thanks so much. Just got back from lunch with Mom and 2 sisters and a niece...very odd not having Mr. Z there but it was nice to be with happy family members.
Beamish. 27.
Always, thanks SO much...
tio..thanks. I should have had some mac and cheese today, huh?
As it is, the restaurant was i cugini in Santa MOnica which is usually great, but I had to send back the linguine/clams (WAY too much garlic and spice and I have probably sent something back twice in my life)..and then the rigatoni with eggplant was okay but they'd burned the garlic and proceeded to make the dish, so the eggplant tasted burned, too. Ah, well.
The peach Bellini made up for it (with ground frozen peach and peach liquore in the champagne..mmmmm)
Happy birthday, and God bless you.
Much love to you today, Z. Warm thoughts of Mr. Z, too. I know he's loving you on this day...
OOoooohhhweeee! A peach bellini? Your weather is different than mine. I'd make you an Irish coffee if you were here.
Anyway, I'm grateful that you were born on this day, 27 years ago!
Z,
Happy Birthday. I know Mr.Z is celebrating in heaven and is with you on your day. God bless.
FairWitness said...
Happy Brithday, Z! Glad your family and friends were there to celebrate you. Mr. Z was there, too, Z. He's looking down on you and sending you his love. Let it comfort you to know he's feeling great up there in Heaven, very happy, very much at peace and whole again. He is with God in His paradise. God bless you, dear lady.
By the way, Z, it is frigging freezing here in rural WV. Jeanie & I are up to our petoots in snow! And more is falling.... yuck, yuck and triple yuck!
The only decent weather in all of America is where you are. Enjoy!
An idyllic scene
Fresh, clean, wholesome and serene
Shows optimism.
White sails in the breeze,
Unlike white flags, never show
Surrender to grief.
Blue sky and water
Observed through a veil of trees
Restores faith in Life.
Happy Birthday, dear Z.
Z,
Oh well. Maybe that will give you a new idea for a food blog post: The most a meal has ever disappointed you. Happy birthday for another few hours.
FT...gorgeous verse..THANK YOU.
FairWitness, beautiful comment, I really appreciate it...and GOOD LUCK with the cold. I have to admit I heard yesterday our San Fernando Valley(just over the hill from West LA where I live) was the warmest spot in the country at 80 degrees! Don't throw things at me, but I LIKE COLD! (not the cold YOU are all getting, but SOME cold:-)
tio...not a bad idea.
Joe, my dear man...thanks.xxx
A belated birthday wish from me!
Z said...
thanks so much, everybody.
I did have a 'great birthday', Beamish...I was busy all day long..the stepkids, my family, then the stepkids again....a great day (we went to see YOUNG VICTORIA then we went to one of my favorite restaurants for dinner), but MAN, did it have tearful moments.
I'm just glad the funeral, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, my birthday are OVER.
The kids leave this week.......living alone again is something I never wanted to do. But, here I'll be.
Happy Birthday. You are a Carpricorn, like me. I'd bet we could butt heads over a few things, but still come out friends at the end. Hope you had a good day.
I'm sorry I missed your birthday, Z. Happy Birthday. And now comes the tough part, when you're no longer so distracted and actually alone with your own personal thoughts.
God bless you and keep you safe. And sane.
Sue..that is one of the nicest poems anybody's ever written for me. And I FORGOT to mention it here.
I printed it out, I sent it to Pris..I saved it in a GeeeeZ file of special comments and forgot to SAY ANYTHING HERE.
What you must have thought of me. I am SO SORRY.
Thank you, my friend....I am so grateful for it. You're dear to me, too. Honestly.
Z - Thank you for mentioning my poem, and for the apology.
It was written with only the best intentions - but that's all I can ever do.
Now let's continue on, and may you have many more happy birthdays!!!
Z - I also wanted to mention that I am planning to do a painting of the picture at the top of your birthday blog - with the sailboat.
I already have a fairly large canvas for it and purchased some paints that I thought would go well. I can't wait to get started.
