Then there are Harry Ried's latest words on his race scandal:

"I'll continue to do my work for the African-American community ... I'm not going to dwell on this any more," he added. You've got to love this guy if nothing else for the comic relief. Gee, would that all people embroiled in scandals just themselves decided "I'm DONE with it" and everybody followed suit! :-)

I added somewhere else today (in a comment below?) that some bigwig in the NAACP said on FOX this morning that "when Obama speaks to white audiences, HE SPEAKS 'WELL'...but he can talk to black audiences, too" Speak WELL when talking to WHITES? Isn't that almost as bad as what Harry Reid said?!!

No dignity. NONE.

But it is BAD!

Sue......sometimes it stuns me that people absolutely can't seem to GET OVER COLOR. It's why I HATE the term "african american"...we are ALL AMERICANS and we are only differing shades of Americans.
Black leaders need to encourage their kids (that's why I was SO dismayed that obama didn't take the chance of giving a REAL teaching moment when that black honors kid in Chicago was killed 3 months or so ago...what a great lesson he could have had there)...they need to convince them they are EQUAL, not NEEDING MORE...my black friends DESPISE affirmative action!

Anyway..we're all so fearful of saying ANYTHING on the subject, and that doesn't help much, either.
I hate people who play the victim and admire those who don't. Of all colors. BE WHAT YOU ARE. And, those of you who are NOT "THAT"? STOP THE INSULTS.

impossible to top beamish - or z. so i won't even try. i'll just put in my boring 2¢ worth.

i'm so sick and tired of political correctness. that's what all this is.

if a conservative says something that those in the media and/or on the left can someone cock their heads in just the right manner and twist the words to mean something that was never said the person who spoke is a racist - trent lott is a good example. it's even worse when the conservative comes right out and says something blatantly in poor taste. in either case there is no amount of apologizing, grovelling or butt kissing that can make it all go away. that person is finished. caput. in the toliet. however, if one of their own, their anointed says something so out rageous that even some of their own constituents sit up and take notice, it's all ok.

the reason is that it's all about power. about the power of liberalism. and that dream becomes a reality [in part] by enforcing political correctness. if there are transgressions by their own, they are forgivable so that the business of acquiring power can continue - but for their opponents and enemies it is a way to shut them down so that the acquisition of power can continue.

as for how ridiculous we've become with pc in this country, remember the torchings of cars and the violence that went along with it? the violence that was primarily perpetrated by black muslim youths? here on every news cast in america, i listened to the talking heads refer to these people as "african american youths". how can black muslims, living in paris, be reasonably called "african american"? ugh!

sue said...

beamish - Once in a while I can come up with something clever for a comment, but I am limited in that field.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

Z,

"Equal opportunity racist?" Yee-owtch.

I'm not any kind of racist. My family reunions literally look like United Nations General Assembly meetings. Whites, blacks, native Americans, latinos, Pacific islanders... I am America's melting pot.

Back when my hometown of Birmingham, Alabama was known as "Bombingham" due to the Klan violence my grandfather's shop was burned to the ground by DemoKKKrats because he was a Republican party organizer that dared to help black people register to vote and employ them in his business teaching them electronics repair. My grandfather never financially recovered from that attack on his business. Thanks, Democrats.

So I have to laugh at white Democrat liberals nightriding in save America from the actual racism Republicans fought for well over 100 years before it ever occured to a Democrat that it was safe to drink from the same water fountain as a black man.

Oh, but making joke in Ebonics is far more "racist" than burning a man's business down for offering a helping hand to the black community. F-that.

Truth be told, the only people I DESPISE AND HATE in this world are racists. The one thing all racists have in common is that they're left-wing.

Z,

My comment was in bad taste (all humor is based in cruelty, to a degree, even laughing at someone slipping on a banana peel). Shock value has its place, maybe this wasn't it. But it was interesting to see who it made flinch though, wasn't it?

MK's right. I live in a city (St. Louis) with two sometimes violently opposite political parties (white Democrats and black Democrats) in a state (Missouri) governed by a former Democrat attorney general who's claim to fame is that he was still fighting desegregation of public schools in the 21st Century.

Suspicions are confirmed daily. Obama won the Democrat Presidential candidate nomination despite Hillary Clinton winning all of the delegates based on popular votes, because their well-worn race card finally got played against them. We knew it wouldn't take long for the national party to schism when the cross-burners at the top got their voices back.

Harry listed all the magical negroes holding his "get out of racism, free" cards at a press conference at a power plant in Nevada yesterday. They included the likes of President Barack Obama, Julian Bond and Attorney General Eric Holder, who called to offer to make some calls if Reid ran into more "racist flak" than he could handle.

Isn't being a political party hack like Harry Reid, GREAT! Of course, it only help's if your magical negroes are light skinned and can speak w/o any silly negro accents, so that whites can understand them when they deliver your "get out of racism, free" cards, for Harry wouldn't want to embarrassedly have to call on the inarticulate likes of Jim Clyburn or John Lewis to deliver a mumbling, shuffling half a get-out-of-racism-free card....

btw - Harry is looking for a whole new cast of magical negroes to cover his overt racial bigotry. Do YOU have what it takes? Only light skinned and articulate speakers w/o negro accents need apply.

FJ...it honestly does feel that it's the left which is SO racist; but, they depend on handouts to those THEY think can't make it without those handouts for VOTES, and they rely on their leaders (Jackson, Sharpton) to keep some black Americans (i'm generalizing, of course to make a point) believing they need freebies, too...it's an ugly situation which won't improve until THE BLACK LEADERS WHO USE THEIR PEOPLE LIKE PIMPS get OUT OF THE WAY. Then, and only then, will black Americans finally take their place in the American dream.

I don't KNOW a racist, do YOU? So, who the heck's keeping anybody DOWN but those who NEED them down so they vote "GIMME!"

I once asked a very powerful Wash. atty how the heck Jesse Jackson supports himself..this was years ago that I asked and I've seen it confirmed since; He told me it's well known that he gets called by Coca Cola bottling plants, for example, saying the people are getting testy and want improved conditions, raises, etc....they hire Jackson to come in, silence the natives somehow, and off he goes...with huge bucks. The people saw their hero and everybody's happy. Who knows what he promises them...maybe pennies on the dollar of what they'd requested, etc. he's become quite wealthy this way.
WHICH STINKS>

I sense in these comments near the end that white Americans are angrier and more frustrated at black pimp politicians keeping blacks DOWN than black Americans are...except for my few black conservative friends who've been giving me those comments by FJ and Beamish and MK's for years. They were right.

heidianne jackson said...

sue, gwb may have been the master of mispronunciation, malapropisms and split verbs, but obama is incapable of speaking without a script.

obama doesn't know how many states we have in our country. he has reduced the retirement holdings of many, many citizens of gm stock by 90% and handed over controlling interest of gm to a union. he thinks it's cool to make fun of the special olympics. he embarrased the entire u.s. TWICE with... our oldest ally (england) by giving cheap dvd's - that brown can't even watch - to gordon brown and an ipod filed with videos of himself to the QUEEN. he has bowed to other heads of states (and not of close allies either) thereby showing he thinks we are below these other countries, including saudi arabia. he thinks there is an "austrian language". he doesn't know it's cinco de mayo - he referred to a number of times as cinco de cuatro. he mis-spelled "advice". he has offended two of our best allies - the czech republic and poland - in order to appease russia and iran. and the list goes on and on and on.

if gwb had done any ONE of these things, we would never have heard the end of it. instead, these things are "spun" at best (and ignored at worst) by the msm and everyone on the left.

i will happily take gwb with his mispronunciations and malapropisms and split verbs any day of the week and twice on sundays over any single person in the obama administration - including congress.

beamish - My point was that there are complaints about Obama's dignity. I do not recall dignity as part of George Bush's tenure. He was a good ole' boy and not that smart.

sue said...

z and hj - a time when Bush showed no dignity: all of time.

He started a war because of WMD which didn't exist and proclaimed it ended (mission accomplished) way before the end. In fact someone else is mopping up after him now.

Shortly after he left office he was sixth from the bottom in a survey of presidents.

When he went to check out New Orleans after Katrina, he regaled the people with tales of his good ole' college days - at a time when he should have been serious.

Sue - Bush most certainly conducted himself with dignity. I don't remember him complaining and whining about how a news outlet wasn't fair, or was anti Bush.
I call that dignity.

In answer to the question, "how do you feel about your critics, and what they say about you", he said "those people have the right to express themselves. This is a free country".
I call that dignity.

He rose above pettiness, and personal attacks, with aplomb. I call that dignity.

I don't remember Bush ever being accused of "going after" anyone. I call that dignity.

And what makes you think, "a good ole boy", can't have dignity?

There were times I actually wished Bush wasn't such a gentleman. But he was and is, a dignified, honorable man.

The facts hurt, I know....the FEDs are not legally ABLE to go into a State and take over without the state ASKING FOR HELP. They DIDN'T but Bush asked them too, Sue. But, our media will never tell us that.
Why Bush didn't SHED some of that amazing dignity and demand more truths be told is beyond me.

How he restrains himself from telling this dope president who couldn't speak for two minutes off teleprompter yesterday (uhhh...duhhhh) what he's doing WRONG and to PLEASE START LOVING THIS COUNTRY AND SHOWING IT is beyond me, too.

(oh, those big brave liberals)...he smiled wanly and said "You know, they have every right.." That is most certainly dignified.

This president NOW? get GIBBS on them! Get that communist Van Jones in charge of dissing the Republican media now on them! INSULT Joe the Plumber because he asked a simple question! LIe about Ayers, lie about Wright, lie about the stimulus, lie about CSPAN showing TRANSPARENCY (8 times, by the way)..lie, lie, lie..and STILL people like him. That's how utterly LOW we've sunken in this country.

Heck, I'm still waiting to hear what church they attend (Oh, I remember, it's BUSH'S CAMP DAVID CHURCH, we'll they're safe there, nobody can see them not going)....I don't believe every president needs to go to church OR tell us, but my point is don't use that BS line about "Gee, that'll inconvenience people who go to that church" but take your wife to NYC with 6 jets and gridlock on the island because Michelle needed to see a show.
MAN. Just MAN.

Pris and Z - And you both are:

Conservative. So that makes a difference.

heidianne jackson said...

sue, what difference does it make if we're conservatives, or liberals, or one-eyed, one-horned flying purple people eaters? does the definition of dignity change based on your political affiliation?

when i go to my dictionary - admittedly it is a webster's dictionary from 1828 (not a typo) - and look up dignity it says for the top definition "consisting of a high sense of propriety, truth and justice, with an abhorrence of mean and sinful actions; opposed to meanness."

when i go to dictionary.com and look up the same word it say "bearing, conduct, or speech indicative of self-respect or appreciation of the formality or gravity of an occasion or situation." seems pretty similiar to the one above to me.

btw, i see no notation of the meaning varying based on one's being a conservative.

Anonymous said...

"Pris and Z - And you both are:

Sue - Well yes maybe that does make a difference. I guess conservatives are more dignified. Thanks.

Pris

Pris - You are welcome. That is exactly what I meant.

Z said...

really, Sue? Does nothing of what I've said, or Pris or Heidianne have ANY bearing in the world today? NOTHING is just plain correct, it's only because we're Conservatives?

sue said...

hj - It does make a difference. If you are Conservative you believe in Conservative ideals.

This blog is Conservative and all of the commenters - with the exception of maybe two - respond in a way that is Conservative.

It is very predictable.

sue said...

Z - Of course the things that you say have a bearing in the world - to the people that think like you.

Don't you know that I think that what I say has a bearing in the world? It just doesn't mean anything to you and Pris, or anyone else on your blog.

Because you have a different way of thinking and believing.

Z said...

No, SUe, we're talking about decency here, like a president who has his people insult to the Nth degree a simple man like Joe the Plumber for having asked a question.
I know liberals who were appalled at that.

On the other hand, we're talking about a president who took terrible and constant insults as a man and figured it's the right of every American to criticize their leader. Not a man who gets his attack dogs on anybody who dares criticize.
Taking things like a man shouldn't be just conservative, should it?

We're talking about a man who was at Ft Hood to console our troops before Obama'd commented on it. That's dignity, Sue. Liberals I know thought that was nice of him. They also were surprised to find out, after he was out of office, how many times he went without media to see our fallen soldiers.

What would you say are Conservative Ideals? And what would be Liberal Ideals?

heidianne jackson said...

sue, based on the dictionary definitions of the 'dignity', i'm pretty certain that obama has displayed little, if any, of that quality. it is only that you are a liberal and don't like conservatives that you want to pretend that obama's undiginified behavior is OK and maybe even preferred, because he is a liberal.

words mean something. you can't just change the meaning to suit your viewpoint when the definition does you no benefit.

sue said...

Z - If you spoke to a Christian he might say: Jesus Christ died, was buried, rose from the dead and ascended into heaven and sitteth at the right hand of the Father.

Because that is a fundamental belief of Christians.

What I have heard here today and everyday are the things that are fundamental beliefs of Conservatives. I have not learned anything new.

That's what I mean when I say that it is all about Conservatives.

Heidianne Jackson: Although I'm sure I won't convince you of this, it is not true that I don't like Conservatives. My entire family and friends are Conservatives. And even if that were not true I can assure you that I am not the kind of person that lumps people together and then likes or dislikes them. I like people for what they are as individuals.

But as I said, I'm sure you won't belive that.

What I say here is only to show you how what you say sounds to me.
You don't see what you say the same as I do.

Z said...

Sue, so, nothing anybody can tell you can do anything to change an opinion you hold?
I absolutely listen to all sides and try to decide what's best; I don't think "That's a liberal idea, I hate it purely because it's liberal." I don't like everything conservative, either.

I'd still very much appreciate hearing your take on Conservatism v LIberalism, though......that might help both of us understand each other better.

heidianne jackson said...

sue, i have no preconceived notion of whether you like conservatives or not. i would assume you are like most people and have friends and relatives from all realms of the political spectrum. but my point still stands. meanings of words do not change because of your political affiliation.

you clearly do not like anything about gwb. and therefore, based on your FEELINGS for george bush, you will not concede that he did anything right.

there are many, many, many things i did not like about gwb. just as there are many thing i don't like about obama. but the double standard being applied between obama (and everyone in this current administration) gwb is over the top and disgusting.

it is fine that you did not like bush. it is NOT fine that you can hold him to a different standard of propriety to obama. and that, sue, is exactly what you are doing.

Z said...

right, Heidianne.

Plus, Sue...you don't really think I come on this blog thinking "Well, I don't like THAT idea BUT it's CONSERVATIVE so I'm going to tout it!", do you?

We THINK HERE. Yes, we're informed by our conservatism; love of freedom and small government, love of the constitution, believing in self reliance and not believing the gov't should tell us how much to eat or what to eat, etc., , kindness and help to others given on our volition, hoping children aren't tainted by very liberal views regarding morality, hoping to uphold Judeo-Christian principles on all things, protecting our country and erring on OUR SIDE to do so, admiration for pomp and ceremony in regard to the White House and all things American..etc etc.

Heidianne can fill in more...I took a stab but those things are CONSERVATISM ....
How are ANY of those BAD?

elmers brother said...

btw Sue, duhkkky makes obama look like a Reagan conservative

sue said...

Z and hj: What you say is all very good. But do you deny that you embrace everything about Conservatism. Do you deny that I cannot read on your blog anything that is contrary to Conservatism.

And do you not make derogatory remarks about Liberals, and even meaningless jokes, just to further the cause of conservatism.

I do not care about the remarks about Liberals. I do not like to have the label 'Liberal' attached to me. But I do know this, on the basis of what I know about Conservatives, and that includes all of my family and friends and this blog, I would not want to be one.

However, I like Z, and some of the others on her blog, in spite of their beliefs. And I certainly like my family, and they are quite conservative.

I cannot emphasize enough: The way I perceive this blog, and these people, is not the way they see themselves, I am sure. And sometimes I cannot believe the things that come out of their mouth. And their attitudes.

As for George Bush, my dislike for him started when I found out that in spite of his royal entrance into this world, he chose the wider gate. And I do not believe that his reasons for becoming president were justified.

As for Obama, he certainly had a harder childhood and I voted for him, I will support him in the hope that he will do better.

heidianne jackson said...

those are GREAT examples miss z! the only things that i would add forthwith would be an absolute belief in the constitution AS WRITTEN and the determination of what is in keeping with that document by using the founders' documents and those documents they enumerate in their documents to decipher it. documents such as the declaration of independence, the federalist papers, the anti-federalist papers, the magna carta and so on and so forth. additionally i would add that (as mlk, jr. - a great conservative said) that people would be judged on their merit with no regard to skin color or sex (or sexual orientation for that matter). and we want people - who are able even if they may need a bit of temporary help from the community NOT from the government - to stand on their own two feet. oh, one more thing. we want a free market.

in short, we want to be able to live our lives as we see fit without interference from the government for "my own good" or "the good of the community" or "because it's the humane thing to do."

every single time government inserts itself into things that are outside of the constraints of the constitution NO GOOD HAS COME FROM IT. none.

we've been "waging a war against poverty" for how many years now? and what has been the result of that - less poor? no, more poor.

we have been "waging a war against drugs" for almost as long. do we have less drug use now than we did 20 years ago? um, no.

the list goes on and on. government cannot fix problems nor should they try to.

free people can and do.

heidianne jackson said...

sue, i'm not sure how to respond to you. i have never learned how to debate people's beliefs and feelings. i'm fairly certain that it isn't possible.

i'm talking about facts and you're not even in the same book with me, let alone on the same page. i am an artist AND a business person.

however, i do not allow my artist side to rule my brain. and when we're talking about what we like versus what is right or wrong, we're talking about feelings and emotions and that sort of thing. that is not the way to make decisions for a business or a government.

i don't know what you mean when you say "in spite of his royal entrance into this world, he chose the wider gate." and as for his reasons for becoming president, what do you mean by "jutified"? seems to me his reasons for wanting to be president were no more or less than anyone else's reason for wanting to president. but i would LOVE to hear your pov.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

He started a war because of WMD which didn't exist and proclaimed it ended (mission accomplished) way before the end. In fact someone else is mopping up after him now.

The Iraq War came in response to Saddam Hussein's repeated violations of the Safwan cease-fire signed by Iraq at the end of the Persian Gulf War and subsequent UN Security Council resolutions on disarmament and inspections, and Saddam Hussein's support for terrorism. American, British, and French planes patrolling the UN authorized "no fly zones" in Iraq were fired upon some 10,000 times over the course of the period between the Persian Gulf War and the Iraq War. Clear violations of the Safwan cease-fire. The Iraq War is the continuance of the Persian Gulf War after that cease-fire agreement was broken, null, void.

As far as WMD not existing, this is a laughable claim at best and a lack of technical knowledge at worst, given the discovery of tens of thousands of chemical weapons precursors buried and stockpiled in Iraqi military installations never disclosed to UN inspectors. These were reported by the media as "pesticides" - despite the fact that placing these chemicals in the binary chemical artillery shells they were stored with to mix them in flight will produce the very same sarin gas used to massacre the Kurds. Several Marine and Army units, as well as reporters embedded with them, had to be treated for sarin gas exposure cleaning up these stockpiles. I have a cousin in the Army that was involved in the retrieval and destruction of these very real chemical weapons of mass destruction. He'd dare you or anyone else that claims "no WMDs were in Iraq" to bathe in them, and he'd not be very nice about it.

On terrorism, one of the big screaming mad rants of Al Gore during his campaign to become Vice-President in 1992 was that Saddam Hussein should have been toppled by the Persian Gulf War because of his support for international terrorism. He was, of course, refering to Sunni terrorists in the Baluchistan province of Iran on Iraq's payroll. You may recognize the name of one of them - Khalid Shiekh Muhammad, planner of the 9/11 attacks. Several Baluchistani terrorists were commanders in Al Qaeda's operational leadership heirarchy, and were captured after their locations were discovered after the US Army captured information stored in Iraq's intelligence services headquarters. Any real "war on terrorism" that didn't take out Saddam Hussein would be like a compilation list of "greatest rock stars" that didn't include Elvis.

On "Mission Accomplished" - this was a homecoming banner on the returning USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, in reference to the end of the mission of that aircraft carrier and its participation in hostilities between US and Iraq military forces. It signaled only the end of the conventional pahse of the war, after Saddam's military was defeated. Only a blithering idiot would conflate "end of mission" for a military unit with "end of war" for all military involved.

When he went to check out New Orleans after Katrina, he regaled the people with tales of his good ole' college days - at a time when he should have been serious.

I'd say he was far more serious than the corrupt Mayor Nagin who had police officers on the payroll and disaster relief supplies that existed only on paper, who had 2 weeks notice to evacuate New Orleans yet left hundreds of buses to be flooded. Not to mention Governor Blanco who didn't even activate her National Guard units until the hurricane struck (Pascagoula, Mississippi - 150 miles away). Why is it that the Republican governors of Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida had disaster preparations on standby and evacuation resources active and implemented two weeks before Katrina hit Mississippi?
There was incompetence in the Katrina response, but it wasn't Bush's.

Heidianne - You say that you do not know how to debate someone's beliefs and feelings, and that the way I talk is not the way to make decisions for a business or government.

I am totally made up of feelings and beliefs. I have had very little experience in the world of business or government. I am also an artistic person - painting, piano and writing. And especially when I paint, I am constantly thinking about all of this, politics, religion, people, the world, this is my realm. In fact, I am constantly thinking about these things all of the time. I may not come across to you as a person of depth, but believe me, I am. If you were to read my comments from the time I started on Z's blog, you would see that what I say is true.
My comments rarley deal with the facts as the others do.

But just as the facts are important, I believe that I am important in the way I think, about how things should be, and how people treat one another. This is what I have tried to get across to Z, that I may have something different, but important to offer to her blog.

My comment about George Bush was cryptic. When I said 'his royal entrance to the world' and that he 'took the wider path,' I was talking about that he was born into the Bush family and thus wealth and power. And he chose to run around with the guys, drinking, up until the time he had his girls. It was Laura who told him to chose between her and the booze, and it was his influential parents who called in Billy Graham to convert him. Granted, he did give up drinking and became a Christian, I'll give him that, but I see someone who made bad decisions early in his life when he could have done better.

Although he did well as Texas governor, being President of the United States, as you know, is a whole different thing. I can't see that he should have been elected, but he was.

As a person, I don't doubt that he is a good husband and father, and I would probably like him if I met him, but I can't imagine that I would change my mind otherwise.

beamish - I was a good military wife for 20 years, and have been active in troop support.

However, I believe that these smaller wars are not always necessary. After 9/11 there seemed to be a need for a war to do something to make up for the attacks.

These wars are allowed to drag on, into another presidency, and then we have a surge and after that send a large amount of troops over.
I believe that the wars drag on because the politicians don't want to take a chance on losing votes.

And I also believe that the generals want to have wars to justify their careers.

My husband is a Vietnam Vet, but he knows how I feel about that one.

You can say that the lack of response for Katrina was no fault of Bush's, but then you support him, don't you.

Shortly after he left office he was sixth from the bottom in a survey of presidents.

Polling of approval of Obama's job performance, the percentage of those that "strongly disapprove" sits now higher than Bush's "strongly disapprove" rating EVER was in 8 years of office.

Do you, Sue, let this poll think for you as well?

sue said...

beamish - I am well aware that Obama has a low approval rating.
But I liked Bush much less from the beginning than I did Obama.
It's not over yet, is it. If he fails in his first four years and is not re-elected, then he is a failure.

But if Obama fails as president, that will not change any part of my opinion of Bush. It is two separate things. See?

I will never change how I feel about Bush. And I will never change how I have already felt about Obama.

sue said...

beamish - It did not get past me that you said 'did you let this poll think for you too.'

I know that is a gimmick that commenters use. It is not intelligent commenting.

heidianne jackson said...

sue, i don't believe i have indicated in any manner that you are not a person of great depth. and i too, paint, write and do other things of an artistic nature; however, these are not pursuits that should control anyone's decision making.

there are manything things that i FEEL and wish and hope for. but, sue, i cannot make decisions based on these things. i must look at the facts - and anyone who wants to be taken seriously in the offering of alternatives must do the same.

the IDEA of welfare (and socialism in general) is so wonderful and so warming, but it is wholly incompatible with freedom and liberty. you cannot give people a handout and say that they are free - they are not. they are slaves just as surely as any slaves that were owned by an individual at any time or in any place in history and the world.

you claim to be a christian - how do you reconcile the teachings of the bible with the beliefs you put forth (and sue, i've been around here for quite a while now and i've been reading your comments for a good while, too)? how do you reconcile paul and timothy's words to the thessalonians (sp?) in 2 thessalonias 3:10 with your belief in welfare?

how do you reconcile that god commands us to take care of our fellow man AND to render to unto caesar that which is caesar's and render unto god that which is god's? he does not in any way shape or form put any stock at all in the government as care takers, but rather that is the job of the people and the temples and the churches.

it is all well and good to become outraged at injustice - i do everyday. but in terms of what you want from our - the u.s.'s - government, to simply want people to change it to fit your ideals is wrong.

don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with your wanting to change things to be the way you want them to be. our founding fathers were quite intelligent and they recognized that from time to time people would want to change things with our foundation. so, in keeping with that, they put forth a process to allow us, their posperity, to do just that.

you want to change our form of government from republic to democracy? do it the way you're supposed to, in accordance with the constitution.

want to make it so that process isn't required? make the change within the constraints of the constitution. want to institution welfare, or institute government sponsored/run health care, or take over gm or issue "bailouts" or anything else that's been instigated since bho took office - DO IT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONSTITUTION.

the FACT of the matter is, that if anyone were to attempt to make these changes to accommodate bho's agenda within the process put forth in the constitution, it wouldn't happen. the majority of people in this country DO NOT WANT THESE THINGS. it none of these changes would ever be ratified.

and one more thing, sue, i get that it makes you feel better for the government to "help" people. but the FACT of the matter is, that our "poor" are far worse off now than when we started this war. because - like it or not - people who are given things (especially money) with no requirement for accountability and no requirement for earning it, have no gratitude for what they've received and no incentive to do anything that isn't required to keep getting their handout.

However, I believe that these smaller wars are not always necessary. After 9/11 there seemed to be a need for a war to do something to make up for the attacks.

9/11 came after several prior terrorist attacks on Americans by Al Qaeda and affiliated Islamic terrorist organizations (17 attacks, in fact, during the Clinton Administration)

The need for a war existed long before 9/11.

You can take the retarded, 30-second attention span leftist liberal view, or you can take a long term assessment of history, cause and effect, and be cognizant of history like a conservative.

These wars are allowed to drag on, into another presidency, and then we have a surge and after that send a large amount of troops over.

Nonsense. Wars aren't "allowed to drag on" nor are they "fought by numbers."

I believe that the wars drag on because the politicians don't want to take a chance on losing votes.

This belief is quite frankly Stupid with a capital S. Wars "drag on" because they're not episodes of MASH with commercial breaks.

And I also believe that the generals want to have wars to justify their careers.

This belief goes beyond Stupid and into offensively ignorant. Wars are not desired by anyone, certainly not those charged with fighting them. You really believe "the generals" are warmongers who just can't wait to go kill someone with the troops at their disposal?

This is a very bigoted, ignorant, undeniably STUPID anti-military belief. You don't support the military, at all. You're as much as calling them genocidal maniacs.

You can say that the lack of response for Katrina was no fault of Bush's, but then you support him, don't you.

My support or disapproval of Bush has nothing to do with an analysis of "what really happened."

Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida's governors activated their National Guard disaster response teams two weeks before Katrina hit Pascagoula, Mississippoi (virtually wiped it off the map, I know because I have cousins that work at the shipyards there)

In the meantime, Louisiana's governor DID NOTHING, even with Bush asking her if her state needed any assistance and the governors of Texas, Mississippi and Alabama offering to coordinate with her efforts. Louisiana's Governor Blanco chose partisanship over saving lives, rebuffing offers of assistance at every turn.

And at the local level in New Orleans, we find Mayor Nagin's disaster relief" stockpiles of food and medicine existed only on paper. We find that the city of New Orleans spending federal dollars to "pay" police officers that didn't actually exist. We find hundreds of buses that could have been used for evacuations in the 2 week notice that a hurricane was coming, sitting in a lot flooded up to their windows.

The President can only do so much without local and state cooperation. In Louisiana, in New Orleans, there was none.

In Mississippi, where the hurricane actually hit, competence reigned and people were evacuated to safety within a week of the hurricane making landfall.

I don't blame Bush for the incompetence of idiot Democrats in Louisiana because I support Bush, I don't blame Bush for the incompetence of Democrats in Louisiana because of facts on the ground.

Do me a favor, Sue. I'm really trying to make the Republican Party as idiot-free as possible. Keep voting for Democrats.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

It's odd that you take all this so personally. I'm sure George Bush is lying in the lap of Daddy's luxury while you defend him, and could care less about his ratings, since he will go down in history as a president, regardless of how bad he was. On a presidential poster, they all look equal, except for Abraham Lincoln and G. Washington.

As far as the wars go, you have branded yourself a hawk.

The only thing I change is the movies in my dvd player. I'm a pretty good artist, but I have no goals other than that. I'll leave that up to you Conservatives.

What's this about my Christianity?
I missed something there.

As far as the 'justification,' George Bush whooped it up with the boys, failed at his oil rig job,
had ownership of a baseball team, and as I mentioned, was a pretty good governor. But he should have stopped there. He was just trying to impress his daddy and do good like brother Jeb.

however, in a comment just a couple down you said "I will never change how I feel about Bush. And I will never change how I have already felt about Obama." - i missed that earlier. the second comment nullifies the first by your indication that you 100% close-minded and thus any further discussion is a waste of time.

enjoy your cocoon, sue. i'll leave you with the words of one of our founding fathers and waste no more of my time: "If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, go from us in peace. heidianne - I couldn't quite understand your comment about my belief in God - whether or not you doubt that it exists. It does, but I know that Liberals are not thought to love their country and that must apply to God also.

Well, isn't Bush a closed case. He has finished his two terms as president and what has happened will remain throughout history.

As far as my remarks about Obama and that I will always like what I have already liked about him, do not apply to how he finishes out his term.

And in the qutoe from Samuel Adams, what is this about 'loving wealth?' Where do you get that from my comments.

If you think my mind is closed, you should read Z's blog from my viewpoint. There are a lot of closed minds there.

As far as your wasting your time, you are very mistaken. With me time is never wasted. You just can't see through that Conservative

You said "I cannot emphasize enough: The way I perceive this blog, and these people, is not the way they see themselves, I am sure. And sometimes I cannot believe the things that come out of their mouth. And their attitudes."

you don't call that patronizing, Sue? GEE, we have different political opinions than you so WE DON"T SEE OURSELVES LIKE WE ARE??? My GOSH!
Yet you won't ever tell us what you think Conservatives are about....or why you're so enamored with being NOT CONSERVATIVE.

My GOD, have you ever gone on a liberal blog and seen the tone? Yet, you chide us for jokes about liberals? You'll never find anybody I blog with happy over the death of Ted Kennedy, for example...or joking about a sick liberal...they'll never have to shut down a Conservative blog because everybody's writing so gleefully that some lib died (like Huffington had to close when Tony Snow died so young).
Liberals constantly broadstroke conservatives as if you guys really buy into the Democrat nonsense that we're racist, we're not caring, you know all the left says..it's absolutely nuts, yet people actually believe it. It's kind of scary for America, in my opinion.

Man, Sue, do you REALLY not understand what happened with Katrina? That the FEDS are not ALLOWED to go in until the state ASKS FOR HELP..And Bush was ASKING to get them to let the FEDS help them? .... no, they said they could handle it themselves.
That's okay..your media doesn't tell you the truth if a Conservative won't look bad in it.
That's as silly as "Bush could have prevented 9/11 because he had some intel that PLANES WILL BE USED" I always wonder if Liberals think he should have shut down every airport in America forever or just till we killed every terrorist.

My commenters here are free to say what they wish, for the most part, and I"m tired of you condemning my blog for what you don't like. It's also a great way to get out of our asking you what liberals stand for and what you hate about Conservatives. Please go look at liberal blogs...it might open your eyes.

Not that you do any "lumping together" stereotypes, right?

beamish: Maybe you are intelligent, and maybe you are one of the stars of z's blog. But as I see it when you can no longer get someone to accept what you say you go ballistic. You say outrageous, stupid things.

And where does that get you. How does that win others over for Conservatism. Carry on, for you have a place here in Conservativeland.

It's one big happy family. Comment together, laugh together and make fun together. When that fails, bring on the harsh, insulting language. Now there's something intelligent.

It's not personal. You come from the left, the side of the political spectrum comprised totally and entirely of imbeciles.

Granted, you're not at pugnaciously stupid as Ducky, but you're damned close. When asked why you have so much contempt for Bush, you bring up that he was born into wealth?

That's a very petty and stupid reason to have contempt for someone, anyone.

When challenged on your beliefs and corrected with facts, you wither up and cry, and attack Z because posters (myself and others) have taken you to task and dismantled your views for the ignorant seething tantrums that they are.

You hate Bush and Republicans and conservatives because your television told you to.

That's sad. Pathetic.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

beamish: Maybe you are intelligent, and maybe you are one of the stars of z's blog. But as I see it when you can no longer get someone to accept what you say you go ballistic.

You ain't seen ballistic.

I believe conservatism, and to a larger degree libertarianism require intelligence. Neither vein of right-wing thought afford themselves well to imbeciles.

The exclusive, monopolized venue of stupidity is the left-wing. It is impossible for an intelligent person to be a left-winger. Not without discarding logic and reason and going on as you do, Sue, with "feelings" instead of facts.

So go ahead, believe employers should be taxed out of existence to pay for unemployemnt programs. Go ahead and believe fighting wars in Islamic countries will only create terrorists among people we shouldn't profile at the airport. Have a party with believing the government that is a slumlord with housing and a miser with welfare is going to be philanthropist with health care. It's your right to be stupid.

You're going to be told your stupidity is stupid and why it's stupid. That's how this works.

You say outrageous, stupid things.

Sue, it's comments of yours like this "Your comments only serve to make Z's blog look bad, unless, of course, this is typical style for Conservative blogs." that have finally got on my last nerve.

I don't believe my blog, or most Conservative blogs, deserve that kind of remark.

Some of your comments over the last months have felt like you look at Conservatives at my blog as some odd monkeys in a zoo that you come to peer at from time to time and it's been difficult for me to sustain an even keel but these last comments make me wonder why you'd ever come, as you've said, to get aggravated or feel insulted over and over again. There has been more than one time that you've commented you come to my blog and can't help yourself.....imagine how that felt to me? But, I ignored those remarks and I've enjoyed some of our conversations.

I'll just say again that I don't think you'd be insulted if you'd come with facts and figures about your beliefs.
For instance, why can't an informed liberal answer the following comment of Beamish's?

"So go ahead, believe employers should be taxed out of existence to pay for unemployemnt programs. Go ahead and believe fighting wars in Islamic countries will only create terrorists among people we shouldn't profile at the airport. Have a party with believing the government that is a slumlord with housing and a miser with welfare is going to be philanthropist with health care."

There are liberals who VOTE and can't come up with a debate for those points above..that's scary. there's a lot of good meat there to debate. It might have been fun and informative... and Beamish doesn't insult if people engage him in that way.

Take care.

Jen, honey, I wonder if you heard Prager yesterday? I was stunned to hear a male caller who said HE WAS A LIBERAL WICKEN married to a Christian who's now an Evangelical Christian Conservative 'because of listening to you, Dennis'.
My girlfriend Susie who was more liberal has also become a moderate Conservative after having listened to Prager on my prodding "Just try him, you'll like what he says, I promise"...et, voila. Mr. Z and I'd steal little glances at each other when we were with Susie and she'd say some Conservative thing without quite realizing what she was saying! Finally, she just gave up and said she gets it now :-). Still not a Christian, but I'm praying for her!

Stuff like that wicken's story knocks me out. I can only imagine Prager sitting there behind the mic thinking "Great, I'm a very solid and devout Jew and I turned a wicken into a Jesus follower" heh heh! But, he is now a voting CONSERVATIVE, so GOD BLESS PRAGER.

I tuned in late yesterday, Z. I heard him talking about striking a balance between preserving traditional marriage and gay rights.

Prager respects Christians, yet maintains his Judaism in the most dignified way. I just adore the man. He has such common sense and such a strong sense of right and wrong. He talks about issues that other talk show hosts don't and tends to not get hysterical. He also has the "male/female hour" and the "ultimate issues hour". I dig him. :-)

Z said...

Jen, I agree with you on Prager..excellent thinker, REALLY excellent.
He was a liberal in his youth and couldn't be anymore. I also respect deeply his level of faith in God.
And, yes, while a devout Jew,he certainly does respect Christians.
He speaks and gives classes on the Old Testament in L.A. quite frequently.
He and Mr. Z had quite some email exchanges from time to time...I have to admit Prager disappointed me in his inability to see Mr. Z's points about Europe and liberalism...(Prager thinks Europe's totally lost to liberalism and Mr. Z kept sending articles by excellent European conservatives...finally, he couldn't refute the amount of information Mr Z sent him but never responded, which kind of bugged me..but I got over it!!)

I love the male/female hour.....you're right, he's so good, he REALLY makes you think. He never hammers you over the head for conservatism, he just makes SENSE.

I would suggest, humbly, that in a discussion with a wide range of people in which opinions are offered, that you should be able to base and back your opinion upon something factual.

"Feelings" are rather irrelevant in political discussions.

Otherwise, everything you opine reduces to "I feel this way because... I feel this way."

There's no logic there. No thought. No intellect.

Perfect for a left-wing blog, not so much in a right-wing blog.
